Dying to Match

Hi bloggers!  I get a bit inky in today's instalment of the Crafting My Style video series (you don't see that often! LOL)  However, sometimes, you just don't have the colour ribbon that you want so you have to dye it match!

Buy from Joanna Sheen

The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue  x

morning Sue
As you say we do not see you with sticky fingers very often but thank you for showing how to create different coloured ribbons. I often struggle to find colours I want and now I know that I can have colours easy.

Today's gift is beautiful - elegant and looks so so special. Again white on white with just that little colour ribbon and stick pins and you have a gorgeous piece of art. This is definitely 'a keeper'.

Well I don't know what happened yesterday to my comment but I did my usual - commenting on Sue's beautiful gift and then mentioning one or two things but when I went to look at everyone's comments last night just before bed mine had disappeared. So heaven only knows what I did.

So Ferry and Hotel booked so that's out of the way. Just have to finish craft sorting and making a list f what I need to bring with me next time.
Once again I've been let down by C&C. I placed an order on 1st Jan. for two items to be delivered here at Marigny thinking that they would be delivered well before I left for the UK. One item was for a little boy's bday card which I needed. I've been waiting and waiting but has it arrived - has it not!!!!
I contacted them yesterday only to be told they don't know what's happened but they haven't any more stock so will refund me. I really wanted the two items rather than a refund. But this happened to me last summer while I was here and really I suppose I aught to know better. I dispire
sometimes at that company and am really considering not renewing my membership in May when it's due.

To all in pain I hope your day gets bette. To all please take care and stay safe. Hope your weather is not too bad this morning. See you tomorrow.

Stunning and very ornate card, perfect for those special people in your lives.
Janet, understand your frustration at C&C. That is the reason I do not order the member's gifts. They take my postage and then don't deliver the goods, claiming not to know where it is but they have posted it. Proof of posting is NOT proof of delivery according to the Post Office. still waiting for refund of my postage from last November!
Very rainy here in Somerset, but ignoring it as I'm off now to travel to Exeter for the Craft show.

Hello Sue,

Very pretty card today - love how the New Yorkers all work together so well and thanks for the reminder on dyeing the seam binding ribbon, I know you've shown us this technique before using just a single colour so it was good to see how two colours can blend so organically for a tie-dyed effect...and getting messy brings out the inner child doesn't it!...lol

Good morning Sue,
What a gorgeous card today. Love how the ribbon and stick pins enhance a white on white card and really make it stunning. Thoroughly enjoyed watching your video which not only answered my question from yesterday, but also showcased the very die I have just bought, namely Times Square. Loved watching you dyeing your seam binding ribbon, it will be messy fingers for me today then!!

Janet, can't believe your parcel never arrived, don't blame for being cross. Mine arrived a couple of days ago and I can't fault the service I had from JS, Richard (her husband) responded immediately to my email and reassured me that should it fail to arrive, they would send out a replacement. Brilliant company.

Wheely Bad. Happy Birthday, hope you have a lovely day.

Hi Sue from a horribly cold snowy Bolton. Sick of it now, only leave the house to have bloods taken - roll on the warmer days !
Oh Janet you must be so disapointed and angry, those are the reason's I would never order from C&C or become a member ! I spoke to Richard last week (JS hubby) re a faulty product and they are wonderful, not only did I receive a replacement the same week they sent a check to my husband for the postage he paid to return the product, my husby wouldn't shop elsewhere for my craft gifts - especially when they do such wonderful offer's at launch time (thanks Sue for allowing them to offer discount on new dies)
Talking of which, your new dies showcase beautifully today on such a delicate card. I love moving them around to back other dies, that's the beauty of square dies - they dont have to be used that way. I must start and collect your seam binding when my supply of ribbon is getting low, its just perfect that I can match up with my Foundations card that Im starting to build up.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY wheeleybad, hope your gifts are crafty gifts.
Barbie, so sorry your interview is cancelled, it was all going through so quickly for you, what a pitty.
Im sending our poorly friends my usual gentle cuddles to help make your day a little more bareable knowing we care, the same goes to our missing friends - you dont realise just how much we all miss you here.
Sending love to all. Stay warm and safe.
Love you.

Hi Sue. WOW, WOW, WOW !! This card is absolutely gorgeous !! I love it !! Sue I think this is my new favourite card of yours !! I really need the Union Square die set. I think that one and the Dainty Frames are next on my list. I don't know how, but I still have some Joanna Sheen vouchers left from Christmas !! (Gifts from family.) It is most unusual as normally I would have spent them by now. The only problem is your shows on c+c and whatever your surprise is ? I don't supose you could give us a hint ? Sorry I just can't stand the suspense !!
I loved today's video. Very informative. Dying the ribbon looks great fun. I really want to try this technique now. As always you made some really beautiful flowers and fab stick pins.Thank you so much for sharing today's amazing card and video.
Sending you lots of love and hugs Sue love from Tres x x x

