Anything For You

Hi crafters!  Think purple and a deeper sort of aubergine colour for today's card.  I started by cutting the Pavo die in opposite ends of a piece of coconut white card.  I used just the outer cutting edge with the decorative insert to do this.  I selected a piece of deep aubergine card (from my stash) and cut a backing piece to go beneath the edges, using just the Pavo cutting edges to do so.  I added mounting foam to the back and added it over another larger piece of white card where I attached a strip of double sided adhesive paper to each end.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated the strips with Iced Snow to add some sparkle to the edges.  For the focal element, I cut the Sintra die in white and backed it with a solid white piece.  I cut two of the Portuguese corners and attached them to the ends of the Sintra die and placed the entire piece in the centre of the card.  Next, I stamped my sentiment and cut it with the Lisbon die on the outside and the inner Sintra die around it, leaving it in the die and inked over the top with Dusty Concord to stencil some colour on to them.  I added this piece to the centre of the card with mounting foam.  I completed the card with a white pierced mat, a thin aubergine mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes...I have been absent but it has been wonderful to catch up on your cards as they are an absolute delight & well worth the wait, & today’s card is no exception; it is stunningly beautiful. Love the colour card & the dusty concord is now on my list. Thank you for sharing with us Sue & as always I really appreciate your generosity in sharing with us. Not sure who all the winners are but sincerest congratulations from me x x x

My sincere apologies for my absence my friends, I’m sorry to say that my chronic ME kicked in after I had decorated the craft/study room – which I knew it would do but to me it was worth it simply because I had achieved the impossible by decorating & completion & also because it looks clean & fresh & so much better than it did before. Also I have had severe bouts of coughing which causes me to heave my food & fluids, on a Thurs I ate a small piece of grilled chicken with chickpeas & salad but brought it up undigested on the Sat, this has concerned the doctor, to begin with we thought it may have something to do with fluid from my heart overfilling my lungs but he seems to think that 48 hr undigested food may suggest a blocked oesophagus (the exit has shrunk?) so I have to have some tests done, when I don’t know as an appointment has to come through to see a consultant who will then authorise the tests.

Besides, even with going to work I had to rest & recover as tomorrow it is my Birthday & I’m hoping to be well enough to go to see the lovely Tracey demonstrating at CE HQ in the morning, I have a little birthday money to buy some SW/CE goodies. I would also like to help with the poppy collecting inside one of our local stores, to be arranged with the organiser as I used to be volunteer treasurer at a local British legion branch where I used to live before I came up to marry Mr B & I really do miss that position of responsibility & the feeling of knowing I was giving something back to those who gave us our freedom through their own sacrifice.

Apart from that here is a funny story; When Lauren was a pup she began her recall training on a very, very long training lead, she was very inquisitive & a quick learner so it wasn’t long before she got to use the full length of the lead to be recalled. Well one early Sunday at this beautiful reserve we were going through the training, just as she went cantering off a couple of joggers came into view & were heading straight for the middle of the lead, I waved & called out to them to jog around behind me but they waved back & had ears plugged with music...too late; just as Lauren had gone the full length of the lead, it came up into the air & both joggers went flying over the top of it & landed in a heap on top of the lead & each other. Lauren came bounding back, thinking it was some sort of a game & with tail wagging with enthusiasm she climbed over them trying to kiss them with a passion. They weren’t hurt & the guy took it in jest but the woman was fuming which made it impossible for me to hold back the laughter & boy did I roar when they got up & walked away, several people who had witnessed it came over & said they hadn’t laughed so much in ages & thanks for the entertainment. Who said children are the only ones to get you into a pickle; Lol

I haven’t read many of the comments but I would like to say to Tracey that I sincerely hope that all goes well with your op; Melody & family I’m sorry that the news wasn’t what you had hoped, Yvonne sincerely hope you feel better soon & to anyone else who is under the weather I send you all Love & (((healing Hugs)))x x x x x

To Sue, to my special friends & to all lovely Wilsonettes & their 4-paws I send you all Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) & wishes for a good day. Take care my friends Beth B x x x x x

Morning Sue.
As soon as this card appears it shouts regal. Although the colours arnt apparent apart from the shading round the sentiment, I can imagine it looks beautiful. I think it's the Pavo die top and bottom of the card that gives it the regal looking. All in all, a stunning card to start the week.
Had a very busy day at market, and had to stamp in front of someone that asked for 'daughter in law' to be added to a card, I've never been so nervous lol my hand was shaking and I had the vision in my mind that it wasn't inked enough so would have to do it again, or it would be wonky lol in fact I started to wonder why I agreed to do it lol. I always take some centre die cuts and stamps for this purpose but oh my word Sue, to have people watching you do this turned me sick with nerves lol I can't imagine how you must have felt doing your very first demo in front of many many adoring eyes, I list what's sold in a book so I know what needs replacing and you can see the change in my writing where it's readable to spider leg scrawl after stamping that sentiment (note to self - don't offer again) lol.

