Good Sunday morning all! I have a sort of pretty artsy card to share today. I know it won't appeal to everyone, but it is really very pretty in person. I started by laying down some colour using Distress Oxides. I picked Spiced Marmalade, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry and covered a piece of coconut white card. Next I cut all of the Inspirational Words and laid them randomly around the card. I spritzed the card with water so it lightened the background and then removed the words, but the colour stayed intense but it gives them a kind of ghost effect in the background. I used some Black soot ink around the edges to frame it, then matted it with black. I cut one of the Industrial Chic Swirls out of white card and glued it to the background. Next I cut two of the smaller tag from the I.C. Frames and Tag set and cut a small bit off of the end on both of them, then rejoined it to makes a longer tag. I cut the word Discover in black and glued it to the tag. I cut the word Art twice, once out of white and one out of black, then shadowed it and mounted it with foam above the swirl. The card was completed with a white on white mat layer. The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8 1/4" in size.

Morning Sue, although it's something I wouldn't make there us something I really like about today's sample, it also inspires us to use many more mixed media's like various inks and Pixies. I'm an 'old fashioned' crafter in many respects although after watching yesterday's video I decided to try my first shaker card, 4 out of 10 for attempting but could have done better, but acceptable enough to add to my Mday market basket ☺ one thing I keep meaning to mention, I love how you 'tut' occasionally when filming your tutorial it makes me smile as the majority of my crafting time is full of 'tut's' lol, so I'll end there and send you love and hugs in place of 'tut's' and hope you enjoy your day xxx
Oh sue, I know it's out of the ordinary but I actually do like this. The background is amazing and making your own background with different mediums is something I want to do but just not brave enough yet lol. I've got all these gorgeous Spitzer inks but not used yet , had them a while too. Youve inspired me to have a go , must be fun to do too and how lovely when the result is just as amazing as yours. It's gorgeous, love the die cuts too and how you incorporated the words into your background. Just gorgeous hun xx
Hi Sue
This is a card I like but I don't know how it would be received by my friends. They all seem to want pretty and flowers, that's O.K. we are not all the same.
Enjoy your day Jan x
Very striking card today! Debra x
Hello Sue and all
another amazing background and I really like the card too.
Congratulations to the comment winners

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a very different card today, love the colouring on the background too, and the dies used certainly make the statement that you wanted, it is not my usual type of crafting but you never know one day I might venture down this route.
Congratulations to: Pat S Whitney, Lyn Richardson and Tupns
Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx
An interesting card Sue, like your idea for the background. Thank you. Xxx
Good Morning Sue and all.
Amazing card this morning . I love to seeing your creations like this one, such a different style than what we are used to from you. The style works so well with the design of the dies.
Congratulations to winners.
Crafty hugs and well wishes to all.... Wendy
Those ghost words are so interesting, and much easier to do than by stamping a faux watermark. This is more like a dry water mark.
I'm a big fan of the gear flowers. Your sprocket swirl.
Hooray for the winners!
Best possible Sunday to all.
Donita
Hi Sue, lovely card and dies. love Jean Z xxxx
Good morning Sue, although not a card I would make, I love how you have created the background and do find it inspiring.

Congrats winners. Great word dies Sue.
Hi Sue, a lovely card this morning, very different from your usual style. It is good to do something completely different. The background is beautiful and I live the gear flowers.

I love backgrounds like this but would like the die cut images to be more integrated into the whole background but not everyone likes the same thing. Congratulations to all the winners xx
Good Morning Sue
Love the card today and very clever idea with the words on the background. It gives a great effect, you are clever.

Hi Sue,
Love the background and the swirl, but not so sure about the stark white of the word ART. But it's personal choice, I know it'll appeal to a lot of people.
Hugs, Rose
Hi Sue,
Love this colourful background, it's very striking and thank you for telling us how you did the words - I thought you must have cut them and used them as stamps but laying them down and then spritzing over them with water gives a more subtle effect and very artsy...very clever!
Congratulations to the Comment Game winners...

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes

Great card, very striking.
Congrats to the winners especially Pat.

GM Sue. Different. I like it.
Sitting on the fence here. I love mixed media and the grungy background, however, the words jar a little for me. I would have liked them in a different colour. But I do love seeing these more experimental cards!
Good Morning Sue. Lovely technique for the background....excuse my ignorance but is it done the same as yesterday's video?. I have some of the industrial chic dies but not these and I do like the swirl.
Does anyone know how Elaine...Andrew..... Helen and Pam are. It seems so long since we heard from them..... come back soon dear friends... you are being missed and we need a catch up.
We have a heavy frost here in Leeds this morning, although it looks to be melting a little now. Sending warm hugs to everyone and congratulations to the winners. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds

Stunning card Sue, really love the background x xhazel
I love the background but, like others, find the die cuts a bit stark.
Anne (Northampton)
Hi Sue - I really like the way you have used the words for the background and the shadowing is always very effective. It has given me good ideas for a girlie learner-driver scrapbook page using different wording. Congratulations to the three lucky winners today. Sending best wishes

