You Mean The World To Me

Hi there my crafty friends!  I came across a piece of this wrinkly kraft paper recently so decided to make some flowers with it and do a card to use them on!  I pulled out a piece of tan card and stamped a swirl stamp all over it using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  Next I cut two Herald Squares in back and glued them to the card so that they slightly overlapped in the middle.  I cut an Oval Dainty frame in white and attached it over the overlapping Herald Square dies in the middle of the card.  I stamped my sentiment in black Archival ink and cut it out with the rectangle cutting edge from the Dainty Rectangular frame.  I inked it lightly with Antique Linen before removing it and added it with foam to the centre of the card.  I used the Camellia Complete petal die set to create the flowers out of the wrinkly kraft paper.  I lightly inked them with Black Soot distress ink before assembling them and added a black pearl to the centres.  I did a bit of matting in layering with white and black before adding my white paper pierced mat, a thin tan and black mat and a final white mat to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 9" in size.

 Hi bloggers!  A most unusual colour combo for me today, taupe and milk, although the pics make it look a tiny bit on the pink side.  I woke up one morning with this card in my head! LOL  It just had to be made, didn't it!  I cut four of the Ursa Gemini die out of milk coloured card using both of the cutting edges.  Next I cut four taupe ones, but without the centre decorative die, just using the two cutting edges.  I glued the pieces together and added mounting foam to them all.  I arranged them into a square, overlapping the corners slightly on a piece of milk card.  In the centre, I cut a taupe square from the Madison Square die set as a backdrop to my focal element.  Next I cut the decorative die from the Madison set in milk card,  I stamped my sentiment on to taupe card using a black archival ink pad.  I cut the centre of the Herald Square in milk and added mounting foam in thin pieces around the edge and mounted it over my sentiment.  I trimmed away the excess card around the edge and mounted it in the centre of my card.  I added some flatback cream pearls as embellishments.  I finished the card with a milk coloured mat, a thin taupe mat and a final milk mat.  I used the Cosmic Shimmer Ivory PVA glue dots all the way around the inner milk mat to give the card a nice framed look.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi bloggers!  I get a bit inky in today's instalment of the Crafting My Style video series (you don't see that often! LOL)  However, sometimes, you just don't have the colour ribbon that you want so you have to dye it match!

Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

 Good morning all!  I had hoped to have a bit of a different sort of treat for you today, but unfortunately it has been delayed until early next week now.  You know what they say though, good things come to those that wait! LOL  On offer today for the card giveaway is this pretty little peach number.  Again this week, I do need to say that this card will be posted out after my Weekender shows on Feb. 7th and 8th when I return so there will be a very slight delay before the winner will receive it.  I started by embossing a piece of peach card using the Rambling Blossoms embossing folder for the top half of my background.  I used my score board and added vertical lines to a piece of coconut white card for the bottom half of the card.  I cut this piece on the diagonal and glued it to the embossed peach card.  I cut two of the New York borders in white and off set them across the diagonal.  I added 3mm and 5mm white flatback pearls to the border's edge.  For the focal element, I kept it simple and cut the Oval Dainty Frame out of white card as the backdrop.  I stamped my sentiment in black and cut it out with the New York tag.  I inked it lightly with Tattered Rose distress ink before removing it and mounted it with foam on the oval frame.  I cut a strip of peach felt and folded it over lengthwise and glued the edges. I made wide cuts into the strip and then rolled it to create my flower, using Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue along the edge to secure it.  I seated the flower on a white seam binding messy bow and made two stick pins to match.  The card was then completed with my usual pierced mat layer, a thin peach card mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/4" in size.  If you would like to be entered in the drawing to win this card, just leave me a comment.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

Borders for Background

Hello crafters!  I just love this one!  It is incredibly easy to recreate, but really has a lovely appeal to it.  I hope you will be able to take a few minutes and give it a watch!

Hello bloggers!  Welcome to another crafty week!  I am hoping to have a nice surprise for you sometime this week. (tee hee, yes, that is me snickering with joy!)  Today's card is definitely one that fits into the clean and simple style.  I love designing striplets and I always just have to see them in their simplest style when I get the die prototypes so this is almost always the first card I make!  If you need a really quick card for a last minute thing, this is certainly the way to go too.  It works for any occasion by just changing the sentiment or the colour or both!  I stamped my sentiment (Bold Sentiment stamp set by Creative Expressions) using a Black Archival ink pad towards the lower right corner.  I always start with a piece of card that is slightly larger than the finished size .  This is because I can then straighten it if my stamping is a bit wonky (which it almost always is!) by just cutting the card a bit to make it look straight.  I used the Tethered Hearts striplet without the outer cutting edge to cut a decorative design into the card on the left of my stamped sentiment.   I placed mounting foam on the back of the card and mounted it to a piece of ruby red card, allowing a small edge to show all the way around.  I placed an 8mm white pearl in the centre of the striplet (yes it did slip a bit and I didn't notice when I took the pics!)   I paper pierced another piece of white card to frame it and added a final white mat to complete the card.  So simple! So quick too!  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Happy Birthday

 Good Sunday morning all!  This one happens to say Happy Birthday, but could easily be for a wedding, anniversary or just thinking of you (it was probably just the handiest sentiment stamp at the time!LOL)  Using the Bevelled Glass striplet, I cut a background by continuously cutting the die three times across a piece of coconut white card.  It is amazingly easy to line up and cut each time so you have a quick background ready to go.  I placed a self adhesive sticky sheet behind it so the adhesive was exposed through the cut out areas on the front.  I coated it with Diamond Sprinkles for a blingey tone on tone white card.  Next I gave it a thin white mat and added white flatback pearls to the some of the cut out areas.  Using the Delicate Daisy Open Petal die set, I cut several and layered them up to make two different sized white flowers.  I added a pearl to the centres then seated them on a piece of white tulle to the left side of my card.  I stamped my sentiment (from the Cr. Exp. Bold Sentiment stamp set) using a clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it with Silver Shine embossing powder.  I cut it into a strip and ran the Brushed Pewter Distress stain dabber along both sides to edge it.  I added some mounting foam to the back and tucked the end under my flower.  I completed my card with a white paper pierced mat, a thin silver card mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.
