Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi bloggers!  Another Christmas card for a giveaway, I do hope you don't mind.  The top portion of this card was created by using a piece of black gloss card larger than the finished size and coated it with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue.  I took the tops off of the Pixie Powders and used a brush to pick up colour and tap all over the card.  I used Purple-Violet, Midnight Blue and Rich Gold for this background and repeated the same process with each of the colours until the glue was completely covered.  I spritzed it lightly with water, ust enough to dampen the powder so it wouldn't blow away when heated.  Next I used the heat tool to make the glue bubble. This process does take a bit of time, but keep heating untik the bubbling stops.  You have actually just cooked the glue until it is more or less firm and almost dry.  Do be careful touching it until it cools and this is why I suggest to start with a slightly larger piece of card so you can use the edge to grasp it when finished.  Once cool, cut to the desired size using a paper cutter.  I embossed a piece of coconut white card for it to attach to and show at the bottom of the card using the Ice Crystals embossing folder.  I cut a thin strip of bright gold card and wrapped it around as a border between the top and bottom of the card.  I cut the Illuminated Angel striplet out of white gloss card then backed it with bright Gold card and attached it to the centre of the card with mounting foam.  I cut a large poinsettia out of white gloss card and seated it on the side with a metallic thread bow.  The card was completed with white and gold mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.  Leave a comment to be included in the drawing to win this one!  All for now,
Sue x

Pearl, good news that Dave is feeling better, having chest problems and breathing difficulties is very scary especially when told you won't see 25. He will need to take care with the weather turning cold.

Morning Sue. Why would we mind a festive giveaway for goodness sake, any original Sue Wilson work of art no matter the subject is priceless to us, so go ahead, we appreciate everything you do to allow us own some of your work.
It may be just me but at a quick glance the background looked like various shades of building flakes, is it because I use my phone to enter particraft so it gives a different look, I'm not sure. So when I read it was the new pixie powders (which I don't own) I was amazed. I've only ever seen them used on a tv demo or like today on a still photo, never in 'real life' I don't think I'm imaginative, talented enough, or artistic enough to use these powders as they should be used and unfortunately I don't know if time allows me to try and watch a tutorial at the same time out a card together... saying that you have explained today's background so we'll I may go and get 2 later after my bloods and flu jab. I have the black gloss card, so if I can get a gold powder plus one other I you may have just tempted me to try ! I don't have the room or right coloured carpet to do the 'poof' pixie powder technique like you did with Hayley lol but I can use an ice cream tub spoon to sprinkle or top of a brush. I love the effect you have made for this card, oh I DO hope they don't become addictive lol I still need the rest of my Piecered Nobles before you bring anymore out lol. Let's be brave Wendy, this doesn't look too complicated lol.
I will finish with my usual virtual hug to you Sue, I can pretend it's a real one lol. Wish our June lots and lots of luck for tomorrow in case you don't have time to pop in before you leave the house in the morning. It won't be long before you are mobile again and start to get your health back so you can treat hubby to breakfast in bed. My neighbour had both done within 5 months, was able to excersise after years of pain, now out of her wheelchair and on course to buy a size 16 dress from a 24 ready for December and she's middle 60's oh and now non diabetic due to weight loss because she feels so much better since her new hips, so lots of hugs to you too June.
Have a good day Sue xxx

Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a treat to have the opportunity to adopt this stunning creation as it features a truly inspiring technique that many of us watched you demonstrate in awe on Hochanda recently. Its always more exciting for me to have the chance to win one of your christmas creations because they are my most favourite of all your designs, i simply cant get enough of them:-) I like to think that i am adventurous and open to new ideas but something about this technique scares me slightly...its the thought of burning the card or pixie powdered glue. But i promise to give it a try because the results are brilliant...it makes a lovely night sky background that would work so well with many of your new and old festive dies. The angel striplet is beautiful in the gloss card, as are the poinsettias, i really think that i might give this card a go:-)
Well ladies, today hasn't gone quite to plan, my Mum spent all night awake in anticipation of her transport arriving, which it did, as planned, however when she had her procedure attempted the doctor was unable to drain the cyst as it was too deep for his needles...its in her groin area which is a dodgy place to reach at the best of times but on this occasion almost impossible. She was rescheduled for next week when they will try again but seemingly if the cyst contains jelly instead of fluid they still wont be able to drain it:-( She's in a lot of pain and very tired by the 50+ mile round trip, hopefully she'll get a decent nights sleep tonight.
My scooter in being operated on as we speak, round one was a failure because what we thought had caused the puncture, a thorn from a bush that my mum ran over, was patched up and returned only for the tire To continue to deflate!!??! So James is checking for other punctures and tutoring his son at the same time, hopefully it will be all systems go now though, the world is my oyster!
June, so glad that your cold has shifted, full steam ahead now with the operation tomorrow:-) Good luck, i'll be thinking of you...hopefully after a bit of physio you will be like a new woman!
Myra & Maureen, we've had no reports of disturbances in the Carlisle area as yet but im still waiting in anticipation:-)
Diane, boy that was an early start, rather you than me:-) hope you have recovered enough for your little shopping trip, sounds like loads of fun, I'm well jealous:-)
Be jay, hope that your pain is easing now, you've really been through the wars lately, bet that you're totally uninsurable!
Elaine, sorry to hear that Andrew is suffering, it must take a lot of adjustment when you have to experience such aggressive treatment, hope he feels better soon and manages to find ways to cope.
Tina, hugs to you and Peter
Tracy, you sound really positive about going back to work now, maybe its the right time? Hope your appointment at the doctors works out well for you. Hugs and you go girl!
Yvonne, missing our chats honey, hope that you will feel up to it by the end of the week after a couple of days rest in your own bed. Wishing safe travels for your mum and dad. How's George getting on in his new job....gosh, so much to ask, it will be one long chat:-)
Hugs to my besties, Pam, P, Pat, Deb C, Maria, THeresa, Lorraine, lynda, Linda, Beth, Wheely and anyone i may have forgottenxxxx

Hi Sue and everyone

A lovely card today. So much to take in. Loving the new embossing folder. I also really like the poinsettias made from shiny gloss card. Not tried this. However, I am a little nervous around my poinsettia dies after one of them attacked me! Lol. The angel striplet looks great against the bright gold card too.

Thank you Pam for your comment. X

June, I wish you well for tomorrow, I will be thinking if you, along with most other Wilsonettes I suspect and wishing you a speedy recovery. X

Tracy, so glad things are going well for you. Only you will know if the time is right to return to work, but you seem positive and ready to get your life back. Good for you. X

Laine, hope you get your scooter fixed at last, and that your mother will get sorted next week. No wonder she is shattered with that journey. X

Yvonne, sorry Princess Pixie, I hope you've had a great time and enjoyed catching up, but can get back into your own routine again soon...and your bed. x

Bejay hope you are felling better. Hope you don't mind being compared to me by P in Wales, I'm just clumsy, but I'm sure you're not. X

Still have to catch up, but wish everyone well.

Love Helen xxx

Very pretty card. I do like the colourful background. Both you and Julia have shown me how easy is is to do ..... so why can't I do it like you two? Ah well, I guess I shall just try, try and try again!!! Then, perhaps, I shall produce something as lovely.

Hi Sue

Fabulous card, if only I could have that background as fabric, wallpaper, pretty much anything! It's awesome and I'm looking forward to trying some of these techniques asap. Makes for a stunning card, big hugs x

Big hugs and thoughts for those who are ill or who have friends or family ill. Good luck to those undertaking a new challenge. You are all in my thoughts and I shall message properly when I'm better able to xxx

Despite almost succeeding opening the door in the vets office and trying to leave during the drop off consultation (surgeons face was a picture!) Billy's op was a success, the cruciate had only half torn so not too much damage to the inner workings of his knee, certainly not as much as first feared but we got our timing as right as we can to stop the chance of further trauma. The surgeon rang soon as it was done and they've rung me twice more with updates. Though drowsy he is charming the nurses and has been eating chicken for tea so I know he's ok. Billy, like most guys will only not eat if there's a real problem. Surgeon will ring tomorrow and if Billy's still in a lot of pain he'll stay an extra night, if it can be managed by oral medication he can come home. Me, Mr and the support worker are getting everything ready for him to come home tomorrow. Should've been done before but I've flaked at least once last 3 days.

I'm so sorry it's a quick message everyone, first of all thank you so much for all the kind messages we've had over the past couple of days regarding Billy, Mr & myself, it's meant such a lot. I read through yesterday but ran out of juice before I could comment. I will thank you all personally soon as I can. I don't know if it's the stress, the extra travel over the last week and a bit or what (probably the lot!) but pain and headaches are hitting hard so typing is not easy but I knew there were those waiting to hear about "little" dog. I'll update soon as I can and thank you all again for caring xxx

Wishing good things to you all,

T x

Basically EVERYTHING is covered in glitter!! Good job I love shiny, glittery things eh?

Lovely card, haven't got this die, and it'd be lovely to win one of yours. I have shamelessly copied several from the Cosmic shimmer YouTube channel and they've always been received with excellent reviews. Thanks for the inspiration!
