Wednesday Weekly Card

Hello there my crafty friends!  Today's card giveaway is from the Christmas One Day Special Shows that I did in July.  I started by cutting the Ribbon Lattice die across a piece of coconut white card.  It lines up easily to create an entire background.  Next I cut strips of red and white card and attached them on the diagonal to another piece of coconut white card.  I glued the lattice on top of it to create a striped background through the lattice.  For the focal element, I cut the Frosty Frame.  I used spray adhesive on it then coated it with Sparkle Star glitter for a bit of bling.  I used the inner cutting die to create a thin rectangular frame that I mounted over it with foam.  I cut the tag from the set and added it to the centre then stamped and cut out the sentiment with the inner oval.  I accented opposite corners with red poinsettias, Berry Boughs and Holly Swirl sprays.  White and red mats and layers were used to complete the card.  Just leave a comment if you would like a chance to win this one.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Wonderful card Sue, perfect for the Wednesday giveaway, who will be the lucky recipient. It is stunningly Christmassy.
Elaine, you need that Diabetic eye test done, I know the appointments are a pain but they are necessary. Hope Andrew is still having success with his new diet.
Laine and Yvonne, nice to see you both back at the same time, hope better times are here for you both .
Crewe Trish, is your cruise going to be out of the way of this new hurricane, this one is estimated to be so much worse than Harvey. I hope you are and stay safe. When do you leave Vegas.
The puppy sitting went fine, he chased a ball round the floor, had a few little treats and went off to sleep for a couple of hours. I tried to take him for a little walk, got a few yards of him dragging his behind on the road, turned back home and he raced into the house, little tyke. I have never heard him bark yet. Jack went with his mum for the training but Ryan had football practice so had to miss it.
Well my blood tests showed some improvement but still not in range yet, drove the car yesterday afternoon for the first time in 5 weeks so I'm definitely feeling better each day. Doc has agreed I can go back to work on Minday on reduced hours as long ad I feel okay. So will give it a go, can't stay off until after op when I don't know when it will be.
Daily hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends. Where is our lovely Norah and Patricia.

Hello Sue and all,

Beautiful Christmas card, I am so tempted by the ribbon lattice die but trying to be good for the new release, it is such a great background. Really looking forward to using your inspiration to start on Christmas cards this year, your last release was fabulous, refusing to take any peeks, no spoilers before our blog.
Take it easy going back to work Pam, look after yourself first and foremost !!

Hi Sue. I'm speechless. What an amazing gift you are offering today. My screen is full of beauty and cheer I absolutely love everything about this sample. It looks like you really enjoyed putting this together, you know what I mean I hope, there always seems a card that you really enjoy making and when finished give it a really big loving smile as if to say " yesss that's the one" I've yet to feel that lol but this is how I'd feel if I'd made something as gorgeous as this 😊

Morning Sue
I remember being 'wowed' when you demonstrated this card on Hochanda. It is fantabulous x
This is definitely on my hit list of to do cards - a rather long list I will admit but aim high. Reach for the moon and you'll touch the stars x
I am hoping to get back in my (very untidy) crafty space at the weekend but best laid plans . . . .
We'll see, fingers crossed - it has been too long x
Pam - please do not rush back to work too soon. They don't deserve you. You are making good progress at a steady pace so don't spoil it. I can think of quite a few people who could do with attending some training classes of their own - never mind puppy training! Especially folks on this blog. Sending hugs to you x
Elaine - very belated Happy Anniversary wishes. It would seem that you could write a book with all the recipe suggestions for Andrew. Although I was a little taken aback and somewhat bemused at Laine's impression of a culinary genius! She doesn't even know where the kitchen is! Hugs x
Rosemary - I can sense your disappointment at missing out on Strictly but as many others have said you have to prioritize and look after yourself. Sending hugs x
Maureen - we are very overdue a catch up - text you very soon to a range one. How is Gorgeous George - hope you are treating him well. Hugs to you (and George) x
Myra - hope another early comment does not shock you too much. Hugs x
Lynda - so sorry to read about your little dog. Hope you are OK. Love and hugs x
Carmen - I sincerely hope that you're not still under the impression that Laine wants to form a lifelong bond!! Do not be fooled - underneath that sickly sweet exterior she is a monster. Hugs x
Saba - you got it - Laine is like dog with a bone - she does not give up! Lol. As far as borrowing George is concerned, do you think that Maureen will let him out of his chains for long enough - you know what a tyrant she is. Hugs x
Donita - persevere with your poinsettias. In time you will learn to love them. Hugs x
Laine - back in your box! You mention the stress of having to prepare for our chat (or more accurately my having to suffer your mundane banter) on Thursday. What do you think caused my lengthy absence from this blog? It's not all about you despite your delusions of grandeur. Lol. Look forward (not) to catching up on Thursday x
I will shut up now. So enjoying being back amongst all you wonderful Wilsonettes x
Sending happy thoughts and lots of love to everyone especially my blog besties x
Take care
Crafty hugs
Yvonne x

