Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi there my crafty friends!  It seems like forever since my last card giveaway so I hope you like this one.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and used the Santorini decorative insert without the cutting edge in the top of the card.  I cut a strip of card about an inch and a half wide and used the Scored Lines embossing folder on it for the bottom part of my channel card.  I added mounting foam to both pieces for dimension and added them to a piece of bluish purplish card (from my stash), leaving about an inch gap for my channel.  Next I cut three of the Splendid Swirls in white and attached them across my channel opening, slightly overlapping them.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the inside die from the Kefalonia set. I used Shaded Lilac ink on it before removing it from the die.  I seated it on to a mat that was first cut out with shape from the Kefalonia and then I used the next die down in the set to emboss the inner detail to it.  I added them both in the centre with mounting foam.  I completed the card with a couple of pearl corners as embellishments, then added my usual matting and layering with piercing of course!.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 3/4" in size.  If you would like to be entered in the drawing to win this card, just leave me a comment.  The winner will be posted on Saturday's blog post.  Don't forget too that Friday will be the die winners announced, so lots of reasons to pop by the blog!  All for5 now, Sue x

Hi Sue

What a tonic on a very windy day where the weather can't make up its mind, wet, dry, wet, dry... got a grumpy dog as he can here the roadworks (now around 4 weeks behind), the wind blowing things over and because it's wet and windy he won't go outside, preferring to sit on his perch and yelp loudly at the heavy machinery as it moves in and out of his sight line! So a pretty card to pour over every detail of is a welcome distraction!

I don't have these particular dies but sure I could try similar with your other dies.

Also I have to say it's lovely to see 201 comments already by 1:50pm. It's so nice to see names new and old and I hope people stay on as you give so much time to us with a new card or a video to look forward to each day.

Well I must off, pretty tired after a shower and washing my hair. Going to try a strong coffee as there are things I really should get on with. Perhaps a coffee and an hours lay down is the best compromise... not a bad plan as Billy may be tempted to cuddle up, go to sleep and give my eardrums a rest!

Hugs to Sue and all the Wilsonettes, I have extra hugs if you need them. Hope you all have a lovely day.

T x

Beautiful card, and it would be a thrill to win. I am really loving your new collections.
I have a question of the Wilsonettes. Sue's embossing is always so rich and deep, and I have some of her embossing folders, what type and weight of paper is she using? The cardstock here in USA must be different from what you use. I have been suggested by people here to use watercolor paper, but it is really really heavy. Mostly our cardstock is 12 x 12, and used for scrapbooking, and is not a very heavy weight. It also cracks badly. I can order smooth cardstock for stamping and alcohol markers, but it is not heavy either. It seems to be somewhere betweem watercolor paper and scrapbook paper. She always refers to the color, like "coconut white card", is it a certain brand?

Txcowgirl - Sue always uses Foundation cardstock which is supplied by Creative Expressions. It is between 230gsm and 240gsm,
I am sorry but I don't know the American equivalent in pounds. If you can find the conversion rate I am sure you will be able to source something suitable. Hope this helps.
