For Someone So Special

Hello crafters!  This is the first sample that I have made with one of our new card colours called Petrol Blue, very pretty isn't it?  I started by cutting the decorative die from the Scarlet die set into the centre of the card.  I backed it with white card to show through.  Next I cut two of the Columba Gemini die in white.  I created a multi layered frame for the card using the Stitched Pegboard Frames out of coconut white card and Petrol Blue card.  I attached the two Columba dies to the edge of the frame so they were coming into the frame from each side of the card.  I cut the Victoria die and attached it across the centre of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the centre of the Scarlet die, then inked it lightly with Stormy Sky distress ink before attaching it in the centre of the Victoria die.  The card was completed with white and blue mats and layers.   White pearls were added as accents.   The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue,

A stunning use of several of your dies. I really like the effect that you have obtained. The new card color reminds me of the water in the Caribbean, a nice addition to color range.

Hope you have a nice beginning to your week.

Morning Sue. What a gorgeous shade of blue, consider me in as a petrol head, will be ordering a pack from my craft shop owner tomorrow when she opens. The design is beautiful with the lace border I'm lost for words to explain the beauty that starts my Monday. Due to high winds no market yesterday which is such a shame as I really enjoy it nerves and all, but as my baskets were out ready to be packed in the car it gave me the chance to look through properly to see how many of which occasions needed topping up. Yet again I found a few 'older glue' cards which are soo awful in every possible way they had to go and as was spoken about earlier in the week the disgusting smell that came from the cello bags when I opened them was awful. You have no idea just how mortified I am to think not only did I sell some of these in the past, but did I actually make some to order using the most useless and most smallest so called adhesive on the market ? I know there is absolutely nothing I can do about it now, but me being me I can't help feel so guilty, if only I knew then at the start of this enjoyable hobby what I know now about various adhesives I'd never have wasted my money or time on them let alone sell the useless so called 'keepsakes' my lovely 'keeper' keeps trying to tell me there is nothing I can do what's done is done, and it wasn't intentionally done, but I'm the kind of person that would write an apologetic statement expressing my lack of knowledge during the early days bla bla bla - but now they've all gone (although the smell lingers in my little craft room) maybe a time will come when I can stop beating myself up and try hard to put it to the back of my mind, unless someone approaches me some day at market and reminds me that a few years ago they bought a card and ......its fallen apart or it really smells bad ! If ive stopped a new crafter buying anything other than Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue or the mounting foam then my long post - even though it's all craft related (not meant in an offensive way) has been worthwhile in my opinion as this tale of guilt is a lesson learnt. Not only have I wasted lots of crafty bits and card, I've taken people's money for cards they thought would bring a smile to friends and family and to me that's not good, all down to lack of knowledge and bad quality adhesive ! I'm so cross at this company for pulling the wool over my eye's and other's that thought they were using the best. If it's NOT Cosmic Shimmer then it's no good at all !!
Sorry for this very long post Sue.
Sending love and hugs your way xxx

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a very lovely card today and the new petrol blue cardstock is beautiful, is this the only new colour foundation card coming out or is there any more please.

Pam, hope all is OK with you this morning.

Stephanie you do make me laugh but I totally agree with you about the cosmic shimmer glue, I too always use it.

Well the craft room is nearly finished, I should see everything put in it's place and labelled up by the end of today, then I have a box of nearly finished cards which I will be tackling as soon as I can.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxxx

Hope you are okay Pam, will check back later to see if you have checked in, lucky June, it is so much work sorting all your craft goodies but how lovely to be all fresh and new.

Hi Stephanie, did this glue start with P and end with R ( not sure I can advertise on here, hence the abbreviation. If so I had the same problem, my cards stunk, spoilt quite a lot of them. A lot of time and money wasted. I emailed the firm about this, but didn’t get an answer.

He'd chosen a lovely restaurant ,the Wensleydale Heifer, near to Leyburn and we had a fabulous meal. Our table was complete with Anniversary balloon, red rose and card - lovely idea and the owner came to talk to us to congratulate us. It was really quite romantic - totally unlike Dave!!

Could be. From a very big company up North seen frequently on tv. The un-opened blue tube I found yesterday went straight into the bin. I actually received a card that this product has been used on it was the most beautiful card but couldn't have the pleasure of having it on display as the pungent odour of the 3d gel glue just filled the room !! To think ive probably done the same to others saddens me beyond belief.

