Christmas Double Day

Hi crafters!  These Christmas double days are coming around very quickly, aren't they?  Not too many of them left now!  I wanted to show that the Snow Globe scenes need not always be used with the snow globe so the first card up is just that!  I started by embossing a piece of white card using the SnowFlake Lattice embossing folder and adding small pearl to the snowflakes.  Next I cut the Snowman Snow Globe Scene in white.  I backed it with Sky Blue card.  Next I used the Double Pierced Noble Circles to cut a multi-layered frame using both white and blue card.  I spray the white frame with adhesive and glittered it before adding the blue frame above it.    I glued a piece of acetate across the back and added mounting foam tightly around the back edge.  I added a couple of small scoops of white micro beads and then glued the Snowglobe scene to the back of it to create a shaker card.  I used some matching blue satin edged ribbon down the centre of the card, cutting the end into a fork.  I seated the snowglobe scene in the centre of it.  I tied a double bow and added it to the top of the ribbon.  I accented it with a pretty silver diamante charm.  I completed the card with white and blue mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is a great one to make for batch cards as it is very quick and easy.  I cut two apertures in a piece of white card using the Bold Snowflake Flurry; one completely on the card and the other one slightly off  the edge of the card.  I embossed it with the Nordic Tiles embossing folder.  I cut a slightly larger piece of silver mirror card and embossed it with the same folder.  I seated the white card over it lining up the embossing with the silver piece so the pattern is completed.  I trimmed away the excess card that showed so both white and silver card were even.  I cut the Bold Snowflake Frame centre die twice out of silver mirror card and used the fall away snowflakes and added them to the end of the flag strip where I stamped my sentiment.  I completed the card with a simple white on white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Wonderful cards Sue. Both very beautiful but no 1 is a real romantic.
Elaine, I was so saddened to hear of Andrews treatment at the hospital. That staff member broke every rule, no humanity or compassion, but more so she broke the patient confidentiality rule as well as being a bully, they do not deserve to work in the health profession when dealing with very ill patients. I hope Andrew is feeling a little better in himself.
June and Sharon, good to hear of your progress, yes the physio is hard and tiring but stick with it ladies, the finish line is in sight.
Betty, you will have your cast off for Christmas, won't be too long.
Tina, Peter is a patient man, just as well the length of time it's taking.
Maria, thanks for message re Gary's song, I'll tell him you think his voice was good enough, he will be chuffed.
Thank you for good wishes. The lung damage from the pneumonia was worse than they thought so any cold will turn to a chest infection, I have to keep antibiotics in house now to start ASAP when necessary. I am trying to keep warm but it has been very cold at work this week.
Caring hugs to all, Tina and Mick, missing you. Keep warm and well everyone.

Oh Sue, the first sample is so cute and beautiful my first thought was to celebrate babies first Christmas maybe, but the second sample had me baffled, I'm not the brightest bulb in the box but at first glance it looked like you'd stamped a gold snowflake on the front of this card, so my brain couldn't put the photo with the method lol maybe it's the hour of the day where your brain tells you something to what you are looking at, there again it could just be me lol either way both samples are gorgeous both in different ways.
Hope this hug finds its way to you and you can put it to good use. Have a good day dear friend xxx

You can do twofer Christmas days for ever, Sue, love them! Particularly like the first, so Wedgwood-esqe (but don't think they ever did a snowglobe lol) gorgeous ribbon and bow too.
Pam - hope you're starting to feel better. Extra woollies for work!
Elaine, can't understand disgraceful treatment of Andrew, that person should feel ashamed. Mr P was in same position but never went through anything like that, perhaps because our local centre got to know him so well as he had to go every day for months, that he was automatically ushered to the quiet corridor - a bit like banishment to Siberia but relatively germ free!! Wishing him better days.
Laine - glad you're back but so sorry you're afflicted like PP. Were you two separated at birth? Will be pleased when your banter gets back to normal, which will mean you're both lots better. Those two Myra and Maureen are vying for the top insult spot so hurry up!
Hugs to all.

Good morning Sue. A big bow to start the day - I'm happy! Both cards are lovely but the first is definitely my favourite.
Elaine, I hope that Andrew us going to make a formal complaint, no-one should be spoken to in that manner never mind someone who has a card signifying a complex medical need. As Pam says, confidentiality was broken. Usually our NHS are fabulous and I have nothing but admiration for the staff who are often overworked and underpaid but it only takes one bad apple... Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Morning Sue. Your right these double day fridays are coming around really quickly now. I am so pleased i have all my christmas shopping done now, all i need is my food shopping and to finish my family christmas cards. So i could do with all the inspiration you can share as i want them finished for the end of the month. Good luck to me LOL. Todays cards are gorgeous, i love the snow globe without the globe lol would be great for the younger ones we have to make cards for but i wouldnt put the bow on for them but i do love your big bows. The second one is really beautiful and very classy. I couldnt make out what you were saying in your explanation but looking at the pictures it all made perfect sense lol. The embossing really catches your eye. Thanks for two more beautiful cards and i will have a try at doing the embossing like you have in card No2 over the weekend. Have a lovely weekend Sue.
Best Wishes.

