Sew, What's New?

Hello crafters!  Here's a fun card for all of those sewing fans out there!  I selected some decorative papers from my craft stash (I think they were Graphic 45)  I cut two bases from one of them using the Slimline Stitched Rectangles.  I cut a slit into the side of the top one of them and turned the patterns to face each other.  Next I used the Sewing Accessories die set and cut the large scissors out of black card.  I used a silver paint pen to colour the blades and attached them into the cut slit. I folded back the paper like it was fabric being cut through and glued it down.   I die cut two of the spools out of milk card and inked them with Antique linen, then wrapped them with Bakers Twine and attached them to the side of the card.  I cut the old fashioned sewing machine in black and added it with foam to the bottom of the card.  I cut two patches out of the decorative card and glued them to the top of the card.  Using the Sew, What's New? sentiment, I cut it out of milk card and used a black die cut as a shadow, mounting it behind.  I glued the sentiment to the top of the card on top of the two patches.  The card was completed with milk card and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 4 3/4"  x  9 1/4"   in size.    All for now,   Sue x

Morning Sue. What can I say - when you thought of launching your new slimline dies you thought of all your dies and as always every die works together. I've made the decision that when the time is right and I'm confident enough to return to market I'm going to invest in a couple of these slimline frames make smaller cards and trial them to see how they sell as I have so many of your accessory dies for the shadow box collection and I feel they are getting lost amongst the larger die collections so at the moment I think I have a longterm plan, in the meantime I'll enjoy all the beautiful pretty cards being uploaded from all corners of the globe. Have a peaceful Monday stay safe stay well and keep crafting xxx ❤

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, how amazing is this, what a gorgeous creation and love all the patterned papers you have chosen to make this. I am sure I have the sewing die set, so will have to check my register, I think this is both suitable for a male or female, after all they do say that the best taylors are men, or they did when I was younger, ha ha.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Hi Sue and everyone, its been snowing here last night and Ive awoken to a blanket of white everywhere. Sadly im not a snow lover.
Anyway what can I say this morning that hasn't already been said. What a fab and fun card. I actually thought it was fabric at first glance. I haven't seen this dies before. I think it was before I started crafting again and before I found your amazing products and blog.
Hugs to all who need them today, stay safe all Donna xx

Good Morning Sue and all.
I immediately thought of my Mum (who has been dead for more than 65 years) when I saw this card. As a child, my Sister and I started our days picking up bits of fabric and pins etc. off the floor and those scissors on your card opened up the memory box. Mum was a dressmaker and was always busy. I just love the way you have presented your card. Those scissors look so real and I have a pair just like them. Where do you continue to get your inspiration Sue?
Happy memories
Marie P.

Hi Sue
Happy cold, snowy and white Monday everyone x
Wonderful card. Have ‘sew’ many friends who this would be perfect for x
I am not and never have been someone who can get my head or my fingers round sewing. I would have loved to have been one of those hugely talented people who could knock together a ball gown out of a pair of curtains and a ball of string, but sadly it was not to be. I can sew on buttons and that’s about it!
I am just loving all things DL. I think these new dies slimline will help us put to use a lot of the older dies we have in our collections and give them and us a new lease of life. I just wish mine would arrive x

Hi Sue,

So cleverly done, this great card. It reminded me of the days when I made all my own clothes, staying up all hours to “just finish this bit..... and just as well do that bit....”. Sadly, my sewing machine hasn’t seen the light of day in many years! It’s die cutting and embossing machines now!

Hi Sue and the Wilsonettes

I love this card and shall be straight off after this to find these dies. As a collector and user of vintage sewing machinesI just need them. They'd make super tags for homemade gifts and labels for the boxes that I keep all my sewing related things in, as well as cards. My mum made my primary school uniforms on an early Singer 28k (I have one in my collection) and the machine has many similarities with the shape of your die.

I still enjoy looking at the blog, this is rare day that I have some extra energy. I still have Billy (11 ½) and at his age he does need a little extra care. He's earnt it bless him.

Lots of snow here in Suffolk, only 10/ 11 miles from the coast so lots of it here. Wheel chairs and snow don't mix so I'm staying put!

I hope everyone is safe and warm. I hope crafting has given you comfort this last year if you've struggled with not going out (it's my default so I've been ok with it).

Take care, stay safe. Hugs, T x

Hi Sue, a great card. I love the way the scissors are cutting the 'fabric' and your patches look as though they had been cut with pinking shears - clever. I learnt to sew on a machine like yours but boy was I glad when mum got an electric one.

Wheely - how lovely to see you and to learn that Billy is still going strong, you are often thought about.
