Treasured Friend

Hello my crafty friends!  Today's card is a soft yellow (custard card) base, not a colour that I use often enough I think!  I started by embossing the background with a mask called Fanciful.  I moved it along to do the entire background for a bit of texture.  Next I stamped the Cabbage Rose Frame stamp (drawn by John Lockwood) and heat embossed it in white.  I used Distress inks to overlay some colour on to the leaves in a general way, not staying within the lines.  I stamped it a second time and this time, cut out several of the flowers to raise them up.  I used Distress markers to colour them (Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick) which looked nice against the white embossing.  I cut a St Lucia die in white and cut it in half horizontally and layered my stamped image on top so it was peeking out from underneath.  I added small White PVA glue dots to the tips. I stamped my sentiment and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet, then coated it with Diamond Sprinkles before die cutting it.  I added it to the open area in the stamped focal element with some mounting foam.   I wrapped a piece of white satin ribbon around the bottom of the card, added a double bow and a white crystal Sparkler to the centre.  Two matching Stick pins were made and added to the bow (they are actually yellow, but look rather greenish in the pics!)  The remainder of the card is just the paper piercing, a thin custard card mat and my final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/2" in size.

The winner of this week's Wednesday Card Giveaway is:

Sandie Braithwaite!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card!  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes

What a fabulous & very interesting card Sue, this is by no means crowded but it has so many lovely details to it that every time I look at it my eye is drawn to yet another beautiful detail...like looking at a painting that draws you to one spot then another & as I love reading into paintings (had to write about them during my Uni courses some time ago) then this is a massive compliment & a sincere thank you to your talents, you really are treasured by us all Sue, after all that is what this blog is really all about & I for one can’t wait for this new channel dedicated to CE...just hope I can get Freeview channel 39 (Hochanda) Home of Crafts Hobbies And Arts. What a great name, so apt x x x

SANDIE B; Congratulations on winning Sue’s gorgeous WG card, you are so lucky, am I a little envious, YES, lol, but I am pleased for you...bet you already have a spot picked out for it...enjoy your fab prize x x x

“You are a treasured friend” – right back at you Sue & to all fabulous Wilsonettes friends, even our newest friends, especially more so to those who wrote such wonderful caring, supportive & encouraging comments, there were so many kind messages that without mentioning names (you know who you are...lol) I would like to convey a SINCERE THANK YOU x x x to each & every one of you & I hope that I can always be there for all our friends for whatever reason, if only we could all of us meet up one day what a great spectacle it would be & what a laugh we would have x x

I also want to reassure you that I was not so much offended by the comment, more a little shocked & a little upset I suppose, simply because at that point of reading it I had persuaded myself that maybe my posts were a load of boring drivel & were just too lengthy for many...BUT HEY!!! That is dust swept under the carpet now...OOOOH I did that literally a few times when I was little more than knee high...lol

I would also like to convey a huge welcome to our new Wilsonettes...please stay with our lovely family... Sue shares her beautiful & amazing talents with us through her cards & videos with amazing designs, techniques, hints & tips & we would all hate for you to miss out on these daily treasures because of a comment glitch...besides Sue is so generous it is our way of showing her support & gratitude...so again Welcome to our new found friends x x x

My Teal GC turned up yesterday so couldn’t wait to have a play...tried EF – ok; tried cutting the die – ok, Tried embossing die...now here’s where I had a senior moment & let myself down yet again (do you remember when I did this at Julia’s workshop) I placed the noble die in with card put to GC turned handle nothing happened, tried again..Oh lordy...nothing again...my thoughts...flaming machine what’s wrong with you (just had to blame the tools & not the craftswoman...lol) DUH!!! Then I remembered my previous mistake, made the changes & hey presto...have I learned from my mistake...think not...will I do it again probably...lol...

Anyways my friends I will close for now until tomorrow...take care Love ‘ n’ (((HUGS))) to you Sue, your family & to our family of Wilsonettes Beth B x x x x x

Hi Sue,

I don't think my monitor is doing the colours justice here but it seems to be clashing the olive in the rose leaves against the soft yellow of the custard card, I'm sure this is much prettier in real life and lovely to see the St. Lucia again, it gives such an unusual framing for the focal point...

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,

A gorgeous card today Sue, you should use soft yellows more often, they are such a calming colour (I especially love the banana shade).

Beth, don't take any notice of distractors who hide behind anonymity, they are generally not very nice people who only goal is to make others as miserable as themselves. Life is too fleeting to worry about them.
You have every right to comment as much as you want to. I enjoy reading your little stories, you come across as such a friendly, delightful person and I do wish you would pop into the café for longer chats.

