Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi crafters!  I have a birthday card for today's card giveaway!  The background was created using the letterpress technique where I inked up my Rows of Bows Pinpoint embossing folder with a Clear Perfect Medium pad.  I used milk card inside the inked folder and ran it through my Grand Calibur to transfer the ink to the card.  Once embossed, I dusted it with Enchanted Gold mica powder.  While it is difficult to see in the large pictures, you will be able to see the soft shimmer in one of the close ups below very nicely.  I love this technique as it just adds a very soft detail to your backgrounds without taking over.  I used my California Collection Decorative Frames Set B to cut a frame out of black card.  I mounted it up on foam for the focal element.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Justrite die called the Vintage Filligree Layer die by Becca Feeken.  This die cuts out both the decorative outer frame and the inside piece where the sentiment was stamped.  I mounted the decorative piece vertically across my frame and then added my sentiment across the centre.  A border from the California Collection was cut out of black card and glued across the bottom of the card.  I embellished it with a chalk seam binding messy bow adorned with a Classic Rose made of soft gold card.  I put together two matching stick pins to finish off the bow embellishment.  The card was completed with a bit of matting with gold and black and a double milk mat with a pierced inner layer.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 9 1/4" in size.  Leave a comment if you would like to be entered in the drawing to win this one.  Check back for the winner's name on the Saturday morning post.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, oh Sue this card is gorgeous, I know I say every day that the cards are wonderful but that is because they truly are, I agree that the first picture you cannot see the shimmer but the close ups you can really see the shine of them, I keep saying I am going to try this technique, I will let you know how I get on. You embossing always comes out so sharp and crisp. I have sent off for some of the coconut white card that you use so I am going to have a go with this when it arrives. I hope everyone has a great day either crafting or whatever you are doing. I am off to my Wednesday craft club morning, so looking forward to it, we have a really great bunch of ladies it is a joy to be there. I also so enjoyed Julie on C&C yesterday, and you were mentioned a few times which is lovely. How is the physio going Pam?. Have a safe, healthy and happy day everyone, hugs June Smith xxx

I have the California Decorative Frames Set B and they are all beautiful,(am saving up to get the rest of that collection but have just given in and bought your Pine Bough:) from JS as it is perfect for my Christmas cards that I must start making!) Beccas Filligree die is pretty too. I love the whole card.
Sending my daily hugs to you Sue, to Pam and Robbie, to Sandra-yes that's a deal:) Please listen to the other Wilsonettes, you have nothing to lose, to Pat and my other special friends and to all in need. Take care.

Hi Sue. Morning Pam, Cameeli and Heather and to whoever posts whilst Im tapping away.
I must congratulate you Sue on the photography this morning, they have highlighted the detail of your new EF and the beautiful patterns that are held within your dies when embossed. Becca designs the most delicate dies dont you think ? Of course you do or you wouldnt own so many lol !
This is certainly a W.O.W. ( wonder of Wilson) and how lucky to be picked to receive this card, its beautiful, really beautiful Sue.
Yes Pam thank you for being so lovely, after feeling like I was going to combust and slept 3 days away on and off, the injection has helped imensly which in turn has helped all round. There is nothing like pain to lower one's mood no matter how many masks you wear, unfortunatly, it can still sometimes show. Talking of which, I too hope that you will consider accupuncture Sandra (it wasn't accupuncture that made me feel like Ive said above that was steroid) so please dont panic or worry : )
Nice to read our Cam sounds like 'our Cam' again.
To our Wilsonette mom's or mam's depending where you live lol that are sending their little one's off to school for the 1st time, or Grandma's watching their grandchildren grow into new uniforms, I hope your day goes well and not to lonely for you and that your childs first day goes, or has gone well (barbie - you may miss your daughter, but another year of memories to record ) and longer at our craft haven without having bored children moping lol

To all my lovely special friends, I wish for you a 'good day' rest and potter, and dont overdo things. What's not done today can be done tomorrow ! To any Wilsonettes celebrating birthdays or anniversary's enjoy your day.
Thinking of Tina E.
Hope you are well and happy Sue. Thank you for a stunning card alarm this morning.
Love you.

