Christmas Double Days

Hello bloggers!  I have a Christmas double day for you and a sort of sneak peek for my Hochanda shows which start tonight at 8pm!  For this first card, I stamped the Twas The Night Before Christmas background using a Black Archival ink pad on to milk card.  I inked the edges lightly with Antique Linen and just a hint of Tattered Rose to warm the colour.  I used coloured pencils to colour in the poinsettias and leaves, then went back over them adding some white pencil highlights.  I used the circle die from the Mini Christmas scene background to cut an aperture in the middle of the card.  I added mounting foam to the back of the background to raise it for dimension.  I attached it to another piece of milk card where I have inked just the centre with the same distress inks.  I cut the Joy die from the Christmas Angel 2015 set in both milk card and black card.  I used the black die cut as an offset behind the milk die cut to create a shadow.  I glued them into place in the aperture opening.  I added glue to the centres of the poinsettias and added some clear micro beads for texture.  Finally, I finished the card with a milk card mat which I paper pierced, a thin black mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 5" x  7" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two features the Joy To The World Mini Background.  I started by creating a background to go behind my die.  I used the Wavy mask and taped it to a piece of rich red card.  I used Berry Red Sparkle Texture paste and pulled it through the mask. I did this twice, one to use for my background and a second one to cut my flowers from.   I let them both dry completely.  Next, I then cut the Joy To The World background out of both white and black card, leaving a wide border around the edge on the white one. I glued them together offsetting the black one to create a shadow for the white die cut.   I added mounting foam to the back edge and seated it over the textured red background.  I used the Classic Poinsettia die and cut six flowers out of the second sparkle texture paste piece.  I shaped the flowers and offset two per flower and added a black Dazzler to the centres.  I seated two flower in the lower corner on a piece of black tulle and added the last one in the opposite corner.  The card was then completed with a white pierced mat, a thin red and black mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/4" in size.

I hope you can tune in to see tonight's shows, but don't forget that I have more shows throughout the day on Saturday as well!  The show times are listed on the right hand side of my blog.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue first thing I must do is thank you for my prize which arrived yesterday. I shall be "playing" with it later today. I would like to send a big hug to Theresa because one week ago today I had the same operation! Today's cards are brilliant Sue but I think the second one is my favourite. Red & white gives such a crisp clean look to a card. I shall be glued to the 'telly' watching all your shows this weekend. I hope doing the shows gives you as much pleasure as it gives us watching them. Have a great day all you crafty ladies out there. Xx

Morning dear Sue.
Two amazing cards today thank you. I just love how you inspire us with your variation of techniques to suit all types of crafters, there are many that stamp and those that don't and you cater for us all which at any time of year comes in so useful. I'd never had got 'messy' until you showed us the grouting and pastes and I just love the look now. One and a half cards were managed yesterday, then I flopped but have to get to 'our' craft shop today it's a must-have.
Yesterday I meant to enquire after Robbie, so Pam, hope that incredible young man is doing good and improving each day

Tracey Stitt - you were on my mind such a lot yesterday and will remain so.

I'm soooo looking forward to your shows over the next couple of days Sue, and like everyone here, hope they make Creative Expressions a regular feature on the channel so we can see more of you and the rest of the brilliant team (hope that's not putting too much pressure on you all) !!!
I will end my ramblings by sending love and friendly hugs to you and my special friends, hope you all have a lovely day.

Where are the weeks going!

Both of your gifts today are just beautiful and I really cannot choose a favourite. Your first gift has my all time favourite Christmas poem as it's background and your second has one of my favourite carols as its centre piece.
Your colour palette is traditional and as I have all the ingredients to attempt these sumptuous gifts I shall be having an attempt at producing both.

Good luck for tonight and all day tomorrow. My recorder will be set so I can watch you at my leisure.
My Art Deco die arrived yesterday Sue so a big thank you. It really looks so impressive in real life. I'm hoping to have a play with it after housework today.
Once again thank you for all your inspiration, patience and kindness which you give willingly to all crafters.

