Hi bloggers! Every once in awhile I just have to unleash my inner grunge and allow it to go free. Today's card was just such an adventure. I know it may not appeal to everyone, but it came out with a soft shabby chic feel to it in real life and I was just so pleased with it. Did a little happy dance in fact! LOL Give it a chance as I think it will grow on you! I started by covering a piece of milk card with some picket fence, tea dye and Tattered Rose ink in the form of a wash. I cut the piece into three sections and distressed the edges and mounted them on foam. Next I glued a piece of cheesecloth (from the hardware store) on to the background. I flicked a white paint pen at it to add more distress. I stamped the Shaded Peony on some card from my stash (a sort of strawberry colour and cut them out and created several different sized flowers. I spritzed them with water and crumpled them a bit too. The Dandelion Clocks were used for the flower centre. I cut several of the stemmed Dandelion clocks in different colours and arranged them around my flowers with some Maidenhair Fern bits added too. Finally I cut the Vertical Thanks in milk card and backed the letters with Taupe card, added mounting foam and mounted it to the right side of the card with another flower. I finished off with my mats and layers of milk card and taupe card, but distressed the edges of all of them. The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8" in size. Has it grown on you yet? LOL All for now, Sue x

GM Sue. I use the word lovely a lot in my comments on your cards because they are just that. But this beyond lovely and I am struggling to find a word to describe just how much I love this card. Awesome does it I think! Fab background and flowers and soooo textural.TFS.
Morning Sue
Today's gift is certainly one that I have to look at for a few more times yet before I can make my mind up. It certainly is way out of my box but it's what we need sometimes to make us stop and think.
Despite all that I do appreciate your format and your brilliant use of your dies.
We have a damp start to the day here but the sun has just shown his face so perhaps he'll stay around. At least the temps are at a level where I can craft without damp hands spoiling everything.
To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Janet x
Very different card today Sue, I love it. You do grunge very well. JJxx
Oh Sue I wish you would let the grunge beast out to play more often. ~This is so up my street....love it love it love it

Hi Sue, I love the way you've done something a bit different - the cheesecloth in the background works really well, I love the flowers and the way you've used the stemmed dandelion clocks like leaves is brilliant.
B xx
Hi Sue.
Is this REALLY a Sue Wilson card ? You little devil you. Not only have you let the grunge in you fly free, you also did a cheeky little happy dance (wow, SW twirking) bet we wont see that on YouTube OR the new craft channel - go on Sue, dare ya : )
Im giving it a chance, and im sure that within the hour I will love it, I already love the floral focal element its just the background I need to get use to as it really is so unusual for you to go so uncaringly wild lol. Its a bit like Banksy going from weird to pretty floral graffiti with added butterflies over night lol.
Whatever your naughty, cheeky, twirking plans are for the day Sue, enjoy and go for it lol.
Sending love n hugs to you Sue and my dear friends that mean so much to me, this sentiment goes out to you xx

Morning Sue. WOW You have let your grungy side out and it look's fantastic. It has a vintage, elegant quality about it. The cheesecloth is beautiful and the flower's are just gorgeous. You should do a video on this card as it would give us novice grunge crafter's something to aim for. This would be beautiful framed and hanging on the wall all year round. You can let your grunge side out more often and keep your fitness up doing your happy dance LOL. Have a lovely day Sue.
Take care everyone. Had another down pour lastnight, so let's see what today bring's..

Hi Sue. I must start by saying how much I loved yesterday"s card. I did write a comment at the time but must have forgotten to press publish! Sorry about that. I will try and remember to do it right today : )
I love it when you have one of your grungey moments: ) I am not usually a fan of grunge but you always get it just right, and today's card proves it. I love it all but the flowers in particular have caught my eye. My screen is showing brown's and cream shades, not seeing any reds at all but it still looks great. I am glad that you were so pleased with it too.
Have a good day, I hope your Mom is well too. Hugs for everyone. Take care xx
Love this card Sue, it still has your stamp on it but I love how pretty you've made shabby!
Love this card Sue, so different but immaculate at the same time xxx

Good morning Sue, a lovely card today although very different from your usual, love the shabby chic and the background.
Take care Jane B.
Didn't manage to comment yesterday but I liked the use of backing paper and micro beads on yesterday's card. Sometimes I'm too busy looking at other techniques and forget about my backing papers! Today's card is totally different and probably well beyond my capabilities! It's not a style I would have thought of, but the more I look at it, the more I like it! I get so much inspiration from you, Sue!
Have a lovely day everyone,
Susi in Cyprus
Good Morning Sue,
I really like this card, so different, proves what can be done with some imagination,
Thanks

Are we seeing a hidden side of Sue Wilson? This is unexpected but very welcome. The planning needs a little mulling over but the end result is rather gorgeous.
Looks like I'm in the minority on this one - its not my cup of tea, sorry.

