Happy Birthday

Good Sunday morning all!  Today's card is one that is made with a single die, but I really like that it is lively and bright!  I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card with the Jacobean Floral embossing folder for some background texture.  Next I cut a wide strip of white card and backed it with sky blue for a thin mat.  I raised it with foam and attached it to the centre of the background.  Next I cut the Belgian Tag three times in white.  I stamped my Happy Birthday sentiment three times in black and cut each of them out with the inside die from the tag.  I mounted each with foam on top of the tags.  I cut a strip of blue and white Grosgrain ribbon and wove it through the edges of each of the tags as there is a thin slit there that is just perfect for ribbon.  I attached the three tags down the centre strip of the card, cutting the end of the ribbon into a fork and wrapping the top around the back of the card.  I tied a double bow and attached it at the top of the card.  I completed the card with a simple white on white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.

The winners of this week's comment game are:

Christine Collins!!!
Pussycats!!!
Vie Carter!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Love this card, it's beautiful.
Congratulations to comment game winners.
Loving the Hichanda shows with the CE gang, although Phil in camouflage with his grey waistcoat underneath is not a good look. Their demos have been fab, especially with Sues dies. Yah the bow is back.
Elaine, it's good to hear Andrew is a little better, it must make you feel better too. Mums always feel what their children are going through and it's hard to watch. Big hugs for you and Andrew, special one for Helen too.
Yvonne, I hope your parents are feeling better and that you are keeping well. Good advice from Myra re Maureen.
Tracey, I too was shopping at Craftworld yesterday, online though, otherwise we could have had a coffee. You did have a good splurge with your voucher.
TinaT, these early days are so difficult. You will be exhausted and missing Peter, do what you have to do to get through them, I'm thinking of you constantly. Theresa, you are right, a kind word or thought really does give comfort.
NannaT, always in my thoughts.
Thank you for my well wishes, I will obey the doctor . No antibiotics this time, it is viral, just really tired all of the time.
Hugs to all, keep warm and safe.

Hi Sue
What a fresh looking card really brightens these grey days. Using a single die works a treat. Crafting with my grand daughter today, bring on the Pixie powders she just adores them.

Hi Sue and Blogettes,

The verticality of this card appeals to me, but I keep trying to weave it differently in my imagination. Maybe stamp the sentiment on only the middle one, and weave the ribbon so it goes over the first and third tags and under only the middle one. So you get a little stretch of ribbon over the blank white of 1 and 3, and it disappears under the sentiment of 2. That's what my imagination wants to try.
Beautiful colors, and lovely color names.

After reading the comments about the Hichanda demos, I watched on the website. (I'm in the U.S.) So thrilling! On the next screen over, I had the pounds to dollars converter cluing me in. It must have been 10 a.m. Saturday your time when I watched. Is John the short guy doing the demos? Loved him!!! Picked up a great tip, too, about using wide clear tape like handles to place the decorative inner die centered exactly within the outer cutting die. Wax paper covers any tape that would stick to the card you're cutting, and you can don't have to keep lining it up every time. Used that trick all day when my stamping group got together (6 of us) for a Sue Wilson die-cutting play day. We had four Cuttlebugs, a Platinum 6 and a full-size Platinum. I brought all my Sue Wilson dies, and they brought paper.

At our last gathering, I had brought what Festive Collection dies I had, plus a few others, and the hostess picked up the Star Flower Cluster. Next thing I knew, the first notes of Sue's video theme music were playing on her iPad, and Sue taught her how to make a card with that set, and soon she was replicating doing it too! (Black with red flowers) Everybody else spent a lot of today learning stuff like you had to put on the outer cutting edge if you want the shape to come away from the card you cut it from, and understanding the concept of the Geminis. It was blowing their minds!

They couldn't believe the embossing folders, either, especially the Nordic and the fantail.

The giraffe from the stuffed animals tried to escape, but he didn't get far. He was purple at the time. And a striped nasturtium petal clanged to the floor in the kitchen, and disappeared. The kitchen island is on wheels, and the hostess pushed it all over the kitchen to no avail. I found it by running my ruler under her hutch and hearing a little clang.

