Opalescent Snowflake Card

Hi crafters!  I know it is definitely not traditional, but it is kind of fun to let loose and do something that is very different for a Christmas card!  Also, this is the same technique as shown on a few cards in recent posts, so you can watch the video to see how it is done, then use the technique on any of your own creations!

Time for another question!  What is your favourite sweet treat?  Be it a candy bar or a special flavour of ice cream or type of yummy pastry.  What is your all time favourite special indulgent treat?  It may be hard to narrow mine down as I have the worst sweet tooth in the world!! LOL
If you can't narrow it down to just one, that's okay. list a few!

Morning Sue.
A lovely card, I shall watch the video later.
Sue I love ice cream, Turkish delight, and any pastry without cinnamon, sorry I do not like cinnamon, and of course any chocolate bar, Sue I wish they made chocolate covered Jelly Babies.
All for now take care and have fun Kitty.

Morning Sue, it may not be traditional, but it is a really lovely and modern card. The colours are great. My favourite sweet treat - floating islands pudding, but it takes forever to make, and there are very few restaurants that I have ever come across that make it. Have a good day everyone. Bx

Hello Sue and all
Beautiful opal polish background, it looks stunning. Very modern but gorgeous card.
I used to be a chocoholic but am lactose intolerant but not to worry, you can’t keep a good sweet tooth down, I still love turkish delight, marzipan, musk sticks and I make pavlova with our beautiful summer fruits and lactose free cream. Oooh I am drooling just thinking about it lol !!

Hi Sue. Decided to bring myself into the modern times and start instagram - what with the blog, and Paul's fb group now instagram I feel I'm a right stalker lol. Anyway I've really liked the past few backgrounds using this technique so I'll be watching your (see what I mean)?!! Lol.

Salted caramel no coconut no pineapple flavoured ice cream or could it be custard slice pastry, mind you there is a sticky toffee pudding bakery at market who makes large puddings that's surrounded by extra toffee sauce, heated up with all that sauce and cold cream, well that's the time I resemble Homer Simpson drewling (I only buy it for my son in law now but the plastic takeaway container comes in really useful to store my flowers) 😉

How's that for an indecicive answer, I'm equally indecisive with my card making too ! Whatever your plans for the day have fun xxx

Hello Sue, a lovely striking card, the shimmer is beautiful.

Lots of sweet treats I like, vanilla slices, brownies with warm chocolate, profiteroles, white chocolate and dark chocolate and anything with nuts. I'll stop there otherwise I will tempt myself!!! Xx

Good morning Sue.
A beautiful card and I'm saving the pleasure of watching the video until later.
My favourite dessert is Chocolate Juliette (made by my Daughter) but I lost my sense of taste and smell earlier in the year so I can no longer enjoy my VERY sweet tooth.
Have a good day.

Hi Sue,
A beautiful, contemporary style Christmas card that has convinced me that I NEED these opal polishes. Thank you for the tutorial.
As for my favourite sweet treat I could list a lot! Galaxy chocolate would have to be at the top of the confectionery list and the dessert that I struggle to stop eating is a lemon and lime non-Cheese cheesecake that's made with cream and evaporated milk, mmmmmmm! X

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, such a stunning and colourful sample, looking forward to seeing the video later.

Sue how can you have the worlds worst sweet tooth when you have a beautiful figure like you have, are you telling us 'porky pies'.

I have 3 favourite desserts, but don't indulge very often, they are Lemon Meringue pie, creme brulee and anything with marzipan on it. Now my secret is out which is why I am so big.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Hi Sue
Oh I am liking this not so traditional style. Different but definitely delightful. Love those colours. Will look forward to seeing what they are a bit later x
Favourite sweet treat? That is a hard one! There are so many. Think I would have to go with a pavlova. Yep I’m a sucker for a meringue. Got to be homemade so it’s crisp on the outside and all gooey on the inside. Not one to blow my own trumpet but I have mastered the art of the meringue in so many different forms and especially mastered the art of eating the whole lot - I don’t like waste!
Happy Tuesday everyone x

Traditional can be boring high is why we need more of the lovely cards like this one. Fabulous shimmery effect.

I rarely eat anything sweet but my Christmas pudding is to die for and the once-in-blue-moon sweet treat is a box of liquorice allsorts ... I haven’t had any since the last box I bought for my mum before she died nearly three years ago.

Different card using different colours. Unusual but Inlike it.
My favourite sweet treat is really good quality vanilla ice cream. Yum!

Fluffycat said...

Hi Sue, a very modern card with gorgeous colours and your snowflake is beautiful. I watched the video with interest to see you create the polish covered card and was pleased to see that it really requires very little skill to get a fantastic result. The hardest part for me would be deciding which colours to put together.

My favourite sweet treat is Caramel & Vanilla ice cream which comes with little pieces of fudge on top as soft fudge in any flavour is my favourite sweetie (we have a local company that make the most gorgeous stuff, some of it chocolate covered) and Turkish Delight comes a very close second.

I hope that you and all in Florida are safe and not too affected by storm Dorian.

Morning Sue, beautiful card, love how different the polishes look on white and black card! Great video!

I have a very sweet tooth so this is hard, I find ice-cream is my comfort food, chocolate (had to be Cadbury’s) used to be my weakness but somehow it doesn’t taste the same as it used to. My trouble is if I open a bag of sweets I can’t eat just one or two, I have to eat them all! Lol. Love Jean xxx

I love this card and find it quite modern!
I have a sweet tooth as well, love chocolate -ice cream and Cadbury's
Dairy Milk, Whole Nut and Bourneville! BUT it has to be imported from
the UK! So it really is a treat when family come over!

Three sweet treats I can’t resist, Marks and Spencer’s Scottish snowballs, tiramisu and Fry’s chocolate cream bar.

Love and hugs to everyone

Hi Sue,
At first glance you wouldn't think that this is a Christmas card. Whilst I love the background, I can't get excited about the snowflake. So sorry Sue. Great video though. You do work hard for us.
As for my favourite sweet treat. Actually I can't think of any that I don't like!! Pavlova and Summer pudding/chocolate bread and butter pud, are my favourite dinner desserts, but anything chocolatey is my evening 'go to'. However, I am on a diet at present. No idea why I put weight on.lol
Hugs xx Pauline

Love it!

I will be boring and say that I don't really have a special indulgence - I do have pretty good will-power when it comes to that sort of thing and I can resist most things - though I don't even fancy them in the first place ;D

Wow, this article makes me crave sweets! However, I also have to remind everyone that too much sweets can have negative effects on our dental health. That is why it is important to regularly visit a trusted dentist, such as in this dentistry.