To all in pain and suffering today I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue,

Just love poinsettias so both cards are right up my street!...the second Joy to the World would also be great for batch making, just need to allow some time for the mask/texture paste backgrounds to dry and then you can make hundreds of them all at once!...lol

Looking forward to your shows tonight and tomorrow...

CHERYL - big background stamps can be a bit scary...try leaving the stamp upside down and having inked it carefully press your card onto the image, holding it still while you do so - alternatively if you want to stamp it the usual way, dwon onto your cardstock, remember to press more heavily in the middle - having said that if the centre doesn't come out as well as the edges if you're following Sue's design and cutting an aperture then it really doesn't matter if the text is slightly fainter in the centre does it?...it might actually look as if you meant to do that!...lol...hth

Hi Sue & Lovely Wilsonettes – Wow; 2 gorgeous contrasting cards, love the ‘Night Before Christmas’ background stamp; guess what’s going into my hat; Lol. I take it the Poinsettias are stamps too if so they are amazing as they look so dimensional & very pretty (guess I’ll have to glue myself to the show tonight to see how this is done). The 2nd card is impressive & very eye-catching & the texture paste adds that special something to the background which then gives exquisite dimension to the ‘Joy to the World’ die. The texture paste Poinsettias do it for me too. I don’t have the black Tulle but I did buy a child’s leotard with black netting skirt in the Pound shop some time back, I cut away the leotard keeping the black net & it looks really effective; Lol. You have such a busy tiring weekend of shows ahead of you so just wanted to wish you pleasant journeys, all the best & hope you have a lovely time. Thank you for sharing your valuable time & your amazing talents Sue, I can’t sing my gratitude & your praises from the rooftop often enough (best not as the poor neighbours will think a cats screeching on the roof again; Lol x x x

LYNDA & MARIA; thank you dear friends for asking after me, I’m shattered but in an achieved kind of way; when I had all that black mould in the study/craft room, it hasn’t come back but I could still smell it on the wall & carpet so instead of leaving as a patch up paint job I slowly took everything out Wed & Thurs after work; spare room, conservatory everywhere is chocca with crafty goods, tables & shelves etc & today washed walls & frog taped (I could (((hug))) whoever invented yellow frog tape it’s so perfect). Mr B is taking me & girls out for day Sat so computer will come down when back so I can make slow progress on the painting etc & then it will go back when new carpet is laid (hope Carpetright has some good deals). colours are lower wall Dulux Soft Stone & upper walls Dulux Honey Beam so sun here so have to brighten it up, colour carpet well we'll see when we choose on Sunday x x x

I will miss you all my friends so tons of love ‘n’(((HUGS))) to last you all coming your way; don’t worry LAINE spare room will be ready for April Lol; still waiting for dates. I hope Kettering in Northants is okay for you get to us as Mr B will pick you up from wherever you land; Lol x x x

I send love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to all my dear friends, to feathered & 4-paw babies & to anyone who needs a hug whilst I am AWOL, especially Laine, Yvonne G, Tres, Diane, Cheryl, Stephanie, Theresa W, Susi, Lynda B, Annie & Bambi (4 paws), Michele. Cheryl put it so lovely; please take a (((HUG))) from the basket as you leave x x x

TRACEY; I’m thinking of you & wishing you all the best sweetie, sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend & this maybe no consolation to how you are feeling at the moment but it may help a little, I had calcified lumps, which I could feel in my leftie a few years ago & they repeat mammogram each year but so far they are okay, they say that calcified lumps don’t get cancerous so I’m quite relieved. Apart from that I wish you all the best for your results Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) x x x

Take care Sue & to all my friends & lovely Wilsonettes, hope you enjoy your weekend & all the best to you all for the Wed Card & comments winners. Love ‘n’ (((HUGS))) to one & all & especially to our Lovely Molly & her family x x x Beth B x x x

Two lovely cards Sue, but as I prefer a 'clean' card the Joy To The World card is the one for me. :) I love the effect of the sparkle paste on the poinsettias on that card too.

