Christmas Double Day

Hello all!  We are getting closer and closer to Christmas now, have you finished all your cards yet?  Here are a couple of more for some ideas if you like.  The first one was started by cutting the Lace Snowflake Frame out of a piece of coconut white card randomly all over the background.  I attached it to a piece of sticky adhesive sheet, then added another piece of white card behind.  I repositioned the cut out snowflakes back into their slots, then where the fallaway pieces were from the die cut, I sprinkled Diamond Snow over them to fill in the adhesive areas.  I made a multi layered frame from the Double Pierced Noble Squares using white and aqua card and attached it over the background.  Next I cut two more of the Lace Snowflake die out of aqua card and offset them and attached them in the centre of the frame with foam.  I stamped a sentiment then covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I created a frame from the centre dies in the Lace Snowflake and added it with foam over the sticky sheet on the sentiment.  I sprinkled Diamond Snow over the inside of the frame and attached it in the centre of the snowflakes.  I cut several small snowflakes in white and added them to the outer frame of the card in opposite corners.  White and aqua mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two started with a Pixie Powder background using Midnight Blue and Purple Violet.  I built up the colour by adding more powder until the colour was quite intense.  I cut the Icicle border from the Snowflake Edger die set and extended it, then added glue and Iced Snow along the entire length.  I glued it to the top edge of the card.  I stamped my sentiment directly on the background in Black Archival ink.  I cut the outer and inner cutting dies from the Scalloped Snowflake Frame to create a frame for the Art Deco Snowflake that I attached to the top of it, adding a large pearl to the centre.  I cut two of the Holly Swirls and white and added them in opposite corners coming from the focal element.  White on white mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Hope these give you a bit of inspiration!  All for now, Sue x

Two beautiful cards Sue, loving the two-fers. Both gorgeous but no 2 for me, the pixies win it again.
My Wednesday card arrived today, thank you so much. It is even lovelier in real life. The house feels like an Ice Palace, it is totally gorgeous, love it.
Elaine, such sad news about Mary, I hope they can do something fir her. You have so much to deal with at the moment, you are a treasure.
Love to Andrew, hope he is still improving.
June so glad your knee is good, if you had the other one done you could run the marathon.
Pauline, I'm whispering in case you have a hangover, hope it went well., if you can remember anything .
Oh Saba, what have you let yourself in for, I'm no IT techie, wouldn't know where to start. Good luck. By the way, what is BlueTooth, lol, just kidding.
Doreen, I wish you were my GP receptionist. There are 3, all bad but at the other surgery over the other side of town they are lovely, just so far away, same doctors so it can't be what the doctors say.
Hospital today for required blood test, my appointment on Halloween us fir anaesthetist, so he won't be a Dracula.
Ann hooe your buffet went well, Sabas Brazilian, ouch., sheer torture.
Daily hugs to all, poorly and missing friends too.

Morning Sue. The 'C' word is still banned here I'm afraid but 'my keeper' has no need to ask the gift question as he has a list longer than a 12 pack Andrex !! Lol and I still have enough C cards left over from last year and no special cards to be made so I suppose you could say I'm sorted, that means no last minute panic like last year's market panic lol. Your first sample is just adorable, the colour and design is just gorgeous so that is my number 1 today. The second is gorgeous too but any card that has Aqua and white will always be a favourite I just love that combo.
Love and hugs on their way and hope your Friday is a happy one xxx

Dear Sue and Persons of Paper Interest,

The blue card gets my vote. Those of us who struggle with Pixie Powders must be using it too sparingly. Thanks for telling us you laid it on thick, and again, for naming the colors. I had to look up how many kinds of snowflakes were in the last launch, not counting the edgers etc. Four: scalloped, looped, lace and art deco. I'm guessing the free-standing snowflakes came from the centers of lace and loope.

Saba, it's so funny your husband has the confidence to order a new computer without any idea what he's doing. I didn't know people in Germany said "Doh!" They probably named it Bluetooth just so everybody would have to ask what the heck that means. This week I had to learn about Bambi Buckets. That's a brand name, too, for the contraption under a helicopter that can scoop up water and drop it on a forest fire.

