Christmas Double Days

Hello my crafty friends!  Two completely different styled cards.  The first one is very clean and simple, even relatively flat (can you believe it!).  I started by creating the background using a piece of Sky Blue card, I flicked a white paint pen at it to give it the look of stars.  I inked around the edges with Stormy Sky distress ink to shade it a bit.  Next I created the lower half by tearing kraft card in the appearance of two large sand dunes and I inked the edges lightly with some Tea Dye distress ink.  I glued them on to the bottom of the blue card.  I cut the Three Wise Men Mini Striplet out of black card and glued it to my background so that the sand dune on the background was in the same place as the sand dunes in the scene.  I cut the Peace on Earth die out of black card and nipped around it so I just had the word "Peace" for a simpler sentiment.  I cut a single star from the Christmas Angel 2015 die set and glued in the upper right corner.   The card was then completed with a white pierced mat, thin kraft and thin Sky blue mats and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

Card number two is a more traditional sort of card with it's bright red and white.  I used the Lyra die to cut an angle on a piece of coconut white card.  I stamped my sentiment (Justrite stamps) and embossed it in white on a piece of ruby red card.  I taped the white piece on top of it so the sentiment showed from underneath the Lyra edge.  I stamped the Pinstripe Poinsettia and embossed it in white on Ruby Card.  I used the Classic Poinsettia die to cut them out and then offset them to create the three flowers.  I seated them on some white tulle and added several pieces of Holly Spray around them.  The card was then completed with a white pierced mat layer, a thin Ruby red card layer and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4"  x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue and all
Love both of these cards and like others number 2 is my favourite. I have been playing with the poinsettias over the last couple of days both stamping the filigree and embossing (used gold on white) and using the filigree die (white on red poinsettias). They are such beautiful dies to use. The holly has become a firm favourite too, even after patiently gluing a little pearl on each of the berries! I must now try white embossing on red with the stripe stamp after today's beautiful cards.
Have a good Friday and for those on holiday enjoy your break and I hope you find some crafting time. We have the coldest days in 30 years happening in NSW and lots of nasty cold wind too, still it is the middle of winter.......

Lol, it's fabulous, the Lyra die looks beautiful and blends in with the Christmas theme that's what I love about your dies they work all through the year (clever bit of designing). I have to say that No.1 is just for me. I bought this at the beginning of your launch and have already started using it on my Seasonal Gifts for this year.
Unlike you I cut the die in white and have back it with star covered silver.

Well Muriel you may be having the coldest day down there in NSW but here in Burgundy we are breaking all records at the other end of the scale. We are really in need of rain PLEASE.

Friday is Market day and so hoping we can get round before it's too hot to move.

Hi Sue,
Two really inspirational cards today! They are so different it's hard to choose a favourite - if that makes any sense at all. I like the first one as it would be easy to post and therefore a favourite for that. I love poinsettias but this would be a card which would be for special friends and need to be hand delivered, I think!
I made a Wise Men Striplet one last night. I used the deep blue card from CE , iced snow and sunk it into the aperture of the card! Thanks for teaching me how! I 'm really pleased with it. Will either have Joy, from the angel Die or Peace on Earth - haven't decided yet but it will post beautifully. Made some soft gold and soft pink poinsettias too.
Well, must go and get on.
Thank you so much.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Sue and fabby Wilsonettes!

What a surprise, I had totally forgotten about Double Delight Fridays so it has been a real treat to wake up to two stunning seasonal beauties. It's really hard to pick a favourite from two very different styles, but I think that the colour scheme of no. 2 appeals to me more than no. 1. In saying that I would happily cater to the more religiously orientated recipient with the first little gem. I love your ingenious use of the Kraft card as sand dunes, it's very realistic, and I like how you have positioned the striplet in such a way as to match it to the skyline perfectly. What a nice touch with the star and sparkly sky-I must admit to having long standing issues with paper ripping techniques but you have used it so effectively.
What's not to love about the second offering, everything from the stamped poinsettia to the gorgeous Lyra die and the rich red background screams Christmas to me, it is fabulous and shows us that your other dies can easily be incorporated into seasonal cards also.
I have a hectic day today at the beauticians(who's on a hiding to nothing!), and nail technicians so no time for crafting unfortunately, never mind the weekend is almost upon us and the housework can wait......maybe!
Janet, I know you must be begging for rain but take it from me in a permanently sodden Stirling, a little bit of sunshine would be a welcome reprieve! I'd swap you anytime my dear!
Beth, hope everything is okay with you and Lauren, it's been a while since we have heard from you. Take care, we are thinking of you:-)xxxx
Have a lovely weekend everyone no matter what you are doing or how the weather is with youxxxx

Love and crafty hugs,

I thought I'd come to the wrong blog when I saw the 'flat' card, lol. It is beautiful though just the same and then, the layered poinsettias of the second card and yes, this is Sue I thought. Both gorgeous.