Beautiful cards. I've been away abroad for the last week, and although I've been looking at your blog every day Sue, I wasn't able to comment as I couldn't remember my Google password! It wouldn't let me comment without it - very frustrating. Anyway all the cards were lovely as usual. Now that I'm back home it's "business as usual".

Hi Sue,
Beautiful cards, can't decide on a definite favourite but I think I prefer the second one. It's the poinsettias that do it for me every time, with the sparkle.
All set up for your shows, so looking forward to them.

I really like the sparkle paste on the background below the "Joy to the World" die cut layer. And then the same sparkle to the poinsettias gives a wonderfully added bit of bling. I have my timer set to watch you today on the Hochanda show now that I have the time difference figured out. I'm also hoping to watch tomorrow. See you there!

Hi Sue, two gorgeous cards today and I feel lucky as I have the stamp used on number one. With a change of sentiment I shall be trying this one over the week-end. Love them both, though.

Both lovely cards, Sue, but think second one is singing a little louder - always enjoy double festive days. Hope to see you tonight and at least some of tomorrow's shows - another busy couple of days after which let's hope some R&R for you ??
Melody - so sorry you had such a dreadful day and fingers crossed for Milly. Molly, you are missed.
Maureen K - day of the tent top was July '14 so not so long ago. It's disappeared, to be replaced mostly by good old black, forever a friend!
Yvonne G - hope you're back on form soon - that's what comes with mixing with too many Wilsonettes!
Tracy - that's the idea, keep busy and positive, and a little wobble is allowed.
Rebecca - any new of the lost dog?

'P' in Wales

P.S. OH suggested forging a trail to my craft desk. Think it's time to bite the bullet.

Really enjoy your double days and I have to admit the 1st post is my favourite by far, though I do love the stamp on the 2nd one. Think I saw the 1st one demo'd and liked its classic simplicity with the sentiment doing all the work.

Thanks for confirming about the noble rectangles and now know why I missed it as I ordered the other two in the set (that aren't pierced)on launch as at the time was spoilt for choice and totally forgot the pierced ones!! The rectangles are now on their way! The square to follow soon! Have the most recent ones though and they are fab-u-lous!

Hi Sue
Both stunning, as always. Two for the price of one - you do spoil us. These are the kinds of cards that one would pay an absolute fortune for in a terribly posh and high class boutique - well I'm presuming this is the case as I probably would not be allowed into such an establishment! I think the first card has a lovely vintage feel to it and the second, a more modern feel. Both are equally wonderful.
Looking forward to seeing you on Hochanda - it will keep me out of mischief. Starting to feel a bit better day by day so in order to avoid the temptation to do things and play catch up I need a distraction - what could be better than the master at work x
Tracy - so sorry that the news was not as you had hoped. You sound like you have a really good and positive attitude which is fabulous. I cannot speak from a personal point of view but 2 of my friends have been through breast cancer and their positive attitude was admirable. Easier said than done I know but hang in there. Hugs and love being sent to you x
Maria - I'm here - I'm nearly back to normal - although I use the word normal with some hesitation x
Melody - you have been in my thoughts over the last few days despite my not 'being around'. Sending you and hubby a warm hug. Hope Milly is a good girl and takes her meds. As if you have not got enough to deal with. Please give Molly a big cuddle. She is such a valued member of our Wilsonette family and we miss her x
Angela - what's it like being a globetrotter - sounds fabulous - I am 'well jeal'. Enjoy the remainder of your 'break' x
Beth B - are you sure it is wise offering a place to stay to a reprobate such as Lorraine? What on earth are you letting yourself in for? Seriously - I do hope that your wonderful offer will be accepted. I had been trying to work out a way of making it possible for Lorraine to be able to fulfil her dream of making Ally Pally as she lives so far away. Lets hope your plans of hospitality are a definite and you will be able to join in the fun in April x
Theresa - nice to be missed. Hopefully I'm back for good - fingers crossed x
'P' in Whales - you are absolutely right. As I am such a quiet and shy individual it was really hard work meeting up with all those raucous Wilsonettes. Obviously as I am such an introvert I did feel like the odd one out - lol x
Deb C - it appears that you are still playing truant - hope you are ok x
Lorraine - where are you? I feel like Cagney without my Lacey. Hope you are ok. I have not managed to go back further than yesterday on all the comments so I'm not sure what you have been up to. Hoping to have friendly and sensible 'chats' with you soon x
Off to prepare for the highlight of the evening. Popcorn - check. Family pack of Cadbury twirls - check. Kettle chips - check. Bottle of Schloer - check. And worryingly a Vienetta in the freezer - and we all know what happened the last time I had one of those in the freezer. It didn't last long and I felt sick!
I AM READY FOR YOU SUE!!!!!
Crafty hugs
Yvonne