Thinking so much of Tracey and Sam today as you both face your surgery. Good luck and much love to you both.

Lancashire Steph xx

Greetings Sue & WW,
This is an Ooh LaLa card for me :) I love auvergine, the Pavo die and of course the bling! A real winner for me (well, they are all winners to me, let's just say it's in the top 10% of my faves!)! Why am I always so inspired by things that are not of the type I need to currently be working on lol? I have the Pavo and would love to give this card a try (different center piece tho as I don't, as yet, have any of the Portuguese dies) but it's too feminine for what I want right now. Still haven't chosen design for my Uncle's bday card, now I'm at the point where I'll have to get it done, race it to the post office and cross my fingers it gets to him in time. I drive me crazy sometimes!
Maybe it's wrong of me to feel this way, but I get kind of happy when I hear someone else say they haven't started on their Christmas cards yet...so thanks to those who have said so :) ...it makes me feel slightly better!
Beth your story made me laugh! I'm glad no one was hurt- which makes it easier to laugh out loud about someone getting "clotheslined"! Of course the dog thought it was a fun new game, so had to share kisses of thanks with the unwitting participants! Funny stuff! I could visualize it as I was reading it. Thanks for the laugh :) I hope your authorization goes through so they can do whatever testing is necessary. Hope you are feeling better daily...you certainly accomplished a lot, it's just so unfortunate it took a toll on your body.
"P" in Wales, thank you for your condolences. I knew someone had recently gone through a similar loss, but I didn't remember who. Here's hoping that soon our memories will be of the happy times - without being tinged with feelings of loss. Hugs and thanks.
Laine, I'm glad Brodie is still enjoying his version of crafting lol...sorry it involves so much clean up on your end!
I didn't realize the UK (or parts of it anyway) also set the clocks back. We don't do ours until next weekend. I think we usually do it earlier, but know sometimes they wait until after Halloween so the little ones can get started with their Trick or Treating before it gets too dark. At least that's what I've been told was the reasoning. I'm always happy to "Fall back" (definately fan of an extra hours sleep), I'm not so happy when it comes time to "Spring forward". I'm one of those odd ducks who likes the shorter days that go with winter, I don't know why, but I do. But yes, our 4paw friends are slow to accept the change! Especially in matters of eating!
My thoughts are with all going through tough times...best of luck (& by that I mean wonderfully skilled hands of the surgeons) for those having surgery. Warm and healing thoughts coming your way...hugs to any who want/need one! I've got plenty to go around. I just love how hugs are mutually beneficial (unless it's a bear hug, by a real bear, that's probably an exception to that rule lol). Rebecca in Colorado

Oh big (yet gentle) hugs to you.!!(()) Sometimes the anxiety leading up to something like this is harder to deal with than the actual thing. So as I'm writing this, I hope you are happily oblivious (via the wonders of sedation) to the goings on. I know there's an arduous journey ahead, but I know you've got the attitude & fortitude to carry on. I realize you won't always feel strong and courageous, but the tears & doubts are actually part of the courage too. You've got this! Of course I'm sorry you r going thru it - but i know you will be triumphant! Hugs n kisses, Rebecca in Colorado

They say a little bit of nervousness is a good thing before presenting (or in your case being put on the spot). I bet you were the only one who noticed how nervous you felt on the inside. I hope the next one goes much more comfortably for you ;) Rebecca in Colorado

Hello to Sue and all her girls
I hope that no one will object to me leaving a comment here today.
I'm not a crafter. I am in a way a bystander. So I hope that my comment here today will not go amiss!
I have a lady in my life who has been very, very ill over the last 18 months or so. She has brain cancer.
She is probably one of the bravest people I know.
She is also a great fan of Sue's. So the actual reason for my comment today is to thank this wonderful lady who has given my friend so much hope and joy and pleasure over the last year or so.
I really think that if she had not had her dies and the inspiration and encouragement to carry on with her hobby that she would not be where she is today. She has told me so often over this time that she would have been lost without her daily fix of pretty cards and new dies and programs to watch and learn from.
So Sue, please accept my humble thanks from the very bottom of my heart for keeping my girl with us - I don't think we could have have got her this far without you.
I will always be grateful that you have been such an inspiration and joy to her!
Thank You for all that you do - you are truly an amazing and generous spirit !
With gratitude
SP

Good evening lovely sue and her crafty crew!