“Creative Expression Mounting Foam” (It Doesn’t Mention It But Sue You Always Use It Within Your Cards)
“Creative Expression Cosmic Shimmer Specialists Dries Clear Acrylic Glue” (Once Again Not Mentioned But You Always Use It)
“Creative Expression Self Adhesive White Pearls 3mm/5mm” (I Believe)
“Creative Expression Sentiment For Someone So Special”

Sue, What A Superb Collection Of Cutting Dies You’ve Put Together For Today’s Card, I Love The Stitching Around The
Pegboard Frame, Just Outstanding.
You Started Today’s Card By Taking A Piece Of The New Petrol Blue Card You Cut The Decorative Die From The Exquisite
Scarlet Die Set, Into The Centre Of The Card Then You Glued A Piece Of White Card To The Back, So The White Is Showing
Through, Next You Cut Two Of The Columba Gemini Dies In White Card.
Then You Created A Multi Layered Frame Using The Stitched Pegboard Frames Out Of White/Petrol Blue Card
You Added Mounting Foam To Your Frames, Then Attached The Two Columba Gemini Dies To The Edge Of Your Frame
So They Were Coming Into The Frame From Each Side.
Sue, You Then Cut Out The Impressive Victoria Die Out Of White Card, You Then Attached It Across The Centre Of Your Card
You Stamped Your Sentiment “For Someone So Special” Then Cut It Out Using The Centre Of The Scarlet Die, Then You Inked
It Lightly Using Tim Holtz Stormy Sky Distress Ink Pad” You Added Mounting Foam To The Back Then You Attached it
To The Centre Of The Victoria Die, Then You Added Your Famous/Signature/Piercing Also A Petrol Blue/White Mat/Layer
Plus You Added White Pearls As Accents (Also Using A Touch Of Glue As We’ve Seen You Do Many Times, It Looks like
3mm/5mm Pearls Were Used.

Petrol is such a lovely color! Your card is striking and would definitely be a keeper if it was sent to me! Sadly, too many handmade card recipients don’t realize how much time, effort and LOVE goes into each card we make and just toss them into the trash with the wrapping paper and envelopes! When that happens I try to keep the smile on my face and not go take it out of the garbage. If I did that many would say l am quite daft!
Thanks for sharing this beauty today!

Hi Sue,

What a beautiful card! Love all die sets you used; so lacy, elegant and feminine and work beautifully together. The pearls really finish off the card. I cannot imagine this card without the pearls, to be honest.
Love the sentiment … we all are so special for some people that we have in our lives and you, Sue, are special for us all.

Pam – Glad that you are Ok.
Beverly - Belated Birthday greetings to you. I hope you had a lovely day.
Alison - happy anniversary!
Stephanie K. – Check Ecstasy Crafts site, they might have CE glue.
PP & Laine - Where are you? You both missed my big round b-day! I am not happy about that:) Seriously, I really hope you are OK and come back soon. You are missed by so many of us.

Stephanie, Latenight SandyH , Crewe Trish, Lynne L, Frances, Izzy, CraftySuetoo, Elaine, Pat L, Helen Bell, Donita, Pam, Maria (I apologize if i miss some names)– Thank you so much ladies, for your wishes. I had an amazing day yesterday: presents (including a Spellbinders Platinum Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. My hubby was trying to convince me to choose a Gemini but, I am still a newbie, I don’t sell cards so … one day maybe.) and lots of phone calls from all my family and high school friends from back home. We spent all day outside by the lake, enjoying the sunny day (25 degrees), went for a short visit to see our son (he’s busy with midterm exams this week, interviews etc.) and having dinner to a nice restaurant. My boss gave me a gift on Friday, she wanted to be the first one! Today I got gifts from some of my coworkers and for sure more will come. Our son is coming home this weekend and we plan to go out for dinner and have the cake and champagne at home. Talking about presents, I got a new pair of red shoes … I know this is one of favorite subjects to talk about, for our friends Saba & Laine. As Donita said, the big round b-days should be celebrated all year so yes, so my celebration continues because I am so special for some people:)

Hugs to you all,
Still a newbie to Craft / not longer the newest, or the only Canadian Wilsonette
