Morning all! Today's card showcases a fun technique called "Black Magic." You need to start with a piece of black card and use a silhouette type of stamp. I have picked the "Let Your Soul Sing" set by Justrite stamps for this. Using the large branch, ink it with a Snowcap Adirondack pigment ink pad and stamp it on your black card. I stamped it twice, leaving an area for my sentiment to be placed later on. Now, you just need to colour over your stamped image using pencils, but the white base gives you a cool chalky look. You will colour in the image so you can no longer see the original white ink stamped portion. I coloured the flowers with a pink pencil and used some yellow in the centres, then lined the branches and leaves in green. Next you use a white gel pen to go around the image to make it pop. I lined all the flowers, but decided to leave white dots along the branches and leaves for interest. I stamped my sentiment (Justrite)on black card using a clear perfect medium pad, then heat embossed it with white powder. I cut it out with the oval die from Vintage Labels Four by Justrite and inked through the die with my Snow cap ink before removing it. I cut a larger white oval (from Vintage Labels Four) on which to mat it and added it with foam pieces to my card. I finished the card by adding three flatback pearls to the upper corner, then my double white pierced matting layers. It is a really relaxing technique if you enjoy colouring and the results are so pretty in person! Hope you like it. Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.

Pretty card, not sure about the black for a get well card but could use plum or navy to get similar effect.

GM Sue -never seen or heard of this techique before so it's new to me - my initial reaction is 'not for for me', but it could grow on me. I am not a great fan of oriental style so perhaps that partly why also?... Will keep looking at it. Very different though.

Hi Sue, my 1st attempt at adding my comment to your wonderful blog so I hope it works ! If only I had a small amount if your talant id be extatic ! Your cards are second to non and you give so much inspiration to all your followers. This card is beautiful and yet again makes me long for all vard and tools required to make such a wonderful piece of work. Im just trying to save for a machine to cut A4 as my BS limits me size wise so much, then time to save for more SB and JR dies and stamps. In the meantime i'll just oooo and arrrr over the cards you add, and look forward to watching you again next time you are on Cc.
Hi Sue,
what a great card, going to try this technique later, thanks for the inspiration,
Hugs

I've made cards using acrylic paints which gives this effect.
I do like the card but not sure Get Well is the sentiment I would use.

Today's card is so beautiful, delicate and different from normal. The colourful pencils have done a lovely job on the flowers and the white gel dotty outline makes the card less stark. It looks oriental and that genre seems to be making a big comeback.

Catching up with you after a few busy days. Two videos to watch - such a treat. Love today's card and the techniques used. Black Magic takes on a whole new meaning. I always think of the box of chocolates with very sickly fillings which my son used to give me bless him. (I never had the heart to tell him). I don't think they are made anymore - just aswell! X
Striking card. Don't think I'd use black for a get well card but I'd like to try this technique.
