Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi crafters!  There is more to this one than meets the eye!  Upon first look, it seems rather simple, but I have done a bit of trimming and reassembling to create the focal element.  I started with a piece of wisteria card and embossed it with the Wild Roses folder for texture.  Next I cut six of the Fanciful Trim in white.  I sprayed each of them with spray glue and coated them with Diamond Snow and glued them to the edge of the card all the way around.  Next I cut the Ornate Frame My Friend die out of white twice.  I backed both of them with wisteria card, then cut the centres out of them to create frames.  I cut both of them with my paper cutter just past the top and bottom swirls and reassembled the two larger pieces from each of them.  I added mounting foam to the back and attached the now larger frame to the centre of the card.  I used the two smaller pieces that were leftover and attached them to create a smaller piece for the centre of the frame.  Next I cut the Zoe die in a white on white manner and cut the centre out to create a frame.  I stamped my sentiment, covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet, the coated it with Diamond Snow.  I seated the frame over it and trimmed away the excess.  I seated that piece in the centre of the frame to complete the focal element.  I added flatback pearls and then my usual matting and layering the finish the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  9 1/4" in size.  Leave a comment to be entered into the drawing to win this one!  Winner to be announced on Saturday's blog post!  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. Totally stunning card, I love everything about it and there isn't even a bow!! As you say it has a lot more going on but it is definitely worth it.
Laine, sympathies for yesterday. Tracy, well done, hope you start to feel stronger soon.
I agree with the comments on Hochanda's p&p, however if you're buying more than 3 things at once a months membership is actually cheaper than one set of postage from C&C and you can then get free p&p for the rest of the month - just make a diary note to cancel membership in 3 weeks. Hopefully they'll listen to customer comments and do something about it, but it is great that they focus on the demos and guests not on the presenter. Sue XXX

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a stunning card today as a giveaway, although how you can part with them I do not know, they are gorgeous, anyway I digress, I just wanted to let you know that at one stage I was dead against cutting a die cut out up but after seeing what you can do and how you can change things I have now changed my mind completely, you can do so much and at the end of the day it is just a die cut out not the end of the world - so I am a big convert.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Oh Sue, this is a beautiful card and so different with all your different die cuts that you have made and reassembled to make something entirely different again. I do love these wee filligre die cuts that you have put around the side of the card as they are so fine and fragile in look but add so much to the card. The wisteria card is so lovely in real life and really sets the designs of the cuts off to great effect. Thank you Sue for another cracker of a card and the inspiration that goes with it flower as it just shows that if you can be that bit brave and take the scissors to these natural beauties, what you can turn them into. I hope that you are feeling ok flower or as near to it as you can, but sending hugs your way just to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers lovely lady.
Well this is the first i have been able to get near a computer again and only because Rory is away at college, so i can see what i have been missing hopefully. we have a fine layer of snow covering our hills but with the sun shining, making us believe it is warm when it really isn't and the whisps of clouds floating across the sky it is a beautiful day. It'a lovely looking out on just the beauty of the day even if it is cold, it's almost spring with all my little narcissis out and their big brothers and sisters of daffodils poking through the ground as well. I went to visit my old school friend last night at her daughters house and spent the time hunting for a letter that her daughter had lost. This wee lassie puts my craft table to shame as there isn't one bit of floor space that i could safely stand on without doing myself an injury, lol. I have never known one wee boy to have so many ride on toys and they absolutely fill this living room and really he doesn't know what to play on first. It makes me remember both my childhood of making up games with nothing and Rory's where a big box could be anything his imagination could think up. He has been picking his courses for next years college and has picked one of them that is to do with making his imagination work. I can tell them, my boy has absolutely no need of a course to make his work as it works overtime normally anyway. He is got right into his art studies so this is another part of the course that he wants to persue which i'm glad about as he has a talent that needs that bit tweeking and encouraged. I am away to make up two birthday cards now since i have found my list so i will say bye and have a good day everyone if you can, with hugs going to everyone that could be doing with one,
love and crafty hugs

Well ladies thanks again for your well wishes. I'm just so tired this morning. Side effects will kick in in a few days but I'm just glad this was my last chemo so will just get on with it.

Radiotherapy starts on the 22nd till mid April then a bit of recovery time and then will look to go back to work again.
They will miss me big time as the flower dept is mine and they will be heaving by now with products if someone hasn't killed them lol
Last time I was in my store manager wasn't happy as it was down 25% in sales down to the dept not being looked after. Glad to know I'm being missed lol

What a pretty card, Sue. I do love it when you start tinkering with your dies to create a different look :).
Just what is going on with C&C? I see another of their long time sellers, Crafter's Companion, has jumped ship to join Hochanda. I don't really like the charges on Hochanda and although they still need to pick up on their presentation, I think the Craft Channel has more reasonable charges...and I think their club has a one off payment, not monthly like Hochanda. It really puts me off when I see these television craft channels charging so much more for goods than you can find online somewhere. They are good for seeing what you can do with the products but sadly, I have to be desperate to buy from them any more.
I hope you are all inside well away from Storm Jake. He's really working hard here in my part of Cornwall. Next door's doormat has just flown across their garden and the two wheelie bins went down like an explosion just now!
Why on earth are they saying that yesterday was spring? It doesn't start until the 21st and it's way too cold to be spring yet. All the better for staying in and crafting though.
Happy windy Wednesday everyone.

Yvonne, I hope you get to see a really good doctor very soon as it seems so unfair that your life is so ruled by your migraines.
Well I am feeling very sorry for myself as my costochondritis is flaring. I am in so much pain that all my pain killers don't do their job. Not made my Mum's card yet either or got her present.
Sending love and hugs to Sue and all my other blog friends xxx
Wishing good things to all

Well I can't buy from Hochanda, so at least I'm not tempted by those shows, unless I go looking for an alternative supplier. Love the card though Sue, as always, you never fail to produce a beautiful card. I don't know how you do it.

Hi Sue
A stunning card and I love the Fanciful Trim die,not payed to much attention to it before but you've once again opened my eyes.

Unknown said...

Sue, This is Stunning! I can see this was not a simple card! Very elegant and I love the colors!

Suzzette Yandle said...

Gorgeous card! The Fanciful Trim is so very delicate looking and lovely. It reminds me of tatting my Great Aunt Etta would make. She tried to teach me to do tatting, but alas my knots would not slide. There is a lot going on with your card. Today, I put together my first recessed center card with a build up of the sentiment tag. I like it alot. I found it was more difficult to do this recessed area without making my card larger than the 5 x 7 card I usually make. One needs more layers to get the visual effect. I tried a second card trying to stay within my 5 x 7 inch size. I was able to get a less recessed look, but still got a look of depth by inking one white layer on the edges with the secondary color I was using. Gotta fool the eye! I used a varity of your dies on my card design. Your dies cut out so nicely. I am very pleased with the quality of your dies.
