Belgian Background Sunday

Good Sunday morning all!  I found a couple of cards that both use the Belgian Background for today's double day showing.  First up, I cut the Belgian Background out of the Classic Elegance paper.  I backed it with vellum for a soft look, then cut the centre of it out.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension.  Next I cut the decorative die from the Antwerp out of coconut white card.  I seated the background over it, then added a piece of wisteria card behind it.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out and mounted it in the centre of the card.  I used Wax paper to cut several of the Exquisite poppies to add around the centre and I tied a bow with some purple Bakers Twine and added it below the sentiment.  I completed the card with white and wisteria mats  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

For card number two, the Belgian Background was cut out of coconut white card twice, leaving the cutting edges out until the very centre one.  I placed a thin strip of mounting foam between them but added more on the bottom to raise the overall background.  I stamped my sentiment and added it to the aperture in the centre.  I used the Background Noble Rectangles to add a frame around it.  On a separate piece of white card, I added a sticky sheet, then peeled the backing off and coated it with silvery mica powder.  I added the background over the mica  piece so it showed through from the front.  I finished the piece with a simple white on white mat with piercing.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/2" in size.

The winners of this week's Comment Game are:

Marion Bull!!!
Shirley T!!!
Ivy Cheong!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.   All for now, Sue x

Sunday Smiles to you Sue. What gorgeous cards you have for us today, I just love how you give us the option to use the same die set in several different ways. Why some designers think it's ok to ask a fortune for their dies when they have one use and one use only disgusts me, even down to the smallest of dies in a 5 die set can be used for decoration or to hold a sentiment with your collections and that's a sign of someone that crafts and knows exactly what we need and want from our dies. Two really pretty cards Sue. Hope you managed to speak with Heather at some point yesterday and that she had a wonderful birthday.
We are out to celebrate with our daughter her wonderful hubby and our adorable Lottie Beth as it's the first of many birthday parties today, so much has been organised for the young one's there is a big organisation called Baby Foundations that Lou took her baby too as the months went by, it's a development fun type play with songs and actions for mummy and child, so they have been asked to go, quite a few babies from Lou's group are going too, soft play and ball pool, so after all the time and effort our daughter has put in organising this day I just hope it goes well ! Mind you, all this for a first birthday that won't be remembered by Lottie - let's say our age must be showing because we've had our own thoughts about this and I dare say those of our age that read this may be on the same page lol but if that's what mummy and daddy want who are we to object lol but it will be so lovely to see her with her baby friends.
I've rambled on enough so I'll congratulate the 3 winners of the comment game, thank you for some absolutely beautiful inspiration which I've quickly run through and will watch properly tomorrow, and leave you with my usual hug for the day xxx

Good morning Sue and crafters all,
Two beautiful cards today, love them both!!!
The wax paper poppies look so pretty and what an unusual way of using was paper!!!!
The mica background is another way of using card bits up and adhesive sheets.

Loved you Hochanda shows, lovely demo's and tips. Nice one giving the presenters workout jobs using the Platinum machine.
Congratulations to this weeks winners!!!!!
Well Peter is ok at the moment, no Drs or hospital appointments this week so that makes a change. Only a funeral on Friday of a very old friend, an Irish lady that came over to the UK to work as a nurse, as here family wouldn't let her carry on being a midwife over there she was 94 years old.
Peter is fed up because the Sky tv keeps breaking up, and it is Thursday afternoon before we can get an engineers visit!!!!!!
Pam you are so kind with all your lovely comments.
June Smith, well girl hope you have got rid of your cold, as operation date is getting nearer.
Love and crafty hugs to all who need them,

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, I so enjoy double days (I'm greedy really) and you have spoiled us today with these 2, I think no 2 just edges it for me, I love your papers and the die compliments them. Hope you managed to speak to Heather yesterday and that she enjoyed her birthday and is safe and well. I have so enjoyed all your shows on Hochanda and am doing some instructions for the ones I want to make.

Steph, you I know where you are coming from regarding Lottie and her birthday parties, although she will not remember it I am sure there will be loads and loads of photos that can be shared with her as she grows up and may even show her own children, lovely keepsakes, hope they have a wonderful time.

Tina T and Peter, pleased that all going to plan. Sorry to hear about the funeral for a friend this week, even though she was 94 it is still sad.

Pam yes hopefully the cold is going, only 4 days to go now, at least I don't look like Rudolph with the red nose, maybe if I don't talk too much they may not notice I have had a cold, - my hubby thinks they will cancel it when they see me.

