Home Is Where Your Journey Begins / A Note To My Bloggers

Hello crafters!  I started by lightly sponging some clouds onto the top of a piece of white card.  I hand cut a cloud shape and used it to ink with.  I cut a hill in green using the Stitched Hills & Cloud die set.  I cut the Bluebell Cottage in ocean card and added the door, windows and roof in slate grey.  I cut the Keeper's Cottage in aqua with a grey roof, windows and door in slate grey.  I added both cottages to the hill, then added several trees in different shades of green around them.  I added two topiaries around the Keeper's Cottage.  The sentiment was cut from Wordie sheets and added across the top of the card with mounting foam.  The card wad completed with white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are ???? in size.

Please scroll to the bottom, past the card samples, to read my important note to my bloggers and friends!

Hello bloggers!  I have been getting a lot of emails about Creative Expressions.  I thought that I would let everyone know what is happening.  In case you have not heard the news, yes, Creative Expressions is closing its doors.  A number of things have contributed to this decision including the fact that the owner of CE and the Managing Director who runs the business day to day have decided that it is time to retire  The craft industry as a whole seems to be  struggling with many wholesale accounts closing, from the brick and mortar shops to the online customers.  It just seemed that the time was right for many reasons.  I do not know the exact date of the closing, but there are so many great offers on at the moment for you to take advantage of.  Don't miss out before it's too late!

I started my blog on June 1st 2009.  I posted a couple of times a week to begin with, then realised that I had enough cards to be able to post every single day and that is exactly what I have done since mid September of 2011 without missing a single day.  I said at the time that I would post a card every day until I ran out of cards.  That day is almost here.  I am down to the last couple of cards so my blog will be coming to an end sometime in the next few days.  It has been a great run and I am very proud of the blog and all the lovely Wilsonettes that have popped by over the past fifteen and a half years!  I have gotten to know so many of you over the years, through the blog and also from seeing you at Ally Pally every year.  It has been incredible.  While I do not know what lies in my future at this point, I would love to continue to design with another company should the chance arise, but I would also like to do some travelling too.  There is still a lot of this big beautiful world that I would like to see and explore (remember Japan is still on my list!)  I will leave the blog up so you can access it for inspiration or instructions.  If  things change, then I will post it on the blog.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions.  Thank you so very much for all your support over the years, it has really been an amazing run and I have loved every minute of it!  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a stunning creation today, I love all the miniature village dies, there are so many possibilities of cards to make with them, oh I have just got an idea for a card popping into my head, I will have a play and then put on the group if it comes to Frisian . It is very sad news that the company is not going to be around some time soon, and there have been lot's of sales on many websites. Both you and Colin had worked so hard in designing and producing all the lovely products over the years, I remember Ally Pally every year, with everyone crowding around your desk where you were demoing and answering loads of questions, your stand was one of the most popular every year. I am so pleased that the blog will still be available to review at any time. I often go back and check something or seek advice. I wish you, Colin and everyone who is associated with the brand a very happy retirement, I hope you get to Japan some time soon.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue,
A beautiful card with your outstanding cottages, they definitely have character in your beautiful dies. Sorry to hear about Creative Expressions closing but understand why. I never got to meet you Sue as it was too far for me to travel to Ally Pally but I feel I knew you through your blog. I was lucky enough to have won some of your beautiful dies on the blog to go with the huge amount I purchased. We will miss you on the blog daily but hopefully you will pop on occasionally & let us know if you get to Japan. Enjoy your time & hopefully you will be able to design with another company. Yvonne xx

Dear Sue, thank you for the past 15 years of inspiration and for the comprehensive explanation. I was tempted to email and ask the questions you have answered but decided to wait and let you explain when the time is right, which you have. It will be sad not to look at your lovely creations on a daily basis but thank you for leaving the blog open so that we can revisit past purchases/techniques. I'm sure you know that you will be greatly missed but take heart in knowing you have inspired so many. Wishing you and your family the very best whatever it brings. WakeyL

Hi Sue. Having just retired myself, I was hoping to be able to spend more time crafting, but I would have to agree that the crafting world does seem to be going through a tough time at the moment and it would, perhaps, be the right time for you to relax and go see the world. You never know, you might be inspired to use your creative talents for something completely different. It was great to meet you at Ally Pally. It was always one of the high lights of my year. Good luck to you in the future,

Lisbeth

Dear Sue
I want to send you a big thank you for all your creativity and inspiration. I started crafting about ten years ago and during that time creative expressions has been my go to company for products.
I will miss your daily blog but realise the time and effort it must take you to post every day. I loved seeing you Ally Pally which has been the best craft shows around.
Thank you Sue for everything and I wish you all the happiness and health for the future.
Crafty hugs
