Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there my crafty friends!  This is one of my favourite Forest Animal cards and I thought it would make a lovely Wednesday card giveaway (I hope you do too!).  I started by cutting the Birch Tree Background out of milk card.   I extended the background to create a larger forest area. I did three of these exactly the same way.  Next, I inked all three of the backgrounds with Antique Linen distress ink to add some depth.  I left one background exactly as I cut it, but I cut a few of the trees out of the centre of the second one then attached it slightly offset over the full background.  On the third background, I cut away more of the centre trees, then added it with foam over the other two but slightly offset as well.  This created the illusion of a full forest.  I cut a piece of black card as a background for the forest and a large white circle for a moon. I glittered the moon and glued it into place before attaching the piece behind the birch forest.  Next, from the Forest Animal die set,  I cut the make deer, the fox, the log, the hedgehog and the small flying bird out of tan card and used the matching stamps called Forest Life inked in black to add detail to each of them.  I inked them lightly with tea dye and highlighted them with a soft white pencil then inserted them into the forest area with mounting foam.  I used the Double Pierced Rectangles to add a black frame around the entire piece.  Milk and black mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" " x  9 1/4" in size.  Please leave a comment if you would like to be entered into the drawing to win this one.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now,
Sue x

Loved Julia's shows on Hochanda, she is such a lovely person and tremendous crafter, she dies your dies proud.
Donita, loved your wifi cards, you have such a way with words.
Elaine, I hooe Andrew was able to gave his treatment, I know how worried you are about him.
Carmen, the birthday goes on. Lovely gift from your coworkers, craft voucher, woohoo. Glad you liked your new name.
June, have to say well done, you set your mind to something and hey presto you do it. Glad you found the nails die. I've lost a couple of little ones from sets but not since I got my Spellbinders magnet diamond.
Tracey your tray idea with magnetic sheet sounds a winner as you can get so much more on the sheet, will try that.
I thought the twins were back today but it's tomorrow, not long to wait now.
Back to see nurse today for BP check, hope it has returned to normal and I will mention headaches.
Daily hugs to all. Thinking of our poorly and missing peeps.

Hello Sue,

I absolutely love this card. It especially reminds me of Fall nights on my Father's farm when all the woodland creatures would come out of the woods to eat. Over the years, I cannot tell you how many hours I spent watching them. My favorite then and on your card is the little fox. I've always had a fondness for them since my last name translates to "fox" in English.

Thank you for sharing this card today as it brought back so many wonderful memories.

Have a nice day.

Great card for the giveaway just like an enchanted forest. Someone will be very happy to receive this card.
Eventually started my Christmas cards. Only one made up to check it worked for me okay, but lots of pieces cut out ready. Still have a few birthday cards to make, a couple of get well cards for friends having surgery over the next few days and then it’s my wedding anniversary so plenty for me to do.
Hope everyone has the best day possible.
Crafty hugs,

Oh Sue, this is just beautiful, so magical but serene
at the same time. Nothing more heart warming than spotting wild life roaming within the forest trees that hold their secret lives, this is the very reason we love to stop in the country when we go away or on a working farm set right in the middle of nowhere. Your imagination has caught the secrecy and life of these gorgeous little animals, what a good job you make several of the same samples as I doubt we'd be lucky enough to see this on a Wednesday giveaway, it must be on your list of favourite samples, talking of which I'm intrigued by your comment regarding your most favourite sample made one Christmas day. I'm re-running the 'early days' of your demo's, some pre HOCHANDA days and some live from AP so I'm not sure when it was you mentioned this, obviously demo'ing festive dies, but as soon as I heard you talk about retreating into your craft room when your guys are altogether watching some noisy film one Christmas day it got me wondering which sample it was, I know you said it was on here, maybe sometime you could refresh my/our mind of your most favourite sample.
Whoever is drawn to receive this beautiful magical sample will need to count their lucky stars as it really is a working of art.
Sending love and hugs and hope you enjoy your day xxx

Dear Sue and Faithful Commenters,

Thanks for all the tips about working with the birch trees. One of my Christmas card ideas is a single width of the trees with red birds sitting in them and snow behind. But after seeing this, maybe I need another layer of birch. The lengths you go for dimension and realism!

And I bet that shimmering moon takes the winner’s breath away!

Maureen you are just too funny. And some of the rest of you. A couple of good star puns yesterday.

Now we have intercontinental virtual cards and gifts! Carmen, I can’t believe you wear a size 5 shoe. Is that a metric 5?

Thanks for the compliments on my imaginary card. I do my best work in that medium.

Once I found a missing die in my shoe after I got home. Are the nails the smallest die that Sue has produced?

If I bump into your niece, Maureen, I’ll be sure to tell you.

Not to get too far off topic, but check out my Facebook page for the picture taken by the photographer who is working on a Halloween story with me, about people who go all out decorating their house.

As one of the homeowners said,
Hope to scare you soon!

Love
Donita

Good Morning Sue. In my opinion another lovely male card which we all find hard to do, don't we. And I love how you have brought the forest to life with this beautiful die. Why are men's cards so awkward to do. It's funny but I know men who love their gardens and the flowers they plant from seed....they nurture them....they keep them warm when just starting them off.....they water them well in summer... then when all their beauty is done they over winter some of them for the following year.... but would you dare send them a card with flowers on! ! ! I don't think so. So Thankyou Sue for yet another man card. Someone is going to be very lucky.
Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

Pam – Hope all went well today.
Elaine – Glad to read good news about Andrew and Mary. I don’t expect my hubby to be the way he’s now when he will be John’s age. Sometimes our husbands need a hint when we want a specific thing. And many times, the hint has to be very detailed; otherwise they will come home with whatever they find lol.
Donita – Shoes size: US- 5 (aprox.9”), EU -35 (22.8 cm) or UK -2.5. I said 5 but preferably US 4 ½ that why I have problems finding shoes or sandals. What is your shoe size?
Maureen- Yes, Canadian sizes tare the same as US. Where is your friend Myra?.Any news from PP?

I don’t think I could ever give up thenoises of Nature to live in the city ever again!
There is nothing better than sitting in the dark on your porch and listen to the frogs, cicadas, night birds. Chasing lightning bugs and seeing the new babies running alongside their Mommies!

I’m sorry about this - I thought I’d left a comment but it must have gone into the wide blue yonder!
I always pop back to read the late posts and Carmen asked where Maureen’s fiend was!!
Your creatures in the card look so real - I feel they are looking at us! Lol! We have gatecrashed their world!
Love and thanks!

Hi Sue
I think this card has to be one of my all time favourites. The detail on the dies and stamps is stunning. Someone is going to be very lucky.
