It's A Double Day!

Hi guys!  Today's double day is a bit more whimsical in nature.  I'm starting with this inlaid Let It Snow card.  I cut the Let It Snow die out of a piece of coconut white card.  I embossed the aperture piece with the Frosty Swirls embossing folder.  I put a piece of acetate across the back of the aperture, then glued the Let it Snow die cut back into place so it was flush.  I added mounting foam to the back of the card and used a piece of deep turquoise card behind it.  I used the Create a Flake snowflake and made three snowflakes to add around the card.  For the snowflakes, I did a bit of a sketchy technique and it is a bit difficult to describe, but I cut a piece of both white and turquoise card at the same time (the white closest to the cutting edge of the die).  The white cuts out completely, but usually only the outline of the second colour cuts.  I removed the fall away from the white and allowed the turquoise to show through and glued the two pieces together (this also gave me a solid area to add mounting foam to the back)  I say it is "sketchy" as it doesn't always work well with every die.  Sometimes you have to tape the back colour back into place and sometimes it won't cut completely through the outline so it is a bit hit or miss.  I added flatback pearls to the Let it Snow and the stars in the background as well as the centres of the snowflakes.  I completed the card with my usual pierced white mat (using my piercing ruler), a thin turquoise mat and a wider white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

Card number two is a bit more contemporary in it's styling.  I started with a piece of red and white polka dotted paper from my stash (from Canvas Corp) and cut it into a large square and matted it with a thin white edge mat.  Using the Holly Accessory Kit dies, I cut a bunch of the large solid holly in white and then cut a matching number and size of the outline holly in white and glued them together.  I arranged them in a wreath shape (I love wreaths!) and glued them to my background.  I added a few of the Holly berries in white then used red Stickles to make the berries on them.  I cut an Itty Bitty Classic bow in red and used a large pearl for the centre and mounted it in the corner of the wreath.  I stamped my sentiment in black on a larger piece of white card and mounted the wreath above it.  Using the smallest dies in the Classic and Filigree Poinsettia die set, I created two small flowers to add to the card around my sentiment.  I finished up with a white pierced mat, a thin red mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are
6 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  How are your Christmas cards coming along??  I hope you have enjoyed today's Christmas two-fer!  All for now,Sue x

Good morning Sue and everyone. Two very different but both WOW cards. Have a friend who would love the contemporary feel of the second card, but I think I am leaning towards the first as a favourite. Can't wait to see your new dies in action - hope that you have some blogs planned soon for them. Hope that you are enjoying time with your Mum and have all your Thanksgiving prep done.
Hugs to all in pain. Sue xxx

Hi Sue and all friends here at Particraft. What, no flakes or sticky adhesive sheet ? Phew : )

I was really hoping to secretly adopt the snow die from my local craft heaven Wednesday, but it had been adopted elsewhere, its such a pretty die and your 1st festive treat is so delicate, I love that pop of colour.
Now I do have the holly die, and Im probably the only numpty here that.didnt think of using it to make a wreath ! Well Sue, thank you for waking up my brain, its lush. Both cards today would fill any home with festive joy.
To those donating via phone ot text tonight for children in need - beware phone calls asking for more money after your donation ! I recently donated to cancer during the night long program and felt Id helped just a little, then came the call asking to donate each month, they started to 'bully' it really spoilt the fact that Id done a small amount to help the charity. So from now on we will donate our way and not because 'celebs' ask us to !
Have fun if you are taking part in fun raising tonight and wrap up warm.
Sending caring hugs to our friends that are unwell, or feeling low. Hope life is kinder to you ALL very soon.
Have a wonderful day.
Love you.

Two interesting wee techniques in the first card, Sue, with the acetate to hold the word stamp in and the double cutting of the snowflakes, must try those. Do like the second but am absolutely certain I'd never have the patience to stick the little outlines to the solid holly leaves, but it sure is effective! The little bow looks great on the wreath. A lovely card.

morning Sue
Two beautiful gifts for a two fer Friday. Another week gone by and now I'm getting frazzled.
I have to say that I do love the first offering although I can just see the red spotty one being just right for the younger end of our crafters.

I really do not know what happened to my piece yesterday but when I looked back it wasn't there. I know that half way through all our power went off which is quite normal here particularly in Autumn/Winter when more is pulled off but everything came back on OK so perhaps it was 'Mr Tidy Dobby' who didn't like my pot.lol.

I particularly said yesterday that I wanted to warn you that there appears to be a Computer SCAM doing the rounds where someone rings and says that your computer is in danger as it has down loaded 'something that is not good for it'. This person is also very very persistent and just would not give up calling. He even put his senior technician on the line because according to him we did not understand what he was trying to tell us. They say that they are from WINDOWS but could not give us any confirmation or proof that they were nor when questioned cannot tell you what has been down loaded and more important how they have got your telephone number (particularly when it's one that only operates when you've given it out to people you want to call you). They finally stopped calling when they were threatened with us calling Windows etc and reporting them. So please be careful.

