Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello bloggers!  I did include this card in my favourites from last year even though it hasn't had it's day on the blog until now, but it was a demo from the last shows that I did in 2016 so I thought it counted!  I started with a piece of coconut white card and cut the Family Tree die out of the top except I left the very bottom of the trunk uncovered with the cutting plate.  This allowed me to partially die cut the image, but left it in tact.  Next I used the Double Pierced Noble Circles Set B to cut the area around the tree.  Again, I left the very bottom of the die uncovered so it would not cut there.  I used scissors to nip away the small part between the two dies that was left uncut.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it.  Next I created a background using an assortment of Pixie Powders.  I used Burnt Orange, Straw Yellow Emerald Green and Aubergine Dream.  I spritzed it with water to activate the powders and dried it thoroughly before adding my tree over it.  I cut a wide border and added the decorative edge from the Trellis Edger to both sides and stamped my sentiment in the middle of it.  I added it with foam below the tree and completed the card with white mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.   If you would like a chance to win this card, just leave a comment.  The winner will be announced on Sat. blog post.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue.
At the risk of being boring it's no wonder you listed this gorgeous card as a 2016 favourite. I'm still struggling to find a Spitzer bottle, so my experiments with the powders haven't gone to plan ! So it's lovely to see it done properly. Having this die collection I'd like to think I could end up with a beauty like this one day.
sending my usual hugs for the day xx

Good morning Sue and all the blogettes.

I am trying so hard to resist the Family Tree but it's getting more difficult. Not even sure we can get Pixie Powders in the U.S. Thanks for showing us how to make the tree seem to grow right out of the paper under the circle aperture. Like Donna Golby, I comment early, which is just before falling asleep, and go back the next night to read the rest of the comments. For Stephanie Cotterill, I have found spritzer bottles with cleaning supplies. For water, you don't need a tiny one like they sell with art supplies. Tina T, our hearts go out to you.
Love to all my sisters in paper crafting.

An awesome card today. I was able to watch you demonstrate this card on Hochanda. You are so clever about cutting out the tree but leaving the tree trunk connected to the base card. I like how the bits and pieces of the tree limbs/leaves can be cut away from the tree for more versatility and a unique spray of leaves around flowers. I also like that there is a backing for for the leaves. And then there is the Pixie Powder background. Love those Pixie Powders. Sue, you are so neat when you work with Pixie Powders. I, on the other hand, look like I am breaking out with some disease with all the splotches of colors all over my fingers and hands.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Aren't the new range of pixie powders gorgeous? They are rich and Autumnal in colour palette and suit the nature of this card to a tee. The Family Tree is a stunning die and just so versatile, i would really like to add it to my collection but will have to be patient i guess:-(
I can really see why you picked this card out as a favourite Sue, its a beauty and would be a welcome addition to my home and to that of many others too I'm guessing:-)
Well i was true to my word, after running some errands earlier in the day, i then set about tidying away the Christmas decorations....a job that is not to be taken lightly, the delicate nature of packing away numerous glass baubles without breaking any in the process is something i can never quite manage. Now, I'm not known for my brute strength...5 and a half stone weakling to be honest.....but i still managed to crush one with my bear hands, scattering said bauble on the floor where unsuspecting pussy paws could come a cropper! That along with a shopping delivery to contend with made the afternoon pretty lively.....i did have delivery of a rather fab pair of LK Bennett suede shoes to ease my pain though:-)
I feel like i have fallen way behind in my acquisition of the most current dies, i had a mad splurge buying all of the Christmas range but since then my purchases have been non existent. I do have a little confession to make though, rather than spend my Christmas money on said dies i have been seduced by my second pair of LK Bennett shoes, five Reiss skirts, a Reiss dress, two Reiss jumpers and a leather belt! I should be ashamed of myself, call myself a crafter?, Yvonne will have a field day questioning my loyalty to Sue and the Cause, how can i hold my head high on the blog now i ask myself? Please don't judge me harshly, i am a weak, easily impressed shopaholic whose penchant for spending extends far beyond the realms of crafting unfortunately....I'll never die a rich woman but i will be a well dressed, heavily adorned corpse...sorry if that joke is in bad taste to some, its just my feeble sense of humour at play again!
Pam, i was heartened to see one of your regular posts, the world cannot function without your morning round up:-) Keep up the good work my lovelyxxx
June, hope your physio passed without too many oohs and plenty of ahhhs! You're doing a great job, you'll be signing up for next years Strictly at this rate:-)
Tina, thanks for the update on Peter, I'm so sorry he's not improving, I'll keep thinking of himxxx
Elaine, how is Andrew, will he get his treatment this week?Hoping you are both wellxxx
Yvonne, i hope your Mum is okay sweetie....i'll refrain from any banter out of respect and wish you both well, speak to you tomorrow honeyxxxx
Frances, how is little Pippin, has he fully recovered and forgiven you for the assault?:-)
P, entertaining you say? I like the sound of that, though i have to say that after enduring an hour long conversation with Yvonne, entertained is definitely NOT the word I'd use:-)
Special hugs to my blog besties Tracy, Myra,Maureen,Pat, Deb C, Alison, Wheely and everyone on this fabulous blogxxx

Hello Sue. This is a great technique. I'm trying to perfect it, but it's not as easy as you seem to make it. Practice, I guess. Would love to see I in real life. Myra from Florida

I saw your demo online and loved the simple yet eye catching lines of this card. Any use of Pixie Powder is great in my mind.
We are to get snow it seems and in the Southern US that means a mad dash to the grocery store so I'm off.
