Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello crafters! A bright, eye catching, not so traditional blue for today's Christmas card giveaway.  I started by creating a Pixie Powder background using Aqua Lagoon and Midnight Blue with a touch of White Pearl.  I allowed it to dry well then cut the Lace Snowflake Frame out of the centre of it. I glued a piece of clear acetate to the back of the aperture, then cut the Lace Snowflake die again in black. I glued the black one back into the aperture opening.  I added mounting foam to the back of the background to raise it and added it over a piece of white card.  I cut four of the Snowflake Edger in white leaving a thin border, then glued them to the edges of the background and mitred the corners.  I stamped my sentiment in black, then cut the centre of the original pixie powdered snowflake frame to create a hexagon frame for the sentiment.  I added mounting foam to raise it then attached it over the sentiment and trimmed away the excess card.  I added it with foam to the centre of the card.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 8 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Leave a comment if you would like a chance to win this card in the drawing.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue. Beautiful card, love the background especially. I didn't realize that you had another launch due but I've had some emails showing what's coming and the only word to describe them is "fabulous". It's a good job that I've a birthday coming up, or the bank manager would definitely not be happy!
Pan, hope all goes well at your pre-op. Elaine, hope the doctors get to the bottom of Andrew's rash and that he can resume his treatment soon. Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Morning Sue. First of all after yesterday's post I eagerly wait for the dies you used, and all being well and they arrive today I have two days to get some cards done ready for Sunday so thank you for helping me to get a shivvy on and order them. Secondly, the verdict is out and I'm in love with my Pixie Powders, the sheets I pixied never turned out so good but with practice I now absolutely love them, I've only used them to cut your various flower dies and your Art Deco uppercase Alpha dies, but they still turn plain white card into something really really pretty, so when I can get to my little craft shop again I shall be adding to what I already have which isn't many at the moment. So today's sample and giveaway is just amazing, even prettier in the flesh so to speak, there is no doubt that it will really stand out amongst all other boring shop bought cards during the festive season. Looking forward to taking a sneaky peak at the next November dies I've been informed about and the launch to follow at some point. Storks and stitched animals waiting patiently on my table ready to be turned into something pretty later all being well ☺
I'll send my usual love and hugs, and hope you have a lovely day xxx

Dear Sue and Enthralled Fans,

Two things about this card are intriguing. First is using the snowflake edger around the inside. I never would have thought of that! And the other is the multi levels of the black snowflake. The feathered parts of the flake are on the same level as the Pixie Powdered blue, but there is white showing through the little ladders that make the hexagon, and where the white shows through, the black seems lower than the blue.

Thanks for naming which Pixies you use.

Best wishes for you are coming from around the globe, Pam.

Congratulations, Littlelamb, for your granddaughter's skating gold, and how the reverse order surprised you.

And to Barbara Macaskill for also having a hot ticket for a granddaughter. Lots of granddaughters on this blog are hot tickets. Probably because they take after their grandmothers!

Carmen, I really enjoyed your stories from Cuba. So funny how the Germans soaked up the sun and the English stayed inside.

Maureen Killeen, you are so right about that black hole, and it's not limited to the craft room. I have actually suspected my cat of running off with the television remote.

This little crafter is pretty happy about the gears and cogs. But I still haven't recovered financially from the last launch. For this one, I'm going to be much, much more firm with myself.

(pause for dramatic effect)

Hello Sue,
What a stunning, eye popping offering today. It would certainly put most other cards on my mantlepiece, windowsill, back of door and hanging down the walls, to shame ha ha.
Pam, hope all has gone according to plan at the hospital today and that you get an early date for your operation.
Donita, you know resistance is futile so you may as well choose which dies you want now!!!
Oh no, not the cat hiding things!! I'm still smiling at that remark.
Littlelamb, what a star your granddaugter is. I know she only started the ice skating recently, and it's amazing how fearless and talented she is on the ice. I could barely stand up never mind skate, and I certainly wouldn't attempt to dance!!!
Carmen, great to read about Cuba and you left one happy Doctor behind. I hope his treatment for hubbies legs worked! The bank teller wasn't slow in coming forward either was he?
Elaine, glad to read that the rash is responding to treatment, long may it continue and fingers crossed that he's able to have his treatment next week
Laine and PP, hope you are well.
love to all

Hello Sue,

I too have had a peek! Now I’m not sure a lot of them are my style but hey, I’ve said that before! I can imagine you may have had loads of requests for steam punk type Dies! I liked soooo many in the last two Launches - that’s my problem! Lol!
When Saba and I arrived here last Thursday there was a parcel on my kitchen table! While I made coffee, I said she could open it! She got quite excited but calmed down when the first thing she found was a pack of Grime Boss!! However, underneath were the Barbecue and all the tools - King of the Grill! They are lovely!
Pam - hope today has gone well!
Littlelamb - Brenda - well done to your multi-talented granddaughter!! Speak later! Yesterday was a mad day and I even forgot to post on Sue’s blog! x
Elaine - good news - let’s hope the improvement continues! Are you seeing straight now? Lol! I know it’s not funny but we tease one another here!

Carmen, I enjoyed your Cuban vacation account. I have always wanted to go and thought we would in a couple of years but sadly, our government seems to be on the outs with Cuba again. If I ever go, I will pack extra flip flops.