Hope that everyone is well and the same for all families and looking forward to the week-end.
It's our last Friday Market until our return after Christmas and then I still have lots of sorting to do so no crafting for me unless of course I can slip in a little on the cross stitch picture I'm doing. Will really have to buckle down to finish off my seasonal cards when I get back.

To all under the weather hoping you feel better soon. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Janet x

Now which one is my favourite? Hmmmmm ..... Neither! I couldn't chose because I love them both. I love the idea of putting acetate behind the aperture to hold the Let it Snow and your poinsetta dies I can't praise enough. The second card is so different from the first but equally as beautiful. I love that red spotted paper reminds me of a much loved dress I had lol. I've made so many Christmas cards for charity and all of them have either your holly or holly spray on, even when I've used your poinsettia dies I find room for one or both lol.

Hi Sue. I know I keep saying it but I really love these Christmas Double day Fridays. Both cards, although so different to each other, are gorgeous and I couldn't choose one over the other. After my decision at the beginning of the year to make at least one Christmas card a week I am happy to tell you that I have a grand total of......1!!!(and that was made about 3 weeks ago. I am busy cutting and making Poinsettias in reds and white and Holly leaves-from the Accessory Kit- in various greens so I will soon start to actually make some cards, but obviously not as many as I had planned. Oh well, I will try again next year to start earlier : )
Pam, be gentle and patient with your body and your mind. "Normal" will return. Thinking of you.
Sending my daily hugs to everyone. Take care.

Two stunners again from Sue's wonderful imagination and good morning to all, a wet, soggy one in my part of Somerset. Thank goodness the strong winds of yesterday have died down.
Reading the messages about Windows, As soon as you tell them they are scammers they certainly put the phone down quick.
I once strung someone along for about half an hour by pretending I knew the person involved (He did have the same name as a very good friend of mine so that did help the conversation take its course) He was trying his hardest to get me to stay on the subject he was ringing me about, but I continued to ignore him and asked about his wife and family and in the end he did go along with me until I went quiet and then he asked 'Mrs Brown are you still there', upon which I replied 'Hello who are you?' he told me his name again and I asked 'Do I know you?' and he replied 'No, not really', my response then was to say 'Well, I shouldn't really be talking to you as my doctor says I have senile dementia and I shouldn't speak to people I don't know but I don't think I am nuts, do you?' Upon which he finally gave in and said I was to have a good day and his company would not be ringing me again.
This whole conversation took place when my little craft circle was enjoying a session in my home, so they were almost wetting themselves laughing at how the conversation was along. I have tried this since but have not had the same hilarious effects.
Gentle healing hugs to all in pain whether it be physical or emotional.

It was only when they wanted information from me I used to say that I'd get my husband who was a Police Officer to handle all that side of the business. They hung up pretty quick at that!! Good Morning Sue & lovely craft friends,
I love both cards today, I think that the contemporary card maybe my favourite as I so love red and white, but I also am in love with 'let it snow', so the jury is out on this one, I saw the photo on Facebook of all of your new release dies waiting for distribution....how exciting! Xxx
Janet, I have had a few of those 'windows' calls, they get so annoying, one of the things that always tickles me is that they can barely string an English sentence together but will tell you their name us "Geoff" or "john" from windows! I tried keeping them on the line yo waste time and money, when I tried to seek advice the operator told me that they call via 'Skype' so it doesn't cost them anything! It amazes me that they are reaching you in France! Enjoy your last Market day, have the biggest, baddest pastry in the shop, wrap up warm for your return to UK as it is chilly! Hugs xxxx
Steph, you really made me chuckle yesterday, I could just picture you with gilding flakes stuck everywhere but on the sticky sheet thanks for the donating heads up, it's frustrating when you have a limited amount of money and you donate what you can afford and then they have the cheek to ask for more! I personally think that there are too many of these "telethon" type fundraising things at the moment, using harrowing films to 'guilt' you in to donating, I am sure that each and everyone of us has someone in their lives that gas been through something horrific, it doesn't change the fact that we have a limited amount of funds available to donate! It feels like there is something almost every week at the moment!
Barbiepinkfairy, you are going to be exhausted come Monday, but it sounds like a fun packed weekend, enjoy xxx
Pam, so lovely to see your comment once again, I long to see you back at the top, how are you managing with work? Sending you the gentlest big hug ever xxxx

Hi Sue,
Love both of these cards, especially the red polka dot one. One thing on the snowflake one- some of the die cut outs are not fully cut and am wondering how you accomplish it, or is it cut and laid back in and glued down?? Hope you understand what I mean.