Hi Sue,
What a Truly Beautiful Elegant Card For You To Share With Us Today, I Truly Love The Rows Of Bows Embossing Folder, The Embossing Is So Amazing.
I Love How You've Used The Decorative B Set From The California Collection I Must Admit One Of My Favourites.
Then Also Another Beautiful Die This Time From Becca Feeken I Think You Both Think Alike Coming Up With Awesome Products For Us To Use.
I Love The border Die Also From The California Collection And With Majority Of Your Card Being In Milk Card Except For The Hint Of Soft Gold Card, I Think The Black Makes A Beautiful And Striking Contrast Just Fabulous. I Must Admit At First Look I Thought The Rose Was One Of The Satin Gold Roses, But Reading Through Your Notes It's The Classic Rose From Your Finishing Touches Die Range In Soft Gold Card, It Looks Fabulous And The Wonderful Stick Pins.
Sue Thank You So Much For Sharing, Thank You For Great Tips And Techniques And Thank You For Your Kindness In Offering This Beautiful Card As A Gift For Someone.

What a wonderful treat for me today - to be met with a beautiful gift is so uplifting.
It looks so simple but is so elegant and certainly has a status.
As you can see arrived back safe and sound but oh feeling so tired and with such a busy week - off to cardio this morning for a check up- I dread to think what they'll think when they see my face! Yes Steph constant pain is certainly a downer and as you say no amount of make-up or put on masks covers it up. You cannot change your eyes and that's where you can see everything hidden or not. Sorry to hear you're not well Norah - please take thinks steady and Sandra give Acupuncture a go.
Short but hopefully sweet this morning as have to be in cardio for 09.30 and I haven't got my legs on yet never mind everything else.
Hope everyone is feeling a bit stronger this morning. Take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow. (hope everything I've said makes sense)

2 of my Grandsons have started their last year of Primary school, my Granddaughter started full time school and my youngest started her last year at Senior school, and my eldest daughter started as a dinner lady at the primary school she left 20 years ago so a busy week all round.
I am trying to get all my Christmas and birthday cards done so I am ready for the call about my operation on my thumb which could be around December, so when hands play nice I am doing what I can.
Managed to catch some bits of Julia's shows in between doing other jobs.
Gentle hugs for baby Leo and I hope Robbie is continuing to come along with his movements