Hi Sue,

A non-traditional Christmas card indeed, but so eye catching. Love it.
A new release for November? When did you have time to come up with new designs? Of course, I couldn’t resist and I have had a sneak peak at your new dies. Really beautiful and useful.

Pam – Hope everything went well today. Thinking of you.
Elaine – So glad to read that Andrew’s rash is improving.
Littlelamb – You have a star in your family, beside you, of course :) Congratulations to your gold granddaughter!
Donita – The English (and the Canadians, but not the immigrants like us) didn’t stay inside, they were spending their time around the swimming pool where all the activities were taking place: aqua fitness, dance lessons, diving lesson, rum tasting, cocktail making lesson, art craft and where the music was non-stop. On Friday only, we had music and some contests on the beach. The rest of the days was so quiet you could easily fall to sleep.
Maureen – Yes, the treatment worked and my hubby is ready to go back!
Frances, Crewe Tris, Pat L – Yes, we enjoyed our vacation or our “second honeymoon” :)
Izzy – That makes two of us. The truth is a doctor makes less money than a waitress or receptionist or a maid that works in a resort. Most of the tourists give tips everywhere at least 1 CUC = 1 USD, for any small service.
Stephanie K – This is our six visits to Cuba and each time we met people from US. They still get there in different ways: buying a visa $50 and traveling to Cuba as tourists choose either “Support For The Cuban People” or “People-To-People Exchanges” as the reason for visiting, or thru Canada or Mexico or any other Central or South American country. Cuba government decided many years ago not to stamp your passport anymore, you get the visa on a piece of paper “Visa - Tourist card”. We used to pay 25CUC for this paper, at the check-in on our way back, now it is included in vacation price. My understanding is that you, as an American citizen, still have to pay it. When we visited first time Cuba, we were told, that this Tourist cards were introduced to help “their American friends” to enjoy Cuba’s life style. This is half true, because they need tourists more than American people need Cuba’s rum, or cigars or coffee. As you can see you still have a chance to visit Cuba, if you are an adventurous person. If you want a stress-free vacation, as an American citizen, it is better to chose a different destination, in my opinion.

Hugs to all,
Still a newbie to Craft / not longer the newest, or the only Canadian Wilsonette

Hello Sue,
You've created a stunning background with your pixie powders and it sets off the contrasting black Snowflake beautifully. Clever idea to use acetate behind it as well. Thank you Sue, you are truly an inspiration to us all. Had a sneaky peek at your new range, my word they are very different, I'm looking forward to seeing your samples.

Pam, hope you got on alright today and you won't have to wait long for your op.
Ann (Topcards) I meant to say yesterday in reply to your post that you might not have been commenting long but you are a fully fledged Wilsonette and as such deserved your Birthday wishes.
Elaine brilliant news about Andrews rash, fingers crossed for next Tuesday. Hope your ears are less itchty!
Carmen loved reading about your holiday, had to giggle at the doctor getting the flip flops. Remind me not to wear decent shoes when I visit my GP!
Brenda, well done to Scarlet, you must be so proud of her.
Donita, that's the Germans for you, I should know, I'm married to one!
Sam! I must have missed Joanna showing the cards, thank you I'm going over there right now!!
Myra, I still haven't got over the excitement of opening your parcel despite the grime boss! Don't fry Maureen please.
Pawprintsx4 I'm chuckling away at your comment. Thank you for the best laugh I've had all day. Must tell you about my cat and the bar of soap one day.
Love and hugs for all, Lorraine and Yvonne we miss you both.

A beautiful card Sue. I have used this die at a workshop but don't, as yet, own it. Thank you for this card. Have seen your new dies and really love the steam punk ones. I haven't caught up with the Christmas and latest launch yet. Oh dear don't think I will ever catch up. Thank you to Elaine, Myra, Maureen. Saba, Carmen, Donita, Crewe Trish, Fluffycat, for your congratulations for my granddaughter. Yes I am very proud of her. She is doing Figure Skating which I think has a lot more jumps etc to do. Looks harder to me. Pam I hope your pre op assessment went well. Elaine hope all goes well for Andrew and your hearing and eyes are a lot better now. Take care all and hugs to all who need them.

Beautiful card. Love to play with the pixie powders, but mine sure don't look like yours! Just need to keep working with them. Sure would love to look at this in person.

Super design. Love the pixie powder background.
Elaine H, good to hear that Andrew's rash is responding to the new cream.
Take care everyone.

Good morning all.
I really and truly shouldn't be reading all the comments when my removal to another house is so soon. How can I resist though when I feel that I'm with friends.
I love today'(sorry, yesterday's) card and thank you for sharing.
I think the date for my move is now less than 2 weeks away so I MUST NOT buy those pixie powders right now or they may not arrive in time.
Hope your hospital appointment went well Pam. I'm going for a brain MRI next week I hope they find one there that's not covered with crafty cards.
Positive thoughts to all that need them.
Marie P.

Hi Sue
Another beautiful card. Absolutely stunning such creativity . The colour scheme is so vibrant I love the way your Christmas cards are so different. This is a card you would never throw away but bring it out every year.

I really like the color combination you used with the pixie powders. The Midnight Blue gives such a great contrast to the Aqua Lagoon.

Hi Sue

I love the colours you have used, they give a real frosty tone. The snowflake borders are very pretty too. Another lovely card for someone to win.

With Best Wishes
