Congratulations

Good Sunday morning all!  I know that this card will not appeal to everyone because of the black card that I have used, but it did get quite a few comments from the presenters on the One Day Wonder Shows a few weeks ago now.  It is quite striking I think so I did want to give it a day on the blog.  I started by cutting the French Collection Background out of black card.  I left a rather wide border on it too.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension and added it to a piece of gold non -mirror (but not quite a pearl) card from my stash.  This card isn't our vintage gold and to be honest, I haven't a clue where it came from, but it matched the satin ribbon beautifully so I decided to use it.  I gave it a thin white mat to frame it, then added a paper pierced black mat, a matching gold mat and a final black mat to sort the entire background of the card.  I stamped my sentiment (from Justrite) and heat embossed it in gold detail powder on to black card.  I cut it into a strip and then added a forked end to it.  I made a matching white mat to give it some pop and glued it to the lower portion of the background.  I made a satin ribbon rose using the same technique that I did on my very first video found here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu4JS2HlCb4)  I added it to the end of my sentiment strip with a gold twine piece and some black tulle as accents.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.

Now for this week's Comment Game winners.  They are:

Barbara Macaskill!!!
Haze T!!!
Nubiene Peltier!!!

For the extra qualifying post of Wed., Nov. 5th, the winners are:
Craftycatty!!!
Fran Bailey!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Well done to all the winners - nice to see Kitty's name there.

morning Sue
As you say and probably have guessed that today's gift is not going to be my cup of tea. I know gold/black is a very classic combinations but it is just a little too dark.
I have finally bought your French background and have one piece cut ready for me to play with so perhaps I can do something in another set of colours.
I too have had a sneak look at your next set of dies and oh don't they love beautiful. I especially like the edge ones.

Sandra - Fingers crossed for the girls footy. Hope the pitch isn't too waterlogged for them. Didn't do too much housework yesterday and so managed to get a few more season cards done. Still a lot to go though. Time is just going far too quickly this year as I've also got a cross stitch picture (9inch x 19inch) on the go supposedly for a present and my fingers at the moment really do not like this weather. It's only this year that I've started having problem with my hands but I really shouldn't complain as I shouldn't have thrown a wobbly three years ago and had the heart attack and then I could have stayed on the anti-inflams. (Note to self - Stop moaning - sorry.
Norah - Am so sorry that Rory's jumper has to be taken back. I think he would have really enjoyed showing it off. Still that's sisters for you isn't it.
Steph - Hope you're well and truly wrapped up and cosy in your little cubby hole (beautiful craft room) and creating like billy=ho.

Hope everyone going to NEC has a really good time.
Happy Birthdays/Congratulations to all who have need.
Congratulations to all the very lucky winners this week.
To all under the weather and not feeling very well hope you feel better soon.
To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Sunday Smiles to you Sue and all friends here.

Congrats to all comment winners - it maynot be a card but I use my comment gift such a lot, so enjoy : )

Striking is all I can say. Its a conversation piece in my mind, and the beauty of your gold ribbon flower takes the eye away from the black, that may sound daft to some, but we all see different things in Sue's cards.
Am I right in thinking the gun powder plot was one day in history ? Well why on earth do stupid Brits make it last a week or so ? WHY !!!? Ba humbug to fireworks unless its on Nov 5th when it should be, and an organised park event ! Oh I see the most loathed OAP in Bolton if Im still around in 20yrs lol !
Have a great day Sue and all friends here whatever your plans.
To our missing friends - we really do miss your comments and hope you'll come home soon (maggie without a bow - im getting concerned)
To all those not feeling so well - feel free to take a hug from my hug basket, and hope it brightens your day a little.

Thinking of those that fell at war - past and present... We shall remember you.

Love this background die and the effect it gives, think I will need to order it , I was trying to hold off ordering anymore till I see what demos you have in store for us with your new dies But?
I spent hours yesterday trying to do the high and low technique with the angel die, what patience you must have , it nearly drove me nuts, when I finally managed it , it didn't look great I preferred the angel die cut on the adhesive paper with the micro beads on and then placed on contast paper behind and one I was happy with was the micro beaded angel set onto light golden gilding wax showing through ( used the left over shape of the angel as a stencil for the wax) .
Belated Birthday Wishes to Brenda and Myra P.( so sorry ) I hope you both had a wonderful day! I noticed you were at Loch Ard Myra, are you staying at Forrest Hills ? ( we used to go there it is beautiful ) enjoy!

