Orphan Cards

Happy New Year's Eve!  As always, today is the day that I post my the cards that I made during the year that just didn't quite sing to me when they were completed.  They didn't get their day on the blog  because I just wasn't quite thrilled with the way that they turned out if I'm honest (we are our own worst critics though, aren't we!).  The good news is that there were a few less this year than in years past.  I offer these "orphan" cards up to anyone that feels like they could give them a good home.  So if you would like to have a chance to be a foster parent to these cards, leave me a comment and I will draw a winner and post the name on Monday Jan 4th.  All for now, Sue x

Just Because

Hi bloggers!  I thought I would round out the last single card post of the year with a buckle card as they are one of my favourite cards to make!  I embossed the background using the Tartan Trellis embossing folder for texture.  Next I cut two of the Canadian borders in white and glued them to the top and bottom of the card.  I ran a strip of adhesive pearls along the edge of both borders.  For the focal element, I cut the Montreal die in white and backed it with custard card for a soft yellow tone.  I cut the centre out to create a frame.  I cut two of the smaller die from the Montreal die set in white and backed them with custard card too.  I used the oval die in the set to cut them both into frames and I assembled my buckle card using a Pierced Flag die as the weaving piece.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the smallest die in the Vancouver set and seated it on the next die up in the Vancouver set.  Both pieces were added to the centre of the buckle card with mounting foam.  I added three white flatback pearls to each side of the strip and three smaller pearls below my sentiment.  I completed the card with a pierced white mat, a custard mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4"  x  9" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Foldover Flower Border

Hi bloggers!  Today's video is a good example of using your dies in ways that may not be so obvious.  The Diagonal Foldover Flower die not only makes beautiful flowers, but makes a great border as well!

The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Live Laugh Love

Hi bloggers!  I started by using some Polar White sparkle texture paste through the Crisscross mask and allowing it to dry thoroughly.  I matted it with a pale silver and a darker silver card.  Next I cut three of the Lattice and Lace Striplets in white.  I cut a pale silver backing and two dark silver backings and attached them to the three striplets.  Next I cut the pale silver striplet down the centre and added half to both of the dark silver striplets so there was both colours in each striplet.  I added mounting foam and placed them on the edges of my textured background.  Using the Classic Adorned Design Noble, I cut it in pale silver and backed it in white card, then cut the centre out to create a frame.  I stamped my sentiment then attached the frame over the top and trimmed away the excess card.  I seated it on my card in between the borders.  Using the Perfect Peonies, I created a few flowers and added them as accents around the sentiment.  I completed the card with a pierced white mat, a pale silver and dark silver mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 9" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Caring Thoughts

Good Sunday morning all!  I began this card by cutting two Canadian Borders in white and gluing them to the sides of another piece of coconut white card.  I cut the Classic Adorned Design Noble in white then backed it with Wisteria card and attached it to the centre of the card between my borders.  I cut two of the Vancouver die in white and backed them in white.  I trimmed away a small portion on both then put the two larger pieces back together to form a single die  and attached it horizontally across my background.  I cut the Montreal die in white and backed it with wisteria card then cut the centre out to create a frame.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the centre of the Montreal die.  I inked it with Shaded Lilac before removing it from the die then seated the frame over the top of it.  I attached it in the centre of the card.  I added white pearls as accents then added my final mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/2" in size.

There isn't a Comment Game this week because we are closed at Creative Expressions until after the New Year, (no way to send out the prizes) but we will take it back up in the New Year!

Staggered Square Checker

Hi crafters!  Happy Boxing Day!  I hope you had a fabulous Christmas!  Today's video is a sweet card that I did showcasing one of the ideas I had for the Corner Squares die set.  I really liked the way this one came out, I hope you do too!

All The Rest Of The Christmas Cards

Hello bloggers!  And a very Merry Christmas to all of you that have stolen a moment today to pop by the blog.  Traditionally, today is the day that I post the remainder of the Christmas cards that have not found their way onto the blog throughout the year.  I did start the Friday double day posts quite a bit earlier than usual too!  As you can see, I probably still have enough cards for several more months of Fridays!    To be honest, I am not entirely certain if I have gotten them all, and there may even be one or two that I had posted and forgotten, but all in all, here they are. The cards are in no particular order, just as I happened to find them in my folder.   Please let me know which ones are your favourites of this lot or even if you have a special card that was shown during one of the Friday double days.  I would love to hear.  I hope that everyone has a simply wonderful day and are able to enjoy it with family and friends!  All for now, Sue x
