High/Low Vase Card

Hi crafters!  I am revisiting another favourite technique in today's video; the high/low technique which uses gilding flakes and micro beads for two different textures.

The winner of this week's Wednesday Card Giveaway is:

Sharon Lonsdale!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.

The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Lovely card Sue, just perfect.
Congratulations to lucky Sharon, you will be so pleased.
Elaine, enjoy the visit with your SIL, she will love your company, hope she is feeling better. Take care and don't do too much, you need a rest too.
Tracey, I hope yesterday wasn't too hard for you, I hope you and your sister remembered all the good fun times with your lovely dad. I was talking about my dad yesterday and I could literally hear his voice in my head. They never leave you honey, they are just in another room waiting and watching over you.
Muriel your holiday sounds fabulous, it will soon be here.
P what a hoot, it sounded such fun. We had a reject sheepdog when children, the farmer thought he was useless but he used to herd my toddler brother and keep him away from anything that could hurt him, they were a picture together, I reckon he was a good sheepdog.
Good news on the Kid Carmen, about time fir him too.
Rosemary, hope you have recovered from your traumatic week. Have a great time with your sister.
Kitty, enjoy your carnival weekend, do you have a costume hmm.
Have a good Saturday all. Hugs to missing, poorly friends and carers of friends.

Hi Sue. Sending good wishes your way this Saturday 🌹

I'm sorry but I'm not 100% sure about this sample. I love the background technique, and I just love the vase and the Lily of the valley die, but I'm not sure if the background is too dark or the vase and flowers too stark, I know there will be many after my comment that totally disagree with me but we all have our own opinion and we are all entitled to that. I love the design but if I were as talented as you and could replicate this I'd use different colours. Many congratulations to Sharon, what a great day for you ☺

I hope I've not offended you Sue. Sending love n hugs your way xxx

Clever card, Sue, have all the ingredients for the high-low (or hi-lo?) so may give it a whirl. Don't think I'd have the patience to dot the vase but it's your extra touches that really make the card special. Thanks as ever for the video.
Fluffycat - yes, should have used Yeti! Actually had one stroke of his back yesterday without injury! A piece of good news is that my half-mile neighbour whose cat was attacked and disappeared - Pale Face has returned, thinner but okay. She is hugely pleased that Yeti is under control.
Izzy - despite being in sheep country and indeed pretty near the National Wool Museum in Wales, there is no market for odd fleeces. Actually they are pretty grotty after having been lived in for a year! Black bin bag day yesterday, so they've already gone to the landfill site. Have thought about a new hobby - but no!!
Well done to Sharon on the card win.
All well said, Pam, thank you and hanging on to your comments.
Hugs.

Hello Sue
Like a few others I love the background and the vase but not together that's why I love your blog so much you challenge us to think outside the box.

Hi Sue
Well you've got us all thinking with this one today haven't you. I really love this vase, it reminds me of one of my mothers vases that is now in my possession and the Lilly of the valley reminds me of my childhood and my wedding so both are very dear to me. The background technique is great, thank you for the reminder. I think the card is a lovely combination but it looks like there will be a split vote on this one today! Wouldn't life be boring though if we all liked the same thing. Take care

Hi Sue,

Really striking card today, the background is just stunning and is one of my favourite techniques to play with...the Hobnail Vase and the Lily of the Valley are both on the wish list already, they go so well together, love the glossy accents dots on the vase, they do show up well in the close-up shots.

P in Wales - I assumed that you'd find a ready market for those fleeces, what with Prince Charles promoting all the benefits of wool over the synthetic fibres we have to put up with nowadays, especially as wool has much better fire-retardant properties and doesn't kill people with toxic fumes...a subject very much in the news lately...as well as it's other advantages - sometimes the man talks sense! lol

Congratulations to Sharon on her card win...

Hi Sue, I'm sorry but I am glad to see that I am not alone today in being unsure of this card. Love the techniques and adore the hobnail vase and lily of the valley but it just doesn't 'do it' for me and I don't think that is just because there is a lot of black :-)

'P' - thrilled that Pale Face has returned at last, your half-mile neighbour will be so relieved. Congratulations on your one stroke, baby steps now. I am sure there will be home spinners across the country groaning at the loss of your fleeces, it seems such a waste but I know what you mean about a new hobby.
Crewe Trish - my thoughts are with you and your mum as you lay your brother to rest. My brother-in-law is buried in a woodland cemetery and it is so beautiful and peaceful there; my sister has bought the adjacent plot for herself.
Sharon - Congratulations on being this week's Wednesday Winner, enjoy your lovely 'left-over' card.
