Christmas Double Days

Hi crafters!  I have a shadow box card for you up first today.  I started by cutting the Christmas Shadow Box out of vintage silver card.  I added mounting foam to raise it and create all the cubby hole areas.  I embossed a piece of coconut white card with the Twinkle Twinkle embossing folder and added it to the back to show through the boxes.  I added a row of silver and gold ornaments to the top section.  I cut the Rustic Twig Wreath out of gold card and glued it in the largest area slightly off set then added my die cut sentiment in silver over it.  I cut the tree in gold and decided to mount it up over the long thin section on foam.  I added small gold and silver ornaments to it.  I cut a wide frame using the Stitched Lattice Frames out of white card covered with a self adhesive sticky sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with Iced Snow for a frosty feel.  I completed the card with white mats and thin gold and silver ones in between.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

The second card was a bit of a lark as I finished the card above, I noticed that the fallaway pieces sort of looked like they ,might make a nice door!  I embossed the background using the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder to give it some texture.  Next I used the fallaway bits from the Shadow box die, but cut it several more times to get a few more bits to stack up so it looked like a door with panels to it.  I cut the Rustic Twig Wreath for the top of the door and added a small holly to it (from the Shadow Box die).  I added a sentiment to the bottom part of the door (it is still a card afterall!  LOL).  I cut one of the ornaments from the shadow box and nipped off the top to use as a doorknob.  The card was completed with white and vintage gold mats for a very clean and simple look.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4"  x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Both cards are beautiful again today Sue. Like the simple elegance of second one. . In the throes of card making yesterday and my machine stopped working. Back to my original Zippy mate and smaller dies! I used to be annoyed it was so heavy but those solid parts don't break! Have a wonderful day.

Wow two great cards Sue and I love them both for different reasons. the colours, shapes and design make two very good cards.

The dies are fabulous and there can be many combinations for the Shadow Box die, which is so clever of you to design,

thank you so much.

Morning Sue. When is a door not a door ? When it's part of shadow box bits ! See this is what I mean about artistic imagination Sue. I see the fall away as card shapes to cut small flowers from you see them as a possible door for another card - amazing imagination and very clever, do you think you may have been given my share of this special gift, maybe I was too far back in line when it was being given out lol. Both samples are beautiful, of course they are, but I love the simplicity of the 'lark card' the shadow box card just proves my point from yesterday's comment, so easy to use with lots n lots of variations. I'm so glad my festive card rush is behind me now, and as we are not giving many at all this year I may only have two or three to do. I can't believe we got our first card yesterday lol !! 1st December and a card already !!!
Well that's me done apart from sending my usual hug, and look forward to tomorrow's post from you. Have a good day. Hugs to Sam also xxx

Hi Sue
Two stunning Christmas cards, I am nearing then end of making mine and I've got some birthday cards to do before I can put my stash away till February, I so miss my dining table working on kitchen work tops is not easy.
Sorry I've been missing, so I will send congratulations to all winners I've missed I have tried to leave messages but my phone keeps crashing when I press publish, a huge thank you to all who have left messages and comments, Mick has had his Rig for over 2 weeks and is going well on monday he was weighed for the first time since September and is now 10st 2lb so a gain of 2 st, on Tuesday was not feeling too good so no extra food, Wednesday no better so our Macmillan nurse said to call Gp he came out and told us he has a chest infection so on antibiotics he's having issues with his breathing so hoping antibiotics kick in quick he hasn't eaten since Monday but I'm not too worried as he gets over 2 thousand calories a night in his feed and while he sleeps I can add extra fluids.
I send huge hugs to everyone and although I don't get on very often I am thinking about you all
Happy crafting
Love and huge hugs
Love Tina xxxxx

Really like both cards today, Sue - the first a really grown-up shadow box and the second inspired! Must sit on hands as have loads of unused Christmas dies, and know they won't be getting an outing (again) this year. Only making 2 specials, despite my NY resolution. Ah well, nearly Jan 1st again!! Sure comes round quickly.
Lorraine F, good to see you back, sounds as though you're feeling better.
Nanna Tina, poor Mick still struggling, but he has more weight to work with now. Might seem an odd thing to say, but extra weight certainly helped Mr P's eventual cancer remission when he couldn't eat for so long.
Tracy - go girl, but not too fast! Pleased you're back in flower heaven.
Well wishes and hugs.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Ooh, i do love Christmas themed twofer Fridays! You provide us with the tools and inspiration to create our own attempts at your marvels....the festive season is intense for a card maker and you can easily find yourself running out of ideas, not with your blog though! I cant thank you enough for helping me to resuscitate my failing mojo with delights such as today's offerings. Both cards are a revelation, particularly the second....we can always rely on you to think outside the (shadow) box:-)
I loved your first card so much that i got out my own shadow box and had a play at recreating it...I didn't have any silver card so I substituted it for black and it worked out rather well thankfully. Boy, those tiny baubles can be fiddly but well worth the effort, i loved dressing the mini tree and the larger baubles are gorgeous when embossed. I planned to give the sentiment some dimension by layering it a few times but got myself into a sticky pickle, it was fine putting the happy element together but the ornate christmas wording was another kettle of fish altogether...i think that it may be easier cutting them apart and sticking separately next time....i admitted defeat somewhat prematurely and just used one in the end.
Doing your card represented a change of plan for me today, i had intended to go shopping but my Mum has developed a chest infection and had a bit of a temperature so we decided to give it a miss until tomorrow. Felt i needed to do something constructive so whipped together a card before watching Escape to the Country...a guilty pleasure!
Frances, no, I haven't been worn out by Yvonne thankfully, we haven't conversed since Saturday and i have fully recovered from the ordeal now:-) We were going to chat today but have postponed it because i was meant to be going out...that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it! She has been suffering from her hectic social life hence her absence from the blog, hopefully she'll be back to her bitter, self absorbed best sometime soon:-)
Tina, what wonderful news about Mick, 2 st is a huge improvement, i'm so glad the peg is working well. I hope the antibiotics help soon though so that he can start eating again.
Lynda, how are you recovering after your operation, hope you are wellxxx
Maria, sending hugs
Yvonne, Sorry we had to cancel this afternoon, i hope you're feeling better today though and back to your catty best:-) Speak soon honeyxx
Wheely, hope you are well, and Billyxxx
Huge hugs to my besties, pam, pat, P, myra, Maureen, Lorraine, Tracy, theresa, Lesley and anyone struggling emotionally or physically at the momentxxx

Hi Sue

Love your two cards today. Don't have a preference

Hi Sue. WOW Its that time of the week again where you show two of your gorgeous christmas cards . I dont have a favourite as they are both beauties in there own right but i do love the idea of the door card. I would never have thought of using the waste from the shadow box to make that card. Your imagination must run riot at times lol.
Best Wishes.

Two lovely cards today Sue. Very clever the second one. Haven't made my shadow box cards yet. They will be for special people who,I can deliver to by hand. Thank you for sharing Sue.

Hello Sue and all
Two beautiful cards, I have been having a lovely time with my Christmas shadow box dies and love the colours you have used but the simplicity of the wreath card is just perfect. More inspiration thank you Sue,
hugs
