Christmas Double Day

Hi crafters!  I'm starting out today's double day with a card that uses one of the Stamps To Die For (STDF) line.  Working from the background up, I embossed a piece of coconut white card with the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder.  Next I cut two of the Checker board Poinsettia border in coconut white card.  I cut a strip of ruby red card and glued it behind the centre floral portion of the borders then embossed the strip into the design and glued them on to the wedges of the background.  I stamped the Pine Wreath  STDF in black and cut it out with the matching Scalloped Snowflake die, then coloured it with Distress Markers.  I cut a second Scalloped Snowflake in white and offset it behind the stamped on and attached them in the centre of the card.  I wanted to mirror the stamped image with the embellishment so I added a couple of Pine Cones and some greenery.  I added some Iced Snow to the pine cones for a frosty feel.  White on white mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is a silver and white framed Winter Wonderland card.  I started by cutting the sentiment out of a piece of Vintage silver card.  I used the negative for this and backed it with white card.  I cut a multi layered white frame from the Double Pierced Noble Squares.  I added mounting foam to raise them, then cut four of the Snowflake Edgers in silver mirror card and attached them to the foam mounting on the frame.  I stamped the deer from the Forest Life stamp set in black on white card and cut them out with the matching die from the Forest Animal die set.  I inked the backs lightly with Black Soot and attached them to the card; the mother and baby deer on the background and the male deer on the outer frame of the card.   I added a stamped bird above the sentiment too.   I completed the card with white, vintage silver and silver mirror card mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  All for now,
Sue x

Wow, two beauties for us again today., both so beautiful, I can't choose. Love the star and pine cones but the deer on no 2 are so elegant.
Rosemary, hope you are feeling better and the meds are settling down. I hooe too that the pain in your back eases.
Pat, I too wish I had seen your post to see Sarah's pic, she is an inspiration to us all.
Laine and Yvonne, hope the phone call went fine, you know you too love each other really.
Elaine, isn't it great to hear something going right for Andrew, his taste buds are zinging and he is enjoying his food. I hooe your eye appointment goes well for you too and they can sort your problem out.
The news reports of the hurricane damage is very sad and scary, I can't imagine what it is like to lose everything like that, and another one brewing on Irmas tale, my heart goes out to all caught up in it. Sue, even if you are in the UK you must have so many family and friends there, I hooe all are safe for you.
Saba, have you enjoyed the peace if your little cottage, safe journey home when it is time to go.
Daily hugs to all, you are such a caring bunch of people. Special hugs for our missing and poorly friends.

Morning Sue. Magical. There two-fer Fridays are just that. You always seem to get the mix spot on. One for those that celebrate the true meaning and one for those that celebrate the joy of giving gifts and sharing far too many calories (unless we stash our fav chocolate till the guests have left) lol. These two samples are absolutely gorgeous Sue. The STDF wreath is so intricate and the deer so bold you can almost feel the testosterone oozing with how proud he's standing. Your 2nd sample is really luxurious and I really love the border, I must treat myself to that one that's for sure. Both beautiful in their own right.Sending love and hugs and a day of happiness and laughter xx

Hi Sue,

I'm loving these Christmas Double Days - so much inspiration!...and these two cards are simply wonderful, can't pick a favourite but I do like the framing effect on the second one created by the sentiment die as it debossed the silver card while cutting the words - you've created a virtue out of a necessity...have to say that the Snowflake borders look like gold mirror card in the close-ups rather than silver but no less wonderful for that...

Elaine - so happy to hear that Andrew is enjoying his breakfasts again, fingers crossed that he puts on a few pounds!

Dear Sue and Friends,

Yes! Yes! Yes! Love, love, love both of these. Maybe the first one better. Or maybe the second one. I never would have thought of cutting these half snowflakes all around the inside of the outside edge. I would have to use the deer family with the swirly rumps, though. And on the first card, I'd have to use a different focal element, perhaps the Noel Frame.

I had to look up a lot of the Caribbean islands this week. Especially surprised by Barbuda. Never heard of it before. Where was I when the Beatles were going there, when the volcano erupted and destroyed the largest city? Obviously not paying attention to the news, is where I was.

So, Rosemary, since you found your eye mask, are you going to the show, or just watching it on TV?

Cheers to your weekend, everybody. I have reached the drop edge of yonder, too sleepy to operate a blog comment.

