Just For You

Hi there my crafty friends!  I just couldn't go too long without doing a Fire and Ice technique card!  I started with a square piece of milk card and used the decorative dies from the Centaurus Triple Gemini die set to cut into each of the four sides of the square.  I covered the front of the card with a sticky adhesive sheet and then turned the card over and added Summer Meadow Gilding Flakes to the exposed areas for the "fire" part of the technique.  I used a piece of Rubit Scrubit pad to move the flakes into place and refine them to remove the excess.  I peeled off the other side of the backing paper on the front and coated it with Iced Snow for the "ice" part of the technique.  I cut the Antwerp die out of milk card and backed it with milk and seated it in the centre of the card.  I cut the smaller die from the Antwerp set also in milk and backed it with milk card for a tonal look.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the small oval from the set and used a gold paint pen around the edge.  I seated it in the centre of the dies.  The card was completed with gold and milk mats.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Gorgeous Card Sue, it's lovely.
I'm saddened that once again someone has chosen to comment again on the length and contents of our posts. I totally agree with Patricia, Myra and all of the other comments. This is a happy supportive blog led by the most fantastic blog Momma ever. I too remember Sues beautiful posts about her lovely heroic father and her gorgeous mother. Sue has often said that she gets to know her Wilsonettes through our posts and she was so supportive when I lost my Tim. Please please if you don't want to read them pass them by, I don't take offence at short or irregular posts, therefore don't take offence at mine. No one on this blog would ever disrespect Sue, she is the reason we are here and here we will stay as long as she wants us. Carmen, yes this is the best blog ever.
To all my friends on the blog and they are very very many, I hope you are all well, big hugs to you all
Elaine I hope Andrew is feeling stronger.
Tina, big hugs for you honey.
Gang Of Nine, Rock on ladies, you are hilarious, my daily tonic.

Morning Sue. WOW - I've just enlarged the picture and am amazed at how intricate the triple Gemini is and looks with the guilding flakes behind, it's absolutely gorgeous. A truly stunning card Sue.
One thing I will mention that has been bothering me for a few weeks, is that you may also remember another post Sue wrote early last February - or maybe not I don't know, but it seems it had been totally pushed to one side, I kept looking back at the posts for a few days and wondering why on earth had no-one sent a thoughtful caring word to Sue, now I maybe speaking out of turn and I apologise and I also know Sue likes to keep life private, but the year before Sue had also had her own upsetting time to deal with but I didn't read one single "thinking of you" post, and I'll put my hands up now and admit that hurt and upset me, so many comments left to other followers of this blog, but not one to show you had Sue in your thoughts also at this time. Now for all I know you may have sent your own personal email to Sue showing you were thinking of her and her family at that time, but when you read over and over again messages of support to a dozen or so people it just angered me a little no - a lot, to think all Sue does for us all, well, that's all I'm saying.
Sorry Sue if this has offended and delete if it does, but I just needed to put things into perspective here as it's been eating away at me for weeks now.
I'll send a warm and apologetic hug your way, and also thank you for a beautiful piece of inspiration xxx

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, oh such a beautiful creation today, I do love bling and this fire and ice technique ticks the boxes for me, it also shows off the lovely dies.

Pam I totally agree with your comments, this is a very FRIENDLY blog with beautiful creations by Sue and lots of wonderful information, tips and techniques. It is also a very supportive blog for so many people who benefit from it daily. It is so nice to share the joys and tribulations of our daily lives with friends. It is such a shame that these negative comments are also overflowing onto facebook as well, why upset people in this way, I am sure Sue is devastated by it all.

I am off to another craft group this morning, not sure what we are making so that will be a nice surprise.

Special hugs to everyone that need them xx

Oh Wow Sue - this is a stunner...I do love the fire and ice technique and use it as often as I can get away with it - never for men of course...lol...and the Centaurus die is perfect cut around the page to make a doily pattern to show off all that bling...

CARMEN - one thing you will come to appreciate as you start to collect Sue's dies is how often she includes as many separate plain outer cutting dies in each set as she can get away with...this may not seem a BIG thing at the moment but believe me, it's such a useful feature and will give your cardmaking so many more options that you will probably never want to buy any other dies!

