Glittered High Low Technique

Good morning crafters!  This is one of my favourite techniques to do with dies!  It does take a bit of time, but well worth it I think!  Once you see it done with glitter, it is so easy to do this technique with other mediums like gilding flakes and mica powders too!  There is also another technique to use with the Delicate Daisies die to give them a completely different look.  I do apologise but I cannot seem to find any other pictures of this card though.  I hope you will enjoy the video.
All for now, Sue x

What beautiful colours and a wonderful technique to show them off. I have yet not tried this technique but I can assure you that I shall be having a go in the very near future. So be prepared to hear my groans of woe when pieces do not stay where I want them! Your finished work of art today is just beautiful and who wouldn't want this to be delivered to them on their special day. I for one would love to receive it.

Today I shall be remembering all the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be FREE today. Like so many families we lost loved ones in the 1914-1918 Great War. Had relatives who suffered all their lives through injuries in 1939-1945 WW2 and have suffered the worries and anxieties of having a member of our young generation fighting in Afganistan.
My prayers are that one day everyone will be at PEACE with each other.

See you tomorrow.

Good morning Sue and Wilsonettes friends,
WOW Sue, how pretty is today's card that i am determined to have a go at this today. The polished silk glitter really does sparkle and shine. I think the flowers have that chrysanthemum look about them as well, but how versatile is these dies as they can make a few different type of flowers. Thank you Sue for another stunning card.
Tres flower, it is lovely to see you back again. I am sorry that you are having a time of it because of your illness, but i hope that you are feeling a bit better now as i know just how low it can take you to the point that even the littlest thing can be the biggest struggle.(hugs)
Welcome home Maggie(better without a bow). What a cheek your ipad has, who does it think it is acting all high and mighty at who you can and cannot keep in touch with. I would threaten it with a cheaper rival and see if it starts behaving itself more.;) I hope that you had a wonderful time with your daughter down under.
Karen(knight) i hope that you are behaving yourself since coming out of hospital and not trying to do any marathon sessions of anything as we wouldn't want that nice surgeon shouting because his hard work has been destroyed by over doing it. Please take care.
Alison( Alimecca), how is your Auntie getting on? I hope that she is in as good a place and state of mind that she can be.Sending hugs to her.
Theresa (TOB), nice to see you back again and i hope that you are on the long road back up again.(Hugs)
Tandy, glad to see that you have come back even if is hard at the moment for you. I know you have had another rough year and can only hope that it gets better for you.(Hugs)
So tired today as Rory was out until 11:00 last night with the school away through to Livingstone to the theatre. Have the hospital with Kirsten this afternoon so i am going to go and have another sleep as the eyes are shutting big style on me today. I think it is just going to be one of those days today. Take care everyone and i will hopefully see you tomorrow. Hugs to all my Angels both in blog and not at the moment. My thoughts and prayers are with you all,
love and crafty hugs

Hi Sue and all Wilsonettes. Ohhhhh WOW, what a beauty, so much sparkle, WOW. I want and need that background die, Id love to replicate this for a Pearl anniversary card that was ordered last night - BUT - (and even though your tutorial is SO easy to follow, thank you) im wondering how much damage I will cause ! With my 'sticky up finger' waving in the wind, specs that have got to big for my drawn face so keep sliding down my face, and totally accident prone at the moment ( who else has got their hairbrush tangled in their necklace just by bending down whilst holding said brush) and had to be untangled by Mr L, Im thinking pockey tool terror lol ! Would I end up gouging hugh pieces of sticky sheet off instead of gently peeling back ? Maybe who knows ! Or worse, will my specs fall off onto the sticky sheet Ive just pulled back ? More than likely lol... Oh what a vision of comedy errors I could end up to be, but it would be so worth it if I could finish with this stunning piece of delight. So now do I go and adopt (secretly) the background die or the holly die ? I have the little holly leaf die, but I so love my petit vinary and use it so much, that I now need the holly for my C. Cards. Hmmm - holly or comedy crafting ?
So, I will send my love to our friends that feel awful today, and send a hug to all of you, if you are low, a gentle hug comes your way, to anyone having treatment etc be strong and to anyone celebrating, congratulations.
I too will remember the fallen later today, both past, and our young brave soldiers who have recently received their wings.
Have a wonderful day Sue whatever your plans.
Hope your little French kitchen is warm and cosy Janet.
Love you.

