Christmas Double Day

Hello crafters!  Two completely different cards today, both from my Christmas Hochanda shows.  First up is a navy blue and white card (I know it does look black but it is really blue).  I demoed this one but if you missed the shows, here's a quick rundown.  I started by cutting the Frosty Frame out of Navy Blue card and using the inner cutting die to create a frame.  I added a very thin bit of mounting foam around the solid edge to raise it.  I used the Lattice Ribbon die and cut it out of coconut white card twice extended it to create the background for the frame.  I attached it to a piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet on it and then glittered the exposed adhesive with Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz.  I attached the Frosty frame then trimmed away the excess card from the background.  Next I create a thin framed area for it to sit inside by partially cutting the inside frame from the Gingerbread man.  I moved the frame along, extending it by slotting it back in at a further point.  This is easily done if you just leave the top cutting plate off of the original cut area, only to cut the new extended area.  I backed it with Navy blue card to show through the design, then added a double sided tape border around the edge which I sprinkled more white Glitterbitz on.  I seated the Frosty Frame in the centre of it.  .  I cut the tag from the Frosty Frame set in navy blue card then seated the Tis the season in white in the centre.  The card was completed with white and Navy Blue card mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two also uses the frame form the Gingerbread man die set, but in a different way.  I started this one by using the Nordic Christmas mask on a piece of coconut white card.  I used the Frosted Sparkle Glitter Kiss through the mask and allowed it to dry thoroughly.  Once dry, I cut the frame in white and added a ruby red card backing to it to show through the design and attached it over the mask, trimming away the excess card.  I added this to a larger piece of white card and cut four of the Snowflake Corners and Flourish dies in white and glued them into place around the corner edges.  I cut a gingerbread man in tan card, inked through the die with Worn Lipstick for her tummy and cheeks and added red buttons and bow.  I used a regular pencil to add in her eyes and I added a white pencil icing line to the arms and legs and a candy cane in her hand.  I cut the sentiment in red and added both of them to the inside of the frame.  White and red mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4"  x  8 1/4" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed both of the double day offerings and have gained a bit of inspiration for your own cards.  All for now, Sue x

It's Friday and that means a two-fer. Gorgeous Sue love them both so different but equally beautiful.
Elaine, hope Andrew us doing well after his marathon treatment day.
Rosemary hooe you are feeling better, we miss you.
Frances my brother lives in Newfields, New Hamoshire, it is beautiful especially in the Fall. I think Moose are indigenous to Nirth America, I have never been lucky enough to see one but my brother says they are quite often on the roads and you just have to wait until they move.
Rosemarie, missing you too, hope all is okay.
The twins are home yay, they brought me a mug from the Statue of Liberty visit, a articulated teddy key ring from the Emoire State Building and some Hersey chocolate kisses yum yum. They had are a really good time, visited lots of places, met Will I Am, one if the Voice judges, he was chatting to them for a while. They were very tired yesterday afternoon but glad to be home. Ryan seems to have turned into a young man during this time.
Maureen/Sandy, why no to Statins? I wasn't sure but the nurse said to try them and see if they help get me through the pre assessment for the op.
Basket of hugs, help yourself, Soecial ones for missing and poorly friends.

Morning Sue. Black purple green or blue, it makes no difference it's such a pretty die and you've show cased it beautifully it's a sample I'll never get tired of looking at so thank you for sharing again.
Is there any child that doesn't love a gingerbread man/lady, there are so many ways to decorate them as an activity it's wonderful to see them show their imagination so not only have you given us the tools to give our cards with these happy smiling faces to those we share the festivities with, but look at the amount of happiness fun and laughter you are helping to spread all round the globe, that alone should make you smile Sue, all your little gingerbread peeps giving people joy in many many countries, so for the fun and happiness the gingerbread die will bring not only on cards but for the imagination you've bought with our future decorating and dressing these little guys I have to say sample 2 is special. But sample 1 gets my vote as I just adore those dies no matter which colour they are cut from.
Will send you my usual hugs, and hope your day is full of love and happiness xxx

Dear Sue and Inspired Ones,

Frosty Frames will get my vote every time, unless you put them up against the other Frame sisters, Noelle and Holly Lattice.
Making a frame from the barber pole trim on the Gingerbreads' house is so clever! You really got it going on!

Yes, Fluffycat, I did get your wardrobe reference. As in, Lion and Witch and.

Speaking of magical, welcome back, Princess Pixie! I hope you are now entering a long period of feeling well.

Here's another big basket of hugs to go with the one Pam put out. Take two! Take three! Take several and pass them around.

Love,

Morning Sue,

I love Friday twofers though I can never make my mind up which one would be a favourite but this week I would have to say No.1 wins. The gingerbread man card would appeal to many youngsters, his cheeky grin says it all.