Good morning Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes,
I'm not sure what to think about todays card Sue as the first thing that came to mind was i had never seen such sparse die cuts, i think it was the fact of them having a fragile skeleton look. What it does do though is lightens the look of black, so softens the card to a delicate state. The soft gold that you made your rose with made me think that it was one of those made up roses at first until i looked at the close up shot, as it was only then that i realised it was a Sue rose.
Pam, i hope that you are behaving yourself but that you are regaining more movement and less pain in your ankle.
Sandra, i had some acupuncture done(i am a true needle phobic that passes out when one comes near), the needles are so thin that you can hardly see them. I can honestly say that all bar the one in the top of my foot i never felt(that could be because i was as tight as a drum skin on waiting on these things going in and they were already in, now why can't it feel like that when you have to see the vampire for bloods? I tried this twice a week in the end for 6 weeks which was really expensive but was Mr C's way of getting me to walk normally again (what can i say, he's a man) and is most disappointed that i can't. You can only try it and see if it works for you but if you are expecting pain from the needles then i can say don't as it was more a tingling sensation that you had when they were in place. You have nothing to lose expect the chance and hopefully some of the pain that you are in constantly flower.
Wheely, i thought you were going to be good so that you could enjoy Alex's birthday, mmh? You did too much didn't you and are suffering from all your hard efforts. TRY and take it easy until you are back up to tottering speed again.
Steph flower, i am so glad that you are finally receiving the benefits from your torture treatment but that is not the signal for you to start going daft again with a million and one things to do, just needing the time to do them. Please take it easy and build up to them as you don't want to knock out all the good that your treatment(which was so painful) has done for you.
Tina, i so hope that you and your family had a as good a day as it could be to lay your dear dad next to your beloved mum, now he can be at peace but just because he has gone in the flesh, he will always be alive in your heart and mind.
Dawn, boy i'm glad that you were just in bed when that came over you, but i am struggling to imagine getting vertigo in bed. How tall is your bed? Ceiling height?. Are you the Princess and the pea that we have heard so much about from our childhood? Glad you are feeling better though and i would get a lower bed if it is going to do that to you.
Cheryl, i hope that you are not getting too tired. when do you go for your operation? I hope it is soon so that you can come back to us with that very happy smiley face that you have in your photo. We are sending up our wee prayers for you flower.
Janet, glad you are back home safely, but take it easy at the cardio please. Boy does this week sound tiring and i am not even doing it, Janet. I see you can reassure Mr E, that the car has suffered nothing on it's long haul back from Burgundy and everything fitted in the car as neat as ninepence. Have some faith Mr. E, we woman know exactly what we are doing when we buy something and take it's storage back home into account before buying.
Sending hugs to Robbie, Leo, Sam and all my wonderful Wilsonette friends,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue,
What a beautiful card today! I love that EF it's one of my favourites . I think it always looks so elegant. Love what you did with the letterpress technique - will try that - not tried it with that EF. Really like how the EF almost gets pride of place , probably not expression I'm looking for but it's more presence that usual. Love it! Thanks Sue.
Anne - you made me laugh - walking day so in a rush! Enjoy your walk. I too am in a rush today.
Dawn S - so sorry about the vertigo - take it slowly - no sudden movements . Pleased you a bit better.
Steph - so pleased you are feeling better. Take care!
Norah - so pleased you seem a bit better today too.
To all who are having an off- day or a really grim day. Sending hugs to you all.
I'm being called - we're going to try to find a new table and chairs for the kitchen. Hope we can agree! Keep your fingers crossed!
Love to all,
Myra

Sue a beautiful card, I'm always useless at letterpress as seem to get the ink everywhere!
Dawn, Tina, and Norah, do glad you are all feeling better. Steph, glad your injections have finally kicked in but please don't go overdoing things, keep things steady so you can keep going for longer.
Well I had some bad news yesterday, my great aunt who was 103 passed away, such a great age, her husband made it to 100 too!
I can sympathise with those in pain, I crushed a vertebrae and also broke one if the wings on a vertebrae too four and a half years ago in a riding accident, I never went to hospital at the time so am so lucky to be still mobile, the des finally for me to go for an X-Ray two years after the accident which was when the discovery was made. I am now on permanent pain killers, tramadol , and just a small amount of physical exercise makes my back so painful, and know not to rush things, in theory anyway, but I'm always doing too much like today and I'm now sitting in so much pain!
Well I had better get on, I managed to make some more Christmas cards yesterday, love to every one, Lynne, Linda, June, Jackie, Janet, Alison, Karen, Myra, Wheely Bad, Maureen, Sandra, Mrs B, Mrs Duck, Julie and Lee, Pam, Cameeli, Steph, Norah, P in Wales and all those whose names are in my stupid mind but are at the back of it!

