Christmas Double Day

Hi crafters!  It is time for another Christmas double day but first I would like to give a shameless plug the One Day Special on Hochanda I am doing which begins tonight at 6pm and a second show at 8pm.  I will be showcasing the Hexagons as one bundle and the tool box and barbeque dies in another (with a few other dies on the show as well).  The first card is a lovely navy blue and white one showcasing the Frosty Frame and Garland Edger.  I started by cutting a Frosty Frame aperture in the upper portion of the card.  I used one of the decorative dies from the Garland Edger to cut a double wide border into the lower portion of the card.   I backed the border area with white card, then added mounting foam on the back to raise it.  I attached it over another piece of coconut white card with a sticky adhesive sheet attached.  I cut another Frosty Frame in white and recessed in down into the aperture on to the sticky adhesive sheet, then sprinkled the remaining adhesive are with Diamond Sprinkles. I cut the inside of the Frosty frame rectangle out of blue and added it to the centre of the die.   I cut the Tidings Of Comfort die twice and stacked them and glued them into place on the blue rectangle, adding two small snowflakes from the Lace Snowflake set.  I made two flowers from the Classic Poinsettia and sugared the edges of the petals then seated them on a white satin bow.  The card was completed with white on white mats.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is a silver on silver number.  I cut Twinkle Star Background in Silver pearl card.  I backed it with Silver mirror card.  I cut a multi layered frame out of coconut white and silver pearl card and added it with foam over the background.  For the focal element, I cut the Scalloped Snowflake frame in silver pearl card, cutting the centre of it out.  I cut the centre decorative piece in white and added it behind the snowflake.  Next I cut a thin border out of silver mirror card using the outer cutting edges from the Scalloped Snowflake frame and the Art Deco snowflake frame dies and glued it to the edge.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the centre of the Lace Snowflake frame and added it with foam to the centre.  White and silver mats and layers were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Elaine, well done you, you organised, they came, ate your cakes and contributed, you conquered. What a star you are.
Hope Andrew is well, is Helen home.
Rosemary, what a horrible day you had. Hope you have rested since.
Diane, good call to choose daughters 21st, that would be a difficult one to explain otherwise . You will be there in spirit, gin, vodka, whatever. Sorry to hear that Norah will be missing , I really hope she can come back to the blog soon, I miss her heartening banter.
Ann, hope you have your flight sorted for tomorrow, safe journey home.
My daughter and SIL finally have sunshine in Mexico, hooray.
I was at hospital yesterday, they are going to operate so waiting for a date, hopefully not too long. See how well that goes down at work. Talking about Work, I won £50 on the Social Club raffle, woohoo, 5 brand new notes, made my day.
Donita, I'd love to hear you say Hecky Thump in your accent, wonderful.
Carmen, Hope you are feeling better.
Daily hugs and good wishes to all especially our poorly and missing friends.

Happy Friday Sue. What an absolutely beautiful stunning sample to start today's post with. The elegance of dark blue and white, the design is just perfect, I just have to have the garland edger and frosty frame, saying that, unlike the extremely talented Beverly Fuchs (above) I couldn't make anything as beautiful as this.
The silver sample is pretty, and twinkle star background is beautiful, again, you can use both dies all year round now that can't be bad ☺
Really REALLY looking forward to your shows Sue and will be filling up more space (which is getting critical) in our little black box to keep as extra inspiration and to enjoy over and over again 😊
Sending love and hugs your way Sue xx

Gorgeous cards today. I think I prefer the navy because it stands out so well but both are great. Not sure what happened to yesterday's comment, it seems to have disappeared but I loved that too. I really must start my Christmas cards but we are going away again on Sunday until Wednesday so it isn't going to be anytime soon. I have some ideas on what I'm doing though so that helps.

