Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi crafters!  This cute little guy is looking for a good home as this is our Wednesday Card Giveaway this week.  I think this is my favourite gingerbread man card, I just love the adorable mask background on it!  I started by taping the Gingerbread Man Mask to a piece of tan card.  I used Frosted Sparkle Glitter Kiss through the mask using the four turn method.  This gives a lovely coverage to all parts of the detail in the mask.  I set it aside to dry and started to work on the house.  I cut it in white with white side accents.  I cut the Icicle border die from the Snowflake Edger die set and added an Iced Snow coverage to it for a frosty feel.  I glued it to the underside of the roof line, the added more Iced Snow along the roof and top of the chimney.  I added door panels and peppermint candy windows to the front, then attached it to the background with foam.  Next I cut the Gingerbread man in tan card.  I inked through the die with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide to add his tummy, cheeks and smile.  I put his eyes in with a pencil. Using a small amount of Comic Lacquer, I wiped over him to give him a bit of a shine.  I used Red Glitter Kiss on to a piece of red card and allowed it to dry, then cut his bow tie and buttons, along with the Our House sentiment and the berries for the holly.  I glued on the bow tie, buttons and white icing bands and added the little guy to the side of the house.  I cut a holly in green then added the glittery red berries to the top and glued it in the upper corner.  Opposite, I added my sentiment, cut and stacked for dimension and then the glittered version on top.  White and red mats and layers were used to complete the card.  If you think you could give this little fella a good home, just leave me a comment to be entered into the drawing to win this one.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue,

What an adorable card. The mask is so much fun and the way you have colored it with the glitter kiss make it look like you have added sugar. The house is sweet and the little Gingerbread Girl is so scrumptious I just want to take a bite. Anyone would love this.

Have a nice day.

Donita Naylor said...

Dear Sue and Blog Commenters,

Such a sweet card. And I agree, too cute to eat, but I would want to lick the frosting off! My favorite parts are the icicles, the background, the sparkles on the roof and the little bow in her hair. What I learned from this card: You can make the focal element the same color as the background if you use another color, in this case white, in between. Thanks. I would have ruled out tan for the background.

I haven't figured it out yet, but there must be a theory about neutrals. I never noticed them until I looked closer at what worked. Apparently, neutrals are necessary for bringing colors to life.

It's good to have you back, Sam. Are you sure that was five weeks?

Diane Green, I loved your giraffe idea. I can see how the doe and stag necks seem to make one long neck, especially if you see one of the stag ears as being his nose. Maybe Sue used some of that Comic Lacquer she used for the gingerbread girl.
A Christmas giraffe shouldn't be too hard. We could add deer antlers to a giraffe stamp, or put him in front of the reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh, or give him a candy-cane striped neck.

Love and hugs to you, Rosemary, and you, Crewe Trish, and a special hug to you, Deborah.

Can't wait to read the ship's log for the Gang of Shenanigans.

Hi Sue, love this cute and fun card. The house with its snow-capped roof and icicles is lovely. I see we are divided as to whether it is a gingerbread man or lady. I know you called it a little fella but because you have put the bow tie on its head it really looks like a bow so I'm going for a gingerbread lady and would love to welcome her into my home. I would keep her safe from the cats, promise :-)

I saw you make this card on Hochanda and thought it was very clever...that gingerbread girl is so adorable and I loved the icicles and the stenciled background.Winning this card will make some lucky blogger's day.
I am going with the giraffe leading Santa's sleigh. With his elevated view he will see obstacles before Rudolph. A long scarf to keep his neck warm. Giraffes are such strange but delightful animals...think he would work.
Ann, I watch Hochanda on my computer. Could you also? If I miss one, love the rewind feature.
Everybody, have a wonderful Wednesday,

Good evening Sue,
Rather late again, such a lovely cheerful card, the gingerbread man looks good enough to eat. I could definitely give this little fellow a good home. Not quite sure what the four turn method is but it obviously works as the background mask looks brilliant. Thank you Sue.

Pam we were down to Seven this time, Myra, Maureen, Patricia, Hazel, Jess, Margaret ( corgi owner) and me. Diane was with us via the technological marvel of face time. Glad Leslie had a fab time despite the weather.
CraftySueToo, Donita, Elaine, we have had a brilliant time. Spent the afternoon shopping then back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. Coming up to our rooms we met a man who so closely resembled a leprechaun coming along the corridor, that we all got a fit of the giggles once he had gone in the lift, Myra's face was a picture and how Patricia didn't have a little accident was a miracle. We ate out at a lovely restaurant before returning to our hotel for another couple of hours of non stop chatter. It's been a lovely meet up once again.
Love and hugs for all
