Christmas Double days

Hello bloggers!  Two Christmas cards today that are a bit more simplified in their design.  The first offering showcases the Christmas Tree Greetings die.  I did a bit of embossing first off using the Swirling Holly embossing folder with a piece of coconut white card to add texture to my background.  I wrapped a piece of black satin ribbon around the bottom portion of the card and taped the ends to the back.  I added a double bow to the centre of it and topped it with a small red poinsettia with a black Dazzler centre.  For the focal element, I used Midnight Sparkle Texture paste through the Wavy mask on to a piece of black card for a tonal look.  I let it dry overnight and added a thin black mat to it and raised it for dimension.  I cut the Christmas Tree Greetings three times in white card and stacked them using spray adhesive in between the layers, the added it to my sparkle texture paste background piece using Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue for good adhesion on to the glitter.  I finished the card with a white paper pierced layer, a thin black mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

The second card offering is ultra simple in design, but simply beautiful I think.  I used the twinkle stars from the Christmas Angel 2015 to cut into a piece of coconut white card, top and bottom.  I backed the area left open in both the top and bottom part of the card with a piece of black glitter card.  I cut the Peace on Earth die and sprayed it with Permanent spray adhesive then coated it with Silver Chrome polished silk glitter.  I added it to the centre of the card with spray glue as well.  I randomly dotted some dries clear glue around the background, then added some small silver confetti stars (from my stash) as accents.  The final matting and layering was added with piercing, a thin silver and black mat, then another white mat to complete the card. A really fast make if you are doing batch cards too.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/2" in size.  I hope something has tickled your fancy this week!  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue & Wilsonettes

Simple & Elegant seems to be the order of the day Sue but what stylish classy looks for these two beautiful cards...never would have thought of Black for Christmas cards but you are fast converting my mind to the idea of monochrome design. I adore the layers of embossing/masking as it elevates the word tree up beautifully & the Peace on Earth sentiment is a stand alone winning sensation...I cannot choose between the 2 because each would be appreciated by the recipient in its own way...

To all my Wilsonette friends I haven't had a moment to myself of late...what with the front garden, cleaning mould, painting again, doctors, hospital, CT Scan & another one in 4 weeks, camera down my nose...ahhhhhh that hurt,Laurens wee sample(yes friends that took 1hr & 18mins this time although she is poorly the result was satisfactory, so the vet is happy for her to come to Cornwall with us Saturday 8th which will be lovely as we will have our Anniversary there on 9th Aug...so now preparing for that aswel, garden again in the wet & dry...

& last but not least I took advantage of Steve yesterday...LOL...well to get him to help me with the garden, he does up to 11 hour shifts at work so it would be awful to expect him to help out but he had day off yesterday so when he said he is all mine & told me to take advantage of him...well I just had to who could resist...LOL...

Ladies I will write in response to all your comments tomorrow or Sunday (haven't had a chance to read them yet)as I need to do a little more on garden before I have bath & hair wash before going to the hairdressers this afternoon for a few hours pampering especially the head massage (out of this world & all tingly)...boy do I need it & want it...lol

Sue sincerely hope that you Mum & family are keeping well you must be so delighted seeing them again...love 'n' (((((HUGS))))) to you & yours...& of course it goes without saying the same to my special friends & to all lovely Wilsonettes Beth B x x x x x

The second one is a very simple but elegant card will be giving this one a try over the weekend. Sorry can't pick a favourite as they are both stunning in there own right.

Good morning Sue and crafty ladies
you don't see black that often on Christmas cards so two very unusual colour schemes for today, the black on black backround is stunning and I love the word tree die so veering towards the first card this week. The sentiment on the second is truly beautiful though and black stars?! Very de rigueur.
Beth, my word, you have had a lot on, take a breather and enjoy your pampering, sounds wonderful.

Lovely, lovely cards Sue. I do like the tree, it's such a different style using words.

Oh Beth B, poor Steve, did he really have gardening in mind when he said to make the most of him I wonder!!!!
We have open gardens this weekend in Ingleton, Yorkshire so my John is out there battling with the weeds.
Had busy day yesterday as our Monty Poodle was poorly sick, he spent day with vet having scan on his tum - thankfully nothing sinister showed up. He has medication and is taking things easy today, just the odd bark to warn passers by he is still the boss around his home.
Our little gardening group Ingleton In Bloom came second in fancy dress at our Gala last weekend, "Lady Gardeners do it in Bloomers" and yes we were in lacy bloomers with bling and hats and gloves. Great fun.

Really must go and lend a hand in the garden now so love and hugs to you all

Hi Sue.

Adorable two delightful cards for Christmas, I cannot choose one card as I love them both.

I have the two dies. and I think all your Festive Dies are brilliant, and can be used in various ways as you have stated in the second card.

The word tree, I have used this die two ways, the one you have used today, and if you cut out the die. and cut carefully between the words, you can make other cards by using just one word on each card if you like. Very versatile die ! glad I bought this word tree die.