Saw your comment re statins Pam. My beloved Pete was put on these and he had the most terrible contradictions with pains shooting up from his feet to his buttocks and thigh pain like he had never experienced before, he said he felt like he was walking on glass all the time. It is cheap medicine (only pennies a packet) for doctors to prescribe to cover a myriad of complaints yet his consultant who he saw from a reference by his doctor said he needed to be investigated for a vascular disorder. They had already tried him with Simvastatin 4 years previously when he reported exactly the same symptoms then and refused to take them. The pains stopped within a couple of days. This time they said the pains were due to his gout...which was in his big toe!

Gentle healing hugs and prayers for all our poorly blog friends.

Love 7 hugs

Good Morning Sue. Two beautiful cards this morning Sue, so beautiful I can't decide which one I like the best. They both have their own different charisma.
Pam glad your family is back safe and sound. The little gifts they have bought you will mean so very much.
I remember when my sons were children they bought their grandma ( my Mum ) a little old fashioned granny ornament from their holiday in Filey
It reads on the bottom "Worlds Best Grandma" She absolutely loved it. She passed away 41years ago she was very young. That little ornament now sits on my bedside cabinet and has done since she passed on. And can you believe it....they still remember buying it for her. Ahhh wonderful memories. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

Hello Sue,
Two very different cards today, both of which are just right for different people. The first for my daughter and son in law, the second for my two granddaughters so you've sorted out my family very nicely! Thank you ha ha.
Pam, how lovely of the twins to bring you back such apt presents from their holiday. You can think of them every time you use the mug and the key ring, unfortunately the Hershey Bar won't hang around as long as them ha ha. Did they get Will I Am's autograph? I was given Statins (which were originally tested on males but not on females!) for four nights and was woken every night with terrible cramps in the whole of my legs. A thing I never suffered with before. I've had an angiogram which shows my arteries are completely clear so I thought "blow that" (or words to that effect ha ha) and haven't taken them since. It could be just me, but reading about Cheryl's husband confirms it's not.
PP, lovely to see you but sorry that you've been poorly. Hope you are back to full speed soon, and when you go out make sure you walk on June's red carpet.
Dawn hope that cold goes away soon, pleased that your dog is improving, and welcome back!
love to all

Hi Sue, two contrasting cards but both equally lovely. I love the first one being cut in blue rather than black, that suits me perfectly and I love the gingerbread person on the second one, also the way you created the frame on both of them! I can't choose today as each one is suitable for different people.

Pam - glad the twins had such a good time and thought to bring you mementoes. Lucky you having seen a New England fall, something I would have loved to do.
Princess Pixie - yay you are back! Hope you are up to full strength again soon but if you do walk on June's red carpet please be careful not to trip up :-)
Dawn - Paws crossed that your fur baby continues to improve (they are such a worry, aren't they) and that your rotten cold goes away very soon.

Sorry if I have missed anyone but must dash, the oven timer is calling me.

Just had a thought whilst reading through some comments....do any of you save these cards to Pinterest? I love it and use it a lot so I can reference ideas I've seen which I want to revisit.

I was thinking of Sam Smithard who takes - surely a whole lot of - time to itemise everything Sue does and uses, using Pinterest means you don't have to do this as you can just pop back to the original post and get all the details again.

Just trying to save you some time - all the more for going crafting :)

The second card with the Gingerbread lady is cute but the first one using the Frosty Frame is my favourite. Love the navy and white (may sound strange coming from someone who doesn't like using black on cards).

Princess Pixie, good to see you back here. Sorry you've been so poorly.
Pam, lovely for you having the twins back, sounds as if they've made some super memories. Having read the contraindications of statins I didn't want to take the chance of the sort of experiences Cheryl's Pete and Maureen had. I have enough problems with my legs already. Daily porridge and a cholesterol-busting drink have helped get my cholesterol level down by 1.5 so I'm almost half-way there.
Take care everyone.

I spent all morning yesterday (Friday) packing up my card making stuff and e-mailing my new address to all and sundry,Early afternoon I phoned the lady who lives in the house I bought to find out what time on Tuesday she would be vacating the property. She had not been told by anyone that Tuesday was closing day!! I felt almost as sorry for her as I do for myself. I guess I may end up homeless as my buyers are eager to move in here.
Sorry for whining on this lovely blog.

loving both of these cards, I think my favourite is the first one. I am trying to get some Christmas cards done but it seems to be taking me ages!

Hi Sue

Two really great cards very difficult to choose a favourite but I think I'm edging towards the first as the navy gives it a very clean and classic look. I love the stencil and the frame in the second one though, both are giving great inspiration, thank you Sue