Anne from Northampton, cute story about your little knitted monkey. I bet it's not so cute when he tells it.

Stephanie K, if he bought you a new potato masher, we really don't want to know what he did with the old one!

Glad you're feeling better, Denise T.

My ideas for Christmas cards aren't working as well as I had imagined. If all else fails, I'll cut Tahiti out of some luscious red stardream card, stick it to a white A2 card and put a white Joy in the middle. Maybe I'll stack more than one Joy, or make it sparkly. Almost feels wrong, to have only two elements. But it does look good. The Tahiti shape evokes a gas streetlight and you can almost hear the carolers.

The photographers at work make their own Christmas cards, and I think they try to outdo each other. Also, they have families and friends with high expectations. One of them told me it's amazing what you learn about streamlining when you have to make 100 to 200 cards.

Weekend huggles to all.

Hi Sue,
Two beautiful cards for our delight today. Love them both but that Pixie Powder background wins for me. I'm starting to get the hang of using these now and had a session making some and was quite pleased with the results - they are even good enough to use!!! As for my Christmas cards - I've made 20 so far ( only 100 to go!). I went to a Groovi class last Sunday and started a card there which I've now finished for my Sister and brother in law so that's one special card done too. I've had loads of birthdays this month and next month too so that's put me behind on the Christmas cards. Sending love and hugs to everyone, Alison xxx

Our Brazilian meal experience was lovely. So much food and the staff were so attentive. Tho only thing was we came away absolutely stuffed..... it was too cold and rainy to walk it off so we just came home and collapsed in the chair. I would highly recommend it though. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds

Hi Sue, I love your Friday Christmas cards, but am finding it difficult choosing a favourite as they're both lovely. Aqua is one of my favourite colours and the snowflake die is beautiful. But, the background of the second one really makes the details stand out. I have started my Christmas cards as I need to leave at least 10 down here before I leave for the UK next month and am proud to say that I have put together a couple of poinsettias together. Only need another 58 as I need 6 for each wreath.

Thanks for whispering Pam. Yes the wine tasting went very well. In fact I gave up after sampling 4 out of the 6 wineries as a girl can only take so much.

Hi Sue,

Christmas double day, double samples, double inspiration, double kindness from you Sue, for sharing these with us. Love this “double” days.

Thumbs up to all who have finished their Christmas cards. I am out of this “competition” since I have not started my Christmas cards yet. But … I decided long time ago what die set I will use for my X-mas cards. It’s a start, right? Please don’t forget I am still a newbie … On the other hand, I don’t plan to make too many. I spoiled my ladies’ coworkers this year making for each of them a b-day card, each different and specific for the person (I still have 4 to make) so for this Christmas everyone will get a decoration that I made many months ago and a card from my collection (I always have some cards, from the store of course). The plan for next year is to use all my dies collection, no more specific theme for each person for their b-days, but I will make X-mas cards for everybody. The plan might change, right :)

Have a great day everyone.

Hello Sue,
Two equally stunning cards, If I had to choose, it would be the second one for me, made me say wow when I scrolled down, but both are lovely. I need all the inspiration I can get. I've made the sum total of 3 so far!

I'm going to have to echo Pam this evening, I'm bushed! Spent the day getting everything ship shape and Bristol fashion in preparation for the family arriving tomorrow and I can't wait. It's going to be a fun filled week, Lego land, playmobile and the zoo are on the agenda.
Carmen it's a good plan but if you're anything like me - the best laid plans of men and mice!
Elaine I think I counted to about a thousand but compared to what you have on your plate my worries pale into insignificance. You are a star and I wish I could ease your pain.
Donita I'm not German thank the Lord so Doh! Is in my vocabulary.
Today, Hubby was asked to go and buy a large fresh chicken for Sunday dinner, I even wrote it down for him - in German- he came back with a duck! I despair.
Love and hugs for all

I think I could do with a hug if anyone has one to give.
Love to all.