Maureen and George, Happy Golden wedding anniversary.

Hugs to Tina and Mick, Elaine and Andrew, Bejay (hope you are feeling better), Tracey and anyone else I have forgotten.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Two very nice cards today, Sue, love that Belgian background. Think preferring the second, really like the simple elegance of it. Saw some of the shows and will watch rest on catch up - all enjoyable and some nearly sell-outs (or perhaps sell-outs as didn't see later shows) so well done you.
Fluffycat Frances - so sorry, didn't see your post yesterday. Do hope your husband is getting on well, a frightening thing to happen.
Lorraine F - glad the mojo came back, think we all go through 'quiet' crafting times occasionally!

Both very pretty cards Sue, and though its lovely to see new designs, I just love when something is made with dies I already own. I will certainly have some fun with these two trying to put my own slant on them. I hate to copy another persons designs, but love when they make me think "outside the box" to create something new of my own.
Unfortunately I missed this weekend shows as we have been on holiday for two weeks and Hochanda does not show programs more than 7 days ahead. I have however got the shows from the weekend we went and the middle weekend (fingers crossed) and I may get to see some of this weekends shows on catch up - I do hope so.

Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

A double delight for today using the same principal die whilst achieving very different results. The colour tones of the first card are soft and delicate aided by your beautiful paper pad. I love the effect of the flowers also, very fragile looking. Im a big fan of using vellum on a card, it really ups the sophistication and professional results are a given. The tone on tone nature of the second card makes the mica powder background all the more eye catching. Quite a CAS card, but very effective. Both cards are stunning and show the diversity of your dies. Many thanks for a valuable double day.
Well, i have really enjoyed watching your shows this weekend, im feeling spoiled now because its been four weeks in a row and im quite getting used to seeing you on our screens again....then you go and desert us again for sunnier climes, how could you, self, self, self!:-)
But seriously Sue, we so appreciate the effort that you have put in on our behalf this past month, you have worked like a dog:-), on the plus side is that now i am armed with plenty of ideas for my own festive creations.....though my bank account has taken a sever pounding in the process! I hadn't realised that there was to be another show with John next weekend....I'll really have my work cut out for me persuading my Mum to let me buy more dies when i have already spent a small fortune on what i like to call essentials:-( Any ideas that could be implemented without breaking the law would be appreciated:-)
Im still being driven....no pun intended...to distraction by the breakdown of my scooter. Its a lifeline when you struggle to walk any distance and therefore, not having it at my disposal is a nightmare. We waited all week for our neighbour to pump the tire...not his fault, he was poorly:-(....only to discover when i went to use it that we had in fact a puncture! Our Good Samaritan said that if we had any problems he would fix them but he's been AWOL all weekend.....i know, im sounding really impatient now, I don't mean to seem ungrateful though, im sure i can wait a few more days at a push, either that or get a taxi!
Maureen, congrats, what a milestone! Glad you are enjoying the celebrations, have a wee gin on me to celebrate...go on, you know you want to:-)
P, another foster baby to add to the list, will you ever be able to give them up when the time comes though, i know I couldn't! You're such a real softy, i darent ask just how many fur babies you actually have, i'd only be jealous:-) You must have a season ticket and executive box at the vets:-)
June, glad that you're feeling a bit better but don't be too upset if you have to miss your operation, its more important that you are fully fit for the anesthetic, fingers crossed though.
Wheels bad, hope you are okay?
Yvonne, sorry we couldn't have a chat the other night, hope you're feeling a bit brighter, you know where i am when you need brought back down to earth with a bump or two:-) Love to Kath and those handsome boys of yoursxxxx
Frances, sorry to hear about your hubby, i hope his recovery is swift, take care, you know where we arexxx
Huge hugs to my besties, maria, Pat, Pam. Theresa, tracy, lorraine , linda, lynda, beth, rebecca, DEb C, myra, maureen, norah and all the galsxxxx

Both card are beautiful. Who else would have thought to make flowers from wax paper? They are gorgeous.
Take care everyone.

Hello Sue and all
the Belgian background is exquisite and just can't pick between these two cards but am definitely ordering this die, too lovely.
Have been away for the weekend so will catch up on comments over the next couple of days

Hi Sue, I love these two cards and bought the Belgium collection earlier this year so I thought that I would copy the first card and make it myself.I have found though that the Antwerp die that I have got does NOT fit inside the centre of the background die. The background die covers the two long patterned edges of the other die, have you any suggestions how I can make it work.
