Christmas Double Day

Hi crafters! Two completely different cards using some of the same dies for today's double day.  For the first card I selected an aqua card background and embossed it with the Poinsettia Trellis embossing folder.  I added small white pearls to the centres of all the flowers on the embossed background (outside the focal element that is.)  Next I cut one of the Scalloped Snowflake frame and two Art Deco Snowflakes in white.  I cut a long strip of white card to create a faux buckle card.  It isn't actually woven between them, just made to look as if it is. I placed the strip over the top of the Scalloped snowflake die cut then under the Art Deco snowflakes at the edge.  I stamped my sentiment and covered it with a self adhesive sticky sheet.  I cut the inside of the Scalloped frame die in white and backed it in aqua card before cutting the centre of it out.  I added mounting foam, then peeled the backing off the sentiment and seated the frame over it.  I trimmed away the excess around it then sprinkled the Diamond Snow on it through the frame and attached it to the centre of the card with foam.  I added three small pearls on either side of the strip and completed the card by add white and aqua mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two was begun by embossing a piece of ruby red card with the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder.  I used red glitter kiss over the negative side of the embossed piece and grouted the design.  I allowed it to dry well then made a multi layered frame to go over the top of it using the Double Pierced Noble Squares (both A and B sets).  Before attaching the frame, I cut the Scalloped Snowflake two times in white and cut them down the centre.  I used each section to extend from the frame inward.  I cut two more Scalloped Snowflake Frames in white and offset them and attached them to the centre of the card.  I stamped the sentiment and used the inner cutting die from the set to create a frame for it out of Ruby red card.  This one was also covered and glittered in the same method as the above card,  White and red mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  Which do you prefer; the frosty aqua one or the bold red card?  All for now, Sue x

Wonderful two-fer Sue, they are stunning, love them both but no 2 just gets it for me.
Elaine, love Andrews positive attitude, what a man, no wonder you are so proud of your son.
Barbara , welcome to little Matilda Rose, love her name. Hope your daughter feels more rested today.
Maureen glad you all got home safely, hope George is feeling better.
Myra, Saba, please don't pay attention to the Anonymous comment, it's not worth it, no name and not a single word about Sue and her wonderful creations, says a lot. And there's nothing wrong with pensioners lol.
Donita, didn't work your laundry tip out but loved the baby giraffe story, lucky children.
Sam, lovely email from hotel, will you go 3 times, why not if you can.
Hope everyone has a lovely day, thinking of our poorly and missing friends, Rosemary, keep strong.

Good morning Sue. Two more incredible cards today, makes getting up on Friday 13th worth it! Love the aqua card but the red one is my favorite today, would love to know how you got your glitter kiss in the recess of the EF? I've followed your technique of paper grouting with texture paste but will have to give this a try too.
Echoing Pam's comments, hope that no-one takes notice of the nasty comment. Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Hello Sue.

Two beautiful cards today but which one is my favorite. The aqua and white one is more delicate whereas the red and white tends to be more bold. They are both equally stunning but I think my preference is the red and white. I believe the color makes it appear more festive.

Have a nice day.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, 2 amazing cards today, No 1 just edges it for me, when I first looked at it I thought you had used one of the weaving left over bits to make the strap on the buckle but on closer inspection you hadn't, that is an idea though (I wonder if Julia has thought of that).

Pam I reiterate all you have said. and I love the name Matilda Rose too.

Still doing my craft room, but have made good headway, I have gone through every box and stash I have, got loads of stuff to sell - might have to go onto one of those selling websites.

Off to see diabetic nurse this morning for the results of my blood test and also have my shingles injection, then popping down to Gillingham where a new Aldi's has opened up.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

I have to say I prefer to read comments about the cards not all the other irrelevant things to crafting, so now I just scroll down to put my comment in rather than look for other tips and inspiration from fellow crafters.

Thank you so much two beautiful cards.
Sue can I please ask if there is an embossing folder that
can make the hammered look for your card, it would be so handy as hammered card is more expesive.
Thank you Sue, maybe this could be a new idea.

Morning Sue. Wow. Since starting the festive twofer Fridays I've not been able to pick a favourite every sample has been absolutely gorgeous. I think it may have something to do with that the majority of new festive dies don't always look festive, but when you put together a 'true' festive card it says Christmas - hope you can make sence of that ? And yet again both samples are just really beautiful, albeit quite subtle there is something very special about the red glitter kids, I've not yet invested in any yet but sure I will when I find the confidence. One thing I really must stock up with are your beautiful embossing folders like your die collections I'm so behind !
Sending love, hugs, and a day of smiles and laughter xxx

Just looked back at yesterday's posting to see what had been happening something I don't normally do and I'm upset at what I've read too. Although I post early there have been days I'm late and do keep scrolling down to the comment box but it would be kinder if people kept unfriendly comments in their thoughts rather than feel they have to express how they feel, especially on such a lovely blog as this.

Dear Sue,

The red one wins easily with me, even though I'm not sure how grout can be used after the glitter kiss. Actually, not sure how grout can be used with an embossing folder. I bet I can search the archives for mention of grout, or google it.

Welcome to the world, little Matilda Rose! Barbara, do you think she'll get Tilly as a nickname?