Morning Sue
Oh my. These cards are right up my street. They are so different but both rocking my boat x
I love your snowman. The first card would be so 'cool' for children's cards but equally suitable for adults and 'big kids'. It's fab x
The second card is gorgeous. You really are embracing the new mirror card aren't you? This may be one of your quicker cards but once again you've nailed it. The pearlized card would be amazing as well x
Thank you so much for your continued inspiration and for sharing your amazing talent x
I ended up spending the afternoon with my friend yesterday who I had spent the day worrying about on Wednesday. She has the week off work and she picked me up and we had a lovely afternoon at hers having a catch up. We hadn't seen each other for a while so a lot of 'chin wagging' and a lot of talk about the terrible accident which she could have so easily been in had she not decided just last Friday to take this week off work! x
So apologies for another absence yesterday but I was done in by the time she dropped me back home and went straight to bed x
Thank you for all your kind words. The tram accident has shocked everyone and it is going to take a while for normality on the roads in the immediate area to resume. I think that the overturned tram is going to be removed today x
Elaine - I was mortified to read how Andrew had been treated. It is unbelievable that someone can be so insensitive and seemingly lacking in empathy. I know it's the last thing that Andrew needs right now but I do hope his 'mentioning'it to the right person will result in a serious lesson in common courtesy and a little tact and understanding. Sending you and yours hugs x
Pam - hope those antibiotics have kicked in. Take it easy x
Maria - you take care. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs to you x
Maureen - here's looking at you kid!!! Hope things are looking brighter x
Tracy - is that your 2nd week at work finished? Well done you x
Crewe Trish - hope things are warmer for you. Sending warm hugs x
Fluffy - I confess to only ever using the trams once but it was really enjoyable. It has been a welcome addition to life in Croydon but as you can imagine this accident has completely thrown everybody out of kilter x
June - you be a good girl and do your exercises. No pain no gain!! You are doing so well. Keep it up x
Cheryl -so pleased for your all clear x
Myra and Brenda - belated birthday wishes x
Sharon - hope that bug is gone. Are you and June in competition? Lol x
Tina - hope Peter's leg get's sorted. You both have the patience of a Saint x
Laine - it would appear that many on this blog are concerned for our health as it affects how much we insult each other! Lol. You would think that our coexisting in harmony and being nice to each other would make for a more agreeable arrangement and would please our fellow bloggers. What can I say - they're a strange bunch x
That's all for today folks.
Happy thoughts and lots of love to everyone especially my blog besties who have not been mentioned above. Thank you for 2 more amazingly gorgeous cards Sue x
Take care

Oooh Sue,

I do so love the twofers though at times it is hard to choose between them, but I think the Snow flakes just pips the post for me.

Thank you all so much for your good wishes.

Elaine, I so hope you make an official complaint re the receptionist. She had no right to treat Andrew in such an appalling manner, and needs hauling over the coals regarding her treatment of him.

Mammogram result will be sent in a few days. This is their new practise so that they can fit more BC patients in. I quite agree with it as sometimes you can be sitting for a long time waiting for the doctor to get the results through, and it also saves on the car parking fees. Practical as ever me.
But I do need another DEXA scan as last one was 2 years ago so another trip to Taunton for that.

Pam, my dear, you give so much support for all of us so I am sending bigger than ever squashy hugs to you, I hope the ABX kick in quickly to heal you.

As ever, healing thoughts and gentle prayers for all our poorly friends and hubbies/partners.

Love 7 hugs

Pp and ladies. Well that's week 2 over it's as if I've never left.! A few customers just thought I'd not been in a while others had just thought I'd changed my hair their face was a picture when I told them I'd actually lost all my hair and I'd no choice but apperentky they all said I looked way better than I'd done before so that was a lovely compliment.
Weeks 3 and 4 I'm back to my 6.30 starts so Pam watch out I'm going for the top spot!! Lol
Still finishing at 12 tho so that's good. It's getting busier now but I keep forgetting it's Xmas time getting closer. Xx

Love to all and hugs for all that are poorly xx

I don't do too much commenting on blogs any more because I have a partially torn right rotator cuff, awaiting surgery. However, I had to tell you that while both cards are lovely, I positively love the quiet, understated beauty of the snowman card. I must get that embossing folder. I am always inspired by your blog even though I do not always comment. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration.

I have to pick the snowman snow globe card, number 1 because I have the die and I love what you did with it. The second card might be a bit more of an interesting technique however. Very clever lining up the embossing patterns on the white & silver layers. Have not seen this before. You are one creative lady.

Hi Sue. Sorry I am a bit late today, I have only just at down to open my laptop and what a lovely surprise - 2 really pretty cards. I like what you have done with the shaker card (as discussed at Ally Pally, I am not a fan of snow globes) but I am a fan of snowflakes at Christmas so I really like that one too.

Two gorgeous cards. The first with the snow globe is so cute. The second with the snowflake apertures is more do-able for me. As I am nowhere near starting on Christmas (cards, presents, food shopping, the whole lot), I can do with all the inspiration you can give. About six or seven more birthday cards to make and then I'll be able to think straight.
Pam, I hope you are soon starting to feel a bit better.
Take care everyone.