Well, if I did work/go to school and I suffered from the Monday blues this card would definitely bring a little sunshine back into my life and make the working week more bearable! I greatly admire your flair for design and your ability to turn a piece of card into a work of beauty. I'm just a tad peeved with myself that I have only acquired the Lisbon and Porto dies thus far....Festive dies have been my priority of late...and can't recreate your work, but the beauty of your dies and designs is that more often than not substitutions can be made and a similar look achieved:-) I'll try this composition out when I get back to normal Cardmaking after Christmas.
I've been on auto pilot all day long, Darceys body clock is obviously still in British summertime as she woke me at 4.30am to go out for a wander- I dragged myself up as any good mummy would and obliged before collapsing into bed again. I was then rudely awakened by her banging on the bedroom window at 6am wanting back in again!!??! If she was a teenager I'd ground her and take away her internet privileges, but she's not, she's a cat, and she's in charge!:-)
So, I've been like the walking dead all day , performing tasks in a sleep deprived daze. I managed to drag myself out to buy yet another harness and extendable lead for Brodie...he broke off the lead at midnight last night after wrapping himself round a bush....that is hopefully idiot proof. Success! This one actually fits him and he doesn't walk like John Wayne after coming off his horse! It looks like a glorified straight jacket though, and may take some getting used to but hopefully there will be no more daring breaks for freedom.
Also, note to self, find a better hiding place for your smoothie because either Brodie has found it or the smoothie has mutated and developed legs, walking downstairs on its own as a result!
Beth, how joyous to have you back! I have missed you, I was hoping that you had won the lottery and gone on a cruise so to find out that you have been suffering for your recent exertions fills me with sympathy and sadness in equal measure. always one to look on the bright side though, you still manage to put a smile on our faces with your story about Lauren- I was in stitches at the image of two jiggers flying through the air, how embarrassing! Hope to hear more of your tales soon my dearxxxx
Oh! Early birthday congratulations too, just in case you're too busy spending your birthday money tomorrow to pop boxxxx
Tracy, what a trooper you are, back on the blog hours after your operation, respect! I hope it went as planned and that it's one hurdle you've smashed to smithereens. Hope to hear about your progress xxx
Love to Val too as you go under the scalpelxx
I'm in danger of going over my word limit so I will do a cheeky ad on if sue doesn't mind.....

Hi again,

I do hope that I'm not contravening any blog rules by writing so much but I never was one to keep my mouth shut:-)
I was really touched by the amazing gentleman, SP, who left such a kind and heartwarming message to Sue. Firstly, I'd like to echo his thoughts, Sue most definitely provides an invaluable service that extends beyond her crafting talents by also giving pleasure, hope and most of all camerarderie to so many individuals, she is a total inspiration, a legend! And like SP, I can't thank her enough for her fabulous contribution to my life. Last year I spent about 6 months of it in hospital, I was given little hope of survival after months of serious health problems and the thing that kept me going was reading Sues blog, watching her demos and buying her dies from my hospital bed as I slowly recovered in the hope that I could begin crafting again...I even took my Grand Calibur and dies into the ward to motivate me!
It's no exaggeration to credit Sue with my and others recoveries and how touching to hear a loved one express their gratitude in such a way. I'm sure SP played an important part in his lady's recovery too though, and I am so encouraged to hear that she is on the mend and able to do something that she loves.
Dorothy, nice to have you back with us again, I hope that you continue to improvexxx
Rebecca, Uncles are notoriously difficult to create cards for, I usually do a classic Sue design because even the most difficult recipients appreciate their brilliance. Don't feel guilty about being a late starter for your Chrimbo cards, I've only made four myself so far so close family and friends will be taking priority and I may have to simplify my design for the others. I never learn either, I always seem to be rushing at the last minute to complete tasks:-)
Love and huge hugs to all of the fabulous ladies on Sues blog, hope they bring you health love and happinessxxxx

That's me home. Feeling tired it it's been a long day. I'm a little sore.
Found out today my type is triple negative which is the uncommon one they don't know much about :-(. So I'm a little upset about that.
Anyways I'm not going to dwell on it just get on with things an do as I'm told.
Will find out more 2 weeks time but they are fairly confident that it's all out xx

Gorgeous. I think after Christmas (I have bought 4 of your die sets for Christmas cards) I will invest in the above dies and give your design a go. Wonderful inspiration, you have turned a die hard stamper into a die cutter!x

Bravo! Lovely. I am in need of a black and white card, and I think I would like to try this style of yours for that black and white card. However, I will have to substitute a few of your dies for others of your's to make it. Thanks for the idea.

