You Are A Treasured Friend

Good Sunday morning all!  I know you are probably going to say not another Fire and Ice technique card, sorry but I just love the way these look!  I started with the Atlantic Ocean Background and cut it in coconut white card.  I covered the front with a self adhesive sticky sheet then turned it over and coated the back with Summer Meadow Gilding Flakes.  I used a rubit scrubit pad to refine the flakes and remove any excess.  Then I turned it over and peeled away the other backing sheet and coated it with Iced Snow.  I used the inner cutting edge to cut an aperture in the middle.  I cut the inside section form that die set in white and backed it with a piece of gold mirror card.  I added mounting foam to the background and attached it to another piece of card, then recessed the centre down into the aperture.  I cut a Jessica die in white and cut it into two pieces.  I stamped my sentiment and put a gold frame on it from the Cape Verde die set, then added the two pieces of the Jessica die to the top and bottom of it and seated it in the centre of the card.  I cut a gold Chrysanthemum using several of the sizes and layered them up and added it to the corner  with a white satin bow.  White and gold mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 1/4" in size.

The winners of this week's Comment Game are:

Clare W!!!
Carol Edwards!!!
Karen Drew!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Lovely card Sue, it's gorgeous. My new hexagon dies arrived yesterday,al 3 sets, they are the most beautiful dies ever and so large. I'm chuffed to bits with them.
Congrats to comment game winners although I am saddened at how drastically and quickly the comments have dropped now the blog run has ended. It's so not fair on Sue to do this. However she knows she will always have her Wilsonettes loyalty.
Laine, I love the citrus cokes too tummy new favourite is the Ginger cola.
Donita, I too think you were slow,I would have said, oh thank you for offering I will make you a coffee whilst you mow it.
Dragonsnap, welcome home, what a lovely surprise to come home too, enjoy your pressie .
Saba, hope you have arrived home safely, you must be exhausted.
Elaine, hooe Andrew and Darren had a good night out, you must feel so much better seeing Andrew do things like this.
My daily hugs to all, have a great day. Thoughts for our poorly and missing friends, hope all is well.

Hi Sue. Why apologise ? You know how much we love the fire and ice technique and this is just perfect, it's so pretty and eye catching, and I bet in real life the sparkle is mind blowingly stunning, and how gorgeous is that chrysanth cut in gold, a beautiful Sunday stunner. The sentiment is returned tenfold.
Many congratulations to all three winners enjoy using your lovely gift. Feeling rather frustrated and a little miffed to say the least after noticing that other companies try and feed off your success with certain dies and also bring out a snow globe design ! I'm trying to look at it as a compliment to your wonderful own design, but really - do they not have their own ideas, obviously not !
Rant over and now I'm apologising but also sending love and hugs to you and hope your day is full of loveliness ☺ xx

Morning Sue. WOW Another beautiful card. You don't have to apologise for showing such a stunning technique. You can keep them coming as every one of them is a beauty. The flower is stunning cut with the mirri card. Congratulations to all the lucky comment winners. Enjoy your prize. I am a little disappointed to see the numbers have dropped after the launch. It makes me a little mad as it only take two mins to leave a short comment about the card. They find the time to do it during the launch why can't they keep it up all the time. Sorry for my little rant.
Best Wishes.

Hello Sue and all
No solo loft needed Sue and the fire and ice looks amazing with the gold mirror card. I made a card last week for a 50th wedding anniversary with that card and it is really quite difficult not to mark it- I used a flower to cover a glue spot lol !!! Very happy with the result though.
Congratulations to the 3 winners, enjoy your prizes
Thank you for great summary as always Pam, hope you are still getting better each day

Beautiful card and certainly no need to apologise for it being another fire and ice card while they look this good.
I too am saddened by the incredible drop in comments since the giveaway ended. I had some problems whilst on holiday and couldn't comment every day and I know other regulars can't always comment but I'm sure that the drop in numbers is mainly due to some only commenting when there is a prize ar stake. I've also seen it happen on other blogs where it isn't so obvious when there's a giveaway.

