Good Sunday morning all! Another of my favourites from the last set of shows I did in October (seems like ages ago!). I went a bit retro on this one and pulled out the mica powder sets to have a play. I stamped the
Autumn Swirls Background stamp by Justrite using a
clear Perfect Medium pad on to black card. Using the
Golden Winter mica set, I dusted various colours from the set on to the stamped background, giving the piece a very autumnal look. Once dusted, remove any excess with a tissue and a light circular motion. The
Cosmic Shimmer mica products have a binding agent in them so they are fixed when they mix with the embossing ink. I cut a strip of black card and scored it vertically for the bottom half of the card. On another sheet of black card, I stamped several of the leaves from the
Shabby Chic Autumn Leaves set by Justrite and embossed them with
black detail powder. Using the same mica set, I picked up some of the mica with a wet paintbrush and worked it into a paste on my craft sheet. I applied several of the colours on the leaves to give them a bright look. I cut them out by hand and glued them to the edge of the card between the two sections.I added a
crystal sparkler with a
black jute bow as an accent. I stamped my sentiment from the
What I Like About You sentiments set by Justrite (designed by Becca Feeken) and cut it into a flag, matted it with black and tucked the end under my leaves. I finished the card with a double pierced mat and added a thin black mat in the middle for emphasis. A truly simple but stunning card for any occasion. Finished dimensions are 7" x 7 3/4" in size.

Morming Sue, up early enough to make an early comment! I love this card, gold and black - my favourite colour scheme although I never seem to make cards with this colour scheme myself. Must get the black card out and use it up - I have quite a large stash of it! I have the stamp set and all the other ingredients so no excuse really!
I'm off to the loccal craft shop today to a session with Steve Martin, so will not be doing much today, although I have an 8 page memory card to finish for tomorrow to take to a work colleague for her 16 year old daughter, all ready just got to print off, assemble, embellish and box up - sound easy now!

Oh what can I say, this card just made me take a sharp intake of breath its sooo stunning, at first look I thought it was guilding flakes until I read it was mica, I dont have any mica at all so I must try and treat myself to a pot, could anyone please advise me on what colour to get that I would get MOST use out of (not a set) as I cant stretch to a set but one particular colour that would be used on most coloured card - thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Sue, this card truely shows autumn in all it's glorious colours , stunning love the way you have used the mica powders, I must be doing something wrong, yesterday I replicated your angel card from Friday but when I tried to dust the stamped image for the background it just smudged and ended up looking a bit of a mess so in the bin it went and I did it again but embossed it instead the card still came out lovely but can't seem to use mica powders right any help anyone? .Thanks Sue for another beautiful card.

Absolutely fab card - just love the mica powders on black. Am looking forward to seeing Julia later. I notice a couple of your followers are having trouble applying them - my tip is to lightly dab on the powder at first and then very lightly brush it over the image to cover it. I found if you brush or rub to hard at first because the ink isn't dry it smudges. Hope this will be of use to someone.

Hi Sue. WOW what a gorgeous card today !! I love both these stamp sets and bought the bundle after seeing your beautiful samples from your October show. ( It was my birthday and I bought it with the money I got.) I was actually going to make something similar to this card for my friends birthday at the end of this week. I am going to make a matching box to go with the card as my Mum has made our friend a beautiful beaded necklace and matching bracelet !! All in lovely autumn colours which are her favourite !! I absolutely love this card. The mica powders look fantastic on black card. I must give this a try. I like the score lines on the bottom of the card to. At first glance I thought that this card had been done with gilding flakes, its so shiny and bright. I love using mica powders and the effect here is stunning. The leaves are equally impressive and the overall look is fab-u-lous!!

This would not be my favourite card , however there are aspects of it and techniques which I love. I love the dazzler - have some and they are lovely. Television did not do them justice. Also like gilding and sentiment. Just too dark for me overall. Julia's Shows were very good yesterday. Not seen today's as yet. Sunday a busy day! I know it's supposed to be a day of rest but not for Mums and Grandmas!