Hi Sue

What a stunning card, the dies, the colours, everything. I love it! Now thinking I need to complete my Portuguese collection, I did treat myself last week with snowflakes & some more configurations dies - can't wait to play! I hope you're having nice weather & Mom is well, Billy sends a special, slobbery kiss to each of you & I'm sending hugs.

Tracy, been thinking of you all day. Sorry I didn't get on yesterday to wish you well. I'm glad you've felt up to posting tonight & hope you're not in too much pain from the op. I'm pleased the doctors said they got all of it. Sending best wishes & as many hugs as you can take. I hope you'll be back at your die cutter very soon for a bit of crafty therapy. xxx

Melody, I'm sorry I missed what happened with Francis appointment the end of last week. I have caught up with some comments so just wanted to send my best wishes & hugs to you both, I have been thinking of you both too. I hope Molly is ok, we miss her so please tell her I say hello xxx

Beth, so glad you got your room done, I know it sounds odd but when I've completed a big task & get a flare up I almost feel like I won because I flared up after, not during. I'm so sorry that you've been ill on top of though, it sounds dreadful & I hope you're well enough for your trip to CEHQ. Happy birthday if I don't make it back tomorrow xxx

Lorraine, Brodies antics do make me laugh. Apart from getting into consistently stranger sleeping positions Billy has been pretty well behaved of late. Thinking you might be needing big dog size leads but now have a mental picture of a large cat in a studded rottweiler collar (!) Billy is the small end of 'large dog' but as he can take off quicker than most things & hit 30mph in about 6 strides whatever is holding him has to be strong as 30kg travelling at that speed will destroy most tethering! Hope you're ok xxx

Rebecca, my condolences, hope you're ok, hugs xxx I haven't started the dreaded C cards yet. I must start asap. Will do special cards with stamps/dies/both & use a kit or cd rom for the rest- or as many as I manage. I think it's about 40 all told. 8 weeks, 5 a week though it never goes as planned! I also buy plain gift bags & decorate them with stamps & stamp my own tags or at least thats the plan. Will die cut a load of bits then do the kit cards whenever I'm in front of the tv. Will get a die on every one regardless!

SP your lovely post brought a tear to my eye. I'm so glad that your lady friend finds so much comfort in her crafting especially with all she has been though. It's lovely you've taken the time to come & thank Sue for the part she plays. I hope your friends health stays as good as possible & she continues to love her crafting. Sending best wishes and hugs to you both xxx

Sorry, two part-er!

I have to say thank you too Sue, your cards make me smile every day, no matter how I'm feeling. You're so good to us, sharing what you do, answering requests/ questions, the work you put in to this blog is astounding- especially at launch times! I love reading everyones posts, what they're up to, what they're making. I'm like a lot of the others here, I can't get out, I don't have company during the day as a general rule apart from the cleaner & my PA once a week so coming here feels like having a chat to friends. I miss it when I can't get on. The support I've had & what we give to each other is unlike any I have seen from any community. So thank you Sue. My life changes on a regular basis but visiting each day & chatting to all you Wilsonettes is a glorious constant that I'm absolutely thankful for.

Had a nice week, went out for tea Wednesday for brothers fiancees birthday, again Sunday for my Dads birthday. Saw GP Friday & finally have an answer on the horrible migraines I have with new meds to try. Had a whole list for the poor bloke as had been so fatigued, going for minor ailments didn't seem a priority. Not quite so impressed with the oedema socks- beige- I did ask if they came in purple lol. 3 car trips in 5 days kind of did me hence me AWOL to rest before, during & after (slept for 13 hours last night). Sore but hey ho... have hairdresser visiting tomorrow so something to look forward to.

I'm going to finish there so I'm ready for when Sir wants his wander round the garden & his bedtime carrot (not kidding, my lurcher eats vegetables) & tooth cleaning treat. Sending hugs to every one of you. Special hugs & thoughts to those who are unwell or having ops or treatment as I know there are many of you, take care all of you and see you soon,

Hi Sue

Yet another really beautiful card.

I have to echo many other bloggers thoughts tonight though Sue and say that you should feel so proud that you touch so many peoples hearts with your wonderful creations and your selflessness. I must admit to a tear or too tonight. You have the ability to reach so many people on so many different levels, who all enjoy your blog and the feeling of belonging. Even through the darkest of times ( for many varied reasons) people still feel able to share their thoughts, fears, inspirations and hopes and that is truly amazing. I'm sure many, many others simply take comfort in belonging and not sharing tough times too. Obviously people love to share all the fun times as well.

SP your comment was lovely, I'm sure Sue will appreciate it. You are an incredible friend and I think you are both incredibly brave. I wish you both love.

Huge hugs to all those who are in any pain, suffering or need of comfort.
