Just A Note

Hello crafters!  How's this for a change from last Monday's grungy shabby chic card! This one has a real clean and simple styled feel to it I think.  I just love the pop of the slightly different shades of aqua card against the white and black.  I started by using the Montreal die to cut an aperture in a piece of coconut white card.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it and placed it over another piece of white card.  I cut the Just A Note die three times and layered them to add some thickness to the lettering.  I added it to the centre of the aperture.  By the way, this die has been designed with a tilt on both the "Just" and the "Note" so that you can place it in several different orientations.  I decided to give both words a slight tilt here.  I cut several of the Perfect Peonies Complete Petal die set out of varying shades of aqua card (from my stash) and rather than using them doubled up as I regularly do, I placed them around my aperture singularly, but with a small black Dazzler added to the centres.  I added this to a few larger white mats, keeping it fresh and simple, no embossing at all to complete the card (not even any piercing!)    I have to admit that it isn't easy to not add bits, but I do love the look of plain white card!   The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/4" in size.  I do like mixing it up from time to time to keep you on your toes.  Did it work!  LOL

I also wanted to mention that JOhn Lockwood has shows on Hochanda today at 1pm, 3pm and 6pm.  They felt that since there were some technical issues on the launch day that were being ironed out, that they would like John to do few more shows.  I hope you will be able to tune in!  Don't forget that you can now watch the shows online on the Hochanda website if you are not able to see them on Freeview or Sky!  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, simple but elegant card today, beautiful. Hope you are keeping well, you are due back soon aren't you?

Will be watching John on Hochanda, so enjoyed his first shows, yes small glitches but these will be ironed out. Only wish Virgin would take it up or that we can see repeats of some of the shows, not everyone has sky and can tape the shows.

Enjoy you Bank Holiday Monday, stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Yes, Sue, it works but I do love added bits! Pretty in its simplicity but WOT no piercing?? Hardest part on this one (for me) would be to place the layers perfectly and my wonky bits would show up horribly - well, they do anyway!!
Thanks for info on John's shows - H's website still not operating so does anyone know how to get a programme schedule please? (Not on Facebook.) Have phoned H and asked if they could put out an email to their registered followers with the next day's schedule but to no avail. How easy that would be. So far have bought zilch as didn't realise it was a pen and paper job to note down numbers etc and then phone up to order - glad I'm not a crowdfund invester lol.

Morning Sue. This is a simple but stylish card. My sister would love this as she doesn't like a to fussy card and i think this is a one for my stash box for her next birthday. The different shade's of aqua card just give's it that pop of colour. I will be watching John today and i am sure over the next few day's they will get there problem's ironed out, it's like everything in life it's not alway's perfect first time, just like my crafting LOL. Could you please bring some of the sunshine home with you as the weather is so horrible here LOL. Take care Sue and have a safe journey back to the UK.
Take care everyone. It's looking like the usual Bank Holiday weather. Rain
Best Wishes.

Hi Sue.
Clear, crisp, simple, and beautiful. The aqua looks deeper than it does In the real world and with the black centre of the flowers makes the whole card pop, it's really lovely Sue.
Have the sky box all set up to record Johns shows today as I've not lifted a single crafty finger this weekend and it's only 3 weeks until the next market!
So I will hope for you Sue that you have a lovely day whatever your plans are.
Sending much love to you Sue, and also to Sam, Alison, Tina, and Elizabeth.
Hugs.

Hi Sue,
Well that's how to ring the changes this rainy Monday morning!
Very nice - the aqua is good against the white-enough variation in them to take away the stark white.
It shows up the greeting beautifully.
Well done you!
Take care out there everyone!

Hello Sue

Lovely card nice clean and simple lines.

Good news with CE being on again I bet they got the best viewings with CE :) It will be better than watching someone fold a plastic box for an hour especially as there was only one way to fold it!! Hochanda is improving every day though so by the time you are with us hopefully it will all be up and running.

Have a good bank holiday Monday!