Dear Sue and Fellow Followers,

The first card wins by a mile, but that's mainly because I don't have any of the other dies. The Frosty Frame gets me every time. Also I'm getting to mind Poinsettias less. These are nice in white. It looks to me like everyone in the UK gives them a mountain fold in the middle, but I would do a valley. Is that an optical illusion, or a phenomenon like the swirl around the drain being one way in the northern hemisphere and the opposite way in the southern?

Veecee, you must be new. Welcome to the family! Your question about where to obtain materials depends on where you live. And by materials, do you mean what Sue mentions besides her dies? Unless you live in the UK, you'll probably have to order online. Johanna Sheen has lots. If you watch Hochanda this weekend, they usually offer supplies that work well with the dies they're selling. We don't get Hochanda in the U.S., of course, but everybody can watch it on the computer.

Saba, Aye up sounds like what they say in Maine. I don't get cricket either. Only recently got it separated in my mind from croquet.

Maureen Killen, I must have looked away when your niece went by. I'm getting that impression that your gang of seven meets for comedy workshops.

Rosemary, what a terrible day medically but what a wonderful job you did describing it. Did you have to jettison your walking stick to go home on crutches? Yowser. Better days ahead. If that happened to me, I'd stay in bed Friday.

Rose in Chester, it's funny you think of the Atlantic Ocean background as a he. I think of it as a she. Pacific is definitely a he, though. .

Congratulations, Elaine, on winning the day with Best Homemade Cakes and Most Philanthropic Cakes.

Pam, well done on the raffle! Which dies are you getting? Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't have an accent. Hahaha! I'm sure we'd all giggle if we heard each other speak.

Friday Double Day always surprises me, just as Monday surprises me for coming around too soon. However, this is a three-day weekend. I'm among those who wishes it was called Indigenous Peoples Day.

Love to you all,

June Smith said...

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, 2 lovely cards today, I am not going to choose between them as they are both equal, looking forward to seeing you on tonight's shows.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue
Double delight Friday, don't they coma round fast! It's a real treat on a Friday to open up the blog and see two beautiful cards. Love them both but I think no1 has the edge for me today. I think it's the poinsettias, after making some yesterday they are calling to me! Thank you for the gentle reminder, I had my email from hochanda last night and saw the suprise so today I will program the magic box. Hope you have a safe journey to Peterborough.
Love Diane G xxx

Morning Sue,

Oh my...I love your double days and this mornings cards were delightful. Two equally gorgeous creations for Christmas, I cannot decide which one is best.

Donita... the rules for cricket are quite simple???
As explained to me years ago... The players decide how many overs are to be played for each game. The team that is 'in' has to score as many runs as possible with 3 balls per over. The team that is 'out' has to try to get the team that is 'in'.. out. Then they stop for tea and cakes, made and served in the clubhouse by the bored wives, after which they restart the game with the team that was 'out'...'in' and the team that was 'in' is now 'out' and the 'out' team now have to try to get the team that is 'in'..'out'. At the end with the all the overs played...the team with the most runs wins. Simples.
But if you can understand all that, then you must be a genius.

Love 7 hugs

Hi Sue,

Loving the Christmas Double Days and here are two more inspirational designs to get us started with the festive card-making...really falling for that Frsoty Frame as featured in the first sample but also love the bold framing on the second and the two-tone silvers...just about to set the recorder box for you shows tonight and tomorrow

Elaine - well done with the fund-raising - a very respectable amount and it all helps a very worthwhile cause...shame no-one else baked any cakes though but at least that meant that your creations had centre

Pam - well done on your win - it shows that every cloud does have a silver lining - hope they don't keep you waiting too long for the operation and then you can put it all behind you

Veecee - welcome to this wonderful blog..why not try Joanna Sheen for your die supplies, very good prices, speedy despatch and great service too...