Congratulations to today's winners. Enjoy your prizes.
Thoughts and prayers to all in need.
Crafty hugs,

Good Morning Sue. I love this card Sue. I have the gilding flakes but mine never turn out like yours I must take more time and patience with it lol
Pam I totally agree with you about the drop in numbers since the launch ended. I started my holiday to Turkey on the same day as the launch started. We don't have WiFi in our room but I still managed to comment on every single post that Sue put up as soon as we were in a WiFi area.I can't believe that some people don't comment just because a prize isn't involved. Well we all know where the loyalty is, don't we girls. I was luck this time but havnt been in the past, didn't stop me and won't stop me in the future. This post is not meant to offend anyone person in particular and I apologised if it does but you only have to look at the numbers since the launch ended to see why I and many others who comment on a regular basis feel the same way. Well done Sue for all your effort

Hi Sue. I have to agree with you, I really like the fire and ice technique too although I tend to go for the drama of black and gold with it. Unfortunately other people don't really appreciate the use of black on cards (I don't understand why) as I think it adds definition, so this kind of card would be ideal for them.

Dear Sue,

Your Atlantic Ocean Background has been getting a Christmas workout. I was surprised when I first saw it on a Facebook fan page, because I had thought it was a die for spring. But wow, it sure looks good here in white and gold, and for Christmas in red and white. Also, your sample today gave me a look at Jessica that I hadn't noticed before. She's quite lovely.

Dearest Wilsonettes, those who check in only for a drawing will not know they are being scolded. So let's welcome our new friends and let the sunshine patriots go elsewhere. Did you see Sue's up to 5021 followers? Lovely that new people are joining.

In the last 5 days, Sue has bestowed gifts on 37 people: 30 dies, three blog candy winners, a Wednesday weekly giveaway card and three comment game winners.

My card-making friends got together on Saturday. We used to call ourselves stampers, but now we rarely use a stamp except for sentiments. One of the six of us had bought one of the first embossing/die cutting machines at convention, and I remember her and her friend staying up late in the hotel reading the instructions and trying to figure it out. As I drifted off to sleep, I kept hearing "sandwich."

Now we all have Cuttlebugs, plus I have a Platinum and Betsy has the electric Gemini. Our hostess has a Cricut-like machine.

Now the mother-daughter team has bought matching Tim Holtz stamping platforms, so we'll be going that way soon.

Betsy is turning 60 and loves tropical paradises, so I gave her the palm tree, flip-flop and beach die sets, and Pat loves snowflakes and has a knack with flourishes, so she got the snowflake edger and the holly swirl as an early Christmas present. (She might need them before Christmas!)

Our next gathering is Oct. 28, a Christmas card free-for-all. I passed my iPad around, tuned to one of Sue's fan pages on Facebook, so they could work up an appetite.

Stephanie K, saying your SIL's dog is in the National Border Collie Championship is like saying your nephew is at the top of his class at Harvard!

Crewe Trish, I"m with Maureen Killen: No truer word spoken, people matter more.

And Rosemary Powell, you made me laugh when you described Strictly night as where ... "comfys on, booze in hand and husbands gagged." Great line!

Belated Congratulations to Carolyn. And Congratulations Claire, Carol and Karen. It's fun to get a surprise in the mail, but we're all winners here.

love and huggles,
Donita

Beautiful card. I love my chrysanthemum flower die.
Not everyone has the time to leave comments everyday. I am at home all day so luckily I can but for those working its often a matter of catch up at the weekends and as they are catching up on so much they don't leave comments - I have been in that position. It didn't stop me supporting Sue or buying her dyes. Just because you are lucky enough to have the time to post everyday, please appreciate that everyone does not have the same luxury.

Hello Sue,
Beautiful, stunning, elegant. All words to describe today's fabulous card as it's definitely one of yours, unmistakably a "Sue" card, I love it.
Pam, as usual you sum things up beautifully, I hope you are resting before work tomorrow.
Donita, that's great that you and your friends all meet up and I know how much you'll be looking forward to 28th October. Your friends will appreciate the thought and love you put into their gifts. When we meet up we don't craft, although we may occasionally mention it. We talk, go shopping, talk, eat out, talk, laugh, talk, and that's just the first day ha ha.
Tracy, what wonderful news you must be so happy, my goodness those two years have flown.
Congratulations to Carol, Claire and Karen.
Elaine, I have laughed at your comment about John never dancing a step in his life. A professional dancer once tried to teach George, I told her she was wasting her time as he had no natural rhythm or ability. She said "Nonsense, everyone can dance and move to music". She gave up defeated after a few months ha ha. Thank the Lord we weren't paying her, she was a friend. WAS being the operative word (only kidding).
Laine, Rosemary, PP and all the Strictly aficionados are you enjoying the new series? (what a silly question ha ha).
love to all on this miserable, wet day, made all the brighter by your company.
Maureen (Myra's fiend) xxx