Hi Sue and everyone

Sorry I have missed a couple of days. The cards were wonderful though, as is this beauty today. I especially loved the shoe one from yesterday.

Myra, sorry for the late reply. My scrunched up nasturtiums were ok, but obviously not as good as Sues. I am always far too critical or my own work. I didn't like them at all at first and admit I think I made them worse by inking the edges. ( they were made from vellum). I have not used them on a card yet, so they may look better in place. I think I prefer them made from cardstock though, and have yet to scrunch them using that. Still in love with the nasturtiums dies though.

Love Helen xxx

To My Wonderful Dear Friend Sue,
"WOW" What A Truly Tremendous Stunning Very Beautiful Card
I Just Love All The Products You've Used For Your Card Today And I Love How You Breakdown Each
Part Of Your Card In Such Great Detail So We Can Follow And Duplicate If We Wish:
Wonderful Products:

"The Centaurus Triple Gemini Die Set"
"The Sticky Adhesive Sheet" "The Iced Snow" "The Summer Meadow Gilding Flakes" "The Rubit Scrubit Pad"
"Milk And Gold Foundation Card" Also "Gold Paint Pen" "Pearls"
Now Today's - Card For Me Is Just "Magical" "Magnificent" A First Class "Masterpiece"
I Just Love How You Started With A Piece Of Square "Milk Card" (Great Size) And Then Cut Out Four Times Using
"The Centarus Die" Cutting Them Into The Sides Of Your Square, Then You Covered With A "Sticky Adhesive Sheet"
Turned Your Card Over, This Is Where You Added "The Striking Summer Meadows Gilding Flakes" To All The Exposed

Using Your "Rubit Scrubit" To Refine And Remove The Excess Of "The Gilding Flakes, Straight Back Into The Pot,
No Waste Then Removing The Other Side Of The Backing Paper On The Front Of Your Card This Is When You Coated
It With "The Luxurious Iced Snow" Creating "The Ice" Part Of Your Wonderful Technique, Then You Cut Out
"The Antwerp Die" In Milk Card And Backed In Milk Which Gives A Tone On Tone Look, Taking The Smaller Die From

Good evening Sue,
It's definitely an other WOW today. I love what you have created using the Centaurus die, it's stunning. And fire and ice! Whenever I see fire and ice I always think of you, quite a few years ago whilst demonstrating that technique on tv you confessed to having an irresistible urge to just throw the whole contents of the pot of gilding flakes up into the air and you looked so mischievous, it made me laugh and I've never forgotten it.
On a sadder note
I'm struggling to find the right words about the feel of many of today's posts, I can't understand why anyone who cares for Sue would criticise a fellow follower for leaving a longer post just because they themselves don't do it.
Sue herself said a little while ago that she wants to read the comments about people sharing their lives, just asked that they were more upbeat, the length of the posts was never mentioned.
And if anyone is in any doubt at all just how much Sue appreciates getting to know her followers through their comments please look back to the post of 20th April 2014.
June, thank you for mentioning the fb posts, I have now looked at the negative comments you mentioned which were posted just over a week ago and was both angry and truly saddened by what was put there and the derogatory terms used were uncalled for. I've thought long and hard about it and decided to ask Sue whether she would like to see them and if so will forward a copy of them to her.
I truly hope all this unrest will pass quickly and we can get back to being the lovely caring Wilsonette family that Sue deserves.
Love and hugs

