Christmas Double Day

Hello crafters!  The time for the double days is quickly starting to dwindle, only a few more left to go.  Two different styles for today's choices though.  First up is a gold and black card with a very elegant feel to it.  I cut several of the Lattice Ribbon die in both gold mirror card and black card, extending the lengths on both of them for the centre panels.  Next I backed each of them with the same colour card and attached them onto another card in a diagonal fashion.  I trimmed the card edges once attached.  I cut the sentiment from the Gingerbread Man die set in gold mirror card and glued it in the upper corner.  I added a large floral element in the opposite corner using the Classic Poinsettia and the Holly Swirl die sets.  On the poinsettias, I frosted the edges with gold Glitter Kiss before assembling them.  Gold, white and black mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two features the Poinsettia Star and checker board border.  I cut the Poinsettia Checker board border three times out of coconut white card.  I backed each of them with Ruby Red card and attached them to another piece of white card with mounting foam.  For the Poinsettia Star, I cut it in white first.  Next I embossed it into red card so the design showed and then hand cut around the flowers and glued them underneath the flowers on the white die cut.  I added a black backing to make the entire design pop out then added it to the centre of the background with mounting foam.  I cut two of the Holly Swirls in white and added parts of them to the upper and lower corners of the star as an accent.  The finished dimensions are 7"x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue. Two most delightful gorgeous luxurious samples for today if these don't add a warm winters glow to thaw our frozen Friday then nothing will, I usually have one that is slightly ahead but defiantly not today. It's actually bought it home to me just how much I've missed out on buying some of the 2017 festive collection and I'm kind of dad, but it's not like they are retired after the festive season is over so I'll have to save up like crazy in the new year to allow me to 'catch up' with a few, I'm seething as I still wait for my Snow Globe and little inserts, and I'm certain my Gingerbread guys have been held hostage ! Never again will I be disloyal to my shop I'd rather keep her business alive than internet shop - cheapest isn't always best !!
Sorry about that Sue, rant over and hugs in the post xxx

Dear Sue and Double-Happy Crafters,

Woohoo and Woohoo! I like the first card best, but only by a smidge. Maybe more than a smidge because I like it even though I don't have the Lattice ribbon. I like how the gold on gold and black on black give you such different effects. I do, however, have everything for the second card except the poinsettia star. Perhaps, and I'm ducking as I say this, it could use a little less poinsettia. Perhaps one of the other stars would shine in that role.

Hi Princess! Hi Matron!

Stephanie Pawprintx4, it does sound like you're on track to enjoy yourself. Perhaps your guests would enjoy decorating the tree.

I stayed home again today and slept. The only way I can get anything done is after everyone's gone, and the only way I can keep them from piling on the sandbags is to not be there.

And even though I had my oil furnace thoroughly cleaned and my chimney swept just two months ago, it acted up and now won't run. It wouldn't turn itself on automatically, so I had to press the restart button, and then it smoked and belched black soot. Now it won't run at all. So I left a message for the company and I'm running a little electric space heater in my room. It's doing an excellent job. Nice that my lack of heat is not caused by a lack of electricity.

Littlelamb, I hope your world is fully powered now.

Whoever it was who is thinking about paring her Christmas card list down from 150 cards, you have my respect for making, writing, addressing and sending so many. Respect and admiration. Well done!

Love and holiday huggles,
Donita

Hi Sue, a lovely two-fer today. I love the Poinsettia border and have used it on lots of my cards but the first card is stunning and wins for me today, it is sumptuous and flashy and not the sort of card I would normally go for so I think it must be the beautiful poinsettias that make it for me. I invested in some Glitter Kiss in several colours and I am so glad that I did. It is so easy to use and the effect on vellum is stunning.

Frosty and very cold today so keep warm everyone and Elaine and Donita I hope you get your heating sorted soon.