Hi Sue and everyone

A very opulent card today, which could easily be done in silver and still look regal. I really like how the Jessica die has been used as well. It is so pretty. Ive never been a fan of chrysanthemums ( much to my late fathers amazement and disgust!). He grew them and thought them beautiful, but there is something about the spiky petals that reminds me of spiders.....aaaahhhhh! However, in this luxurious gold card it does look lovely. I'd still have to keep my distance though!

Congratulations to all the lucky winners today. It seems Sue is just giving and giving and giving lately! Three more excited and happy people have had their Sunday made today.

Tracey, so pleased to hear that you have had your two year all clear. I can't believe it's been that long. Where does the time go? Wishing you a happy and healthy future. X

It seems I spend more time buying dies than making cards lately, so I'm going to get stuck in today I think. I have lots of ideas but sometimes it's overwhelming where to start. Fingers crossed I'll be productive?

Love Helen xxx

Good evening Sue,
I love every single card you make using the fire and ice technique so please rest assured there is no need to apologise for showing us this golden beauty. The chrysanthemum looks fabulous too.

Well fellow Wilsonettes if you thought you'd got rid of me, think again, the last two days have been non stop travelling home and didn't have any time to sit down and give Sue the attention she deserves. Travelling up the Croatian coastal road looking across at the beautiful islands made me want to turn around and get back on the boat. Slovenia and Italy passed by in a blur but the real beauty began once we were in the Austrian Alps. Spectacular mountains, some ablaze with the rich hues of autumnal leaves, others grey and imposing topped by glaciers. There were picturesque villages, cows with bells on and little whitewashed churches, often high above the village on a grassy hill. The temptation to start singing " high on a hill is a lonely goatherd" was overwhelming and I succumbed, much to my husband's disgust, he doesn't get the sound of music at all, it's unknown here in Germany, not surpring really!
Pam you are spot on, I'm shattered and have only this week to get sorted before I fly to the Uk. I seem to spend half my life at the moment packing and unpacking.
Tracy that is fantastic news, these two years have flown by, it seems like only yesterday we were so worried about you, I'm so happy for you.
Rosemary, I'm sorry your friends are letting you down, chin up love, we're here for you.
Apologies for my late congratulations to all the very lucky ladies from the draw, lovely to see so many familiar names.
Elaine, I did a happy dance when I saw your name amongst the winners, you deserve something good happening to you after all you go through.
Donita your craft group sounds like fun,
Congratulations to today's comment game winners, enjoy your prize. And to Carolyn too.

Hi Sue,
Love this elegant card and love the colors. I,personally, won't mind if you'll use every day the fire and ice technique,so need to apologize.

Congratulations to the weekly comment winners!

Not feeling very good at the moment, fighting a nasty cold.

Have a great day.

A beautiful card Sue and never tire of seeing the Fire and Ice technique so no need for apologies. I have the Atlantic die and the Chrysanthemums. Not the Jessica so will try another die or perhaps a good excuse to get the Jessica die. Had a lovely day yesterday with my granddaughter, grandson and GTGrandaughter. No need to say we went iceskating. Today I have been setting up my exhibition at our local library. It will be there for a month. Echoing all Pam's comments today.

Another beautiful card Sue, You give us all inspiration but I wonder who gives inspiration to you. I think you must have more hours in your day than I have!

Congratulations to the comment winners and many, many congratulations to Tracy on her 2 year clearance. My Daughter-in--law also got her 2 year clearance this last week.

Hope you are feeling a bit better today Carmen.
Love to all.

Good Morning Sue and fellow bloggers,
I had never heard of "fire and ice" or "caught in crystal" (love to do this!) until I found you on You Tube. They are both wonderful techniques with a super WOW factor I never tire of. Love this beautiful, regal card this morning. The flowers are gorgeous.
Donita, we are proud of our "grand dog". He didn't win of course (even with Elaine's fingers crossed),but he is just 3 yrs so much potential as he matures. His father is a Canadian dog who had 3 sons in the finals yesterday so Lee has good lines.
Congrats to our winner and Tracy!
