Thank You

Hi crafty friends!  This one is a favourite of mine as I love unusual backing papers.  I find myself looking at papers now thinking "how will that look covered in micro beads!"  LOL  This paper is from Graphic 45 and has a lovely brown, creamy yellow and black colour combo to it.  I covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet and micro beaded it.  I cut the bottom edge on the diagonal.  I used a piece of coordinating pale yellow card for the bottom of my background.  Using a score board, I added some lines to the bottom and a light inking of black Soot to add interest.  I used a leftover piece of the background paper and tore small circles of different sizes, crumpled them and glued them together to form the floral  cascade between the two sections of the background.  I added small black pearls to the centres of each of the flowers.  Next I stamped the lace medallion on black card using a clear perfect medium pad.  I heat embossed it with clear powder and cut it out with the matching nested medallion die.  I stamped the smaller medallion from the Always and Forever set on the pale yellow card.  I cut two sizes of the nested medallion to create a frame from it.  I stamped my sentiment on the yellow card and mounted the frame over it with foam pieces.   I added it atop my lace medallion as my focal element.  To finish the card, I added a couple of soft black feathers to my focal element and a black rhinestone swirl section to my bottom corner.  I pierced the inner layer of my double black mat.  It's very Moulin Rouge in it's feel, but a really fun piece!  Finished dimensions are 6" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

GM Sue - its dark but I like it! Love the flowers - must try these. Have been looking at Graphic 45 paper pads lately- expensive and not sure which one to get, so not doing anything until I can make my mind up - any advice perhaps?

Re the TH ruler - when you demo this, please can you tell us how to ensure the dots meet up perfectly in the corners - I am sure this has something to do with the size of the card you are piercing - I can do straight rows fine, but when I pierce all round the card, the corners never seem to align perfectly dot and spacewise - there's either a gap or you put in an extra one which just doesn't look right and this really annoys me!! Hope this makes sense.

Hi Sue,

I am a colour block girl by nature, dark or light; but you are really making me stretch into the unknown, mostly because designer papers are sold in quite large quantities, and therefore proves expensive just for one or two samples, which happen to suit me or my current project.
This box is miles outside my thinker. I hear you say' 'Try harder'!
However, I confess that I like today's quite busy background, which appears calmed down with the marvellous micro beads and the pale yellow bottom and focal point.
I will have a go at this!

What you did with the Graphic 45 is awesome. Truly a work of art, and so much detail work. The diagonal tear was something I've never thought of (I'm not an artist! Just a copier!) What a great idea, and then to use bits of the design paper to make flowers. What is the sticky paper you used for the beading? I've done the Sookwang with Ritz Glitter, but again, never thought of any beading. Is it difficult to get the beads to adhere (I'm thinking MS tiny beads, and I've had difficulty each time I've tried to use, mainly as flower centers). Thanks for sharing such a stunning work of art.