Hello Sue,
Two gorgeous cards today, with number 2 my particular favourite, but then number 1 is rather nice - oh, decisions, decisions ha ha.
Pam, hope you are well this morning and feeling much better. Rest well over the weekend if you are going in to work on Monday.
Pat L, I watched Blue Peter on Catch Up this morning, and saw a vision in pink. She's such a wonderful child, you must be so proud of her.
Donita, I was with you when the Beatles played Barbuda, we were obviously Somewhere Over The Rainbow!!! I'd never heard of it either and I kept shouting Bermuda at the screen thinking that the reporters had it wrong. A quick check with an Atlas proved that I was wrong but a more techno savvy person would have looked on their computer ha ha.
P.P. have a good day with your friend, she's an angel to put up with you or do you pay her lol!! I'm pleased that you feel well enough to make the effort, although you've still a way to go.
Maria, how are you. I hope you are feeling much better.
Elaine, thinking of you all.
Love to all

Hi Sue, two gorgeous cards for us to feast our eyes on today. I love the first one; the stamping/colouring, the checkerboard poinsettia and the pine cones all blend together to make a lovely traditional style card. The second one is almost beyond words for me, it grabbed my attention as soon as I scrolled down. I like the contrast between the matt and mirror card and I adore the deer and all of the forest animals so I think that today I have to choose no. 2 as just being the favourit

Myra - the cricket has been brilliant, hasn't it. This third test could go either way. Let's hope the weather behaves itself better than it is doing at the moment.

I , too, would like to say how sad I am to see such devastation in the Caribbean! I hadn't heard of Barbuda either. We won't forget it now! Thinking of all those with families in that area and in the US . Such destruction is frightening!
Frances - so pleased I've found another cricket fan! Today we have rain but I won't complain!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Awesome is the only word to describe Christmas Double Days! And, as per usual, i cant make an adult decision as to which is my favourite....both have such positive qualities and evoke a warm, cosy glow. I am loving the poinsettia edger, it is fabulous and looks stunning in red and white, very festive. This card is as near to perfect as is humanely possible, in fact, the only thing that i would change from a personal point of view is the pine cones, i would rather use my beloved poinsettias instead. The second card is equally eye catching, i love the stamped deer, very sweet and the frame sets the scene off beautifully. Thanks Sue for the continued inspiration.
I too have been shocked and saddened by the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Irma, many islands have been flattened and so many homes lost. It must be terrifying for the people of Florida to observe this turn of events in the knowledge that they are directly in its path. I too hope that you are back on this side of the Atlantic just now Sue, though i am sure it will be of little comfort to you since many of your family and friends will be affected. I hope that any further damage will be minimal and that there will be no more loss of lives. How lucky are we to have such mild...if rather conditions.
My absence spoke volumes yesterday:-) i had a long appointment with my nail technician to get my fingers and toes beautified....i had been dreading the appointment because my nails had begun to lift at the corners and come away from the nail bed. Its happened to me many times before when my health has deteriorated and i feared that my acrylic nails would be taken off and my nails left bare:-( Yikes!
Thankfully though, i got a stay of execution as they hadn't deteriorated any further. I don't feel properly dressed without my nails and toes done, i know it seems frivolous but its because ive had no nails on many occasions that i like them to look nice.
Had to face the dreaded conversation with you know who when i got home which meant that i was physically and mentally drained and unable to string a coherent sentence together afterwards so please pardon my absence:-) despite a total lack of encouragement on my part the conversation drifted on for what felt like a lifetime, Yvonne seemed happy because she likes the sound of her own voice but me on the otherhand, well, you can guess! We had a difference of opinion over when the new blog launch will be, i said that Monday would be the perfect date as the ideal precursor to Ally Pally but Yvonne thinks tomorrow will be the day, it will be interesting to see who is right......promise i wont gloat too much:-) I am super excited regardless, cant wait to see what Sue produces with her fabulous samples.
Pam, please get plenty of rest over the weekend in preparation for Monday, and don't be afraid to go home if it proves too much for you. Hugs
Saba, have a safe trip home. I'm hoping to go to Ally Pally again next year if Yvonne is accommodating.....she's binned me off this year with the excuse that her Mum and Dad are visiting, i have my suspicions that this is a big fat porkie on her part and she's really just scared that i will get my claws into one of her handsome young boys:-)
Bejay, cant stop thinking about little Minx, i hope you get some good news soon....have you tried posters because that's how i found out about Dante and then Darceys whereabouts, it really helped.
Rosemary, I'm almost wetting myself with anticipation over tomorrow's Strictly premiere....its a good job ive never given birth because if my pelvic floor muscles were any weaker I don't think industrial strength Tena Lady would be enough protection for the occasion!:-)
Yvonne, id say enjoy your afternoon out but we both know that your friend is a mere figment of your imagination:-)
Hugs to all my blog besties, hope you are all wellxxx

Love and crafty hugs

Good morning Sue and all the Wilsonettes.

I Love both of these cards but the Deer one is my favourite. I think because when I lived in Canada I used to teach porcelain doll making in my basement studio (Oh happy days) and the Deer often came right up to the window to see what we were doing. In those days we spent the winter months in Florida so I know what it's like to be anticipating disaster. We were not there when Hurricane Andrew destroyed some of our property thank goodness.
I'm rabbiting on again so I'll sign off for now.
Thoughts and prayers for all in the path of Irma and in this group who are sick or unhappy.