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes

Sue, only you can make a simple card with very little embellishment look so chic & elegant, but when I first saw the card without the pierced edging I thought perhaps someone else had made the card for you; Lol; so yes it is very different but then what is so amazing Sue you often surprise us with different & we kinda should not be surprised when we see this. Yesterdays card was an exceptional wow for me, I have a sympathy card to make & as my mojo has gone walkabouts too I guess Sundays beautiful card will have my mojo winging its way back to me in no time it is perfect for just a card...thank you for the inspiration Sue as always just when I need it & of course for sharing with us x x x

Well my friends I have been AWOL for a short while (seems like a lifetime)I was going to be tucked up in my craft room making some cards but unusually Mr B had 3 days off work so after doing the food shopping & the tedious chore of storing it away we decided to get a room decorated that had been put on hold because of one thing or another (something we are all familiar with, lol)Mr B, bless him, can decorate but he is messy with it & it takes a long time to clear up after him so I did the painting myself...except with me it is slower & more methodical because I get very tired & exhausted (sympathise with you Yvonne...hope you're soon back to par my friend) I enjoy painting the walls & seeing it coming together is quite an achievement for me but I find glossing the woodwork is quite tedious so therefore don't enjoy it that much. Furniture & things going back in today so should be getting back to normal soon then once I can up on the housework I can watch the recordings of John doing his fabulous demonstrations on Hochanda.

Just a quickie update...Lauren has improved & Hannah thank fully has no nasty fallouts from her previous incident so have stopped the salt bathing & she is no longer limping...thank you for the cuddles Lynda they send them right back at you for Annie & Bambi & of course (((HUGS))) for all adorable Wilsonettes pets x x x

I would like to send Love 'n' (((HUGS))) to you Sue, your family & to all our lovely Wilsonettes & I especially send extra for those who would like...Hope you & your family are having a lovely holiday in beautiful Devon Molly x x x Take care &

Hi Sue,
oh yes, it worked indeed - I went WOW, and it surely woke me up fully. I love this card, too. You certainly have the knack. It is such a simple design but not one I would have thought of.
You simply cannot go wrong with aqua and white. And the peonies look just gorgeous with the little dazzlers.
As for John's shows with Hochanda today - already set for record as I might not get a chance to watch live.

Morning Sue, WOW, wondered if I'd got onto the wrong blog when I saw today's card. So different from your usual ones but lovely, nevertheless. I would like to think that I could make this but how would I cover up my mistakes? i.e. Wobbly bits and smudges. Normally I stick a flower or butterfly over. Lol Started my Christmas cards for real, yesterday. Thanks for the info regarding John. Will be watching. Hugs xxx Pauline A

Hi Sue,
A lovely but simple card today, I also couldn't get all those line straight, I ways end up with my layers slightly off.

I'm looking forward to John's demos today, I do love his demos I first saw him demo live at Daisys Jewels and Crafts way back in April he's such a nice guy and very gifted artist. He kept saying our cards are art and he's right.
Also learnt so much from him of what I was doing wrong when I'm cutting out dies and how not to waste the card.you have a gem there Sue and his stamps are fantastic too.
It's raining here as well, think most of the country has the rain today. So I'm in for a crafty day, unless I get visitors some time.

Have a great day

Well, consider me on my toes! Lol- no piercing? I am shocked- but not in a bad way - just in an "on my toes" way :). Very pretty card! It is fun to mix it up a bit isn't it? I was afraid I was getting spoiled & could only enjoy elaborate, "signature Sue" cards, but this showed me that isn't the case. I very much like this card too. I made a white & turquoise card this weekend and it was quite pretty but felt it was missing something & maybe too feminine (it was for my daughter's bf). I added a touch of black, et voila, it was perfect! So it was fun to see your card today with the same colors :)
Glad you are back Beth and that Lauren & Hannah are on the mend as well. Sounds like you got a lot of work done with your redecorating! That's an accomplishment to be proud of and one you can enjoy for a long time.
I'll have to try the Hochanda website again in hopes of seeing some of John's shows.
I'm trying to keep this short since my last few posts have been quite long! Some of you might be thinking "this is short??" Lol- for me it is ;)
Sending warm, happy & feel good wishes to all the Wilsonettes and of course to you too Sue!
Rebecca in Colorado

Oops just re read my post and wanted to clarify...when I was saying I was afraid I could only enjoy elaborate cards, I was referring to those I make and give out - not to those I receive. I'm always thrilled with others' homemade cards! I tend to put high expectations on myself and start feeling pressured to outdo my previous attempts. Sue's card today was a good reminder for me.
So much for a shorter post...