Donita - I think you'd be amazed at the sheer number of regional accents over here - and all jostling together on one teeny tiny island...but we have great fun trying to understand what each one of us is

Pat L, I hope Sarah is enjoying herself and is well. Enjoy your flower arranging event tomorrow.
Fluffycat, I was one of the wives who did the teas that Cheryl referred to, and it was 6 balls an over when George played. Well, I say played very loosely, as sometimes he was out for a duck ha ha.
Ann, good to read that your flight is sorted, you can relax now.

Hello Sue,
Absolutely gorgeous Christmas double day today. My favourite is the navy and white one, it just looks so wintery with its frosty frame and the poinsettias done in white are just stunning. I'm about to watch you on catch-up, I'm dying to see your hexagon samples. Hope you have a massive sellout.

Pam I hope you don't have long to wait for your op and this time you don't get any hassle from your manager.
Donita what are you like, cricket doesn't have the slightest resemblance with croquet. My son in law played at international level and my grandson now plays for the Yorkshire juniors so I've watched many a match.
Elaine hope the antibiotics help Andrew to feel more comfortable. By heck lass he's been throut' Mill. Diane is going to Skype us when we are away so we can all raise a glass to her, mind you seeing as most are t- total it'll only be me Myra and Jess with the real stuff, and Diane of course. As for Maureen speaking Queens English, well that's a laugh.
Veecee welcome to the best blog going hope you'll be a regular visitor.
Chery, Frances is correct, it's six ball per over but loved your explanation of cricket.
Carmen, happy holidays, look forward to hearing all about it.

Hello Sue,
Two beautiful cards! Choosing a favourite - almost impossible . I do love the first one though and I have the Frosty Frame! It’s gorgeous!
Can’t watch you Live on telly but IPad will suffice! Thanks to Brenda( Littlelamb) for reminding me! She is very good at keeping me in line! Somebody has to try!!
Will watch the 6pm Show later!
Yes Cheryl as no doubt you knew there are definitely six balls in an over! Whoever wrote that explanation was Fielding at Silly Mid-on!! Ha ha! I knew Frances would notice - my cricketing buddy!!
Even Saba noticed!
I shall hide all cricket bats on Tuesday! My head is bad enough already!
I’ve done cricket teas too but for sons at school ! It was fun though!
Ann - great news you have your Flight home settled! Safe travel!
Carmen - have a lovely holiday and relax!
To all those in pain - thinking of you! Sending hugs/ cuddles! Lol!
Lots of love,
Myra ( Friend of Maureen) xxx

Hi Sue. Oh WOW !!! Two gorgeous Christmas cards !!! I really love them both. They are stunning. I love all the dies you have used and the colour combinations to. If I had to choose a favourite between the two it would be the first card. I just think it is so beautiful Sue !!! The snowflake frame is so dainty and elegant. Such a gorgeous design. I really do love your Garland Edger dies to. So beautiful and so versatile in design that they can be used all year round and not just at Christmas time. Thanks for sharing. x x x
I watched your two shows this evening on Hochanda and they were fab !!! You looked amazing Sue, as you always do. I fell in love with all your card samples from both your Hexagon die sets and your necessity die sets. I am hoping to collect them all eventually. Thank you for two fab shows. I am recording all of your show tomorrow, and can't wait to see them. The cards you made on tv this evening were all beautiful. Thank you for everything you do, for all your hard work. Sending you lots of love Sue from Tres x x x

Sending everyone lots of love from Tres x x x

Both of these are glorious, unconventional Christmas cards. I have no favorite, both are great in their own right. The lucky winners will be very happy with either.
Have a wonderful weekend....I enjoyed Sue on Hochanda. Beautiful cards and looks like you had fun with that BBQ set.

Two more beautiful cards Sue.
I do try to read all the comments every day but my poor eyesight doesn't always let me read them in one sitting. Today I had to choose between reading the blog and reading a posting from my solicitor which will no doubt have a bill attached. I bet you can guess which I chose.

Love to all.

Life, to me, is like fishing: you won’t catch anything until you start, and every year you get older is another year the fish might slip through the net.
