Hi blog friends, I had no idea where I was going when I started this card, but I do like where it ended up. The only thing I was sure of was that I wanted to use the snowflake dies to create a flower. Truth be told, these were my least favourite shapes as snowflakes, but they are brilliant as flowers. That makes them more versatile and, as such, valuable dies to own. I started with a small piece of some gray and cream snowflake paper that I owned (one of the few Christmas themed papers I owned at the time). I stamped a few of the snowflake stamps from the Snowflakes and Twigs stamp set around the background for interest. I stamped them in black and embossed them so they would show up against the busy background paper. Next I added a border strip of cream and black card to which I added some layered scalloped cream lace. Next I cut out the large Holly motif and embossed it. Before removing it from the die, I taped the back of it so the pieces would stay intact. I like this technique as it gives you a completely different look to your die. Next I cut it again out of black card but removed the fall way pieces. I stamped and embossed the black Holly motif with the snowflake stamp so that it was off centred and slightly off the die edge. I layered the two Holly Motif pieces, slightly offsetting them. I stamped my sentiment and cut it into a forked strip. I layered this piece with a black mat. I stamped the edge with another snowflake stamp for interest. I cut out two of each of the snowflakes, but did not emboss them. I did this because I was turning one of each of them over to create my flower. This gave me a mirror opposite to create my flower with. So I layered all four pieces up and curled them inward to create my flower. I added a large black rhinestone for the centre. The flower was glued on top of my double bow tied from black silky crush ribbon. I added two stick pins that were a gift to me from Linda Burrows, aren't they beautiful! The unforked end of my sentiment strip was glued underneath my bow. I finished the card with Cosmic Shimmer black PVA glue dots around the edge. A very vintage looking Christmas card for you. All for now, Sue x

Wow, what a stunning card. All the snowflakes work together, as do all the different elements of this card. A small masterpiece, to balance this busy card so beautifully.
Also, thanks for the tip about taping the die to retain the "fall away" pieces. I shall try that.

A bit earlier today with my comment.
2 Thumbs up LOL!!!
I thought that the loads of detail would make it untidy but it all looks great.
Hi Sue
Love the card and colours, I too was wondering what the snowflake could be used for as it did not cry out 'snow' so this die has not had much use 'yet' but will get over use as flowers ha ha
Happy crafting

Hi Sue
I'm not sure about this card - for me it's a bit too fussy. However, I think the flower is a really clever idea as is the taping of the pieces in the holly die.
Another amazing card Sue - just love the lace again. Wish my cards turned out like that when I don't know where I'm going!! Yvonne xx
Hi Sue.
Love the card if not the colours. Would work just as well in other colourways I think.

Great idea to use the snowflake as a flower
Hi Sue,
Have been away for a few weeks and really missed being able to see your wonderful creations. So glad to be back although I;m afraid I think this card is a bit to busy for me. I have used the snowflake dies to make flowers and they really do look nice.
Best wishes
Beverley W
This is surely a card for a 'special person' - couldn't make them for everyone on the Christmas List :) Thanks for the hints and tips - taping the pieces while still in the die etc... very useful.
love it Sue....would never have thought of a flower! and I love the banner sentiment another of your stunning ideas.....take care Margaret MP
Hi sue what a great look for Christmas, love the black and white xxx
all the best martine xxx
Hello Sue, Such a dramatic card, the snowflakes, flowers, ribbon and lace come together perfectly.
Thanks for the tip of taping the back of the holly die. Busy cards are not usually my taste, but this card has changed that.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs June x
Love the black and white but a little fussy for my taste.
Hi Sue. What a lovely card. It is a bit busy but I like it. I like the stamping with black embossing, and making a flower out of the snowflake dies is a great idea!! I am not to keen on black and white or cream for christmas cards. I would use other colours. The bow is lovely!! Have a great day Love Tres x x x
I love the idea of not having to push out all those little pieces in the die - never thought of that, Duh!
There is too much going on in this card. I had to look for a while to see all the details. But it's a Sue Wilson card and they are always elegant :)
Hi Sue love the different colours for a Christmas card and turning snowflakes into flowers.
Hi I like this one Sue and I like the banner , must try one of those it looks so lovely I adore the cream christmas card below and have just purchased the dies because of it !!, wow am I going to be busy.
well done another stunner
Hugs Elaine W
Hi Sue, A little too much going on for me. But still an elegant card. Hugs, Carol S.xx
Hi Sue
Super card, 1 of my fav colours and will be coping this one too lol!
Thank you Lizzie (serial copycat)oxo
Dear Sue were you not doing a happy dance this is a happy dance card if I ever saw one. It is very beautiful all your stamping and embossing is stunning and I love that backing paper and that is before we even get to the spellbinder bits! I like the idea of keeping "bits" in as it looks great. Once one of my anenomes had two kind of paper stuck in (Iwas doing more than one layer!) and it looked good but the deliberate effect here is like a new kind of embossing. You always create something ofiginal in every post. As I told you before you are the Mozart of Art and Craft. Vee xx
*original even !lol sorry Vee xx
Hi Sue
Another stunning card, Love the flower.
Margaret L

Hi sue love the card apart from the backing paper! Sorry but it makes it look really busy and unless I have the exact paper I wouldn't know what paper to use!! Lol I would just have an embossed background with the snowflakes stamped on it love lesley xx
This is a bit busy for my liking but I do like the Text with the Snowflake printed at the end. Thanks. Hil xo
Gorgeous elegant card as usual Sue. Love it.
Sue, I love this coloured card & would never have thought to use snowflakes as flowers, beautiful!
Hugs Allison x
Love the black and white but this is just a bit too busy for me!
This is another beautiful card Sue, thanks for all the great ideas. xxx
I don't know how to describe this card, of course it's beautiful, it's a 'Sue' card, but the components don't merge together as well as your very best cards. I suffer from this, often, where the whole is not greater than the sum of it's parts. I wish I knew why, some just seem to be parts put together rather than a cohesive whole!
Thank you, Sue
Christine

love it as usuall hugs Corinne