Someone I interviewed this week gave her first name as Cookie. Finally I asked if her mother had named her that. She said no, her mother had named her Eunice. My first journalism teacher's first name was Homer, but the adults called him Chuck. (We called him Mr. Hall.) I know a Charles who doesn't want to be called Chuck, but I bet he would if his name was Homer.

Myra, I was going to say there is no need to apologize, but I also feel a little apologetic for doing something that offended someone. This is a caring community, and that's a rare thing, with many benefits. Probably the best thing that all of us can do is take what we like and leave the rest. Whatever seems like rubbish, or cowardliness, skip over it! People on this blog do seem to respond to the sample first, so if you're looking for craft talk only, that could help.

I'm always surprised, when I really don't like a die or a card, that lots of people do. Aren't our differences wonderful!? Watching you guys made me get a poinsettia die, and now I have red glitter kiss on the way.

Sam, they say three's the charm, but they also say absence makes the heart grow fonder. How can you tell which is better, unless you try them both? For what you could save on airfare, though, maybe you could go once and stay for half the year. P.S. Just thinking about that made me feel like I got upgraded to first class!

Sending love and gratitude to you all,

Donita

Morning Sue, two lovely cards today, I think the second one does have the lead for me.

So sad to read the nasty post yesterday. I too am a pensioner and quite a senior one, I find these remarks offensive. This us a wonderful blog and a life line to many people who for whatever reason are lonely, ill, or unhappy. If Sue is gracious enough to allow these posts then that is fine by me. I can't understand why some people think they can make offensive remarks whilst hiding behind their computer etc. You have an option, don't read it. I was brought up to believe if you can't say something nice. Then don't say anything at all.

Gosh that was a long post for me. But I was really upset by the comment. Unfortunately it seems to be the norm nowadays.

I hope everyone has a peaceful weekend.

Hello Sue,
I love both of these cards, the cool, elegant blue and white, and the hot, vibrant "sock it to 'em" red and white. My favourite? well I'd be delighted to receive either so can't choose.
Pam, I hope you are keeping well. Have a good, restive weekend.
Elaine, you must be immensely proud of Andrew.
Myra, don't be upset - you can't help being a pensioner - it's because you were born during the Boar War,
Saba, don't be upset - you'll be a pensioner some day - if you don't have too many shnapps!! Proust ha ha.
June S, hope your visit to the diabetic nurse is a success and enjoy Aldi!!
Barbara C, that's the right attitude. Just read what you want to read and ignore the waffle from some of us. We don't harm anyone or hurt animals.
Donita, how awful if we all liked the same thing. Walnut chocolate would be impossible to get. Now that would be a calamity!! I don't know any Homer's (I think there's one in The Simpsons, but I don't watch it) but we don't abbreviate Charles to Chuck, well not in my family, we abbreviate it to Charlie which is actually longer ha ha.
Barbara, Matilda is a wonderful name. My father's sister was Margaret Matilda and she was born in 1895, but it's a very old name, going back to the 800's, which I remember very well!! lol.
Love to all, even those who can't stand me, but hey ho I can live with that.
You will notice that I have not posted under Anonymous!

Lovely aqua faux buckle card. I always enjoy your buckle cards. When I scrolled down to the next card, my first impression was "WOW"! The red and white Glittered Kissed card is awesome and so impressive. Using the Glittered Kiss on the red is so striking. I don't think one can get an embossed design on regular glitter card. So adding the Glitter Kiss to the embossed layers gives such a wonderful look. Good job!

Pawprintx4 said...

I would chose the red one and I am like Donita, not quite sure about how the grout works....assume it seals the debossed glittered "craters" like tar over pot holes. I saw a reference to this technique somewhere and wasn't sure then either.Grout must be clear? Both cards are very clever and lovely.
Barbara, congrats on the new grand baby, Matilda.
Everyone, a Great & Lucky Friday (the 13th),

Two beautiful and delightful cards! I really love the first one because of the color. I love seeing non traditional colors on cards because it makes them stand out amongst the others. TFS!

I had to go back and read yesterday’s commotion causing Comment. I personally feel that life is too short to let someone who feels very brave behind the mask of anonymity to cause me any distress because if I do then they have gotten what they want.
The regulars here have the right to communicate with each other whether someone else likes or dislikes “pensioners”. Maybe they do not realize that one day THEY will be a pensioner too, if they are lucky enough to live that long. Hopefully they are just passing through and will keep on going to a place they are more comfortable being. That is what is wonderful about blogs, you are not required to read them and can unsubscribe if you are dissatisfied with what is posted there.
Hugs to those who were offended by the “brave” anonymous poster. If you pay them no mind then they might just go away sooner than later. Sort of like a 2 year old who doesn’t care if they get positive or negative attention as long as they are in the limelight. I say ignorance of them is bliss! 🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂

Oh dear. Sorry I am late. Thought I had commented but then realised I hadn't. Two lovely cards today Sue but I seem to be in the minority as I like the first one best. Lovely colour. Echoing Pam's comments.

Good morning Sue and all.
Both of these cards are beautiful and I couldn't choose between them. You are such an inspiration Sue and I look forwards to my visit with you every day. I was going to tell you all why I had such a terrible Friday the 13th. but I would hate to upset our anonymous 'friend' to whom I have a message. It is to hope that when you die, God will be more forgiving than you are!
Cheers