At first glance I wasn't sure, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it, I think I was just taken by suprise & thought someone had hijacked your blog! Wish my grunge was like yours Sue - just haven't been able to pull it off. Any chance of a video to see how you go about it please.
Don't need to give it a chance - its fab and right up my street. Love the colours and the dies and the overall effect is just stunning. Still wish my imagination was anywhere near as creative as yours!!!!!
It's a beautiful card Sue, but not my favourite colours I'm afraid, yet I can see the attraction for those who like the shabby chic look. :)

Interesting to see your dies used in different ways
Wow Sue this is different, was not sure at first but the more I looked at the card, and saw all the elements the more I began to like it, I am not good at the grunge look but might have to give it another try
Wendyx
Hi Sue. I love this card. It's such a departure from your usually style. It would be great to have a video of these techniques. Jennie, my granddaughter, is still enjoying your videos and is now very into guilding flakes!! Take care. Love Diane. Xx
Good Morning, Sue
Well this is a nice surprise on this awful morning, I think your card is wonderful as I love the shabby chic look. You should try this look more often as judging by the majority of comments so many of your followers love it!
Unfortunately, I can't see some of the colours you mentioned but that doesn't matter as your card is still fabulous.
Perhaps we could have a video sometime on Shabby chic cards?
i have tried this type of card a long time ago but am now planning another session.
Lesley S x
Good morning Sue!! This card doesn't take any growing on me!!It was love at first sight, lol :)

Hi Sue, a lovely card. You make shabby look very chic and elegant. Not tried shabby but might one day.

Hi Sue,
lovely card - makes me think of Harvest Festival - why, don't know.
I think I'd add a teensy weensy bit of red, perhaps some berries..........
I am always VERY unsuccessful at doing grunge, but your little masterpiece is encouraging me to keep on trying, every now and again.
Hugs, Rose
Grunge it may be but the flowers have a luminous quality to them that lifts the card from the dreary to the delightful. I like it.
Happy Days,
Lesley
Love it when you give us something different Sue!

Hi Sue
Love this style. More of this please!!!
I love it! I usually have no idea how to achieve that grungy look, but I can see how you did this, and it works so well. What's more, I have all the dies you used, except the Thanks, and I think I'll have to put that right!
Hi Sue
More shabby chic than grunge, the floral element is superb. Thank you for always giving us something different
Hugs and best wishes everyone
Pat
Hello Sue
Gosh this is a bit different, I wondered if I had got the wrong blog, lol. As you said it did grow on me. I would agree that it is more Shabby Chic than Grungy. The floral elements is so nicely dramatic. It must be great for you to do something a little different, I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes
Love everything about this one, especially the colour tones and those flowers
I do so love this card. Very creative, clever and the colours are gorgeous. Love the layout, the dies and the techniques used..Love it! x
Whatever you make Sue always turns out to be amazing and this card is no exception..Very different but lovely.
Thanks Val in Spain x
Wow, this is gorgeous! Forget using the word grunge. This is CHIC! It so reminds me of Fall is so near, and my friends will start hanging things from their gardens to dry out and use in indoor floral settings for the fall and winter.
Sue, you should step out of the comfort zone more often and do videos on cards like this. This takes your dies on a new level using beautiful colors on this card.
Hi Sue, a lovely card even if it is not my personal choice. You have shown us how to do shabby chic (much nicer than grunge) to perfection. I have a friend that would love something like this but I don't think I had better try because it would probably just turn out a big mess lol.
Frances
Hi Sue,
me again - what was I saying!!? Had a look in close-up and OF COURSE I WOULDN'T add a teensy weensy bit of red, that pink and brown is just beautiful.
I'm with fluffycat with regard to shabby chic vs grunge. And my efforts on that front turn out like Muriel Kelly's I suspect.
You just HAVE that elegance which shines through no matter what the style is.
Hugs, Rose
Shabby chic is a favorite of mine and you do it brilliantly!!! This card is gorgeous and the colors...WOW, WOW, WOW! You should be doing a happy dance! Have a beautiful day!
Hi Sue,
don't dislike today's card but I think a touch of orange or red would lift it a little.
Love to all

Morning Sue, I love it, love it, love it. I love shabby chic and this really appeals to me, the flowers and dandelion clocks add the perfect finishing touches.

I think it's gorgeous Sue, I too love a little grunge but don't always get the chance to create it with the card orders I am asked to do.
This card works so beautifully with the colours and textures you have created here, those flowers are wonderful and I hope you let the grunge out more often in the future.

Love it! Even your grunge looks tasteful. Mine doesn't! X
No need to give it time..... i love this card.

Hi Sue, Sorry that I didn't leave any comments over the weekend but had visitors AGAIN and whilst I was able to have a sneak peek at your cards I didn't get time to blog but they were both lovely as usual. WOW Your grunge card is something else. I love it. Now if I had flicked paint/scrunched up my flowers after soaking them to death, the whole lot would most probably have ended up in the bin. However, can't is only can with a 't' on the end so will try, try again. Hugs xx PAuline A

I love the flowers, and everything seems to complement each other
Thank you for all the inspiration.