Congratulations to Sandie, I am sure you are delighted with your win. Enjoy it my dear, one of Sue's cards are an item to treasure.

It's our Village Flower show today and I have a stall of cup candles that I made to sell and raise funds for Cardiomyopathy UK in memory of my beautiful Pete. At our Church Fete, I made £115 selling them so am hoping that today's event will be well attended.

However you are spending your weekend, make time for yourselves, in our busy lives as Mums,Grans and Nannies, we sometimes forget to say 'Whoa, it's time for me now'.

Love & hugs to all

I think the card is very pretty - a fun change of pace. The colors are very sunny-so it gives me a light happy feeling. I too forget about how much I like stamping, especially embossing, because I've gone so die crazy.
I have questions tho...I didn't know you could emboss with masks. I also don't know if I'll be able to get the new channel in the U.S. I only recently heard about Create & Craft and it seems they've only recently started having a channel in the U.S. I've never been able to locate it on the television even tho our provider supposedly has it. I've only been able to watch it on the computer (which isn't in a comfortable location for much watching). The U.S. Schedule never matched what I would hear about on the blog, so I don't catch the specials anyway. I guess I'll b in the same boat regardless of the channel. Im not sure why I'm going on about that- other than to whine once again about not having unlimited access to Sue's dies. Whining is so unbecoming, I guess I'll stop (for now ;)
Does going on the new channel mean you won't be on Create & Craft? Will they still carry some of your products? Here's a cheerful thought, maybe the new channel's website will have even more of your designs and maybe I'll be able to order from them. That would be exciting! I'm falling asleep writing this (it's 2:40am here) - hopefully this post is isn't putting anyone else to sleep! Good day to all!

Super card today Sue - at first glance it looked almost fluffy! Then the roses looked 3D until I looked hard, so it was quite a different card to what I originally thought, and cleverly done! Great for the UK postage rates these days, which spoil our enjoyment of the 3D flowers unless hand delivered.

Brilliant news about Hochanda, I have the launch set to record in case I forget it, but I doubt if I will. Definitely looking forward to a 'rival' company, and I am wondering if they will be delivering to Ireland, and what the cost might be.

Beautiful color! Yes, Sue, you do need to use it more often. Very bright and cheerful. Do you make your own stickpins? Trying to find some jewelry findings to make some but can't seem to find any.

Good Afternoon, Sue,
What a beautiful card! I don't think there is anything I don't love about it. The stamped flowers are really pretty and I love the fact that you used the custard card again for this one. The pins are superb and always give the finished card an extra touch of elegance.
Looking forward to the launch of the new tv channel. I've signed up for their newsletter so I don't miss the launch. Congratulations to Sandra for winning the wonderful giveaway card this week. xx

Hello Sue.

A beautiful card and I love the colours. The St. Lucia die looks lovely peeping from behind the Cabbage Rose Frame. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations to Sandi Braithwaite, I'm sure you will be as excited as I was. Thank you for doing this Sue it is so generous.

I am so pleased to hear Creative Expressions are going to be on Hochanda, I hope they appreciate the crafter's and don't get to big for their boots as another channel did. A bit of competition is usually a good thing.

Hi Sue

Not a colour I'd use, I like it, yellow was my late nannas favourite colour so it is special to see a card she would have loved. Everything is so pretty, slightly vintage looking and she'd have loved every bit of it. By default I love it too- especially as I'm a sucker for a stick pin!!!

Congratulations Sandie xxx

Maria, the sunshine is lovely- the blue cloudless sky the other side of the window automatically makes me feel better but it's only to look at or sit in a shady doorway. I can't handle the bright light without my "so dark it's ridiculous sunglasses", and if I get to hot I stay hot. In a way a relief as being a natural shade of pasty white (my Gaelic heritage I reckon!) that goes red and peely at the meerest thought of the sun. I like shade and Billy, as much as he likes to sunbathe gets very hot very quickly and spents the rest of the day acting like a grizzly toddler grizzling as it's too hot for a walk, because Mr W had the gall to go lay down on the bed and didn't take him too, because it's too hot to laze in the sun all day... its now 4:15pm so the poor lad can go out again and as I see the trees shimmering in the north sea breeze I will let him out. He'll find a spot in the shade and go to sleep, waking up to bark insanely at people who have just got off the bus and are walking home. I'm hoping to see some of the little blue butterflies Mr W saw this morning and hope that the local residents decided against a trip into town today!