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, wow oh I love this one, got to try it myself, are there enough hours in the day I ask myself. Good luck to everyone xx

Pam I reiterate all you have said above. That puppy knows what he wants and walkies was not on the agenda, he must have tired himself out with the ball, he is only a baby after all. Please be careful when you go back to work, it will be very tiring at first so don't stand any nonsense from the management or else you will be off work for a long time.

Off to craft club this morning.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs June Smith xxx

Thank you for sharing.

Morning Sue,

What a wonderful card for Wednesday's giveaway. So Christmassy in just red and white. I have to admit I do not have your die but I do have the one from SB (bought after you showcased them some while ago now), which will make a smaller version of your card. I do hope it turns out as fabulous as yours.

Pam dear heart, take it steady flower going back to work, your health is more important to you. Gurt bigun (hug) floating across to you.

First rehearsal of our forthcoming Panto is tonight. 6.30 -7.30 for the chorus then 8.00 till whenever for the main cast. I shall only be there at the beginning to collect all cast and chorus measurements and after our rummage through suitable previous costumes for the use of in this panto on Saturday, a trip to buy materials etc. will be forthcoming sometime next week. Then will be the marathon task of cutting out all the different new costumes needed and getting them all parcelled up ready for the sewing ladies to collect. Joy of joys, my time will sorely limited for a couple of months.
Let mayhem and mischief start.

(((((HUGS))))) to all in need of one today. May your day become kinder to you.

Love 7 hugs

Hi Sue, a very pretty card and I am now lucky enough to have all of the elements with the exception of the Frosty Frame so I will try something similar with one of your previous frames. I am already in love with the Lattice Ribbon and of course the poinsettias have been a favourite for ever.

Pam - please don't rush back to work even though you may feel better in the comfort of your home the workplace is different. If they agree to reduced hours just make sure you stick to them and are not tempted to say 'I'll just finish this before I go'.
Laine - now that the terrible two are back in harness let the fun begin :D
Marie - what a lovely surprise for you and yes, technology can be wonderful. You will be looking forward to them returning home so that you can hear all about it.

Donita Naylor said...

Dear Sue and Wednesday Hopefuls,

You are making it SO HARD to resist the Lattice Ribbon with this bright and happy design. I'll have to try with the Checkerboard Poinsettia striplet, and see what the diagonal stripes do to the checks. It'll either be interesting or blah, but my imagination isn't strong enough to get the answer without trying it.

Crewe Trish, if you visit the Grand Canyon instead of the cruise, a friend from work suggests you aim for the little town of Williams, Arizona, and eat at the Pine Tree Cafe and take the scenic train tour. She thinks it's the best place on earth. She hasn't taken the train tour herself, but a lot of her complaining relatives did, and they LOVED it. To survive Vegas you're supposed to stay inside at all times. What an adventure you're on. Any Scrapbook stores within an air conditioned drive of your hotel?

Pam, did your nephew fulfill his dream of seeing the Grand Canyon? I can't imagine they could drive there and back within a week, even if they ARE college guys. I, too, was shocked to hear you say you were going back to work on Monday. Are you absolutely positive? Could you hold off a little just to be safe?

Wow Sam, enjoy your month away. What a life! I've been meaning to ask, who are Colin and Heather that you mention in your comments every day? Are they Sue's husband and daughter, or someone related in you?

Yvonne, that was an excellent bit of comedy, ending every remark with "hugs." Almost like they do in the South, when they add, "Bless her heart" every time they say something mean. Not that your comments were mean. But the cumulative effect of the hugs was funny.

And Laine, you also pulled off a perfectly timed comic bit with "massive porkies!"

Maureen Killen, you are so right. I really should throw out all my chipped dishes, and the ones discolored from years spent half-buried outside (I used to have stepsons) and the ones that don't match any other ones anymore. (Ditto). And get my dishwasher fixed.

Speaking of hugs, you are so sweet, Rosemary Powell, to send me love and hugs every day.