Good evening Sue
This is a truly beautiful card so very opulent as only you can make them, the fire and ice give the card a dimension all of it's own. Thank you for showing us all this wonderful card.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Oh my gosh, boy do i love the Fire and Ice technique, its eye catching and simply gorgeous. Glitter and gilding flakes are two of my favourite ingredients and nothing beats the impact of incorporating them together in one card. The Centaurus die is a positive beauty, i love the design you have created with it, its clearly so much more than just a border. It is a sparklicious sample of your design genius Sue, thankyou for sparking my dormant imagination yet again:-)
I don't quite know how to put this Sue without causing offence or upset but i am finding it very difficult reading the blog over the past two days. This blog is your baby and it was created i think to reach out and share with like minded individuals and it achieves all that and then some. However yesterday i was upset and angry that some people seem to think that they have the right to dictate the content and length of the comments...when i write my comment i do so in the knowledge that you will read it and hopefully enjoy it, that's what matters to me most and if other friends on the blog appreciate my nonsense then that makes me happy too. Can i just address the comments made today about people choosing to ignore events in your life, i respect that you are a deeply private person and as such i try to tailor my comments accordingly. Just to explain, i remembered your event because it occurred 1-2 weeks before my own Dad sadly passed so you have been heavily in my thoughts lately as a result. Rightly or wrongly i chose not to refer to it on the blog because i thought that it violated your privacy and may cause upset to you and i took to heart your request at keeping the blog cheery and optimistic. I am sorry if this assumption was wrong and you would have appreciated some comforting words like has been implied but i refuse to feel responsible for other peoples anger and upset regarding the matter, like i say your feelings Sue are of paramount importance to me only.
My intention isn't to stoke up more trouble on the blog but i am tired of people creating problems where none should exist....they claim to care about the integrity of the blog and your feelings but they cause undue stress and upset to you and to what is normally a loving, supportive and kind forum.
I'll get off my soapbox now in the hope that we can return to normal again for Sue's sake primarily.
Sending my usual hugs to Yvonne, Maureen, Myra, P, Pam, Pat, Lynda, Theresa, Maria, Frances, Wheely, Deb C, TinaT, Nanna Tina, Tracey, Elaine&Andrew, Norah and the rest of the Gang of Ninexxxx

Hi sue.

Stunningly blingy today. I love it!!!! Loads a detail too.
I hope u are well and that these posts aren't upsetting u too much. Can't believe it's all kicked off again. It's so sad really. Seems to be one person in particular by reading all the posts. Honestly there's more important things to be worrying about in life than what people post!! Sorry sue but I'm getting fed up with people squabbling over nothing as I'm sure u are too.

Love to all my fellow wilsonettes so please everyone be kind eh???? Xxxx

A beautiful card today Sue. I really must try the Fire and Aice technique. No excuse I have everything needed to do it apart from today's lovely die but my order came today and I didn't order that one. Bought two other Gemini's so perhaps I will try one of those. Just got to get on with it. Been busy with my granddaughter this week, who you have met on more than one occasion Sue , and is looking forward to seeing you again at Ally Pally. Try keeping her away. nil chance. Love to all my friends.

Hi Sue a very beautiful card loving the sparkle .

Pam, Saba and Lorraine , i agree with all your comments , i have thought all day about the negative comments made , it just takes one [ Again } to start a commotion and upset with one comment ,then others jump on the band wagon and add their pennyworth .
Someone said they feel as if they are in a Doctors Surgery ?
well i feel i am in a School being dictated to by the prefects wanting to play at being the teacher ? are we next going to be told how many words we can write per day ? .

Sorry Sue this is not right and not fair to you by me commentating in this way , but this is how i feel.
Most of these wonderful caring people on your blog only want to help and give support to others who have loved ones going through a bad time, take the time to wright long posts that are funny and amusing , and i am not the only one to enjoy reading them all, they bring many a smile and a chuckle and even a happy memory now and again .

Stephanie , i personally E/mailed Sue and got a reply back from Sue saying that so many of her lovely blog followers were helping her with their kind caring comments , and if i remember rightly there were a few lovely comments left for Sue on her blog too at this sad time .

I hope that all this is not too upsetting for you Sue , you really do not deserve all this .I hope things can settle down again soon .

Sending caring hugs to those who need them.

Evening Sue
Well what can I say but wow!! The fire and ice technique is a glitzy winner every time. You sure know how to brighten my day with cards such as this. Gorgeous x
I really did not think I was going to get a chance to comment today as I am staying at my Aunt and Uncles but have managed to get on line.
Oh my word Wilsonettes - can we all just take a step back a deep breath and count to ten x
One thing we can all agree on is that Sue is the most amazing, kind, generous and warm lady we have the pleasure of 'knowing'. So can we just spare a thought for how heartbreaking all the tension on her wonderful blog must be when she reads all this bickering.
I think that life is so incredibly short and we have all found this blog because of our love of craft and our admiration of Sue.
There are so many of us who comment regularly but do not know each other very well but surely we can put any differences aside and appreciate each others individuality and appreciate the one thing we all have in common - crafting x
We all lead such different lives and unless you are fully aware of circumstances and all the facts then does it really matter or hurt for anyone to write more than a couple of lines x
It is completely understandable that if a comment is very graphic, offensive or negative this could very well upset the mood of this truly uplifting haven. However, are any of us in a position to judge another for expressing their feelings when we have not got a clue about their circumstances or situation.
It is personal choice as to how much or little one writes in a comment. It is also personal choice as to which comments we choose to read.
Please let's all draw a line under all this ill feeling and live and let live. The length of peoples comments is surely not as upsetting as all the discord and animosity which has been so evident in the last day or so.
If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. Can this please be the end of it x
Take care each and everyone of you.
Happy thoughts
Lots of love
Crafty hugs

