Hello

Hello bloggers!  I have used a relatively new product for today's card.  It is the black version of our Glacier Ice and it is called Ebony Ice.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and used the inserts without the cutting edges from the Burgundy die set from my French Collection, situated in the top portion of the card.  I placed a piece of sticky adhesive sheet on the back and rubbed the Ebony Ice into the design area from the front.  I cut a larger piece of black card next and ran double sided tape around the edge and added the Ebony Ice to it as well.  I taped the white background piece to this after wrapping a piece of gold satin crushed ribbon around the bottom of the card.  I tied a double bow and added it to the side with glue dots.  I finished the bow with a black jute bow and a gold satin ribbon rose and two matching stick pins.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the middle die from the Auvergne die set.  Before removing it from the die, I inked it with clear Perfect Medium, then added gold embossing powder.  I wanted it to be a bit softer so before heating it, I used my finger to rub it away a bit.  I cut two more of the centres, one in black and one in gold and matted them behind by cutting down the centre and moving them outwards just a bit to act as a shadow.  I added foam mounting to the back to raise the sentiment tag for dimension.  I completed the card with a pierced white mat, then two thin mats, one black, one soft gold and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 3/4" in size.

The winner of the Wednesday Card Give away is:

Belinda Raven!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize!  Al for now, Sue x

Congratulations to Belinda!!

Hi Sandra, yes I too have to prove I am not a robot, I guess it stops Sue's blog being hacked by gremlins or a virus. I don't mind but it can be frustrating deciphering some of the words..

Pam, so glad you dropped in yesterday, I hope that you start to feel stronger with each day...

I saw the poppies at the Tower of London last Friday, they were amazing and spectacular, it was very moving.

Have a lovely weekend everyone

morning Sue
Such an elegant way to start the day. As you know I'm not all that sure re black unless it's on monochrome so I'm a little on the edge but will continue to look at it throughout the day to see if it grows on me. I love the format of the gift. Your Burgundy ies are still at the top of my list and are so beautiful to work with. I have your other black ice and just cannot get on with it. I just do not know why.

Cameeli - I have only seen pictures of the Poppies around the Tower but they truly look amazing and I too find it very emotional and that's from just pictures. Like most people our family lost loved ones in the first war and loved ones who suffered injuries from the second and then my Grandson joined the Army and has spent time in Afgan so these little flowers mean so very much.
Pam - lovely to see you yesterday.
Mrs B - hope you had a wonderful day yesterday with your daughter.
Sandra - Thank you we had a lovely meal last night. We were the only two in the Restaurant =which never seems to bother the French one little bit; we would think that it would not be worth opening up but no they open every day and evening. The Restaurant is about 15 minutes away from us on the main road to Chateau Chinon and is called 'Auberge du Bazois. The owners have been there for 25years so it is very well established and of course the food is lovly. We try and get out one evening while we're here and it doesn't matter what time of year; but it's always lovely to get back to a welcoming petite maison.
Norah - Oh how I wish I could see you in your new jumper. You already light up so many lives but that would be the icing on the cake - or should I say pudding. I just know you're going to be the bestist (my word) Nan on the planet.

Oh well it's that day when a little housework calls but not too much as crafting always comes first!!!! To all who have birthdays have a wonderful day. To all under the weather hope you feel better soon. To ALL take care and stay safe.
See you tomorrow.

Lovely design , still not sure about so much black.
Does anyone else have problems with the scoozie pad ( you know what I mean! ) when watching a demo of this they always say Be quite firm and it will bring out the shine, with mine it seems to make the gilding flakes duller, am I rubbing too hard or could it be the black card I was using it on?
Congratulations to Belinda on winning the Wednesday Card, enjoy!

So now its time to leave you with gentle hugs for those not feeling so good and warm wishes to those celebrating.