Good afternoon Sue & lovely blog friends!
Firstly, Sue I love today's card, for two reasons, 1 it's monochrome, classic and the best colour combination of all time, 2, the perfect combination of the most beautiful embossing folder and California Collection dies, goes without saying that you are pretty much guaranteed perfect results by using Sue's amazing designed products, they all do everything you could didn't for and more, that's the benefit of a true crafter designing products for you, Sue understands everything we would ask for in all craft products because she uses them daily herself. Thanks Sue.
I would like to thank each and everyone of you truly kind, caring, ladies, your messages and advice is so helpful for both the advice side of things and the emotional support, I have personal long term friends but I get a warmer more caring response from my amazing Wilsonette Sisters, it's so very reassuring reading your lovely, comforting words.
Basically for many, many months up to January this year when I received an email from Sue, asking if I was ok etc, I was blown away that Sue had noticed my absence amongst the hundreds of other blog followers (although I have been a part of the blog for many years, in the days way before 'Wilsonettes') I had been majorly suffering with depression and anxiety issues, both had taken over my life, I felt that I truly had no purpose! Mainly due to being in constant, chronic pain, made worse by a bodged operation in 2009, this left me unable to walk more than a few steps, unable to climb stairs, drive, stand for very long, basically all the things we take for granted every day. Then you attend appointments where they promise you that they can change things for the better but then they discover that your case us not straight forward, you have more than one problem, then they end up dropping you like a brick, I have apparently A very complicated and complex medical history! Just as an example, on Mondays appointment, the Physio guy wants me 'self propelling' in my wheelchair, he then promised to have me back driving, I stupidly allowed myself to start thinking 'ok maybe this time he is going to put the work in' being able to drive again would be huge, I then said would they really let me drive with the medication that I am on, he looked again at the list and said "oh right yes you are right, there is no way you could drive on those meds"! They clearly have no idea how much hope you go to these appointments with, you come away feeling ten times worse than when you went in, a little more hope gone!
Anyway, sorry once again to be some miserable, I have taken on board your advice, both from here on the blog and also from those left on my own blog, thank you all for taking the time to offer your advice, please feel free to leave me your email address on my blog and I will email you personally!
It's amazing the difference a few kind words can make to your day!
Thank you all so very much once again, huge hugs to each and everyone of you!
Sandra xxxxx

Hi Sue, another stunner. It's so elegant and the die cuts are so crisp and neat. The bow and pins really set it off so well. Hi Sue

Such a lovely card to be given for the Wednesday give away. Lucky lady who ever gets this one.

Pam, Thank you for giving me the info to see Robbie. What a handsome looking young man. I must admit I did shed a tear when I saw him with his dog sat on the bed. I did leave a message. He probably thinks, who the hell is this lady, but I just wanted him to know that it's all really positive thoughts being sent to him and what an inspirational young man he is, and keep going in the right direction.

Gentle hugs Leo.

Usual big hugs to. Steph, Margaret, Yorkielass, Lynda, Sheila, and of course Norah & Rory.

I'm sure I have forgotten lots of people, but my mind is elsewhere at the moment. Sorry.

Kind regards to you all :-)

Hi Sue,

Sandra, I am pleased that you have got comfort from all of our well wishes. Lindsay so sorry to hear of your great aunt's passing - my thoughts and prayers are with you. Janet hope your cardio visit went well. Myra hope you got the table and chairs you wanted. Steph pleased to hear you sounding more upbeat. It will be an early night for me as I'm as stiff as a board. Been lugging furniture around all day ready for painting tomorrow - joy of joys! I'm not sure which bit of me aches the most. Still I am much better off than many of the lovely people on this blog. So can I wish each and every one of you a good night and will see you all tomorrow. Lots of love to you all, Alison xxx

Good evening Sue and everyone
Such a regal and elegant looking card and that rose well words fail me, so very rich and beautiful and no mistake. Who ever is lucky enough to win this really will have something very special to treasure.

Pam so pleased to learn from Tina's comment that Robbie has had his corgi visit him, they really are very special dogs, little in stature they may be, but they have hearts of gold and so very loving and faithful.
Please do tell him there are two corgis in the UK sending him their love and licks too along with their owner sending him lots of encouragement and a big hug.

Sandra hope you are ok and recovering, I have not heard from you x

So pleased to see Cameeli is more like her usual self sending your special cuddles out, hang on in there special lady.

Steph delighted to know things are easing a little for you please do take care.

Warm summer wishes and hugs to all who need them especially Tina, Steph, Pam, Sandra, Lyndsay, Lynda, Yorkielass, Norah and Rory, and not forgetting Sue