Good Sunday Morning Sue & Friends,
Sue I think the black card highlights the design of the die more, the detail can sometimes get list on white card teamed with the gold, today's card is lovely!
Lots going on here today to encourage us all to take the time to pause and remember those that gave their lives for us, being a town that of late has witnessed so many repatriations of serviceman some of them so young, it just breaks your heart, it's moving to witness as a bystander so how the families of the fallen must feel is beyond my comprehension! God bless them all xxx
Janet, it sounds like you are going to be bush with your cards and Cross Stitch gift, such a lovely, thoughtful gift to receive, not only for the actual cross stitch but for the fact that you have given the recipient a part of your life in effect, you gave given so much of your time, that to me makes a hand made gift so much more special. Bless you, I had no idea that you gad suffered a heart attack, dies thus mean you are unable to take anti inflammatories for your arthritis? Can they give you anything else? By the way you have as much right to a moan as the rest of us, we are friends and sharing our moans and problems us what friends do x
The girls had a 0 -0 draw so that wasn't so much of a disaster, they weren't wet, just very cold! They seem to love it though x take care xx
Steph I am with you on the fireworks thing, it drives me crazy, that they seem to be going if every night for half of November, I wish shoos would just sell them for one day, also I am sure that years ago they weren't for sale in every shop you go in like they are today! Hole you gave a productive crafting day my lovely friend xxx
Pat, please don't worry about going to Lyndhurst on my account, if your passing fine, but please don't make Pete go out of his way! Hugs xx
Anne C sounds like you had fun with the High low technique yesterday, I think once you gave mastered it you will be using it all the time, I did and now need to stock up on double sided sticky sheets again! Xx
Well I must go now, Paul had made a lovely brunch.
Sending huge hugs to my lovely Wilsonette family today, take care everyone xxx

Good morning Sue and Wilsonette friends,
Sorry Sue you haven't totally transformed me for the black but i love the design and concept of your card which i could do in different colours.
Well done to all our lucky Wilsonettes on winning this week.
Glad your back home Karen and relatively pain free although be careful crafting please as we don't want burst stitches, staples or to undo the good work the surgeon has done on you.
Alison(Alimecca) glad that you had a great but tiring time down in London. I didn't realise that they were selling off the roses until yesterday and they have all gone. I think they aptly named the beauty though but terrible to realise it's meaning.
Short day for me as i am off to the cemetery with the crosses for my brothers grave from me and mum. This is one of the most important days of the year for me because of all who is not here just to save us, i am here to remember them.
Have a good day everyone with hugs to all my Angels both on blog and not at the moment, i am thinking of you all,
Love and crafty hugs

Afternoon Sue and everyone. Funny but the black looks very, very dark blue on my screen and it's striking with the golden flower, very nice.

Well I have taken it very easy this morning after spending nearly five hours yesterday at the Nec,lot of fun to do and see but now absolutely shattered and wonder why I do this to myself every year and spending way too much money. I think doh that I much prefer Ally Pally as it's not seem so crowded, near impossible to walk through at some places and I felt for the ones in wheelchairs as that was even worse for them to manage to see at things properly.Anyhow ,have now the butterflies from you Sue and some other bits and pieces from J.S so can't wait for a good day to be able to play. Congrats to all the winners, cherish your win lady's.

Norah,I'm thinking of you and everyone else little extra today as it's a day to remember. For me it's a day to remember friends and family who have passed away over the years, especially my wonderful mother-in-law who passed on the 11/11-98 ,we always light a little candle and take the poppy crosses out on the day.
I loved to hear you found yourself a nice and warm pudding jumper, sure you will look grand in it and do get Rory one too,he would love it.Hugs to you both.
Sandra-hope you enjoyed your brunch ? Glad your girls had fun with the football but it's getting very cold suddenly.
I'm with you Steph-fireworks and bonfires should be done in safe places.Fireworks has gone over three weeks here and the poor neighbours dog is petrified the little thing.
Wonder how our furbabies are,Tilly and Cully, hope you all are ok ?Hugs and well wishes to all who just had ops.or are in hospital and take care if in pain.
Maybe we all need to find a little heaven like Janet's and have a pasty or two and good strong coffee :-)

Congratulations to all the winners.