Good afternoon Sue and all - I love both cards although I think the first card is my favourite.
My husband is great with theses Scam phone calls and most of the time they actually put the phone down on him. Like all the ideas that are coming out maybe between us we will break them one day.
Off to pick up a prescription to hopefully ease my various aches and pains. It's the end of the week and a weekend to look forward to although the weather doesn't look promising. To everyone have a good day and take care all Helen K xx

Hi Sue, sorry I missed commenting yesterday but the day just ran away from me and I think today is going the same way. Not sure about yesterday's card akthough I do usually like your petticoat cards. Love both of today's offerings and cannot choose between them, they are both lovely in different ways.
Will read all the comments and watch the video at the week-end.
Hope everyone manages to stay warm and dry, we have had torrential rain here all morning and I am not looking forward to driving home in it later.

Hi Sue and everyone.Love, love both cards, they are gorgeous. So good when you show us all different idea's we can do with our dies. Had a goodish day cutting out yesterday but then decided to use some embossing powder and thats when it's all went wrong,I just didn't like the outcome so now I will have to take a few days again until my attempt for anything again.

Cheryl and Maureen you both made me laugh just thinking of your phone conversations :-) I hate all these scammers for they can still get to you even with withheld numbers .

Good evening Sue and Wilsonette friends,
Both cards are beautiful Sue for different reasons and please both sides of my Gemini brain as well although the noisy half of isn't here as if you couldn't hear him, he was up to something he shouldn't be. I love the calmness and the soothing nature of the first card, but i love the bold bright "i'm here" of the second. Two beauties to grace anyone's home.
We have had the scammers calling us for a long time now and since speaking to my friend who when they ask for her son "Yes, certainly, i'll get PC Wallace for you" she called out to her son, but the line went dead. Now it just so happens her son is exactly that PC Wallace, so she wasn't telling any lies, but it is amazing just how quick your computer problem disappears at those innocent little letters.:) But Cheryl, i can see you are as daft as me and that is saying something, only because i have employed your tactic over many years of answering my friend's phone calls that she gets fed up answering at night every time she just gets settled down to eat, or have a cuppa. Only thing wrong was one night i was having my daft half hour when it was the bank manager on the phone for her husband who had been too lazy to answer it in the first place. The poor man on the othere end of the call thought he had called the local asylum for nutters by the time i had finished with him, oh well, he will say who he is first the next time.
Barbie, where did you get the pudsey onsies as they are right up my street, pleasse???? Boy are you going to be cream crackered by Monday with what you have on this week end. You are going to need the week off to recovery from the weekend's activities. Have fun with half pint.
Cameeli, see with your vision you have brought a new generation to the world of crafting. I am so chuffed for you that your club has been such a success and it will keep some of the streets that would may be out on them or give someone else who is more stay at home a reason to go out and perhaps bring a whole new way of life into them. WELL DONE Cameeli.
Well Angela, you have plenty of things to celebrate this week. I bet Master Tom is excited at his new status when it comes.
Well that rain has never halted up here at Glenochil, so we are going down to have a meeting with the ducks and swans that are enjoying the burst banks of the river Devon. I have been trying to sew up my friends Aran and all is fine except all the bits she has sewn have been sewn up in various different ways, every seam. I have had to take it all out and sew all the seams up the one way, but the band is way too long. 4 times i have tried to fit this in to the front of the cardigan but there is just too much of it. Will take it back like it is and she can sort that bit only because she will need to knit the buttonhole band to match up. I have just the sleeves of my matinee coat to crochet that i started the night before last, so i will leave you lovely people to have a lovely weekend and see you all tomorrow hopefully. Sending hugs to all my Angels in need, or that could just do with one. With my thoughts, prayers and hugs going out to my Angels not here at the moment,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue,
Love both of today's cards but I have to say that the first one wins it for me. I really do love everything about it!
Janet, we've had loads of these calls - one guy phoned me 4 times. As soon as I put the phone down, he rang back again. I told him it was illegal what he was doing as we are a tps number and he got very aggressive and rude. It was only when I told him I was going to visit someone in hospital who was seriously I'll that he finally stopped ringing. Normally I don't answer if it is International or withheld but at the time my dear mam was in hospital and if the hospital calls it is a withheld number. It certainly was a distressing time. Apparently, it can be a police matter if you tell them that you don't want anymore calls and they ring you again. It really does annoy me. Norah, I hope the weather improves for next week when we are visiting your lovely country again! Sending love and hugs to all who want/ need them. Love Alison xx