Good afternoon Sue and the lovely Wilsonettes,

What no piercing !!??! My dicky ticker can barely stand the shock! I cannot remember the last time one of your creations had no pierced edge, it's your signature-it's like a Picasso without a signature! In saying that , it is a lovely, crisp , fresh design without the clutter of fussy embellishments and ribbons-straight to the point and ideal for batch making. It's refreshing to have something different for a change, I tend to throw everything at a card in the hope that it will stick so I can learn a valuable lesson here that you needn't do this to create an eye catching card.
Just had my first seat of the day, Mondays are a strictly ironing day with bedding, and anything that stands still long enough, getting the full treatment. So I have missed Johns first live hour but I am now managing to catch up on Sky+. He is such an accomplished demonstrator now, but then again he has been mentored by the best in the business! I am soooo tempted by the dies on show but I am being really strict with myself as I have to prioritise Christmas ones just now. I have mixed feelings about Hochanda-whilst the sound and presenting has vastly improved, I am disappointed that the website isn't up and running yet. It's not very professional, since most of us prefer to shop this way. I only hope that it will be resolved before Sues visit because I like to browse through the items before I settle down to watch the demonstrations.
I was relieved to see that you are okay Beth-you are a one woman dynamo, I just pray that you don't do yourself a mischief in the process:-) leave all the heavy work to Mr B just in case. Glad to hear that Hannah is recuperating nicely, I've had a nail come off and it's no joke for the wee soul. What age are Lauren and Hannah?xxxx
I get an injection into my bank account tomorrow and my Mum is decidedly nervous as she has noticed our credit card twitching in anticipation. I NEED some more Christmas dies so that I can kick start the festivities- having problems narrowing it down again, tried going by my favourite Sue creations but I can't decide which I like best. I console myself with the thought that I will have them all in time....just don't tell my Mum!......so it doesn't really matter which order they come in. Think I will try Beth's advice of putting the names in a hat, I know it makes perfect sense.
Rebecca, I think we got a bottle or two of your sunshine delivered this bank holiday.....though our temperatures don't reach the dizzy heights of 90+ though! Nevermind, excessive UVA rays only age you prematurely and I need all the help that I can get in that department:-)
Oooops! Just noticed that the drizzle has began....well it is Scotland after all, four seasons in one day!

Love and crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxxxx

Hi, Sue I loved last week's lovely grunge card. This is a nice, neat and simple card. Sorry my comments have been somewhat sporadic.

I've been following all John's shows, with your fabulous dies on Honchanda and recording them.
Yes, they certainly seemed to have problems with sound levels and camera work etc. on Thurs, looking somewhat amateurish.
But things are certainly better now. The demos are certainly worth watching!!! :-)

Hugs and Best Wishes to you all,

Angela in S. Wales Xx

Hi Sue. I love today's simple but elegant card !! Lots of layers of white on white card !! I still to this date have not been brave enough to make a white on white card myself !! I know I really should have a go at one. I love the shape of the aperture you have used and the lovely "Just a note" die with its built up layers to make it nice and chunky. I really love your beautiful Peony flower dies in those beautiful Aqua / green colours. I think they are so lovely as just one layer flowers with little black dazzlers for their centres !! Thanks for sharing this lovely card today Sue. Sending you and your family lots of love from Tres x x x

Evening Sue
Simple and stunning. Not an obvious Sue card without the trademark piercing but I love it.
This 'body on strike' episode is definitely passing but I am pacing myself. One small step for man but a giant leap for Yvonne! Lol.
I've had a busy day. Had a bath, made a coffee AND made a curry for dinner - one up on yesterday!
Withdrawal symptoms from not cardmaking but really hoping to rectify this soon.
Sending everyone a big hug and lots of love