Good morning Sue & friends,
A very rich and opulent offering today, i must admit I do rather like the Ebony Ice, I must get some, it would also save using the iced snow all the time! We are all very excited about the new die range Sue, how long do we have to wait? Xxx
Cameeli, I am glad you got to see the poppies, my mum got to go on Wednesday and she was very 'moved' by the experience, we just haven't gotten round to going, I would love to have seen it up close, I thinks it's amazing that they have sold everyone of those poppies already! Hugs to you and Mari xxxx
Janet, your evening out sounded lovely, I guess it's probably a bit strange being the only customers in a restaurant, but I am guessing the are glad for the business, particularly when it's quiet at this tine of year, like you said I am surprised they don't close . Don't go mad with housework today, just sit and craft, I am sure the spiders will appreciate you leaving their webs for an extra day or so! I always feel a little guilty destroying their home as it's taken the hours to create!
That's the best excuse for not doing housework I can think of! Haha, hope your weather is brighter than ours today, if is very dull and looks like the heavens are about yo open, the girls have football again this weekend, so gingers crossed it stays dry for another hour of so! Enjoy your weekend, huge hugs xxxx
Steph you are making me hungry talking about roast beef and Yorkie Puds! You not going to NEC then? We used to go a lot but it's just too big and being in a wheelchair I just couldn't get close enough to the stalls to see any demo's, people sometimes seem to forget their manners and politeness, it was a bit "Everyman for himself" kind of environment, which surprised me as crafters aren't usually like that, a lot of people were going just for the tv presenters which I could never get my head around really, I kind of miss seeing all the lovely craft goodies, but don't miss the pushing and shoving, you just don't seem to get that at Ally Pally, it seems to have the perfect balance of stalls to space, so there is plenty of room to manoeuvre around and thankfully loads of places to sit and relax! It makes a huge difference x gentle hugs winging their way back to you Steph xxxxx
Sue, so glad you enjoyed your day yesterday xxx
Pat, you can put Ebony ice on the list if you were going shopping! Please xx
Brenda, Happy Birthday my lovely, I hope you have a fabulous day and get some nice surprises too xxxxx
Myra, Happy Birthday to you too, have you got anything nice planned? I do hope you get spoilt just as you deserve, big birthday hugs to you xxxxxx
To all my lovely crafting friends I am sending you big hugs,
Love

Good morning Sue and Wilsonette friends,
First:- IGNORE ROBOT thing and go through just like you have always done and it works.
Sue, what a beautiful card today in the white and black with just that hint of gold being used. I do like the soft gold card and beautiful ribbon as it looks luxurious and not gawdy like bright gold would do i think. The black crystal snow really enhances the depth of the black card. Thank you Sue for another beautiful piece of inspiration. Hugs to you and Mum.
Happy birthday Myra and Brenda, i hope that both you ladies have a wonderful day. Myra, i hope you enjoy your holiday to my beautiful part of the world and that you get some good weather while you are up here.
Oh Cheryl, you have had it rough this past few years but i hope that with your treatment that you will be at the finishing line for things that come and knock you for six. The chanty raslers or Bengal Lancers is what my daddy used to call useless trades people or people of any profession that couldn't do what they claimed and it has just always stuck and sometimes it is just what they are.
Well done Belinda upon winning this weeks beautiful card from Sue.
Janet(Ecco) did you have a nice time last night at dinner after for going your weekly treat? I hope that it was worth the sacrifice.
Glad you are back with us today Denise, but it can be murder when your back is deciding to play up.
Well after going around to try and find a Christmas jumper that would suit my personality the other day i finally found one in the men's section of Primark....a Christmas pudding with flashing currants, right up my street. I got a smaller one for Rory but his sister added her twopenny worth so it will need to go back. There was me thinking that it would be ideal for him "dressing up" for his Christmas party at the school, but oor Kirsten has other ideas. Oh well back to the drawing board with that one. I have been all over today just trying to find the rememberance day crosses for Jim and Dad, finally found them in Tesco. I wonder what happened to all the cadets selling them in the streets as at least then you could guarantee at least one of them would have them for you. it is so nice to see so many youngsters wearing their poppies. When i was getting them this morning i was speaking to the elderly gentleman that was on the stand asking where he had been and which battalion he had been in and he told me all about his time and that he lost his father in the last war and his grandfather in the previous one and then turned around and said that now he was just a boring old fart. I couldn't believe it. As i turned around and said to him, he had brought us peace with his heroics and never to consider that he has turned into that. Sometimes i wish that these young yobs could be given a taste of what life is really like on the frontier of peace. These elderly people have shown such courage in their lifetime to bring us the peace that we enjoy as part of everyday life here and it so annoys me that there is disrespectful youngsters going around telling these hero's that they are old farts for them to think that in the first place. I thank each and every one of these hero's for the sacrifices they gave and for the living history that their stories and tales tell.
Right that's me off my soapbox, have a lovely day everyone and to Pat, Yorkielass, Lynne, Lindsay and all our other missing friends i send love and hugs. Hugs to all that are not quite themselves the now and i hope they are on the road back to us again soon,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil)