I love your card. I'm such a clean and crisp card person, but recently I've been trying some mixed media which is so not me. However, I have to say it's been fun. I wanted to think outside the box and try something different. The biggest obstacle has been getting used to my hands and work space being messy...OCD here, too. LOL Anyway, I love your creation and the colors are so pretty. So happy I found your blog. TFS with us. Jan D., Florida, USA
Hi Sue, always good to have a change of style and this is so lovely, very elegant, Kate x

Today's card is not really my style but I do like to see you do different things it is nice to get out of the comfort zone occasionally.
Afternoon Sue and everyone.
Love the cheese cloth background, the peony's are
stunning, need to get the stamp for them. The colour
on the screen is more wine red/ brown, I like it !
Sending love and hugs to all Wilsonette's and my
true friends. Hope your day is ok!
Have seen the doc.this morning, a few thorns still in my throat so
needed something to help it move along and it been
raining all day so far, going under the duvet or make
some cards ,that's the question ?

Wow, your inner grunge is spectacular! What a gorgeous card! Thank you for the close-ups - the details are amazing!
Your inner grunge did an amazing job! LOVE the shabby chic feel and those flowers are so pretty! TFS!
Different for you, Sue, but it is pretty and does grow on you...love the colours!
Loving this shabby chic grunge style card! Creative Blessings, Tracy x
I love grunge! Of course, I love bling also. :)
This is an absolutely beautiful card design. I think you should do more of them, by the way. :)
I am amazed by how different all your designs can appear; and you don't use very much, if any, patterned paper. Wow! Loving that! Then I wouldn't need to have piles of the stuff, just plain card stock! That will make me pause & think for awhile.
Hi Sue
Love it, love it, love it!!! Inclined to agree with Alison's description that it is "elegant grunge". Not pastel enough for shabby chic IMO! I love the background & the different way you've done flowers. I need some (more) flower dies so I may as well get some with matching stamps as it's something I've not had before. I think the whole card is stunning & although I love your usual cards I'm hoping for a few more "Sue Wilson Elegant Grunge" cards!
Miserable day outside today. Weather warnings for flash floods, fingers crossed that no one is affected.
Ok, I'm off to try and liven myself up & do something (as yet undefined). Have a lovely day (despite the rain) Hugs to everyone, especially to those who are ill, having treatment, in any kind of pain or who just need an extra hug!
Happy crafting,
T x
Not really my type of card but the color and what you did with some of the items on the card are inspiring!!
Not really my type of card, but love the design

Good afternoon lovely Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes!
Well, how much do I adore this card? I simply cannot be summarised in a single paragraph! I love it when you let yourself go and produce a true work of art that is shabby chic in all of its glory. I only wish that you would do it more often because you are at least as good, if not better, than Tim Holtz himself! Could you please do some demos on YouTube of the techniques you have used because tearing and distressing card doesn't come naturally to me and I would like to see a master at work. I would love to do something similar on my heritage scrapbook album. It would have been so great if this had been the weekly card giveaway because it would be simply stunning mounted and framed.....on my craftroom wall!;-) please do more Sue, everyone appears to love it.
I had some good news today, I won a beautiful card using the weaving dies on Johns blog-I am so excited because they are my favourite dies by far at the moment but I have been unable to buy them due to prioritising the Christmas collection. Now I just need to win one of Sues to have the complete set...hint, hint! I will be getting it mounted and framed as soon as I receive it.
I do hope that the upcoming shows feature the weaving dies and the more recent additions to the finishing touches collection. C&C don't always have a great selection anymore so having a rival will encourage positive competition I think!
I am planning to create a box for my brothers girlfriends birthday on Saturday- I haven't made one in years and I'm hoping I don't make a pigs ear of it with my decorations...I never can do plain and simple:-)
I do hope all of my friends, including Yvonne, Beth, Maria and Wheely Bad are ok and not suffering at the minute.xxx
Special mention to Molly, your words of encouragement and advice to Beth yesterday were so heart warming and thoughtful. You are wise beyond your years sweetie, and a true credit to your family- hope Grandad can manage to keep his strength up even if it's only toast it's something positive in the right directionxxxx
Hope everyone is having a lovely start to this exciting week-not long before Sue is back with us again, yippee!
Love and crafty hugs,
Laine1972xxxxxx
Hello Sue
Stunning gorgeous fabulous. I can't stop looking at it. I love the thought of you doing a happy little dance when you saw your finished result.
I don't know whether it is grunge or shabby chic as I don't really understand the difference but what I do know is it's something very special and I love it.
Lorraine well done you lucky lady, I hope you manage to complete your collection one day soon!
Love and hugs for all

Hi Sue
Thus is gorgeous, love the grungy effect and the cheesecloth in the background is quite unusual. I love the selection of flowers you gave used, the dandelion heads look fabulous. Oh Sue I think you should bring out your inner grungy more often! Thank you for sharing.

Hellooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Oooooo Sue! First glance I thought ooooo it's busy....but yup, by the time I'd gotten to the last line it had quietly grown on me xx I started to see the strawberry tone in the flowers and went from there. I have this amazing image of you flicking the white paint! It's a take aim..... and fire! Lol! Adding to that the happy dance! Now you know how your Wilsonettes feel when they win something of yours! It's nice that you have done a completely different masterpiece xx Gorgeous and "thank you Sue" xx Sending love and hugs to you sue, your mom and family xx Also sending love and hugs to all our Wilsonettes who are in need of some xx Love Karen xx
