Noel

Hello bloggers!  I had a little rummage around in some of my decorative papers for this card.  I selected a couple of patterned papers, however, I cannot recall what company makes them, they are quite old (I think they are Graphic 45).  I selected a green dotty paper for the base and I used the reverse side with the holly pattern on it for the top.  I cut a slit in the paper and rolled it away from the cut opening and glued it in place.  I stamped and cut the Poinsettia Stampcut, then coloured it with Distress Markers.  I layered it up with one of the smaller flowers in the set and then added some clear micro beads to the centre.  I cut two of the Holly Sprays in green and seated them with the flower to the left centre of the rolled paper.  I cut the Noel Bold word out of antique gold and shadowed it with a gold mirror card die cut.  The card was completed with white and red mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7"  x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue and all that visit.

A few weeks ago I mentioned I would be in and out of this beautiful place, the reason being our 41yr old daughter was waiting for results after biopsies and scans, but the provisional results didn't look good. 3 weeks prior she had been to see her doctor with breast pain, she was put on a 2 week course of antibiotics and they went on a family holiday. A return appointment with her doctor led to a hospital referral where 4 biopsies and a mammogram was performed. Then she phoned to give us the shock of our lives - our only child has breast cancer. The black curtain of fear swallowed us, how can this happen, she went to the gp why didn't she recognise these symptoms and this is why - age, at 41 that area feels so different it's hard to detect without the usual mammogram even then reading the films can be difficult which is why biopsies are taken, this explains why in the UK us ladies don't get invites for a mammogram until we reach 50 by then our breast tissues are easier to examine.
I contacted Sue yesterday regarding this post asking if she would give her blessings for me to do this as we as an international group of friends may have females in our families the same age as our daughter and if this message gets round our world to all friends here and just one young lady walks through the long dark tunnel and through to the warmth of the sun the other end then our nightmare will not be in vein. Our only child has just started the long road of Chemo, more scans, drugs in-between the chemo, possible surgery either mastectomy or lumpectomy either way its a long hard road.
This is the reason I've been in the background. I've been in the worst place I've ever known, but feel it's so important to make you my friends aware so you can help someone in your circle of friends or family understand the reason as to why this disease is so hard to detect in the under 50's which means its even more important to get help sooner, the best policy is if not sure and the signs are different to what we read or are told to look for but you're worried make an appointment with your doctor they would much prefer to refer you or a young friend or family member to get tests than see you when it's progressed. These past few weeks have knocked us all for 6 but I've gone 1 day without crying (yesterday) so now is the time to make all my dear virtual friends aware with Sue's kind permission.

Thank you Sue. Love you xx

Your card is so beautiful, so vintage looking, I love it.

Steph, my heart goes out to you. I can only imagine the pain you are going through , keep strong. This dreadful disease has touched two young women I know, daughters of two of my very close friends and as the mother of two daughters myself who are in their forties it is something that is always in the back of my mind. Both of these woman had it in different stages and I am pleased to say that both of them have come through this. You have a long road ahead but I am sending lots of love and hugs for you and your family xxx

Thank you for your messages of hope and best wishes. The main purpose behind my post is not to share my private life or to see how many replies it has, but more of a Breast Cancer Awareness post. We count ourselves fortunate, here at Particraft one of our long standing blog friends was taken from here by this disease, it must be 4yrs or so and I still remember how we all felt when news got round, parents every day here news like this and worse, parents of young children, so this is me doing our bit for Awareness nothing more nothing less. Thank you so much for being so kind and caring just spread the word that it's so difficult to diagnose at a young age so be Breast aware and if it's fibrous tissues brilliant but it has to be checked xxxx

Good Morning Sue. What a lovely card. I love the rolled up edges. And those papers are to die for. It reminds me of "Olde Worlde Victorian" craft. But I love it. And your beautiful dies set the whole thing off. Thankyou Sue. Sending hugs 🤗 and best wishes to everyone who needs them today.
PLEASE KEEP STAYING SAFE 🙏 🙏 🙏
Kind regards Ann Toppcards in Leeds.

THANKYOU SUE. for allowing STEPHANIE to post about her daughters Breast Cancer. My heart and prayers go out to Stephs family. Last year I went through the same with my lovely Sister. Luckily they caught it very early . She is now free from this horrible disease. I pray Steph that this will be the same for you and your family. Keep strong STEPHANIE 🙏

Hi Sue and everyone, I remember this card on the Christmas launch and thinking it was very unusual for your style Sue. Its still beautiful a little shabby chic style, but I prefer your style.

Steph, ive been so worried about you, not having seen you post for a while. Im so sorry to hear the sad news you are going through and wish you all love and healing hugs.
The same for you and your son Heather, my prayers go out to you both.

Healing hugs to everyone who may need them today.

Lovely style card. I have used the roll up technique in the distant past but it has to be a card handed to someone rather than sent through the post.

My thoughts are with Steph and Heather as they go through a most traumatic time. I sincerely hope that the outcome will be a positive one.

Hi Sue

A lovely card. I remember doing this technique ages ago, but had forgotten all about it. It’s nice to know that you, like all of us have a large old stash to rummage through and find forgotten items to use.

Thank you for giving your permission for Steph to spread the word about awareness of breast cancer. Let’s hope her words and suffering can help someone else.

Sending love and hugs to help you cope Steph. x

Also love and hugs to Heather. x

Love Helen xxx

Gorgeous, Sue, I've not made any cards for a while and this is making me want to check through my stash and get going again. I really want to try the paper roll effect for the Christmas cards for my neighbours (I don't think they would survive going through the post lol).