We started at 3 p.m. Every few minutes someone would look at what she had just freed from up the die and exclaim how cute or beautiful it was, and everyone else would want to see and join in the exclamations. By 10 p.m. we were getting good but had to start heading home. Everybody had a gallon-size zip-lock bag of die cuts to take home and create with. I cut lots of tags for sentiments for the 200 simple cards I'm making for my dad. He'll be 85, and he's very good about sending thank-yous, get wells, sympathies and happy birthdays. All he needs is a panel of patterned scrapbook paper cut a quarter-inch smaller than the folded white card, with a sentiment on a white decorative tag, raised with mounting foam. But he'll be getting some much fancier than that!

So I had a Sue Wilson day from way before dawn to almost 11p.m., with my favorite people. Might not be able to move Sunday from schlepping so many heavy bags, but it was so worth it!

Enjoy your winning ways, you lucky three!

Have a peaceful day of rest. It's healing, whether you need a lot of rest for big healing or just more than on weekdays for routine maintenance.
Love,
Donita in R.I.

To My Wonderful Dear Friend Sue
First Of All I'd Like To Apologies For Not Commenting Yesterday Everything Just Went
Wrong, I Watched The Video With Your Stunning "Shadowbox Card" It Was Quite Remarkable
But I'm Not Surprised.
Today's Card Is Extremely Exquisite, I Just Love The Tremendous Colour Combination Of
"The Coconut White/Sky Blue" It Always Reminds Me Of (Wedgewood Blue)
Then Using "The Extremely Detailed Jacobean Embossing Folder" Which Is So Elaborate
And So Very Detailed The Embossing Is Just So Very Very Perfect.
Then You Used "The Stupendous Belgian Tag" So Exquisite It Looks Like "Lace" Behind Your
Sentiment, Talking Of Sentiments You Cut The Next Die For Your Sentiment From The Inside Of
"The Belgian Tag"
I Just Adore "The Extremely Exquisite, Blue/White Grosgrain Ribbon"
(I Still Have A Wide Range Of Colours Of This Tremendous Ribbon Which I Purchased From Sam's Shop)
I Love How You've Woven The Ribbon Through The Edges Of The Tags As They Have Slits In Just Perfect
For Ribbon, As Always Love The Bow With The Diamanté I Just Love "Today's Masterpiece".
Sue Thank You For Sharing Today's Beautiful Card, You Inspire Me Each And Everyday I Truly Appreciate That.
I Know Your Extremely Busy Elsewhere At The Moment, But Like Many Would Have Loved To Have Seen You With
The Rest Of The Team On "Hochanda" They Are Doing A Tremendous Job Sharing Lots Of Tips And Technique's Its
Great That You All Work So Very Well Together, I Also Enjoyed Julia's Previous Shows With Your "Weaving Die"