I have a Grand Calibur problem at the moment. My Dark Pink Grand Calibur broke for the third time a couple of weeks ago. Reluctantly I invested in a new Grand Calibur which I bought from c+c in the New Teal colour (my favourite colour which was great.) I can put small die through the machine with no problem but I could not put through either of Sue's largest dies from the Madison set or the Times Square set. I checked I had the correct sandwich plates and I did. It was incredibly difficult to turn the handle of the machine. I did a few turns and took the sandwich back out. Both the plates have lines across them from the rollers and one plate now has a dent right through it. I have only had the machine for one week !! I think there is something wrong with it and I will be contacting c+c today. Has anyone else experienced such problems with the New Teal grand caliber ? x x x

Lots of love and hugs to all the Wonderful Wilsonettes today love from Tres x x x

Hi Sue,
Gorgeous love the teal. Whenever, I try to colour the ribbon, I end up absolutely covered. Once, I coloured some in purple ink- Dusty Concord distress ink - and it was fabulous. Waited 3 days before I used it and then put it on the card. I was well impressed. However, when the recipient opened the card, all of the colour from the ribbon had spread! I was so upset!! Anyway, I will have to have another go. I think we are all going to be bankrupt again shortly!
Wheely, happy birthday, hope you have a lovely day.

Hi Sue, a lovely card and great video, I love the way you make your dies mix and match and pretend to be something they are not.

I have been colouring organza for years but when you brought us your seam binding I fell in love and now colour it with either my ProMarkers if I want a solid colour or with Tim's distress pads for a more um.. distressed look. I have to confess to wearing latex gloves when doing the latter as I don't think rainbow hands is the best look for me :-)

Happy Birthday to both Wheely Bad and Helen Bell. I hope you have both had a lovely day and received lots of crafty goodies.

The snow did lie last night and I had to sweep it off the car and scrape the windows before going out but there was a good thaw by lunch-time so coming home was not so bad and I am just hoping it doesn't freeze overnight.

Hi Sue

Very pretty card, I do love it when you change the look of your dies by doubling them up. I've not coloured ribbon with ink pads or droppers before, only with promarkers but it gives a softer colour so will give it a try. I also got some emails today about some new arrivals. No further comments as I don't like to spoil the surprise for others.

Happy birthday Helen Bell, nice to know someone else has a birthday today too! Hope you get lots of crafty goodies!

I had a quietly fun day. I tend to catch up with a few friends and family over the course of a week or so. Today I made a horrendously chocolaty cake with my PA. it was really nice, a bit crcrispsy on the sides as I left it in about 10 minutes too long! It'd been quiet all afternoon but then had a visitor and a phonecall both just before I took the cake out. It still tastes nice (triple chocolate. Birthday cake doesn't have calories! ) and Mr W will eat pretty much anything. I normally only bake 'skinny' cake so it was a fun thing to do. Have been given "craft tokens" and will be having a crafty day tomorrow.

Bless you lovely Wilsonettes to send me so many birthday messages. It has really made my day even better. With thanks to "P", Diane, Steph, Saba, Tres, Thresa "TOB" and Alison "Alimecca" hugs to all of you

I must go now, hugs to everyone, extra if required. Stay safe

Another Wow Wow Wow card, particularly as it has that little touch of green. Always love the white on white as it is so classy. Keep'em coming. Also just seen a sneak peek of the new dies and had to order some - love the new finishing touches and can't wait to see the demo of the weave dies. Also think my favourite is the border of the Greek set. My bank manager is laughing at me!!!!

Sorry Steph if I upset you , I had an Email from Sunrise Crafts and was so excited I had to look and share, I'm sure Sue must be aware of this situation, but saddened it you are unhappy about it .

Hello there Sheezym. Have you tried wax paper ? Not the greesproof for baking, you can buy wax paper on a roll for under 3.00 if you click 'Buy Here' just below Sue's card at the top of the page it will take you to Joanna Sheen's website where you can purchase some wax paper. You place the wax paper inbetween your die and cardstock. It comes out a dream. Hope this has helped.
Lancashire Steph xx p.s. Welcome. I dont think Ive seen you post before today. I you have I apologise

Good evening Sue & friends,
Stunning card once again, The CE seam binding takes so well to many types of colouring, it's such good quality!
Thank you Sue for the amazing inspiration once again.
Happy Birthday Wheely Bad! Your cake sounded yum!
Steph, I totally agree with you and your frustration over Sunrise releasing Sue's dies before Sue foes, it spoils Sue's big relveal, enjoying showing us each set day by day, and reaping the reward of our surprise and excitement!
Last time I thought was maybe mistake but this time too is a bit naughty I think.
Sue, we are all very excited to see what you are bringing at what you have done with them!
Hugs

Hadn't thought about "dying my ribbon" to match my stickpins. I don't have that many colored beads, so this will help. I don't always have the correct color of ribbon, so now I can dye the ribbon to match my paper. I had only done the direct to ribbon and was never satisfied with the results. That's for a new way to dye my ribbons.
