To A Dear Friend

Hello crafters!  I have a simple, but lovely Stampcut card to share today.  I started with a piece of Arctic Blue card for my background.  I use the Slimline Decorative Squared Rectangles and cut one larger frame and two smaller frames out of white card.  I glued them onto the blue card, slightly overlapping the edges.  I inked the Hydrangea Stampcut die with a Black Archival ink pad and die cut it.  I used Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass Distress markers to colour the flower and Forest Moss and Crushed Olive to colour the leaves.  I added some Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz to the flowers after colouring them.  The flower was added with mounting foam to the lower corner of the card.   I cut and added a few extra leaves as accents and added them too.  I used the To A Dear Friend sentiment cut out of Iris and black card.  I shadow the sentiment with the black die and glued it to the upper part of the card.  The card was completed with white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2"  x  8 1/4"  in size.  All for now. Sue x

Hi Sue. You've recreated so many memories with just one focal point- the hydrangea. Mum had a front garden full of them this shade of blue in particular and they were placed far enough apart for me at about 6ish to jump over them, almost like hydrangea leapfrog, you have the shading perfectly I'm sure I get the scent coming through. But my first thought was that this would be the perfect card to send to someone that's had a real bad time lately, it's so peaceful to look at Sue but speaks volumes. Hope you are safe and looking forward to your 2nd vaccine as most of us here are, stay well everyone you're all in my thoughts xxx

Good Morning Sue.
If it wasn't for this blog I might stay in bed all day (lol)
I'm beginning to feel that there's nothing to get up for.
How ever, this beautiful card reminded me immediately of my Mum who died 65 years ago.
She had a beautiful one in the front garden and tended it so well. There were no tea bags in those days but her first morning ritual after drinking her tea
. she would go out with the tea leaves and carefully scatter them round the base of the plant.
You see Sue, how you can bring back lovely memories and lift the spirits of your followers.
Thank you .
Marie P.

Hello Sue, what beautiful card today. I love how you've used the slimline dies dies behind the beautiful hydrangea. You've created lots of memories today of this beautiful plant. I still have a beautiful pink one in the front garden and a smaller white one in the back. So pretty when they are both out. Thanks Sue, lovely card and sentiment xx

Hi Pauline, you can change the colour of your hydrangea to blue by making the soil more acidic.

Hi Sue and everyone, wow what a stunning card today. Is your favourite colour blue Sue, im not sure if I asked this before. But I love the inspiration today. What a great way to use the slimline dies too. The stampcuts are a fabulous idea, I know a lot of people hate to stamp so maybe this would help them too. Anyway gorgeous card and beautiful colours and for anyone who wants blue hydrangeas you change the ph of the soil to more acidic and apparently this makes the flowers blue. Take care all and hugs Donna xx