Wow Sue, I am speechless! My first thought: I won’t be able to make anything close to this not in a million years! Why? First of all because I had no idea what Fire and Ice Technique is! Ladies, you are allowed to smile or even to laugh but not for too long because Now I know! I Google it and I found a video from 2014 where Sue explained so well how she created a very similar card using this technique. (I feel smarter than yesterday!)
-
Sue, you make the impossible possible. In my spare time I watch and re-watch your videos. It is the way I learn. I chose you as my “teacher “(hope you don’t mind) not only because you explain everything so well but your smile, calm, elegance make me comfortable and gave me hopes that one day I will be able to create beautiful cards like yours.
-
A little bit about me and how I end up on this blog: last December I was looking for Christmas Cards to send back home to my family. (By the way, we are living in Toronto. Both sides of our families are in Romania.) Lots of cards, some stunning, some not, but pricey. So I decided to make my own cards, on my own way, with my own “stamp”. I made four. Unfortunately 2 of them got lost. At least my mom got hers. Looking on the net for materials, tools, techniques, ideas, lessons I found some of Sue’s cards, videos and a store where I can buy Sue’s beautiful dies. Hope this summer to go to this store. Checking store’s site I found Sue’s blog and ... here I am!
-
Izzy – you are so right! Sue’s dies are not only beautiful but you have the options to play with the whole set or use partial only. As you said it is a useful feature.
-
Thank you, Maria for your warm welcome. Hope I answered to some of your question.

Sorry ladies, I am not in UK! And English is not my mother tongue. I apologize for any grammatical errors or expression. I have no intention to offend anybody whatsoever.
Hope this blog is open for whoever wants to meet new, kind, supportive, funny, smart people like all of you.
-
Oh , my I did! Probably this will be the first and last time I write such a long comment. At the end of the day I am still a shy person.

Have a great weekend ladies!

Hello Sue,
What a fantastic card and a great video to do with it! I don't have any of the Pacific Ocean Dies but I love the hexagonal shapes in the centre and there are so many cutting choices! I haven't made a gate fold card for ages but you have inspired me to have a go again . Love the " belt " too. What a beautiful finishing touch! To top it all you made it in my favourite colours! Thank you.
Carmen - what a lovely post from a lovely enthusiastic lady! Sue has lots of techniques , doesn't she! Like you I saw Sue once on TV and that was it! I was hooked! Her Dies are amazing and I rarely buy any others! I had to buy some sheep and a cows!! Sue hasn't ventured into the world of farming just yet!! Lol! As for your English - better than mine!! I'm a Scot living in England and we are called sassenachs !! Try saying that without your teeth in! Ha ha!
Congratulations Patriciah on your win - you won a real beauty!
Just had text from Saba a short time ago as she was " running out the door! ". Careful !!! Safe travel my dear and hopefully no delays!
PP - have you been to Phill's shop yet? Does he have any stock left ? Good to hear from you and know you are having a good time.
Pam - I , too, got a wee fright but you were there after all! Phew! Sending a hug or two!
Love to You Sue and all lovely friends on this special blog!

Everyone was wrapped up in others illness and their lives in general that it had been completly forgotten that it was around the time Sue had posted about the loss of her mother and not one single of the regulars posted that they were thinking of her this time of year, or said that she was in your thoughts on the first year anniversary. I wasn't leaving comments this time last year as I was knew to all the blog know how then but I remember Sue's post and was sure that she would get many thinking of you messages left considering this is the lady to who this blog belongs so I was shocked that no-one had the decency to let her know her bad times has not been forgotten.