Hi Sue
Wow wow wow. Two stunning cards today. My favourite is the seconfpd one as well. Both are quite simple to make so would be good fir batch cards.

Hello Sue and all.

Card One. The sand dune Idea is so clever and I like how you have grounded the Striplet die. I think this would make a great batch make card. Card Two. I love the effect you have with the angled Lyra die placed over a dark colour. The Poinsettia's are beautiful and I love the Holly Spray die. Thanks for sharing.

Best wishes.

Hi Sue

I think the first card is genius, using the kraft card to make sand dunes. Brilliant! The 2nd card I love as I love poinsettias. I love the stamp too.

Thinking of you Maureen, sending hugs xxx

Murial and Jan NSW, stay warm= stay home crafting!

Still got all of what's left of my teeth, hurray! Dentist had to examine me in my wheelchair though as I couldn't get out. Feel fine today, chipper even- just can't move without yelping! Don't want to waste this unusual energy burst so it's on the laptop as I'm sooo behind on paperwork etc and some 'lap craft' after if I'm not wore out. Maybe a little Christmas die shopping after...!

Sending hugs, smiles & crafty mojo to everyone. Extra hugs for any reason if they're needed,

Hi Sue, A;most forgot that it was 2 for Friday, day! How can anyone chose which card they prefer when both are utterly gorgeous. The striplet card looks great, especially the way you have combined the craft card with it and and it makes a pleasant change in reminding us what Christmas is all about. However, I love the poinsettia die and will definitly be making a few of these 'specials' for several people. Thank you Sue. Hugs xx Pauline A

I love both of the cards. Number two has the traditional colorsand flowers but number one is my favorite of the two. It is very clean, easy to create in multiples, and deals with the true meaning of Christmas. Yes number 1 gets my vote

Hello Auw, and all the ladies,
Card No. 1 is perfect for the "Story of Christmas" and card No. 2 is ideal for people who prefer a bright and cherry Christmas card. I love them both, and can't choose.
May I take this opportunity to thank all those for their commiserations, love and best wishes on the death of my Brother. I very much appreciate them and they have been an enormous help. His funeral was a celebration of his life, and was amazing.

Hello Sue and lovely Wilsonettes
two amazing cards today, I love them both. The pinstriped poinsetties have the real wow factor, very unusual and such a pretty card. I think if I had to choose it would be the first one, I love the sand dunes and starry sky, I have a thing about the 3 wise men and am naturally drawn to Christmas cards that convey the true meaning of Christmas.
Thank you so much ladies for all your suggestions and advice on the packaging front. Mrs B thanks for the tip of practicing with copy paper, Steph the enveloboxes looks amazing, I think I might be a jiffy bag girl though lol, but will have a look at some youtube, we'll see, not ruling out the boxes just yet. Patricia & Karen M, I love your idea of tissue and ribbon inside a jiffy bag. Lorraine you're so funny, you really make me smile ;-).
Have a lovely evening everyone.
Hugs and blessings - Deb C xx
Yvonne G, congratulations to your friend and her family, Isla Rose is such a beautiful name.

Hi Sue, I am loving Christmas double days. Both cards are stunning - one for its simplicity and the other for its opulence. I really like them both and although no.1 is of my preferred type I think with a change of sentiment no. 2 would be on my making list as I do love poinsettias. Because they are both so special I am finding it very hard to have a favourite but no.1 is probably just edging ahead.

Hellooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Sue, wow, a gorgeous two-fer! I love the first one with the Three Wise Men. Love the sand dunes that you have done and how they meet just under the camels feet and your starry night flicks of white paint. Something so simple that looks so beautiful. If I had this die I would do the majority of my Christmas cards. Also, I love the poinsettias.....They just look so gorgeous in red with the white. Two amazing cards Sue. I love the holly spray too.....I've got that one (whoop whoop!). I know I shall be doing my mum and dad a white on white card as she loves those and with a pop of glitter, my faithful gorgeousness of Iced Snow! "Thank you" so much Sue for sharing all your ideas with us....Heaven knows we need them especially as Christmas is creeping up on us...oo er!
