Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi bloggers!  I originally did this card in a black and white theme, but decided to demo it in a red and white theme.  I am glad I did as I really like the way it turned out.  It will be today's offering for the Wednesday Card Giveaway so if you would like a chance to win it, just leave a comment and you will be entered into the drawing for it.  I started with a piece of ruby card and used the Illusion mask taped to it.  I spread the Berry Red Sparkle Texture Paste through the mask with a palette knife.  After carefully removing the tape and mask, I set it aside to dry over night.  Once dry, I cut it into three panels based on the design and added mounting foam to the back to raise them over a piece of coconut white card.    I cut several poinsettias out of vellum using the Poinsettia Additions and added them in a cluster in the lower left corner.  I embellished them with Holly Branches, Berry Sprigs and Pine Twigs cut out of coconut white card.  I added small black Dazzlers to the centres on the larger poinsettias and a black pearl to the smaller ones.  I cut my sentiment several times from the Ornate Holly Framed Peace die and stacked them for dimension.  I used the oval from the set to create a frame for the sentiment, which I seated on red card.  I added a small poinsettia on the rim of the frame as an accent.  The card was completed with white and red mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7 1/4" in size.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

Fabulous Day

Hi bloggers!  I used the Double Pierced Noble Ovals, both the original set (I'll call the A set) and the B set to cut apertures out of coconut white, black and sky blue card and stacked them to create the aperture in the background.  By using both the A and B sets, there is a closer mat between them.  I cut the thin edge die from the Romantic Edger out of white card and extended it to create a long piece.  I did two of these for the upper and lower edge of the background.  I lined the back of them with a thin strip of sky blue card, then matted the entire strip on a slightly larger piece of black card, added mounting foam and attached them to the edges of the card.  Next I used the decorative die from the Mauritius die set and cut it into a piece of coconut white card.  I mounted that piece behind the aperture opening.  I stamped my sentient in black and cut the centre from the Madeleine die to create a blue and white frame to go over it.  I seated it in the centre of the aperture atop the Mauritius die.  I added a piece of sky blue card behind the Mauritius die to show through it.  Using the Exquisite Poppy die set, I created  three dimensional flowers and added them to the left side of the frame.  I seated the flowers on a bow tied from white satin ribbon and accented with Olive Branches in white.  The card was completed with white, black and sky blue mats.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Double Happily Ever After Sunday

Good Sunday morning all!  Today's double day features the Happily Ever After die set.  This first card was started by embossing a piece of milk card with the Jacobean Floral embossing folder.  I cut a double strip of cream pearls down the centre and ran them along the top and bottom edges of the embossed piece.  Next I cut the Happily Ever After decorative die three times, twice with a dusty pink (from my stash) and once from Chestnut brown card.  I backed all three with the opposite colours and cut the centres out to create three frames.  I staggered the frames and ran a piece of satin ribbon that had similar colours on it through the frames to create a buckle card.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a small oval then mounted it on top of a decorative die from the Geneva die set.  I added this piece to the centre of the cards and then tied a double bow with the same ribbon and added it to the left side of the card.   I completed the card with a pierced milk mat, then added dusty pink and brown thin mats and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

For card number two, I created a background using a Classic Elegance Paper pad selection in blue.  I cut two strips out of the same paper and mounted them above and below the focal element raised for dimension.  I added a strip of pearls to both sides of each strip as accents.  I cut the same decorative die as above three times out of coconut white card, then mounted white backing pieces on each of them.  I cut one in half directly down the centre and mounted it flush with each edge.  I added a whole one to the centre in a diamond orientation, then cut the last one so that it just nipped away a smaller portion on each side, leaving the centre of the die as waste (at least on this card) and added it on top of the side cut dies.  I cut a circle out of the decorative paper and added it to the centre of the card and then cut and stacked several of the sentiment die and glued them in place atop of the decorative circle in the centre of the card.   I cut several of the Exquisite poppy die in white and scrunched them and made three flowers.  I mounted them around the focal element with Olive branches as accents.  The card was completed with a white on white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7 1/2" in size.