That's me then, Billy wants to loungeand a shady, breezy doorway sounds like heaven! Everyone, enjoy your weekends, hope you are all ok and hugs, hugs for everyone!

Hi Sue

Just catching up with all the comments and find that my earlier comment has disappeared into cyberspace! Will try again.

I like the design of the card but not too fussed on the colour, sorry. I am sure it is beautiful in the 'flesh' though. Looking forward to seeing all the CE team on the new channel. Hope you have more demo time than on C and C.

Congrats to Sandie. Enjoy!

Good evening lovely Sue and fabulous Wilsonettes,

Well, I'm aware that this colour choice hasn't been to everyone's taste but I think the soft pastel coloured custard card is simply divine. I bought it myself a couple of weeks ago and have to say that in reality and natural daylight it is creamy, luscious and feminine.
The contrast between the custard colour and the soft green of the foliage isn't as defined as I would imagine it to be in reality, some shades don't photograph as well as others I guess, but in saying that , I really love the design of your card and Johns stamp also deserves a mention. Oh, and nice to see the stick pins featuring again, I've missed them cos they add a touch of real elegance to the finished design.
I've had a manic day today, whilst I like to keep busy today has really taken the biscuit! Good news is that the boiler seems to be fixed so hot water flows again..yeah! A warm bath instead of a tepid endurance test:-)
Had my weekly caci treatment-guaranteed to make you look 10 years younger in the space of an hour....or in my case, less like Dot Cotton and more like Angelina Jolie.....I wish! Then I trotted off to M&S to get my little darlings their prawns for their supper-the cats get al a carte we get beans on toast:-) Finally, we had some unexpected visitors so I have literally just about drawn breath and settled down for a night catching up on the athletics...exciting, I know!
Beth, Maria, Theresa- sorry you didn't manage to get my comment yesterday, I posted it as normal in the morning and by mid afternoon it had disappeared!!?? I have no idea why, but it is nice to know someone caresxxxx
I was livid about your treatment by our anonymous contributor Beth, so I am glad you have chosen to dismiss their spiteful diatribe, there is no place for that kind of spineless vitriol on this wonderful blog and your posts are one of the most entertaining each day sweetie, and I for one look forward to reading themxxxx
Cheryl, hope your stall was well received, what a worthy causexxx
Rebecca, maybe you could get the new channel on the internet, and they also might post overseas too, fingers crossed. I am so excited about its launch next week..whoop..de...do!
Yvonne, I was courageous yesterday and went for the chop- I am hoping that I don't look butch and manly with my cropped tresses though, otherwise i May have to invest in a wig!:-)
Have a lovely evening everyone, hugs to allxxxx

Crafty hugs and kisses,

Laine 1972xxxxxx

Hi Sue. Todays card is beautiful !! I love the custard colour card you have used. The stamp looks lovely, I love the colours you have used to colour it in with. I really like how you have decoupaged the Roses on the stamp. The St Lucia die is fab and produces such wonderful results. I am not to sure about the mica mask. I am not sure if I like pattern of it. I have several beautiful masks I could use instead to recreate this beautiful card. The ribbon and dazzler are great and your stick pins are really beautiful Sue !! Thanks for sharing a really great card today Sue.
I am sorry Sue but I cannot even remember if I commented on your gorgeous Christmas cards yesterday. I can remember seeing them but that is all !! If I didn't I would like to say that I absolutely loved them both. The first card that you used navy blue and white for with the Noble Dies is one of my absolute favourite Christmas cards that you have made to date !! I really fell in love with it !! And it was not even in the Traditional Christmas colours that I usually like or use !! I love the other card to. Especially the stamped part and the lovely big ribbon. Thank you so much Sue for sharing all these Wonderful cards with us.
I have heard the news about the new Crafting channel and I really cannot wait to see all my favourite Creative Expressions demonstrater's on TV !! Sue, you are of course at the top of the list as I so love all your work !!
Sending you lots of love and hugs today Sue from Tres x x x

Sandie, congratulations to you for winning Sue's Wonderful Wednesday giveaway card !! Lots of love from Tres x x x

Sending lots of love and hugs to all the Wonderful Wilsonettes today from Tres x x x

Hi Sue, I was sure I had left a comment this morning but I think I may have just been distracted and forgotten. I love custard! John's stamps are lovely but I am not too sure about the colour you have used for the roses, it may just be my computer and I am sure it looks perfect in real life.

Congratulations Sandie on being the Wednesday Winner. You may not get much crafting done for looking at and stroking your card :-)