Good afternoon (it's still morning when i started this) Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Oh this one is pretty Sue, every bit of it from the bow to the embossing folder to the little dies that have made up the labels showing that you don't need a big die to make an impression or statement on a card. Such a beautifuul card that could be for so many different occasions just changing the sentiment up each time. Thank you flower for such a beautiful card that really opens up all our dies to our mind. I hope that you are having a lovely time where ever you are, but i know you will not be far away from that pencil and pad, hmmm? Enjoy.
Well i haven't been able to see hochanda as i have a hubby that won't let me watch any craft programmes when he is in as he says that it just tempts me to spend money on "rubbish", not quite the name he had for it but it is nicer. When i got the email i only recognised Phill because of his white shirt and cufflinks. Who dresses in comando gear with white shirt and cufflinks other than Phill? It doesn't do anything for him and i bet it felt strange for him not being groomed to the last enth of degree as there is no way you can make comando gear look tidy and pristine.
Donita, i am so pleased that you had a ball yesterday with your Sue Wilson day with your friends, although i bet the day just flew in as i find that when i am out with my very special friends. We meet up for two days and it is gone in a twinkling although a lot of laughter and fun has taken place in that period. Like in October introducing one of our beautiful friends to Poundland who had never been, it was hilarious for all even if we did go around that car park umpteem times trying to meet up. So, yes flower, special friends make days go oh so fast that you can't wait until the next time and start counting down the days.
Oh Elaine flower, i'm sorry that you're not feeling well the now but you have had an awful lot of things on your mind between horrible neighbours and your sons who are both needing TLC. Sending you down a hug flower and i hope that you are back up and feeling better soon. I'm glad that Andrew is having a better few days and that he will soon be finished this horrible treatment. A hug for Helen as well, the days do go bye and soon it's a week, then two, then a month but you learn to cope and deal with it as the years go bye, i won't say that you ever forget because you don't and never will, but you do start to remember the good times and even some of the bad that you wanted to strangle him or maybe that was just my brother Jim. Anyway flower, take each day as it comes and i hope that some day soon you can start to laugh again.
Well done to all this weeks comment winners, i hope that you have a lovely time playing with your new crafty win.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Apologies for being AWOL the past few days but i have only had time to make flying visits to the blog, life has just got in the way.
I have missed some gorgeous cards and a wonderful tutorial in my absence, I particularly loved the distressed shadow box card yesterday, the use of kraft card and pencils was ingenious, and the little tools used are just so dinky and cute.
In relation to today's wonderful offering, only you could create a thing of beauty by using just one die. I really like the way you have threaded the ribbon through the tag die and i echo the request of others for you to create another video demonstration of various bows.....the one you do with the multiple tails is a particular favourite that i have tried to recreate with my Bowmaker but without success, i can get a double or triple bow but only with one set of tails, hope that makes sense:-)
Well ladies, yesterday was a day of pure unadulterated joy Casa Eastwood when I received my box, yes BOX!, of cards from Sue:-) I couldn't quite believe my eyes when i opened it to find ELEVEN beautifully presented samples! Sue couldn't find all of the orphans so she included some of her other cards that have featured on the blog, i am overwhelmed and speechless with gratitude, she is such a lovely generous spirit and we are so lucky that she has created this forum for her talents. I was literally walking on air all day long, trying to decide which cards would take pride of place on my craft room wall, what an enviable position to be in.....I don't know about you but receiving a Sue original has been my ultimate dream even though many other wonderful prizes are given away by this lovely lady i will prize and cherish these the most. And i wish you all the best of luck in one day being the lucky recipient.
Update on YVonne, i have spoken to her a couple of times a over the past few days and she informs me that her Mum is making a speedy recovery, she is actually expected to be discharged in the next couple of days just as soon as a social care package can be organised for her. Her Dad is also on the mend and flourishing with the benefit of her good home cooking, Yvonne even braved a trip to Tesco with her Dad driving.....no mean feet at 80 but it did take slightly longer than anticipated due to his speed limit of 20mph:-)
She has passed on her love to everyone and made a particular mention of Tina whom she passed on her condolences too
There are plans afoot to meet dear old Maureen later this week too but fear not ladies, Yvonne has assured me that i will still be her Thelma!:-)
Maureen, don't feel that you have to be nice or even civil to Yvonne when you meet, i always find that she responds better to the stick than the carrot;-)
Myra, you were uncharacteristically kind about Maureen, are you just trying to lull Yvonne into a false sense of security?
Norah, lovely to have you back, haven't the Hills been as pretty as a picture this week?
Pam, I'm sorry that you're feeling poorly again, make sure you get plenty of rest and stay out of the cold and damp until you've perked up again. Take carexx
Donita, what a great get together! I really wish that i had a group of craft buddies living close by too, it sounded a riot....how time flies when you're having fun.
Elaine, hope you had a lovely day with Andrew and Helen and that you feel full of beans again soon...you have been through so much as a family that its no wonder you're feeling under par, maybe the GP could give you a tonic?
Tina, my heart goes out to you and Owen, I pray that you find the strength to surmount this challenge and that in time you will be able to focus on your memories of the good times with Peter, he was lucky to have such a devoted wife and vice versa. Please take comfort from your blog friends, we are all here for youxxx
Huge hugs to all my special blog buddiesxxx

Hello Sue,
I'm very late today! It's been a busy family day although I did look in this morning! A beautiful card once again and I do love this ribbon. I still have some in several colours but am almost scared to use it now! How silly is that! I really like the happy birthday buttons!
Donita - I read your post this morning and you really put a smile on my face! It sounds as if you had a super day and lots of fun. Thank you for telling us about it!
Laine - I wasn't going to comment today but I read your post and that too lifted my spirits! How exciting to receive your box of goodies! I'm sure it really made your day! What a lovely gift. Enjoy them , my friend.
Thanks too for the news on Yvonne's Mum and Dad! It's lovely to hear that both are making good progress!
I'm usually as cheeky to Maureen as you are to Yvonne - well nearly!!! I'm sure you will agree that you can only do that with a good friend! Maureen has had to lie down in a dark room today to get over the shock!! Wouldn't we like to be flies on the wall when they meet up this week!!!
Thanks Pam , please keep up the good work!
Love to Tina, Tina and Elaine. Thinking of you all. Thanks Sue.
Love Myra xxx