I managed to complete my French collection yesterday at the NEC but just by pure luck. I only found one stall that had the border/corner set available and there was very few of the actual dies in this set also. In truth I think the majority had taken mainly the Christmas dies although there was a lot of sellers with sell outs of various items on a lot of stalls. A good day was had but im paying for it today. I'm over tired, was hoping to be crafting but very little chance of that at the moment.
Anyway enjoy your Sunday
Lots of love

First of all, congratulations to all this week's winners. Now, onto the card. I LOVE IT! It's so dramatic and the die...is to die for. As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

Hi Sue, love the black and gold combo, and I agree with Sue Dunn, it looks very much like a spiders web - a very elegant one:o). Congratulations to all the lucky winners and enjoy your prizes. Back home after the surgery, and I feel like I've been kicked by a mule!! The pain from the herniated disc went immediately but the pain from the surgery iss almost unbearable!! Thank heaven for pain relief is all I can say. Getting better though little by little step by step. Lots of hugs, Karen xx

Hi Sue,
I am not entirely sure how I feel about today's card. It is very striking and lovely but I'm not sure it would be to everyone's taste and so I probably wouldn't make it in those colours for anyone else. The black really shows off the beauty of the die though.
Congratulations to today's winners.
Anne - yes I was at Forrest Hills but only called in - we have stayed there in the past. We are at Loch Achray at Tigh Mor. The loch has been so still today the hills, clouds and trees are reflected as if in a mirror. Thanks for your good wishes. Keep trying with the high/low technique - you'll get there.
Last nights meal was lovely but boy did we have to go through torrential rain and floodwater to get there! Thankfully it was dry coming back .
Has been very moving today to see the Remembrance Services. Good to give thanks and remember.
Have a good evening everyone.
Love to all, including You Sue and your Mum.

My favourite of your background dies looks fab in any colour! Black goes especially well with the gold I think.

Stunningly beautiful card Sue. I love black in cards, it really adds drama IMO. Gx

Hi Sue, striking indeed and certainly not for everyone, including me, but some of the pictures are showing as dark blue and cream and I think I prefer that colour combination.

Congratulations to all of the winners today, enjoy your prizes.

It has been a day of reflection and remembrance. I always watch the service on TV and when you see the old soldiers marching along with such pride it brings more than a tear to the eye. My paternal grandmother was lucky, all four sons returned safely from WW2 but things could have been so different.

Hugs for everyone today with special careful hugs for Karen.

Hi Sue

I love it, the colours, the layout- which would work in other colours for Christmas with holly or a poinsettia.

Congratulations to the winners and I hope those that went to the NEC had a great time.

Had a lovely time Thursday, we found some lovely independent shops that although not accessible in the modern sense, with some fairly awesome chair skills I got in. One is a fabric shop which runs workshops, the owner is happy to accommodate me in the shop, moving the course down from the first floor which is great so in January Mr W will drop me andy sewing machine off for a day of learning to draft patterns to fit my rather awkward frame!

Been remembering today too. Lest we forget.

Hugs to all especially those in any type of pain, those having treatment and recovering, stay warm and dry, try to ignore those #@*!ing fireworks and craft away!

Hi Sue,
what a very elegant card.
The black and gold is lovely, and your fab design is ace.
My DH can never understand black cards, he always thinks they are for funerals, or sympathy.
Can't make him understand that they are very elegant.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Such a beautiful card Sue and quite dramatic. I love the white mat under the frame and sentiment, they give a nice lift. I don't think it would occur to me to change the mat colour because of the gold on the first layer.
Congrats to all the lucky winners.

This would make a good Halloween card!! Thanks for the flower instructions rreminder. I do like this flower and haven't used it for ages. I used to do b&w cards quite often, but now do more WOW ones!!
I'd love you to do some smaller or flatter cards that we can use for Christmas inspiration that would be postable at the cheaper rate. It is so hard to think of a pretty design that is less than 5mm thick!!

Sue I think this is a very sophisticated looking card and I really like it. It is quite unusual that I go for the colour but it is outstanding. Maybe its the white with the black and gold which as you say makes it pop and the flower really sets it off. Thanks and hugs Maureen

Sue, I love this card. Black and gold is so sophisticated. I must try it with a different background die - I don't have that one - yet.

Take care. Love, Jules x
