Let The Adventure Begin

Hi crafters!  It's safari time!  I started with a piece of coconut white card and sprinkled Pixie Powders all over it, specifically, Burnt Orange, Straw Yellow and Lava Red.  I spritzed them with water then added a piece of cling wrap over the top, scrunched it up to create wrinkles in it, then set it aside to dry overnight.  Once dry, you peel it off and it dries with the mica in the wrinkled pattern!  I used the Eliza die to cut an aperture in the top of it.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it and attached it to a piece of white card.  I cut the circle for the sun out of the Eliza die cut and glued it to the white backing area.  I used the African Animals die set and cut three zebras.  I cut two African trees from the African Adventure die set and glued them behind the zebras.  I cut the sentiment in black and glued it to the area below the aperture.  I added a white frame using the Double Stitched Rectangles.  White and black mats and layers completed the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, such a beautiful sample today, the colouring you have selected really brings the scene out and the embossing from the dies especially on the animals is amazing.

WOW what a fantastic card this morning , I just love it . Love the colours you have created from Pixie powders and the effect from the cling film which I am going to try. The African Animals and adventure dies work beautifully with the background. This card would look stunning in a black frame.

Hi Sue. Love the cling film over pixie powders effect on this card which gives the effect of grasses on the African Plain. Great use of that die to frame the animals.

Good morning Sue and all Wilsonettes.
A gorgeous card again today and brings back memories of my trips to South Africa when 3 of my grown up children lived there.
I bought these dies a while ago and have not yet used them but will definitely rectify that in the very near future, Your posting today just gave me the inspiration to 'Have a go' and for that I thank you warmly.
Greetings to all.

Good Morning Sue. I love these Safari scenes..... especially when you make the desert scene background from the lovely pixies. Although I once saw a night scene from you using the blue pixies which was just as nice. I am hoping to have these dies before my husband's birthday .... as I know he would love something like this. He is the second David Attenborough. Lol. Thankyou Sue. Sending best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

Morning Sue, Thank you for such a fabulous card showcasing your African animal dies. I too like the tip for using cling film.
This has cheered me up no end as since arriving in S.A.,we have experienced a huge fire which closed the main road into town and left us without power for over 24 hours.
I will be putting together a few cards using the African dies which I cut out to bring with me.
Love the background though. Hugs xx Pauline in S.A.

Hi Sue, I think this card is stunning. Love the way you have created what we would usually call the background but in this instance is actually the foreground and the embossing detail on the zebras is amazing.

Hi Sue,
BEAUTIFUL - I love the background, and of course the design is to drool over!
Just one thing though: once you've peeled the cling film off, do you then attach it with glue? I know it's a silly question but would make sure.......

A great scentic card design with a creative texture technqiue. I would not have thought to leave cling wrap on the pixie powdered background to get texture. I will have to try this. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hello Sue and all
I know it is very, very late but I have just realised I don't have a comment on this post and this is my favourite die set at the moment. I love the way you have set this one out. I have used the giraffes and elephants for my grandchildren's birthday cards for May and June this year already. The plastic wrap technique is fabulous, I am really thrilled with the results and am now going to try some other colours.

Thank you again for your inspiration

Hugs
