Birthday Wishes

Hi bloggers!  I wasn't going to post this card because I didn't notice it until after I took the pics, but it is upside down!  Not the layout, but the hearts on the embossing on the background.  I put the entire card together and never spotted that until I took the pics!  And that is the second time I have done that as I have another card with the same problem!  Then I thought what better card to post for my birthday today (as I am always seem to be upside down, it fits my personality! LOL)  I really liked this one and made another one, not upside down, in custard and grey, but can't find the pics of that one anywhere!  Since Debby did spill the beans yesterday in her comment, though, I'll fess up, I'm 56 today (I swear I was just 29 yesterday, where did the time go!)  My other half is treating me to some retail therapy at the outlet mall in Orlando then an early dinner at my favourite restaurant here called  P F Changs (white chocolate martinis, so much for that diet! LOL)  I can hardly wait!
I want to wish Katie-Louise Sweetlove a Happy Birthday today too as she mentioned in an email a few weeks ago that her birthday was coming up on June 4th!  Katie, I hope you have a lovely day doing exactly what you want!

As for a quick rundown on the upside down card, I cut four pieces of cardboard, two of each size so they could be stacked for thickness.   I taped them to the outside of my folder in the layout I wanted.  This was because I only wanted two areas on my background to be embossed, leaving an open strip in it.  I placed my blush card in my Heart Lattice folder and ran it through the machine using a special sandwich to adjust for the added thickness of the cardboard.  Wouldn't you know it, I wrote down the sandwich and taped it to my wall in my craft room AT HOME so I don't recall specifically, but I had to leave off the top plate and just add multiple layers of cardstock as I recall.  When you run your embossing folders through your machine like this, it causes every where you have the cardboard to emboss and the areas left without cardboard won't emboss.  The area where I have placed the Celtic Border was left plain.  I used my scoreboard to add some parallel lines around my border for emphasis.  I cut the Celtic border in coconut white card and glued it in the open area.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the oval from the Radiant Rectangles.  I used Brushed Pewter Stain on a piece of cut 'n dry foam to stencil through the die.  I made two roses using the method in the tutorial at the top of my blog and "sugared" them with Rock Candy dry glitter.  I added them to the top of my card with some white tulle and scrolly leaves from the Gold Elements One die set.  I finished it with a double white mat with an inner pierced layer.  A clean and simple upside down card if I ever saw one! LOL  I will probably do a tutorial on this technique at some point to add to the top of the blog.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

All good wishes on your birthday Sue - have a wonderful day of retail therapy. I'm reaching the exact same number in 2 months time. Don't think I'll get any white chocolate martinis though. Hopefully some new crafting goodies. Love the 'Australian' card today. x

Happy Birthday Sue I hope you have a fantastic day.The card is stunning and simple but elegant.I have made many upside down cards with this folder,I think Sue that it is because the embossing folder is upside down compare to the other folders I have,so you take it out and use it the wrong way,if you can follow what I am saying.
The card colour is fab.

A very happy birthday, Sue! Why not get Colin to treat you to something special from the Millennium Mall in Orlando? I love that place - Macy's at one end and Bloomingdales at the other with gorgeous shops in between! Roll on April 2015 when we go again! X

Good afternoon Sue,
The hearts are not upside down, you were just experimenting to see how it would look and to give a whole new look to the embossing folder. It could be the spades in a pack of cards. Anyway it does not matter to us as it is still a superb card and we get to see a bit more of the beautiful folders.
Hope you have a great birthday and remember you are only as old as you feel with some V.A.T. on it.
Love and crafty hugs

Hope have had a good day, any more celebrations and we are going to be flat on our backs singing " show me the way to go home " because we will be so inebriated. ( Hik ) :-)

I hope you are having a lovely day today and that you came home with a lot of bag of lovely goodies. I don't do clothe shopping so a trip to a craft store would be my big treat unfortunately my birthday is Boxing Day and as there are no craft shop anywhere near where I live that never happens but never mind because I usually just order the nearest block buster or mega deal that you are selling on C&C around that time and I'm a happy bunny.

Loving the cards would never notice the up side down bit
Keep up the good work all the best Pauline ( freedom99)

Dear Sue
May I say how honoured I am to be mentioned by you on your special day too. Many happy returns of the day , Happy birthday to you you certainly don't look 56 nor do you need to diet you have a lovely figure from seeing you on TV and they say TV put lbs on you so you must be very very slim indeed in real life as you seem very slim on TV.
I hope you enjoyed your retail therapy in Orlando I hope you were spoilt as you definitely deserve to be. I hope you enjoy your white chocolate martini drinks and have a wonderful meal.

The card is beautiful I'd never had noticed the hearts being upside down if you hadn't mentioned them and then I had to look carefully to see them! What a clever idea to use cardboard to get the embossing where you want it I'd never have even thought of it how do you find these things out? You really are very clever. The roses are beautiful in white and the leaf flourishes really show them well. Love the Celtic border with the embossed lines parallel to it really looks pretty.

I look forward to the tutorial on this when you are able (and snowed under with work ) to get it on the blog.

Thank you everyone who has been so kind as to say a happy birthday to me today I really appreciate it.
Happy birthday to izzwizz for next week let us know what day so i can say on the day, and happy birthday to all other Gemini people.

Best wishes and thank you And happy birthday once again Sue, from