Hi Sue
The card is certainly very interesting today and I know will appeal to a lot of people. The background is lovely but I know the Dies aren't to my taste but that's just me. Life would be boring if we were all the same wouldn't it.
Love Diane G xxx
Congratulations to all the lucky winners, Pat what a lovely treat for you xxx
Good morning Sue A very different type of card today I like the way you've created the background with the ghost words but I would prefer a little more decoration it looks a bit stark to me but that's only my opinion!
Congratulations to today's winners Hope you all have a good Sunday

F card I usually would make, but still lovely,

Hi Sue
Although this is not a card I would make, I do love your distress oxide background. Got some oxide inks at Christmas but haven't used them yet, you have inspired me to take them out and have a go at some backgrounds. x
Hi Sue
A very striking card, I do like how you created the background and the industrial swirl is very pretty. Congratulations to Pat, Lyn and Tupns on winning the comment game and congratulations to craft cornucopia on winning the Wednesday card

Hello Sue
This card is not to my style I am afraid plus I am hopeless when making envelopes this is just too big.Congratulations to all the winners.
Gorgeous card!

Hi Sue. Love the way you have made the background of this card, I really will have to invest in some distress oxides, they give such a lovely effect. I have just been shopping on the internet and have bought some of the industrial chic dies. I am really looking forward to having a play and this card has whetted my appetite.
Lisbeth
I absolutely love this card, the background technique is just beautiful....definitely must get distress oxides, you make such beautiful projects using them.....thank you Sue for sharing...luv Ursula xx
Not my style of card, but it is very striking!
Rosemary xx
Love the background and I love the diecuts too - I'm a bit of a wanna-be calligrapher so 'words' always appeal to me. Liking the chic swirls too though I think maybe it would have been a little more harmonious if the white was toned-down just a little bit? A nice change from the flowery/girly norm ;)
Hi Sue, I'm sorry to say that I am one of those to whom this card does not appeal. Having said that, I do like the background and the Industrial Chic Swirls :-)
Congratulations to this week's comment game winners - Pat S Whitney, Lyn Richardson and Tupns. Enjoy playing with your prizes.

Very Interesting in a Mixed Media way ..

Congrats to our winners!

Interesting glostly-like effect with the oxide inks and spritzed water. I love how you try playing around with inks and other mediums to come up with different effects. Good job!
A very interesting card. Like the way you have made the ghostly background & also the way you have extended the tag, must remember that. Thank you for your inspiration Sue. Looking forward to your HOCHANDA appearances.
Congratulations to the comment game winners.
I too am not keen on this style of card.
Hi Sue
I've just seen that I'm a winner in your comment game. Yippee, so thank you very much.
Great card today and I love the colours. Love these Dies they're great especially for men's cards. Just that bit different.
Hi Sue this is stunning I love the background you have created. Congratulations to all the winners. Enjoy the rest of the day. Take care. Hugs Jackie

A really striking background on a stunning card. X
I really like this.

Evening Sue
Missed me? I'm back x
Bit of industrial chic to get the old brain cogs turning. It is definitely not an 'obviously Sue' style card as it is very removed from what we have come to expect. I love it x
They say a change is as good as a rest and this change and going off in a slightly different direction gets my vote. Love the background x
Had lovely time surprising mum and sister last weekend - the highlight was me hiding in the boot of my dads car for shock value - this had the desired affect - frightened the life out of my sister. Short but lovely visit but a lot of travelling so it did wipe me out x
Nice to be back - spoke to Laine last night and Maureen this afternoon - double whammy. Laine moaned as I haven't sent her card yet - no patience! Maureen is busy redecorating - one roll of wallpaper cost more than my weeks shopping!! You can take the girl out of Newcastle but ...... well, say no more! Lol x
Congratulations to the lucky winners - enjoy your prizes x
Lots of love to everyone - specially missing friends x

Hi Sue, I love your oxide background and how you placed the words around before spritzing which left the effect of the words, so effective !! I am trying doing backgrounds with the oxide inks at the moment and I need lots of practice haha.
Congratulations to the Comment Winners, enjoy your goodies.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Lovely card Sue!
I like the background effect but find the whiteness of the word dies too stark for my liking.
I LOVE today's card. The background is brill. I am impressed with the way you background the words.
Love this stunning background! Fab dies too. xxx
I love the background and particularly like the ghosting technique you have used. I tend to agree with others above about the use of white though.
Teresa
Gorgeous background. I must remember to try this technique when I get some Distress Oxides. Really like the Industrial Chic Swirls die.
Congratulations to Pat S Whitney, Lyn Richardson and Tupns on winning the comment game. Enjoy your prizes.
Princess Pixie, good to see you back. Glad you enjoyed your family get-together. Laine has done a sterling job in your absence, she really deserves that card!
Take care everyone.
So different from your usual style Sue. I know I've mentioned my low vision before and despite my collection of magnifiers I cannot make out the words on the background. It is a very interesting card though I don't think I'll be trying it.
Congratulations to the 3 winners.
Hugs to all.
Marie P.
Cool card Sue, love the color!
What a beautiful background you've created on this card but I'm really not too sure who you would ever give it to, maybe a student starting an art or design course! I'd like it more as a piece of art in a frame I think. Xx