Good Morning Sue & Friends,
I have tried this technique with carrying shades of blue glitter and was surprised how gorgeous the results were, although a little messy! Fun though!
Steph I could see you trying this, you like a good messy play don't you! Haha if you are anything like me any play is messy, I spend more time tidying my craft room up than I do creating in it!
Tres, so sorry to hear you are poorly, sending you gentle hugs, please get well soon xx
TOB, Theresa special hugs to you too, nice to see your name and comment xxx
Margaret (corgi) I do hope the vet can treat your poor babies, it's such a worry when your little furry babies are poorly as they can't tell you like a child can! Sending hugs to you and Corgi's xxxx
Norah, enjoy your wee nap, sounds like you have had a busy 24hrs, I do hope that all goes well at hospital with Kirsten, is it a midwife appointment? Bet you are excited for the scan etc, when is the little one due ? I hope Rory enjoyed.his trip to the theatre, hugs to you my lovely friend on your very busy day xx
Lynda, hugs right back at you, I had a bit of a down day yesterday, Mondays can sometimes be like that for me, I so love having all my family around at the weekends, but Monday comes along and I find myself all alone again, I am not too keen on my own company, I tend to think too much, which turns to anxiety and then spirals down! But today I am rescued by my two Wilsonette sisters! It's our weekly jaunt, Sue is back with us too this week, we are meeting at 11.30 which is very wise as two minutes silence would be a struggle!
Janet, I cannot believe your time in your gorgeous French retreat is almost up, I swear it only seems like a couple of weeks ago that you were waiting for the doctor to give the all clear for Mr E to travel! Do you not go back for Christmas? If not I am booking in! Oh just imagine, French countryside log burner, gorgeous local produce and just Paul and I .....heaven! But on a serious note I'd miss the family... I think x
Make the most of your last few days, hugs to you both xx
Right I must go and organise myself for my day out, you wouldn't believe the amount of crafty goodies we shift around from house to house each week!
Crafty hugs to all of you lovely ladies today,
Like the rest of you, I will reflect and remember those that gave their lives for our freedom today, so many at such a young age, also the families that lost those loved ones as we did in our family, we will remember them xxxxx

Sandra, Sue and Mrs B - I can imagine what it must be like when you visit each other's homes for your crafting day. When we look after our daughters children (school holidays etc) and we did yesterday because the youngest one was poorly. I always take a bag or crate (or both) of my goodies so that if they want to they can craft. Yesterday the younger one had a wonderful time stamping and creating cards, then the 15-year-old arrived home, she is doing GCSE Art, and it was - grandma can I use this piece of card or have you got???????? needless to say it is enjoyable.
Janet - I can't believe you be coming back home soon, where has the time gone?
Steph - sorry, but I couldn't help smiling when you were imagining yourself using the double sided sticky and the glitter, I had a lovely picture in my head of sticky on glasses and glitter everywhere. I'm sure you can do this, but thank you for the amusing moment.
Norah - hope all goes well with Kristen at the hospital this afternoon. Hope Rory enjoyed his theatre trip.

Hi Sue...I had a bit of a senior moment when watching the video. I was sitting here thinking, why do I need to tape the bits down if I'm taking the backing of the sticky sheet...DUH!!! Of course it's simple when you actually pay attention isn't it. There I was thinking you were sticking down the top side and not the back lol!!! Having sorted my brain out I could relaxe and watch you create yet another masterpiece...it's outstanding and I love the colour of the glitter you used, it reminded me of the ocean. As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

Hi Sue
Another stunner today. Must give this technique a go. I'm glad that you have done a video to break it into bite size pieces so to speak, will watch this later tonight. Have just dropped Sandra off home and will have to start dinner soon. We had a lovely chatter, put the world to rights and had a good laugh. Oh, and got a bit of crafting done as well. Multi tasking or what. I to shall remember the fallen today, and pray that we lose no more of our brave men in foreign countries. Hugs to all in need of one today. Steph I can just imagine you all stuck together with your glasses perched on the end of your nose. Take care.

Want a giggle Sue ? Just in time for 11's too : )

Not sure if you've had the time to read todays comments yet, but errm, thought Id try something similar but with diamond snow and iced snow just for a change of texture rather than colour as it was going to be for a pearl wedding anniversary and wanted tone on tone with pearl card ! Well I dont have the die used, so tried using the Cordoba ! By the way ladies it REALLY is easy to peel away the backing that Sue glittered in that amazing glitter, I got that far, but something didnt look quite right at one point - guess who forgot to actually STICK down the sticky sheet to the card ????!!!! Guess who spent forever trying to poke sticky backed paper from all those teeny weeny holes out of the frame of the Cordoba ? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh !
What was I saying earlier about doing stupid things ? There really IS no hope lol.

Now who on earth could have posted this comment ? Guess : )
Xxxx

I cried while watching the news report of all the different rememberance ceremonies it is all so poignant.

Hi Girls,
sorry, I have just been through 4 days of hell and back with worry about Kirsten. Saturday she started to bleed and didn't stop for the next 11 hours. Doctor appointment yesterday got her the number for the early pregnancy unit who went through a few different things and told her to come in today. Went in this afternoon with her for this horrible wee nurse to tell her that she was over reacting and so was our gp, but she would get the sonographer to due an ultrasound. Well both her and wee mite are holding their own and just the fact that she is happy I am both relieved and getting used to this grandparent position becoming more of a reality. Thank you everyone for your wishes and concerns, I am so very lucky to know each and every one of you special people.
Love and crafty hugs