Hi Sue,
I really , really like this one! It is gorgeous and the pins just finish it off beautifully. When I first looked at it it reminded me of animal print in a nice sort of way! It's the colours and cut out shapes I think. Maybe I'm just a bit strange! Don't anyone feel obliged to agree with that !! Lol.
First of all, Happy Birthday BRENDA - sending hugs and best wishes.
Secondly - thanks so much to all who sent birthday wishes to me. Much appreciated.
Norah - I can't even try to compete with your description of your beautiful Ochils but I am looking out on Loch Ard and the hills behind it. The autumnal colours are beautiful and like you say there is a cloud having a rest on top at the moment! The picture changes all the time - lovely.
Janet - glad you enjoyed last nights meal.
We are going out for dinner tonight so I'm looking forward to that .
To everyone going to NEC enjoy your day out.
Pat - so pleased you enjoyed your visit to the poppies. I would love to have seen them. I sort of thought they'd be static so was interesting to learn from you that they gently swayed.
Love to everyone, especially those who are unwell or grieving or lonely. Sending hugs xxx

Hi Sue, a lovely elegant card today, really like the French die. Sorry I missed yesterday, I am having a little trouble with my left eye and staring at a computer screen doesn't help. Liked both cards but the angel card does it for me, beautiful.
Haven't read all the comments so apologies if I have missed anything important.

Congratulations Belinda on being the Wednesday winner.

Good afternoon Sue, and all the ladies.
This is just a gorgeous card Sue, as usual. Everything about it is just perfect.
Happy Birthday Myra and Brenda.
Alimecca - I hope you had a wonderful time in London.
Belinda - Congratulations, you lucky girl.
Sandra - I hope you and the family are well, I am thinking of you.
Cameeli - you are so lucky to have seen the poppies. We can't do "off the cuff" things because we see to our granddaughters every school day, and because Zoe's mam and dad are going out tonight she is having a sleepover here (Eleanor is at a friend's house having a sleepover).
Pam - glad to see you yesterday, thinking of you.
Love to all xx

HI SUE
YES COME TO SAME CONCLUSION AS YOU, CHEAPER ON THE PRODUCTS TO FILL FROM THE FRONT THEN COVER PLASTIC SHEET AT THE BACK(DOING THE EDGE OF CARD ONLY TOO TO MATCH). STILL GET THE SAME EFFECT. LIKE THE SOUND OF THIS EBONY ICE, GOING ON MY LIST TO BUY. LIKE THIS CARD AS LESS IS MORE.STILL LOOKS EXPENSIVE AND OPULENT. VERY NICE JOB.
CONGRATS LUCKY BELINDA ON WINNING THE CARD.

Hi Sue,
What a dramatic card!I love the ebony ice and the way you've used it as a border on one of the black layers is great. Rounding the top corners really gives it a nice finish, and the ribbon, double bow and stick pins just add to the beauty of the card. As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

Hi Sue, love this design, really quite opulent. I.m going to have to find some of the blank pins and have a go at making my own! Am back home early from the back surgery and pretty other than the wound itself I am pretty much pain free at last!! Itching to get upstairs and start crafting but will have to be patient! Lots of hugs, Karen xx

Hi Sue,
Beautiful card. Congrats to Belinda. Your new dies are beautiful and couldn't resist pre ordering a couple of them!
Got back fro London about an hour ago and although tired from all of the walking, we had a wonderful time. The purpose of the trip was to see the Poppies at the Tower and I have to say it was a worthwhile trip. They were stunning and so heart wrenching to think that each one represented a once living person who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us all. My only complaint was when we were there there was no real control over the massive crowds and at one point it felt as though something could go horribly wrong as there were so many people trying to get into one little spot. I have some wonderful photos and will always remember the spectacle. Can't wait for my poppy to arrive probably in the new year. We also decided to try and see as many of the Paddington Bear statues as we could and got to 25 before we had to come home. Some of them were gorgeous!! I will try to catch up with all of your comments over the next couple of days but am sending love and hugs to you all. Love Alisonxx