Good Afternon sweet Sue and the Wilsonette lovelies!

Don't you just love a bargain, and today's two for one is no exception. I must admit that at the best of times I am apt to throw everything but the kitchen sink at my cards, so at Christmas it's a free for all for me! However, a lot can be said for classic simplicity where the dies do all the hard work-I could take a leaf out of your book Sue and taper down some of my creations especially when you are required to produce large batches. It goes without saying that both cards are equally gorgeous, I love both dies, especially the Christmas tree and what a good idea to stack it together to make more dimension. I will definitely be using this colour scheme with my cards this year so thanks for the inspiration.
Beth, no wonder you have been absent for a few days! What a palaver having to repaint your craftroom again, not to mention your health woes- it sounds that, like me, you have a season ticket to the local hospital:-) all joking aside, I hope the results of your procedures are favourable and that you are raring to go for your holiday next week-if Steve has anything to do about it, you will be well and truly serviced....though does Mr B know the full extent of his services and stamina, 11hrs is impressive by anyone's standards! Good news about little Lauren though, what a load off your mind. Hope that you enjoy your pamper session, you deserve it!xxx
Deb C, I am very impressed by your ability to keep a secret on pain of death, Yvonne should forgoe any references from your commanding officer, I feel that you would be an asset to any radical organisation:-) Are your activities within the bounds of the law?
Molly, you are a little sweetheart, how impressive that you feel confident enough to do one of Sues cards on your own. Your gran will be really proud of you. I hope your grandad is coping with his treatment and he's not too upset at losing his hairxxxxx
Yvonne, had a lie in today? What kind of example is that to set to your loyal followers, a CEO should be at the helm 24/7! Looking forward to the return of Jake dear , what Mum doesn't love a suitcase of dirty washing to wade through?:-)xxx
Have a nice weekend everyone, commiserations in advance for when I win the Wednesday card giveaway tomorrow ;-)

Both cards are absolutely drool-worthy but my favorite is the first one!! LOVE a black and white card!!! That black sparkle embossing is divine and I love how you put it together!!! YUMMY! TFS!

Hi Sue, both cards are beautiful (using your dies they can't fail to be) and I do like the Christmas tree but the second one has to be my favourite and not just because it is one of the dies I have :-) I don't have the angel's star but I am sure I can find a reasonable substitute to attempt something similar.

Beth - so pleased you will be able to take Lauren on holiday with you as I know it wouldn't be the same for you without her.

Hi Sue, love the Christmas tree card both cards are lovely but the tree looks really stunning in the White with the black background, I think this tree will be used a lot this year, I love the way the creative expression make this week used it by cutting it up to make the sentiment out of it, such an easy thing but would never of thoughts of it. Take Care Melody xxxXxxx

Hi Sue
Two very beautiful Christmas cards. Adding the black sparkler into the center of the poinsettia really shows it up really well.I have always just added a Gold one but the black is much better and stunning. A very beautiful tree card Sue.Your second card is maybe simple but the die is a large one which doesn't really need anything else added to the card .I really like this one Sue
Take care

Hi Sue,
Both cards are delightful but the one which really sings to me is the Christmas tree words. I fell deeply in love with this when you first showcased it. The dies I ordered have arrived and they are all fabulous, the corner border tag is just beautiful., but the word tree is my absolute favourite and very versatile as I can get all the letters of two of my grandchildren names out of it, and for the third grandchild please can you design one with an X on it next year LOL.

Love and hugs for all
Saba

Hellooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Oh wow! Another two-fer of gorgeousness! they are both beautiful Sue. I love the sentiment of the Christmas tree and the sentiment of "Peace on Earth" too. I love the background of the tree. What a great technique on the EF. Awwww Beth, you really have been through it haven't you? So glad that Lauren can go with you on holiday and that Steve has been able to help you a bit. 11 hour shifts are so hard. Hope you've had a lovely pamper day and have a wonderful time a week today, you all deserve it. Meg fantastic that you came second in the lacey bloomers! xx Molly, it's wonderful that you're going to do one of Sue's cards on your own! xx Maggie, have a wonderful time in Norfolk, "Happy birthday" to your daughter and enjoy precious times together xx Yvonne, ooooo, I wish I was. I was lucky to win two tickets to go to Ally Pally earlier this year via Simply Cards & Papercraft x It was great. We went on the Sunday though 'cause the boat race was on as well on the Saturday. But apparently it's busier on a Saturday with more stalls? x If the chance to go again comes round (plus funds, lol!) we shall make a date! Would love that xx Hope the interviews are going well for the BCAS......looks like you've got a fine fettle of candidates in the offing! lol! :) Good luck! x Take care everyone xx Sending love and hugs to you Sue, your mom and family xx Love and hugs to all our Wilsonettes who are in need xx Love Karen xx

Love both cards today, sometimes the more simple cards are the most effective. Just when I thought I had got all my dies sorted for Christmas this year, I see you have some more on the way. I had better make sure I don't spend too much while I am away on holiday so I have some funds left when I get back for some more of your goodies