Let's hope Florida is still around later Wednesday. I, too, hope Sue is safely elsewhere.

Haven't been around much this past week, Sadly my gorgeous kitten has gone missing. Well, he's 14 months now but still a kitten in my eyes. I've been trying to keep busy to stop me from sitting crying. It's the not knowing that's the worst thing. At least if I'd found his body I could grieve but I just don't know. My neighbour list her kitten for almost a month and it turned out she was shut in a shed...I'm hoping that's what has happened to Minx and that he'll get out and come home. In the meantime, I'm trying hard to finish my project for my sister...did it once and hated it so I'm starting many weeks to Christmas lol.

I remember this card. I love it. Reminds me of my early days buying a stick of peppermint. You know, the "chalky" type. No, I'm not that old, but I do remember doing this way back when lifestyles did not have computers and cell phones and there were only two TV channels.

Maureen Killen said...

Hello Sue,
What a gorgeous show stopper today. You've really pulled no punches with this one, it's fabulous!!
Pam, glad you enjoyed your puppy sitting but I really think you should reconsider going back to work, even on reduced hours. You've been so poorly and although you probably feel much better at home where you can sit or relax when you feel like it, it will be a different thing when you are at work with the slave drivers and their whips.
Donita, don't worry about cracked or discoloured crockery. If I send George over he'll soon get rid of those for you. He's never allowed anywhere near my good dishes or ornaments as I prefer them without chips or cracks, but I do allow him to do the pans ha ha!!!
Diane, you are so right - I wouldn't give George away. I couldn't reach the tops of the cupboards if he wasn't around and he's extremely useful in the Supermarket!
PP and Laine, it's so good to see such good friends sparring, you are good friends aren't you? ha ha.
Elaine, I know the drops are awful but, as you say, it has to be done. I hope everything is o.k. Will you find out straight away next Thursday?
Maria, are you o.k? When is Ally Pally? I'd love to go but it's a major expense from up here as it would involve a sleep over, unless I pitch a tent somewhere!!!
Rosemary, it's lovely to get hugs (or cuddles as we say!)
Bejay, I do hope you get some good news about Minx and he returns home soon.
Pat L, let's hope you get some good drying weather.
I hope all our ladies Stateside are safe from Irma, a lady with a sting in her tail that's for sure.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Wowzers! Another stunning Christmas card for this weeks giveaway, Sue, but you are spoiling us!:-) i cant adequately express just how much i love red and crisp winter white as a colour combination, it screams Christmas and is just so clean and elegant. The way that you have created the background is a piece of genius, i adore the red and white diagonal bands peeking out from behind the trellised foreground. I will definitely be trying this card as i have all the necessary elements...i have the rather ambitious plan to create every one of your festive cards this autumn, Delusional?Who me?:-). Thanks for the chance to win this beauty, its much appreciated and it would look lovely my craft room!
Had an obscenely early start today, missed a good two hours slumber and spent most of the night looking at my alarm clock waiting for it to ring:-) Had the beginnings of a migraine as a result but you cant keep a good girl down and i surged ahead with my plans regardless hoping a handful of pain medication would stop it in its tracks:-) I had my regular Wednesday appointment with my hairdresser for a blow dry so predictably the weather left a lot to be desired:-( What with the lethal combination of wind and rain my hair resembled an unkempt bush by the time i returned home, money well spent then!:-)
Pam, what are you doing honey? Is it really wise to ge going back to work even if it is only for a few hours, when you are just getting back on your feet again? I worry that you are pushing yourself too far too soon because of the pressure your bosses place on you, please be Tripley sure that you are ready so that you don't relapse. Hugs.
Marie, congrats on your granddaughters nuptials, it sounded such fun.
Rosemary, we're obviously both Strictly fanatics so perhaps we can compare notes each week on best bum, deepest tan, jazziest outfit and heaviest makeup....which a man will probably win because ive seen less makeup on Boy George!:-) Good luck with those meds, hope they start having a positive effect on your seizure activity.
Mavis, hope that you are feeling much improved after your hospital stay.
Myra & Maureen, please don't encourage Yvonne because she already believes that she is indispensable, personally, i was grateful for the rest in her absence. There seems to be a rapidly expanding list of ladies requesting George's services, does he realise how popular he is or are you trying to keep him grounded Maureen?
I think I'll be a rebel and split this comment in two.....

A lovely card, Sue. Such a clean look. One I definitely want to try.