Hi Sue
Sorry haven't been commenting for the last few days, but work has been taking over we have just been so hectic, thank goodness for the weekend! My prize die arrived yesterday thank you so much. I think the first die just gets it from me.
Looking forward to watching you over the weekend!
It's also " strictly time" I love this and also the tour which I go too almost every year. I used to dance ballroom and Latin and did all the competitions and throughly enjoyed every second of it. That was a million years ago lol. Unfortunately I married someone with two left feet so the dancing came to a stop, so I just enjoy the show!!
Tracey just love your positive attitude, sending you a big hug!!!

Hi Sue

Loved the die grouting yesterday and a super 2fer today. I do slightly prefer the first. I like that stamp a lot and love the idea of putting an apeture in it.

Saw your Hochanda show... 2hrs late- had a bit of a wobble and lost an hour. Sky box set for tomo and good thing too as what I don't watch live I'll watch Saturday evening. Mr W is going out to watch the rugby so if I'm awake I will need the distraction!

Tracy Stitt, thinking of you. Must be hard as hell to be suddenly told you're ill, sending you all the hugs in the world xxxx

Melody, Billy sending paw hugs to Milly and we both hope the medicine will do its stuff. Molly, can't wait to see you post again. Glad to see Dad has sorted things out for you. Hope you're looking forward to crafting along with Sue this weekend.

I've missed you all so much but I've been ridiculously tired- can'tbelieve it's Friday night already! Hospital appointment was a strange experience. Got told that what had been suggested for me would not work well due to my dodgy dna & be highly risky- especially if done on my neck, & do more damage in the long run (wow, cheerful!), So we asked if there was an alternative, which there is- it's one you have done when it's needed like a nerve block but more generalised and no needles near my spine, an intravenous infusion, plus we got talking about how I've had to constantly adapt over the years, changing hobbies, jobs, giving up things I'm good at because my body can't cope etc & how that impacts on me especially being hyperactive, especially since the fatigue got much worse , he said kinda at the same time I asked that I could see a psychologist who helps people with stuff like this. I'm not depressed but have noted that I have started to feel down at getting nothing done all the time so I think of this as a pre emptive strike! They always re iterate that treatment won't cure the fatigue, the "guts and gore" problems or the generalised pain but it may mean I can travel without being in agony...plus I'm on the urgent list for both so I might get my wish of Ally Pally, not counting on it but it's there, like a dangly carrot telling me to stay positive and believe something or someone will help. They say the best things come to those who wait lol! London is the nearest place to here with a decent show anyway. Going to start scouting for travel lodges just in case!

Sending hugs to everyone with loads extra in case they're needed so take what you need :-) hope you all get to watch Sue at some point (Sue, guessing they'll be a run on that Adirondak in colour you used on your first show!!!) Have a stunningly good weekend and some happy crafting time,

T x