Part two

Elaine, don't listen to Yvonne's verbal incontinance, i am quite capable in the kitchen however I CHOOSE not to cook for myself unless absolutely necessary.....she's just bitter and twisted because of her gluten free diet restrictions:-) I'm so glad Andrew liked some of my suggestions though, its so important that he keeps his strength up. Good luck with your eye appointment on Thursday, hope you pass with flying colours.
Saba, enjoy your stay in the cottage, where in Yorkshire is it? Are you planning to go to Ally Pally before you return to Germany?
Bejay, i am heartbroken for you, i have had this happen to me three times to each of my cats, twice with a tragic outcome and once with Darcey when she was trapped inside a neighbours house for four days whilst they were on a break away. It is the worst feeling imaginable and i hope that you receive positive news about Minx he microchipped and has he wandered before? Fingers crossed he's gotten trapped somewhere, ask all your neighbours to check their garages, sheds, outbuildings, homes for any sign and i put up photographic posters which really helped. Goodluckxxx
Carmen, glad to hear that you're okay:-) please don't listen to Yvonne's bitter bile, she is just jealous that i have a new friend who appreciates my many qualities:-) its only natural for you to have missed me honey but I'm back and I'm here to make sure certain individuals don't spread scurrilous lies about me. Your friendship is valued, never think otherwisexxx
Oi Yvonne! Not back two minutes and you are already causing mayhem and spreading your own unique brand of misery. I'd say get a life but to my knowledge miracles don't happen, least of all in Croydon!:-) Stop pretending that you find my company tedious, the fact is that you are not used to be ing stimulated in that way anymore, i am a pleasure to converse with and well you know it:-) i am trying to take into account that it is the anniversary of our first meeting and that you will be disappointed that we are not going to Ally Pally together this year. If you buck up your ideas and be nice for a change i might consider visiting next year instead.......speak with you tomorrow i guess, but you better lose the attitude and lip!:-)
sorry for the length of my comment ladies, i wont make a regular occurance of it, i promise.

Love and crafty hugs

Thank you for showing so many ways to use your dies. I tend to be a bit regimented, so have trouble thinking outside the box. I really appreciate when you show how versatile the dies can be!

Hello Sue,
Wow! It's taken ages to read all that! Lol!
I firmly believe that if you read it - as I know you do then I should too! Please let me know if you change your mind!!! Lol!
Sue, I love this card - and may be known as Donita says as a " Sue Wednesday Hopeful!"
I love how you have used the Dies and the colours are just Christmas!
Bejay - so sorry about Minx - I hope he comes home soon.
Carmen - Latin at this time of night is tooo much! It's a language I love but my brain after 4pm is thinking in English! Does one's brain think? Oh I don't know! I'm just glad mine is still working - careful now Maureen!!!
Pam - ready for work? I'm not sure about that . Please take care ! I think you need to tell folks at work how important you are to us!!
Yes - Carmen we are going to meet up again! I'm so looking forward to it! Good friends are hard to find.
Laine - I visited the Hairdresser yesterday! According to my husband I look different! It would appear it's different in a good way! Whew!
I think I've said more than enough! Thank you Sue,
Love to all, Myra, Friend of Maureen!) xxx

Hello Sue,
There are beautiful cards and then there are those which are breathtaking in their sheer gorgeousness, today's card is one of them. Fabulous lattice background and a gorgeous contrast of crisp white with rich red. Whoever wins this card will be over the moon. Thank you for your generosity in offering up this masterpiece.

Pam I'm worried about you going back to work and I'm not on my own. Please reconsider, your health is more important than your obligations to a company who have treat you so badly.
Bejag I'm so sorry Minx has gone missing, I sincerely hope he is back home safely with you soon.
Elaine good luck with your eye appointment, those drops are no fun, one of my little grandchildren has to have them twice a year, he always gets a little treat afterwards, I would suggest you slip a bag of haribo ( other brands are available) into you handbag but suspect that only works for 7 year olds!
Marie congratulations to your granddaughter, look forward to hearing about it when she gets back.
Yvonne have you considered going ex directory or even having your phone disconnected?
Laine, I'm in a little Village called Stainforth in the Yorkshire dales, no shops, no gas supply and no mobile phone signal, but plenty of sheep to keep us amused! I won't make Ally Pally this year, I fly home on Saturday but might make next year. I did ask you to be gentle with Yvonne but I see you have totally ignored my advice.
Carmen I do hope Laine didn't study Latin otherwise she'll realise you are referring to her as a wolf! As for the gang, watch this space!
Love and hugs for all
